H & R Block U.S. Headquarters Reviews (372)

Dear RevDex.com, In response to this complaint, our investigation reflects that the [redacted] Federal and Kansas State returns were prepared and submitted to the IRS and State Department of Revenue on March 19, 2016, via electronic filing. Records further indicate that both returns... were recieved and processed by the respective taxing authorities and both returns were accepted on March 20, 2016. There is no evidence in our records that H&R Block failed to properly and timely prepare and file the Kansas return. As such, repeated requests have been made to Ms. [redacted] by phone for any relevant documentation from the Kansas Department of Revenue stating that the 2015 return was not filed. Unfortunately, we have yet to receive the documentation and we are unable to further investigate this matter.Should the [redacted] provide documentation to H&R Block for review, please fax to ###-###-####. We ask the Bureau to note our above-referenced efforts to resolve Mr. [redacted] complaint. Sincerely,Michelle ***Associate Business AnalystH&R Block

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed Administratively Resolved] Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: I have proof that I have prepared my tax return with H&R Block every year since 2008. I tried to contact the same office where I prepared my tax return for 2010 and 2011 years but they said that due to a system migration, it was no longer available in the system. At that time I was told that all hard copies were moved to another facility.H&R Block still have a copy of my 2010 tax return but they are refusing to provide it since it will require some work to locate it. How are consumers or tax payers supposed to use their services if information will get lost? It is H&R Block responsibility to provide me a copy of my 2010 tax return. I do have a full copy of my 2011 tax return and a receipt only of my 2010 tax return. If proof is what's needed, I can provide. Regards, [redacted]

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the responseIf no reason is received your complaint will be closed Administratively Resolved]Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: They had a techie call me, that probably was very good, and they offered to send me a free software next year By the time the techie reached me, a week after my complaint, I had resolved the issue my self They never addressed the issues of support or lack of supportWhy the multiple hour hold times and the lack of skills on there level & tiers of support Their promotional materials are indicating unlimited Expert Tax Support Basically they didn't read the complaint! Regards, [redacted]

Dear Revdex.com, In response to this matter, our investigation reflects that Ms [redacted] complaint is against a franchise office which has the responsibility to resolve this matter with your office and directly with the client Records reflect that the franchise office had been working closely with Ms [redacted] on this matter but as of late last year it was determined that they had exhausted all steps to assist Ms [redacted] Ms [redacted] had her tax return prepared in April At that time, Ms [redacted] elected to have her anticipated refund from both the IRS and the State of [redacted] directly deposited into her bank accountRecords reflect that Ms [redacted] gave her tax professional the bank account information (routing number and account number) and confirmed it when she signed the paperwork associated with the tax return When Ms [redacted] made her tax professional aware of the delay in her getting her refund her tax professional contacted the IRS and the State of [redacted] , and also researched what bank the funds might have been sent to in error Due to the involvement of multiple government agencies and banks the situation had become time consuming and very complicatedThe franchise office had been working on Ms [redacted] ’ behalf to trace the whereabouts of the funds for over a year, including researching the Code of Federal Regulations Ms [redacted] is aware of the steps that were taken on her behalf, and has also been advised on other steps that she could take on her own According to the franchisee, there is nothing more that his office can do at this point as this matter is now in the hands of the governmental agencies and once the investigation is complete Ms [redacted] will be notified We trust this response will allow your office to close your fileHowever, should you have additional questions or desire to discuss this matter further, please do not hesitate to contact me Sincerely, [redacted] Associate Business AnalystH&R Block

Dear Revdex.com: H&R Block has reviewed Ms [redacted] ’s rebuttal to our prior responseThis response contains H&R Block’s final position We respectfully decline the request for the Peace of Mind fee refund, as the request to rescind the coverage was not made within the 7-day period allowed by the terms and conditions MrHeath and Ms [redacted] signedThe recession must be specifically requested, even when a tax preparation complaint is made Additionally, if the fee is requested back within the 7-day period for the product, the Peace of Mind plan no longer covers the return should the IRS contact the clients regarding an issue with their returnThe check for the remainder of fees was delivered to the updated address today, November 30th, We apologize for the delay, as the check was previously sent to an old address which has now been updated in our databaseWhile we regret Ms [redacted] ’s dissatisfaction with our company, we consider all issues addressed and this matter closedWe ask that the Revdex.com note our efforts to resolve this matter thoroughly and fairlyHowever, if you should need anything further or have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact meSincerely, Michelle B [redacted] Associate Business Analyst H&R Block

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the responseIf no reason is received your complaint will be closed Administratively Resolved] Complaint: I am rejecting this response because: On Monday Feb 23rd I received an email from [redacted] at 644pm stating the following: "I am writing to inform you that I have a check for you of I’d love to meet with you on Thursday or Friday morning of this week? Do you have the availability? I will be at [redacted] *, Anchorage" According to the message from Ms [redacted] via the Better Business Bearu site which stated "Ms***'s claims have been approved for the full amount requested in her complaint." In my complaint I had requested to be compensated for the full seven thousand dollars that was paid to the IRS not just the penalties I proceeded to contact [redacted] that night at approx 730pm via phone Her and I discussed the message I received from Ms*** [redacted] proceeded she would discuss the message and the miscommunication with her supervisor and get back to me the next day which would have been Tuesday Feb 24th I waited one week to hear a response from [redacted] and still have not received a phone call or email from her That evening I forwarded her the message I received from Ms [redacted] via the Revdex.com as she requestedThank you for your assistance in removing this matter Your time and input is greatly appreciated For your review I have attached the email that was sent to be by *** Regards, Patricia ***

Dear RevDex.com,In response to the BBB complaint, we recently tried to contact Ms. [redacted] at the number provided in the complaint but were unsuccessful. Today, April 14, 2016, a letter was forwarded to Ms. [redacted] 's mailing address advising her to contact our General District Manager, [redacted] at 404-901-0977. If Ms. [redacted] should contact us via this information, we will be happy to further assist her and address any concerns she might have. Otherwise, we are unable to further investigate this matter. We ask that the Bureau note our above-referenced efforts to contact Ms. [redacted] to discuss her complaint. Sincerely, H&R Block Associate Business AnalystH&R Block

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the responseIf no reason is received your complaint will be closed Administratively Resolved] Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because:H & R Block called me to apologize for the money being removed from my account without my approval however there was no explanation as to how or why this happened Just apologies H & R Block still believes they are owed $for the completion of my taxes I agreed to this however I contacted the Revdex.com in order to pursue a refund H & R Block asked if I thought the fee still needed to be paid? If this situation hadn't occurred, absolutely I had every intention of paying H & R Block prior to the date on the letter I received stating my card did not go through at the time the transaction was completed However, the money was removed on the same day I received the letter in the mail and this was most likely an attempt to cover up the fact that they attempted to start removing the funds days before the letter was even drafted Now do I believe I still owe them $- absolutely not! Because of this situation, I had to take time to call my bank, contact the Revdex.com (all before Christmas) in order to try and resolve this and all H & R Block has to do is call and apologize? Whose doing more work here? Also, in preparing to do my taxes for 2015, I had to review my return - which is the return I had completed at this H & R Block office and still believes I owe them $ While doing this, I found forms from someone else's tax return in my file! Yes I found another clients CONFIDENTIAL tax forms in my file! However, I'm sure H & R Block will find me responsible for coming across another person's tax return in my file and charge me for them being irresponsible once againI mean honestly, you call and apologize but then ask when you will get your money? That takes loads of guts and selfishness to expect payment after something like that Because H & R Block thinks they still deserve payment lets me know they are not sorry or remorseful for what happened I do not wish to close this complaint as H & R Block still wants payment for something they didn't even realize was missing for months! H & R Block may believe we came to a mutual agreement but it is far from that I don't believe I owe them anything!Thank You Regards, [redacted] ***

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the responseIf no reason is received your complaint will be closed as Assumed Answered] Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: H&R Block knows good and well they screwed up!!! Now all they wanna say is they ain't giving me my money back!!! How can u offer something without the proper training on it? Even the head guy told me his agents were not aware of the loan process!!! How can you offer something and not know about it??? I will not stop this until impayed back so be ready!!! Yal have advertising like crazy!!! I could've went anywhere and gotten my taxes done for free being in the military but instead I chose yal which will never happen again!!! Regards, [redacted] ***

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed Administratively Resolved] Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: The district manager and I did not come to a mutual agreement. He only refunded me 125.00 of the orginal amount I had requested, which was the full amount of my tax prep fees. He felt that was was fair enough, I did not.I went through so much unnecessary stress to attempt to get my taxes done correctly. The [redacted] only refunded the 125.00 because he said that "h&r block is standing behind the federal return that was done correctly." Yes, it was...after I basically walked my tax professional where to put what number where on the computer, along with many other customer service issues. I never should have been told it was my fault. Ever. I was told by the DM that he did not know that I had contacted the b.b.b, and he said that his refund decisions usually stand, but he has never dealt with a b.b.b complaint, and corporate may decide to do more. So I am still asking for the whole refund amount. Regards, [redacted]

Dear Revdex.com,In resolution to this matter, records reflect that our district office is currently in the process of assisting Mrs [redacted] and have completed the Schedule C as requestedWe will continue to correspond with Mrs [redacted] in attempts to reach a mutually acceptable resolutionWe ask that the Bureau note our current efforts to resolve Mrs [redacted] 's complaintSincerely, [redacted] Associate Business AnalystH&R Block

Dear Revdex.com,In response to this matter, our investigation reflects that Mr [redacted] 's complaint is against a franchise office, which has the responsibility to resolve this matter directly with your office and directly with the client. However, after a review of this matter, records reflect Mr [redacted] spoke to ***l [redacted] by phone and during the conversation, Mr [redacted] offered the following to Mr [redacted] : 1.) Mr [redacted] could drop off his paperwork so that Mr [redacted] could complete the return; 2.) Mr [redacted] offered to drive to [redacted] and complete the return if Mr [redacted] could return to the office in approximately two hours and 3.) Mr [redacted] could complete the return with another tax professional with a discounted rate, but not a free returnMr [redacted] respectfully declined all of the options provided by Mr [redacted] .As the return did not get discounted at the time of preparation, Mr [redacted] further offered a discount on next year's return but Mr [redacted] also declined that offerWhile we regret Mr [redacted] 's dissatisfaction with the services that were provided, it is the Franchisee Associate, [redacted] , belief that Mr [redacted] 's appointment time was honored by another highly qualified tax professional on time and without error and therefore does not qualify for a refund of the tax preparation fee due to the service providedWe assure you that we take the concerns of our clients seriously and make every effort to resolve matters thoroughly and fairlyif you should need anything further or have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.Sincerely, [redacted] ***Associate Business AnalystH&R Block

Revdex.com:I would like to thank the Revdex.com for their help with this matter.I regret that H&R Block did not provide me with any other avenue for resolution Regards, [redacted]

Dear Revdex.com,H&R Block disagrees with Mr***'s allegationsOur investigation reflects that the Partnership in question was dissolved on June 30th, Per the IRS guidelines, a final return is required to be filed within months of dissolvingIn this case, Mr [redacted] visited H&R Block in March of 2015, which was already past the filing deadline imposed by the IRSWe refute that Mr [redacted] was advised that the Partnership return was not late when he brought an IRS letter to our office at the end of April with the late filing fee penalty, instead, the tax professional did advise Mr [redacted] that the current year personal return was not yet lateHowever, in effort to make amends, and as a gesture of good faith, our office did contact the IRS on Mr***'s behalf and came to the resolution with the IRS to file a penalty abatement to eliminate the late filing penaltyAs the late filing penalty will be removed by the IRS and because there was no error or neglect on H&R Block's part, we are declining Mr***'s request for a refund of tax preparation feesWhile we sincerely regret that Mr [redacted] appears to be dissatisfied with his experience at H&R Block, we believe the tax preparation work was correct based on the information Mr [redacted] provided at the time of the serviceIn light of H&R Block's above-referenced good-faith actions to resolve this matter, we respectfully request that this case be closedHowever, should you have additional questions or desire to discuss this matter further, please do not hesitate to contact meSincerely, [redacted] ***Associate Business AnalystH&R Block

Dear Revdex.com,In response to Mr [redacted] ' rebuttal, our review determines the rebuttal raises no new issuesThis response contains H&R Block's final position. We maintain that the Penalties and Interest claims have been approved and the check were sent by mail on Wednesday, January 13, Mrand Mrs [redacted] should allow 7-business days for regular mail deliveryIn efforts to show appreciation to a loyal customer, we offered the gift certificate towards the tax preparation fees of the [redacted] ' return, which was sent by regular mail on Thursday, January 14, 2016.While we regret that Mrand Mrs [redacted] appear dissatisfied with their experience at H&R Block, we stand by our response and trust that this will allow your office to close you fileHowever, should you have additional questions or desire to discuss this matter further, please do not hesitate to contact meSincerely, [redacted] ***Associate Business AnalystH&R Block

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the responseIf no reason is received your complaint will be closed Administratively Resolved] Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: Block's response was: "a check was mailed to the address of record Wednesday, September 2, 2015"1) I finally received the check on Tuesday, September 15, 2015.2) Block's rebate tracking center still says: "Your rebate is valid and is scheduled for final processing", just like it has for the last seven months They probably just wrote me a check to make the Revdex.com complaint go away.3) Block has consistently stalled payment and ignored any inquiries, prior to the Revdex.com involvement They appear to be intentionally not paying the rebates owed I suspect a lot of other people didn't get their rebates and Block is depending on them to not bother following up Nowhere in Block's response to this complaint have they committed to finding and correcting the problem with their rebate processing Regards, [redacted]

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the responseIf no reason is received your complaint will be closed as Assumed Answered] Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: First, let me begin by there are no misunderstandings or confusion on my tax preparation, but there is gross negligence We had been doing business and using the same preparer, [redacted] , for over years without incident, so we did not see the need to buy the Piece of Mind Guarantee for the extra fee after building a solid trust foundation During 2013, I was going through a divorce and buying a house Three different Tax preparers touched our taxes that year The first appointment, my ex-husband was missing a couple of forms, which he gathered for our next appointment The second appointment, I went in by myself to see if it was beneficial for me to file separately that year from my ex, which if I had I would have received a refund The third appointment, we went back together with all our documentation and sat with a newer associate in the office, as our preparer was overbooked While sitting with the newer associate, she had to keep interrupting our preparer to ask her questions and how to input certain forms We pay to get our taxes done for the expertise of the tax preparer since we are not current on all the tax laws and changes from year to year One error that was made is that the preparer claimed my PMI on a FHA mortgage which the IRS states in their reply to our supporting documentation, that I am not eligible to claim because my Adjusted Gross Income for that year was above the threshold of $109, The other error that was made, was additional monies were keyed in to the Schedule A Line which is for Home Mortgage Interest in the amount of $28, The paperwork we provided does not add up to that amount in any way possible As for declining H&R Block to refund my fees and pay the penalties and interest, AT NO TIME have I ‘respectfully declined the offer’ as stated in their email response to you I was only contacted by [redacted] on Wednesday, April 6th in the afternoon via message on my answering machine, which I received when I returned home that evening I was unable to call her back that evening I received your email containing H&R Block’s response on the afternoon of Thursday, April 7th stating that I had declined the offer when I hadn’t talked with anyone from the office Timeline of events are as follows: 9/11/- Received notice from IRS in the mail 9/12/– Called H&R Block Customer Service Number to be connected with Tax Preparer to discuss the notice [redacted] office is seasonal and was not manned on that day Spoke with Elizabeth Jones in the Bellingham office and she stated that there wasn’t much she could do for since I did not buy the Piece of Mind Guarantee 9/16/– Left Message for [redacted] with [redacted] in the [redacted] office 9/16/– Spoke with [redacted] in the afternoon and set up appointment to meet with her in the [redacted] office on 9/ 9/17/– Meet with [redacted] and my ex, [redacted] in the [redacted] office to discuss the notice and to look at the tax return Discovered OCWEN had many different forms and only reported a few of them [redacted] was to research with *** Found that there was an entry error in the worksheet for the Schedule A 10/8/– Spoke with IRS and was granted an extension to return paperwork Early December – Received Notice of Deficiency from IRS 2/24/– Filed petition to Tax Court with supporting documentation from Mortgage company with missing PMI payment for Drew Mortgage Assoc 3/24/– Received decision from IRS that I am unable to claim PMI due to AGI level 3/24/– Opened complaint with Revdex.com 3/29/– Complaint sent to H&R Block from Revdex.com 4/7/– Received email back from Revdex.com with H&R Block’s response to Complaint 4/8/– Spoke with [redacted] at H&R Block as to how to proceed and would like to have District Manager to review Return with [redacted] and myself to see errors by H&R Block [redacted] said she would send an email to him today Waiting on response In closing, I would like to have this resolved with H&R Block paying the IRS what is owed in the amount of $which includes the previous erroneous return that we received due to their errors and any additional taxes or penalties associated with our return.Regards, [redacted]
