Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint
ID ***, and have determined that this does not resolve my
complaint.
I totally reject the response from PNC. A decision was made by the bank
to close accounts, an exercise of the bank rights under its deposit account
agreement, an agreement we knowingly would have signed. And while the
bank does not have to provide a reason to close an account, I find it an
extremely poor practice to treat any customer in this manner. My wife and
I had accounts with PNC and its predecessor banks for approximately years, we
both maintain credit scores well above 800, we have owned our home for
years, we maintained deposit balances of moderate figures, we have obtained
mortgages home equity lines and auto loans with PNC. To the best of
my knowledge we have never had an overdraft of one of our accounts (unless
covered by overdraft protection) and we never had even a single loan
delinquency. With a 30+ year banking career under my belt, I know that by
any definition we are "sweet spot" consumer target for any financial
institution, yet this one force closed our accounts WITH NO REASON. I
still find the decision to be arbitrary, unethical and discriminatory.
I found MsM***s
response to be condescending and self-serving. I NEVER asserted that
PNC was discriminating on the basis of one of the cited protected classes, yet
the focus of her response was directed primarily at PNC's non-discrimination
policies and procedures. I suggested, and still believe, that the reason
for the closure is directly related to my employer and its sales of weapon
systems to the US government and its allies. The discrimination shown was
based on my association with a business in an industry that PNC has found to be
a risk to its reputation. Discrimination comes in all forms and doesn't
necessarily have to be tied to a protected class. MsM*** further
asserts that the decision was not based on my association with my employer - -
THEN WHAT WAS THE REASON? Banks don't just close solid account
relationships for no reason. It's stupid business! I feel totally
abused by the bank's compliance wonks in the back office and offended by the
bank's lack of backbone in standing up and saying what the reason is.
Hiding behind a letter that at its essence is nothing more than a lie, a
deliberate and knowing lie, is nothing short of unethical and speaks volumes
for the integrity held by senior management of the bank. They have
none.
After having had a very
satisfying banking relationship with PNC, both personally and professionally
for many years, I would NEVER recommend this bank to anyone. Their ethics
and morals may fall short of even *** *** and *** ***There is probably
a very good reason that our commercial bank officer and his regional manager
BOTH resigned from the bank at approximately the same time as my company's
business accounts were closed. They saw the moral turpitude of the bank's
culture and determined that their ethics and that of the bank simply did not
match up. I can only imagine the cesspool they and current employees must
have to work in
