I  read the letter from Instant Checkmate ( Customer Support ) and was glad that they gave me a full refund of $182.78 on 8/6/14 but after checking my credit card account I found out that Instant Checkmate recharged my account on 8/8/14. This is the kind of games that this company plays and is why I contacted the Revdex.com. All I asked for in the beginning was an email stating my membership was cancelled but for some reason they refused to do that. I feel Instant Checkmate is telling the Revdex.com anything they need to so the Revdex.com will drop the complaint. I want to thank the Revdex.com for all they do for people like me.

This company will sell your email address. I have been bombarded with spam email and regret giving them my info.

Terrible product! I was curious and did a search on my brothers and nephews. Once I confirmed their names, ages, birthdates, addresses and yes, that they were all related, it showed they all had criminal records. I requested the background report and every single record that came up was for a DIFFERENT PERSON in another state with different ages, addresses.... I NEVER found any information on any of my family members, although one was recently released from prison! Then, I got hit with 39 SPAM emails within 2 days. I know they all came as a result of signing on with CheckMate because I never get spam.

The company is non-responsive to my demand that they fully disclose all rates and exactly how much a consumer may have to pay for various pieces of information BEFORE they take money from the customer.  The company wants customers to be without full disclosure of the true costs  of their service so that the company can continue to charge for additional data that is available. All the company has to do is disclose in advance (prior to taking any money)  the additional charges it imposes for each piece of information. It would be very easy to give examples on their website. Their website advertising is deceitful and misleading. Full disclosure of customer costs will almost certainly result in lower revenue, so they decline a truthful and open approach. Think of the matter like this. I went to their web site and purchased a whole pie for an advertised price. I got one piece of the pie but then am told I have to pay more for the next piece of my pie, and then pay  again for the next piece and so on. I was tricked into buying "a pie" but all I really purchased was one piece of pie.  I can't speak for [redacted], but The [redacted] Attorney General will not condone this business practice. I will pursue this matter with [redacted] AG and appreciate the help of the Revdex.com in obtaining a refund for me.

Instant Checkmate.com compiles reports from millions of public records including information provided by state and local governments. All of the information contained in our reports is part of what is referred to as the "public record."
We do apologize for any confusion Mr. [redacted] may have experienced regarding our services. Some customers are under the impression that when you purchase a membership with our company you are paying for records; unfortunately, this is not the case. The service that is provided is actually the compiling of all the public records data and the sorting of the data into an easy to read format. When a customer pays for a public records search, we do guarantee that we will search every database available to us, however, we cannot guarantee which records will or will not show up in the final report since we are not in control of the records themselves. We simply display records as they are provided to us.
In addition, premium databases are also more expensive for us to access, so in an effort to keep our monthly membership costs down, we must charge a small, one-time access fee to compile premium reports for our customers.

I paid for one month and a pdf download. I received the receipt for the download but never got one for the one month payment. My first call promised me that I'd receive one within 24 hrs. I still didn't get one. I called again and was told I'd need to call another number on send an email to one of their email addresses--yet more time and effort on my part to get for what should have been automatic. And incidentally, their report on me (which I got to see what someone using a service like this would receive--a basic security and identity check on my part) was absolutely minimal. I would not recommend this company to anyone. Their service may be helpful but their business methods are appalling.

I registered and paid for six months in Sept 2013. Used for a few searches, then forgot it.
Today as March 2015, I noticed a charge to my bank account. Realized it is this company.
It has been recharged for two years of total about $240.
I did not use at all.
This company did not send invoices or anything.
I called to ask for a refund for the new charge happened today (as March 16), the customer service said: No refund as it is part of the term!
It is scam and robbery.

If you will reread my complaint, you will see that my complaint is not about the refund. (They are avoiding the issue. Their response is exactly what they keep saying on the phone when I called them. ) My complaint is about the way the company lures the customer in. Prior to "joining" (paying your $1.00) Instant Checkmate, Inc. shows several screens" 
 
After typing the phone number you are trying to get information on, the first screen shows a picture of the united states and zooms in on an area of the country the phone number came from.
 
 The next screen says, "Success". 
 
The next screen says, "We have found who's been calling you." 
 
Then it says to "click to show results." 
 
When you click, the name and address you have requested are displayed. However, they have blurred the information so that is not readable.  
 
The enticement is that if you pay the dollar, you will then be able to see the name clearly.  However, upon submitting the dollar, you are not shown that same information again with out the blurring. You are shown a screen that states, "no information was found."  
 
This is clearly a fraud. The initial screens clearly state "success" then "we found who's been calling you."  There are several screens stating they have found the information in their "database".  After paying, you DO NOT get the information they said they had. You are told, "NO INFORMATION WAS FOUND." There is no way to dispute that this is fraudulent.
