I find it absurd that Zara gets to determine whether or not the tear in a child's dress I owned for less than one week is due to a "defect" or not. Any damage to any article of clothing could be attributed to misuse versus a "defect." The dress could have been damaged before it was sent to me (perhaps it was returned by someone else?), during packaging or shipping, etc. I owned the dress for less than one week and my daughter wore it once. I noticed the tear after washing the dress on a gentle cycle and allowing it to air dry.] As a loyal Zara customer who's never returned anything before, I expect Zara to act in good faith and simply replace or refund the dress. I'm happy to return it if I can have a replacement or refund. But I'm certainly not sending it back and getting nothing in return.

The garment was handled normally, there were no special instructions on the website other than regular washing instructions, and like I originally stated, the top fell apart within a few hours of regular wear, before any washing. It is obvious from the pictures I sent that this is due to the fabric being a loosely woven fabric which wasn't properly reinforced at the seams to prevent fraying. This is definitely is an incidence of faulty manufacturing.

In order to achieve this, the quality of our product is never jeopardized. We have a clear returns policy when an item is faulty, to offer either a refund or an exchange. However, the decision as to whether it is a manufacturing fault is down to the manager’s discretion, who are trained in textiles and fabrics and who have the greatest contact and knowledge of the stock. However, we regret that we cannot help provide further assistance in this situation as our return policy clearly states that any product purchased from ZARA may be exchanged for another product or returned for a full refund within one month of its original purchase date. The jeans ripped on a very unlikely spot without any pressure on the spot where was not even worn out. This is clearly a defected product, which should not be considered as a regular return.
