Review: I had my taxes done by them & everytime I went to go pick up my paperwork it was alway an excuse why I couldn't have them or the manager wasn't there. I made an appointment w/her tonight to go at 6pm & she wasn't there.Desired Settlement: Either refund me my amount for doing my taxes or delivery them to my home at this point.

Review: It's been over a month I been waiting for rest of my money and liberty tax keep giving me the run a around about boss being out state and that no one knows when he coming back. I don't know what's going but I need rest of my money. I been waiting patiently for my money and still did t get itDesired Settlement: I would like my full reimbursement that I'm suppose to get. They messed up on my application and I'm very upset and need my money.

Review: I filed my 2012 taxes with Liberty taxes as I have done with them in the past as MARRIED FILING SEPARATELY. They proceeded to efile my return on 01/**/2013 and a refund was credited to my account around February 2013. About a month later I went to collect my tax documents from their offices and I filed them in my files. However around June 2013 I submitted my tax documents for student loan application and we discovered that the return was prepared as HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD.I Immediately went to Liberty tax offices to inquire why my status was changed. The lady whose name was signed on my documents as the preparer said she had not personally prepared the return but one of her subordinates had ,but she had signed the managers name. She said it was standard practice to do that. Anyway she said the reason they changed the status from MARRIED FILNG SEPARATE to HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD was so that I could get a bigger refund since I had claimed two of my three kids. She said I could leave it like that because quote MANY PEOPLE GET AWAY WITH IT. I told her I needed the correct documentation because I needed to apply for student loans. Besides since my wife lives with me at the same address and we are not separated I thought it would be illegal. She said if submitted an amended tax return they would not be liable for the shortfall because I signed the documents. When I started filing with them in 2009 they told me they charge the high fees because they assume responsibility if anything goes wrong with their return .They said they would pay any amount resultant from their mistake. This was repeated to me again when I was trying to negotiate their fees in other filing years. I told them my wife lives with me and that she would file for my other son just as we had done in previous years. Now after the amendment was done I now owe more than three thousand dollars. I did not ask them to change my filing status in the first instance so I want them to be liable for the shortfall.Desired Settlement: I want them to be liable for the shortfall of $3223.00

Review: I brought one of my w2 to liberty tax service so I was supposed to bring in the next w2, before I went back someone told me not to do bring any business to them because they rip people off. I went back and asked the worker named [redacted] to give me back the 1st w2 which I handed to her previously, she replied she will not give it to me because the [redacted] bureau will not allow them to give it back to me. she asked me if I have the second one, I should hand it to her now due to the fact that she already submitted the 1st one and the [redacted] is waiting for the next one, and if I don't give it to her, my refund will be forfeited. I did not know if she was telling the truth or lye, therefore, I gave it to her. she said the refund will be generated within 3 weeks. in 5 weeks, I got a call from them and told to come get the money, they subtracted $460.00 fee out of my return that is $1,206. I believe they ripped me off and mislead in an unprofessional manner. when I tried to fight for the rest of the money, they told me that the [redacted] bureau ceased the rest of the money and they gave me a check that is was not from [redacted] instead from their own bank. it is only one employee working there and I can never have a chance to speak to no manager and/or supervisor. while I was disputing for my money, there were several people who came for the same issue. I would kindly ask you if you could help me to get back my money or to reprimand those people to stop abusing the tax payees by stealing their money. I thank you in advance for your understanding and your cooperation.I am looking forward to hearing from you soon.Desired Settlement: Their original fees are $100.00 to file the tax. My return was only $7.000.00 all together. They can subtract their fee of $100.00 and give me the remaining balance that is $360.00 back from what they deducted from my return. I am supposed to get $1,200 back and they only gave me $745.00.Thank you in advance for your help.

Review: I went to Liberty Tax Service on the evening of January **, 2014 to have my taxes prepared by a lady named [redacted]. While she was preparing my taxes I asked her about the fees that they charged and if they are high. She informed me that it was against the law for a business to charge those high fees and that the IRS cracked down on that so I said okay good. At that point in time I felt confident that my taxes wouldn't cost me an arm and leg. [redacted] then had an issue with the school credit part and asked a co-worker to come assist her. (I don't remember his name but he was a tall white guy whom I found out later did the same thing to other people that he did to me). He helped with my school credit and finished the taxes up for her. When I asked how much the fee was he said that 34. I said hundred? He then said no dollars. I was okay with that. On a post it note he wrote that I would be receiving [redacted] back from Federal. About a week later I called to asked him again how much was the fee he charged me and he told me that he couldn't tell me because he sent my tax papers off to the warehouse and that he would have to request it back so I told him never mind I will check once I got home. When I looked it over with my husband my paper said that my Federal refund was $7795. So that means that was charged $1034. I called Liberty Tax Service and spoke to [redacted]. I asked her how much I charged and didn't come right out and say it at first. She came up with the same number I did. I reminded her of what she told me that they aren't allowed to charge those high fees anymore and she was upset. She was cursing and very apologetic to me saying that he has done this before and she wants her customers to come back to her. She told me that $34 was the bank fee so that means that he charged me $1000 to do my taxes (which is ridiculous). She said that she was going to speak to her boss and to call the next day. The following day I called and she told me that her boss said once I receive my refund they will give me the difference in cash. On February *, 2014 I received my refund and I called to find out when I was going to get the rest of my cash. [redacted] told me she has to wait for the boss to bring it to her but he's busy because he runs other locations as well. Ive been calling every week since then to no avail. My last time calling was Wednesday February ** and [redacted] then told me that the boss said they trying to work it out to where I can get it back next year when I file my taxes. This is unacceptable because I am never filing my taxes there again. The boss nor anyone from management ever contacted me and Ive tired on numerous occasions.

I called the corporate office and they refunded me my asking price.

Review: This franchise is completely unethical. I paid $200 only to receive a lot of dissatisfaction from them and their services. I've called them many times and have been as polite as possible. This has been going on for several weeks now. I originally bought a $60 Groupon for their services and I did look up reviews but found they were not reviewed so I took my chances. I went to get an estimate, and got one for the state return to be $1000. After doing some shopping, I decided they had the best return offered and decided to try them out. So I went to another branch of theirs, but my Groupon was no longer valid since it was so close to the April ** deadline. I accepted this and paid $200 for them to do my return anyways. My return consisted of ONLY TWO W2's from two different states. All the representative had to do was punch in those numbers and he even told me that I could do this on my own or use H&R Block software to do the same. I agreed but said I liked using tax services even though my returns are easy to process on my own. I had good experiences before. My federal return and NY City return came on time and was correct. The State return came a few months late and instead of receiving $1000, I only got $200. The state had made corrections to the return Liberty tax had filed for me. I went back to the office to understand and see what could be done. My experience thus far was positive except for the concern on my return. The manager [redacted] was nice to me and understanding. He said he would call me back the next day and email me after corporate took a look at the return. He did not. Their office is only open once a week. I emailed him since he hadn't responded. Another week went by and I called again and was able to get him on the phone. I asked for a refund or some compensation. He offered a discount for next year's preparation but I already had a Groupon that I was not using so it would be pointless for me to get more coupons! He said he would get back to me about what he could do. He did not. I called the headquarters to file a complaint. The manager [redacted] called me back and told me I should feel grateful that the state did not impose fees on the return since it was incorrect. My conversation with her felt like she was trying to be accommodating by saying, "I agree and can see your dissatisfaction and you have every right to be unhappy but I see no problem." She told me that it worked out for everyone since the state did not impose fees, which Liberty Tax would have been responsible for. I then asked to speak to her manager, but her response was the usual, "I am the manager. There is no one else here." Can I contact the regional manager? "There is no regional manager." Who do you report to? "They are not available right now." This is where I am thinking the customer service is terrible. Why is it impossible to speak to your supervisor? I managed to get some names out of her of the owners and she told me she would pass along my information to them but I feel this will be equally as fruitless.Desired Settlement: Refund of preparation fees.

Review: In the beginning of February I brought my W2s from work and school to the Liberty tax in Hempstead to an employee who had done my taxes the year before [redacted]. He put the through my w2s and showed me a return amount to $1,100 he was not able to complete the return because I did not have my account number for direct deposit so he told me to call the next day with my account number to complete it. A snow storm hit that Monday I was suppose to pick up my copy of the tax return so I went ton Tuesday he was outside in his car so another employee called and asked him to come in he came in handed me y w2s with no copy of my tax return so he asked another employee to print it out. I took the paperwork and left. Upon arriving home I looked over the paper work where it sayed I would be receiving $73 for state and $419 for federal. I then called Liberty tax and spoke with [redacted] about it he said he didn't know why and he would put through an ammendment I think proceed to tell him about how unprofessional he is and this company. The next day I walked in and poke to the office a [redacted] who told me she would put through the amendment and speak with [redacted]. After looking over my return she then realized [redacted] did not include my school w2s in the tax return which lead me to receiving the wrong amount. I went into the office the following week to get my copy of the amended tax return where she gave me the address to mail the paper work to the IRS I then asked why they were not mailing it and she said " I will not be held responsible for people not getting there money" so I then stated you charge $234 to file taxes and your not waiving the fee nor sending out my amendment? Instead of giving her a time to reply where I began to get very angry I took all my paperwork and left. This morning I sent my amended taxes through priority mail paying $6.50 which I think is ridiculous. They got paid $234 for not completing their services. I feel robbed and frustrated. I am a student and need all the money I am due. Them getting $234 for not completing their services is not fair. That money could have bought me textbooks or even grocerys. I will never go there again but after researching I see I am not the only one with complaints and feel as though they should be investigated. I come to you for a sense of justice from a young college student.Desired Settlement: I would like a complete refund of the money they charged or atleast partial refund.

Sincerely,

Review: In February of 2015, I went to liberty tax service to do my taxes. I was assigned to [redacted]. After sitting down for 5 minutes she stated that my taxes were not easy and that she would need some time with it and we would schedule for a different date while she worked on it in the interim. After countless attempts to meet up with [redacted] via phone and email I went to her offices and let her know that I needed my W-2 along with my wife's w-2 for refinance purposes and that I still needed her to do my taxes. I was told that the previous person working there had it locked in their drawer and that she did not have the key for it. This went on for a few weeks. Finally she got around to doing our taxes at 10:00 PM on April [redacted] and had my wife and I sign our tax papers. She then told us we would get our copies and W-2's later that week. Early in May I went back to the office to find that the office was closed down. I contacted the main office numerous times after that and [redacted] on her personal cell which she uses for business for days. At some point on May [redacted] finally responded to one of my numerous text messages and stated that she was away on business and that she would be back on May [redacted] and that I would be contacted on May [redacted] to get both my wife and my papers back along with copies of our tax return. She has since picked up one of my 20+ phone calls saying she was away. I have tried texting and instant messaging her since in the last three weeks which I see by her status that it was indeed read. I have also contacted the corporate main liberty tax service 8+ times and every time I get an answer. That "we a re sorry sir, we are putting in a ticket to the owner for immediate response". I too have also been in contact with the main corporate headquarters of liberty tax service to no avail. I have been trying to get my bank paperwork for a refinance for 3 months and cannot do so because a business that I spent $650 on to file my taxes has my documentation hostage. On top of all this, I have still yet to receive my tax refund and have contacted the irs and corporate to see if there was a tax return filed which I believe may never have been done. The customer service, integrity, possible tax preparer fraud, potentially criminal ripoff if I did indeed pay for a service that was not done is completely ridiculous. I hope that the Revdex.com can help resolve this issue rather quickly. Thank you for your time.Desired Settlement: I would like my $650 refunded if my taxes were not in fact filed, a letter from the organization that I hired to do my taxes to the IRS explaining their failure to do their job, if there are penalties by the IRS to be paid and also my ORIGINAL W-2 forms and tax return papers back(if they were indeed filed)

Review: Hello,I recently filed my taxes with this company for the second year in a row and for the past year (2014) my taxes were filed with mistakes in it such as:-my son was listed as "daughter" -address misspelled and no apartment number listed (I live in a building)-He informed me a certain amount was to be return, but it was lower than we agreed-He failed to inform me that I owed the state (money was taken out of the return, but not paper trail about it.I asked the tax consultant and manager ([redacted] or [redacted]) to fix via phone call and also via text messaging after he failed to respond or return my calls (not back to back). All I want is for my paperwork to get revised and re-sent to me, since he charges about $400 + dollars for my taxes (which I think a bit pricey), but I trusted it was going to be professionally done, but Im very unhappy with the service. thanks for your help.Desired Settlement: I would like to get revised paperwork with corrected information (mentioned above) and the $400 I paid for.

Review: My complaint is with the service I was provided by this company, which was very unprofessional. I went in for my tax returns to be filed and first they could not accommodate me with a direct deposit for my refund amounts because of their software causing me to have to take a check for these amounts. They charge a ridiculous amount for the check to distributed to you. Then after a week and a half I find out that my return has not been filed at all, I call to find out what happened at no one returns my calls. Then a person from the [redacted] office, where I have never been, tells me that they are going to take over and file my return. Had I not called I would not have known that my taxes were never filed by the preparer who sent me out the door with a printed copy of my returns that I had already signed. I found this to be negligent and unprofessional, that no one called me back when I asked questions. Then I was told by a manager that I would get partial money back for the inefficiency, and they ended up taking more money than they should have. I ask the lady at the desk where the rest of the money is that they owe me, and she calls the manager and tells me she will send an email with the issue. The office in [redacted] has been very unprofessional, I have made several calls and either they have no idea of what is going on or they don't return or answer calls.

Product_Or_Service: tax preparation and filingDesired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Other (requires explanation)

I want the money that they owe me for the initial to do my taxes which was $150 and was told I would get $50 back for the delay. But Because of the $243 they have charged me, I want $160 for the overcharging and the negligence, and just bad service they gave me.

Review: Toward the end of January (1/30/2015)1 went to the “Liberty Tax Office” at [redacted],[redacted], in order to file 2014 taxes. I had with me, in hand, each item I presumed I neededas documentation for filing of taxes for tax year 2014. I am a combat (Vietnam) 80% disabled Veteranand my “total income” (line #22) was [redacted]00. A few days later! relocated to [redacted] because duringwinter months my wounds suffer from an arthritic condition. My mail was forwarded to where I rentedan apartment and I found with-in a document from the [redacted]which I had forgotten about and also came to me about the second week of February. This document(form 1099-G) reflected $[redacted]00 that I had received in ‘unemployment benefits in January 2014. Iwent to a (free) [redacted]. service to amend my return to reflect this additional amount, via a 1040X. Thisbrought my “Adjusted gross income to $[redacted].I was told by the trained tax advisor that the “Liberty Tax Service” in [redacted] should have well knownit was completely not necessary for me to file a return AT ALL since my “Total of standard and simpledeductions was (well) less than $11,400. there was no need for me to file, and therefore be charged$[redacted]00, to file taxes for tax year 2014. This should have been very apparent to the Liberty Tax Office inPittsburgh, they simply took my money for nothing at all!I will include a copy of the return which was erroneously filed by liberty Tax Service, [redacted].[redacted] and the 1040X for your review, at your request. It’s a shame that Liberty Tax preparers prey on dis-abled Veterans, with that and [redacted] Income(both non-taxable) for PROFIT, when they know at a glance there is no necessity to file a return on taxable)for PROFIT, when they know at a glance there is no necessity to file a return. Desired Settlement: return my $257.OD plus the $25. complaint fee!Total $282.00

Based on the information my office had when Mr. [redacted] filed his taxes with us. Mr. [redacted] was required to file a tax return on his retirement income. To resolve Mr. [redacted]’s complaint he needs to provide my office with a copy of his original Retirement allocation. I asked him have his retirement administrator forward a copy to me. To date I have not received this information. When the requested information is received; if it proves he does not need to file I will make the appropriate corrections to Mr. [redacted]’s filing

Review: On July 28th 2014 I received a notice from the VA. Dept. of Taxation regarding a discrepancy on my Individual Income return for the tax year of 2010. My taxes were filed that year through Liberty Tax Services. I contacted Liberty Tax via phone and was instructed by an employee to present the notice, in person, to their office. I presented said notice to their office on July 29th 2014 and was told that a Liberty Tax service member would contact me in regards to this issue. I have since called their office twice a week, as they are only open on Tuesdays and Thursdays. And I have either left, several, messages on voice mail or with an employee who stated they were there to "just answer the phone." When I have spoken with an employee they have stated that the matter is being looked into and someone would contact me by the end of that day. I have been told that on 3 separate occasions, and to date, no one has contacted me. I contacted their corporate office at ###-###-#### and filed a complaint (ref#[redacted]) about the franchise and was told that the franchise owner would contact me, it has been over a week, no one has contacted me. I called the franchise office again today, was put on hold, and then the call was disconnected, as if I were hung up on. The deadline, from the state, to resolve this matter was August 27th 2014, yesterday.Desired Settlement: I would like their franchise owner to contact me and let me know why my taxes were not filed properly. I would also like Liberty Tax Service to pay the interest and fines caused by their mistake and complete, blatant, lack of effort to take responsibility for and correct this mistake.

They should tell people that they do a credit check on you for to get the advance. I asked the question they said no. Charged me all that money. And got turned down. I could have filed online. They are using false advertising to lure you in. But I asked do you do a credit check. So yes I'm upset. I would have never went there.

Review: I paid Liberty Tax Service $213.00 to file MY fathers state and federal tax's for 2012.He passed away 11-10-12 and I am the Trustee. This was on March 4 2013.Since that date I have received 2 notices from the Franchise Tax Board stating that I needed to File or I will be Penalized. I have tried several times to get in touch by phone, and never got called back. I went to the Location where I fifed, and its no longer there. So they took my money and moved away and didn't even file my tax forms, witch I paid for then to E-File.Desired Settlement: I just want my $213.00 back so I can pay some one else to file my forms

Review: Lliberty Tax advertises a fast, friendly, and accurate guarantee. It took 6 weeks just to file our taxes and we went weeks without hearing from anyone. It was a horrible experienceDesired Settlement: We want our money back.

Review: On Monday, January 20th 2014, I received a flyer selling the services of "Liberty Tax" located at [redacted]. I live in a HOA run condominium complex which is posted at our only egress onto the property as "PRIVATE PROPERTY: NO TRESSPASSING." Furthermore, not only is our property posted, but my door specifically is posted with "NO SOLICITATION." On the above date a representative delivering the advertisement not just placed the flyer upon my door, but took it upon themselves to blatantly cover the sign with said flyer. I called the office on the advertisement to complain and was informed that someone would comeback to remove it that day. As of January 21st, 2014, The company had failed to remove their advertisement from my door. I had to recall the office and again speak with a "[redacted]" about them not removing their flyer, and I was guaranteed that it would be removed by the end of the day. Today, January 22nd 2014, the flyer still has not been removed by the offending company. I then contacted the owner of the franchise, a [redacted], and voiced my displeasure at the situation to which she had asked, "You haven't taken it off the door yet?" and proceed to chuckle at the notion. I was then advised in a tone that did not belie sincerity, "Ya, I'll be out later to get it." I feel that this extends beyond their 1st amendment right to free speech as it is an obvious invasion of privacy considering the not one, but two posted signs on the property.Desired Settlement: I desire that the flyer be removed at once from my "NO SOLICTATION" sign and a written apology by the franchise owner over the mishandling of the situation.

[redacted],

Yes, our employees did put a flyer on this tenant’s door.

Yes, he did call and I was not in the office when he called. He was told that we would make sure that we did not come back and put any more on his door. That we would make sure to put his address on our Do Not Contact list.

When I was told of the situation it was described to me that the gentleman was not happy, and it was thought that he wanted to discuss the situation with someone from our business. His tone was such that I did not want any of my employees to have to go and have him express his displeasure at them. I told them that I would go there later that day, the 21st and talk with him. Due to the nature of our business, I was at another office all day, and I did not get to his home on the 21st. He called me on the 22nd, and yes, I did question him with “You haven’t taken it off the door yet?” It seemed interesting that he would not have removed it by then. I went over to his home shortly thereafter, and took the flyer off his door. I knocked and I rang the doorbell so that I might personally apologize for disturbing him, but there was no answer.

We have his address on our Do Not Contact list, which we did at the time of his first phone call.

Review: A few days after I had my taxes done I recieved a phone call from Liberty Tax Services saying that I needed to come back in and re-sign because the woman that filed my taxes file them wrong; reason being she was in a hurry to get to her second job. In the end I had to pay out a little over $80 extra to have the mistake corrected. On Thursday April 24th they called me to let me know that my check was availble for pick up and that they were there Tuesdays and Thursdays 10-2. Since I work Monday-Friday 8-5 I couldn't make it and asked if it could be mailed. It could not. I asked if someone could pick it up for me and they said yes as long as whoever was picking it up had my driver's license so I told them that my sister would be there within the hour. My sister drove from [redacted] to [redacted] to get my license and was back in [redacted] and at the Liberty Tax by 12-12:30 where the doors were locked, the open sign was shut off and no one would answer the phone. I spent 1-1.5 hours trying to call and no one answered. Today (4/29/14) I started calling them at 10:05 no one would anwser later to find out the guy was at an appointment. I left a message with my name and number to have someone call me. I missed the call since I was working and they called me by some guy's name not even close to what my name is and the only thing they said in the message was that they are there Tueday's and Thursday's 10-2. I immediately called them back within less than 5 mins of missing the call and spent the next 2 hours calling and at that point I could not even leave a message. It took my father calling them and telling them to call me in order for me to recieve an answer. That is the first time I have ever gone there to have my taxes done and after I pick up my refund check, it will be the last time I go back.Desired Settlement: I feel I should not be penalized $80 because the woman that filed my taxes did it wrong. To some people, like myself, that is a lot of extra money to pay out due to someone else's error. I wish that the company would have better customer service and that they would be easier to contact. They should be a little more careful that information is entered correctly the first time regardless if they are in a hurry or not. They are there to do that specific job.

Review: I was over charged on my tax refund from Liberty tax. My total refund was for 831.00 and they charged me 469.65 to file they took extra fees out thta they didnt tell me about so my refund was supose to be 426.00 givin to me but they only gave me 365.00 Now ive been ripped off big time and I would like some of that money back if possible and if thats not possible my compaint is good enough. Thank you..

Desired Settlement: All I want is the 65.00 that was suppose to be on my refund check. Then I will be happy unless you could possible get me more cause I have 3 kids to take care of by my self..Thank you and god bless.
