Liberty Tax Service Reviews (212)

This morning I filed a complaint. The business I complained about has reached out to me. Would like to give them time to resolve issue before formal complaint. Is there anyway of deleting complaint? Have no problem giving them a few more days and cooperate. Sorry to be bother, but thank you for the...

quick response. Have a nice day??

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 16, 2015/07/03) */
We scan all documents that are brought with to the appointment when the return is prepared and a review of Ms [redacted]'s file did not show we had the document in question. It is still possible it was overlooked.
So I have refunded her prep...

fees along with an amount for interest.
Ms [redacted] had requested that we pay the tax bill that is due. Our policy is that the tax is always the taxpayers responsibility.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 18, 2015/07/18) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I know we included the documents in question when we had our taxes done at Liberty. I wouldn't have gotten the Revdex.com involved otherwise.
Thank you.

The other office and myself have been unable to get in contact with Ms. [redacted]. She has not responded to calls from the office or my emails. I’m not sure if there is any further action that we can take until she contacts your organization again.

I have stated and sent a prior answer on this matter.  Whether a salesman is still employed or not is not the issue when there are succinct contracts and agreements signed by both parties at the time of sale.  These documents are attached.  While we are in compliance with all signed agreements we at Stealth Solar would like to go even further to reach out to our clients.  We have taken a long hard look at the letters by our client and have extended another offer over and above our contractual responsibility.  We have attached this offer and sent to the client for their hopeful agreement so they too can become a satisfied Stealth Solar client

As stated in our previous communication the client is saving over 400% of his guarantee.  There is no saving issue.  The client also has not submitted updated or current utility bills since our last communication.  As for monitoring as soon as the leasing company that owns the monitoring equipment sends a work order we can examine it to see if there are any problems.  This is between the client and the leasing company.  As for any attached file we do not see this file to access whatever they are referring to.

They should tell people that they do a credit check on you for to get the advance. I asked the question they said no. Charged me all that money. And got turned down. I could have filed online. They are using false advertising to lure you in. But I asked do you do a credit check. So yes I'm upset. I would have never went there.

At this time, I have been contacted...

directly by Liberty Tax Service regarding complaint ID [redacted], however my complaint has NOT been resolved because:
They are unable to provide me with documentation for the tax discrepancies that they filed.

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.
Sincerely,

per a phone call from the company, they stated that a full refund was already provided.

March 2, 2017To Whom It May Concern; cfo [redacted]This is a response to complaint ID# [redacted]The original tax return for this client did have a mistake on it. However, once the mistake was caught by the state the clients were contacted. The state gave them a link online explaining what needed...

to be corrected. The clients contacted us last week and we explained that we could fix the problem as soon as they brought us in the notice from the state. They brought in the notice on Monday, February 27, 2017. We immediately fixed the mistake and faxed in the information to the state while the clients were in our office. At this time we also issued a partial refund of our fees. The corrected mistake also put more money back in our clients pocket. We offered fast customer service and client satisfaction. We do not give our clients the run around, but we do have to wait on our clients response at times. This can seem like we are putting them off and for that we apologize. We are a year around service and strive to have 100% customer satisfaction.Thank You,Tara T[redacted]Office Manager

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
My wife, [redacted],
and I read the response from Stealth Solar. What a pack of lies. My wife called
our phone company and got proof of her phone calls to Stealth with times and
dates, so their claim that we never contacted them is false. Not only that, but
her first call was to [redacted], who was their salesman at the time. We find
it rather peculiar that when a person has a problem with a service, it seems
that the person who made the deal no longer works for that company. Seems to be
the rule rather than the exception. It was Mr. [redacted] who gave her the next
number to call. That number was none other than [redacted] the owner of
Stealth Solar. Mr. [redacted] was quite put out that she had the audacity to call
him rather than Customer Service. Makes one wonder if bad blood had developed
between boss and employee. Mr. [redacted] then
transferred the call to Mr. [redacted] in Customer Service. I will at this
a time refer you to an enclosed note that [redacted] composed describing this
menagerie of affairs. There are a great many things about this fiasco that
bother us. We were led astray by the sincerity of promise we were given through
the presentation of this technology which was new to us. Facts were
misconstrued to make this deal Seem like it was the answer to our electric bill
problem and also to make us feel that we were helping with the
"green" movement. Now we are being told that we signed an agreement
to produce only 17% of the electricity we use. Logic tells us that paying
$173.97 per month on a 20 year lease is probably more than the 17% covers.
On top of that we are required to clean the panels on a steep tile roof. At 71
years of age, that along with fighting and cleaning up after pigeons nesting
under the panels it is certainly not worth the trouble involved.
If no improvement or
agreement can be reached, we will be forced to do
something else. 1 don't know exactly what at present. We are hoping
someone can advise us.
Regards,
[redacted]

The people at the business is very unprofessional. Picking up workers off the streets with no qualifying or work experience with tax's . working with people social security number bank account numbers, putting false information on tax return

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.
Sincerely,
[redacted]...

I am sorry Mr. [redacted] doesn't agree. He has paid me zero monies at this point, we have refunded everything he paid us and given him FREE services beyond that. His failure to pay his taxes is NOT my responsibility. Liberty Tax Service does not mail out statements from either the IRS or the state in question. There is nothing we can do to help. Since he has paid us no monies my obligation to continue to assist at no charge was discouraged by his communication with my organization. I suggest he find someone willing to assist him in the manner in which he feels is correct....we have tried but he continues to claim we provide nothing in writing. This is simply not true, the IRS and the state send him letters...we DO NOT. With regards, Mitch B[redacted], CEO, Managing Partner.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: The owner of this business is more intrested in defending his position with a long drawn out manifesto.  I will not use Liberty Tax again. My reccomendation to all that read this is to stick to an accounting professional.  My only question is does Liberty Tax use a third party to electronically send my info and if so, was there something I signed authorizing the sharing of my personal information?
Sincerely,
[redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:I am responding now to the owner of the little car wash.   I appreciate him getting into this issue since he is the owner and the proverbial buck starts with him.   It does seem however that he is trying to intimidate,  but that is fine I have dealt with much more difficult issues in my life than him.   If you don't like the comments about your employees that is really to bad,  this is America and truth is truth.   You say that customers cannot expect cashiers to see every possible potential issue on cars coming through and yet you expect customer who are driving to the wash entrance to see your little sign.   This is humorous and insulting.   If you survey your customers you would see that nobody reads the sign because they are not meant to.   Its just a legal maneuver to get out of paying claims.   Research of [redacted] and Revdex.com claims against your business confirms this.   You can give an ultimatum but you will pay half of parts and labor.   This has to be in writing since I know how much writing means to you on your warning signs.   It would be nice if you would state that cars older than five years shouldn't use your wash.   This wouldn't be prudent since I am sure these "old cars"  compromise a large quantity of your business. You can say how much customer service means to you,  but the truth is your employees and yourself only responded when the issue was escalated by me.   I am not going to let this issue go and I will not be silenced.   I stand up for the hoards of others who for whatever reason chose not to fight.   If I ever find out that one of your employees speaks to my wife like your manager did there will be an issue.   Age discrimination and verbal bullying are taken very seriously by my family and by society as a whole.

As stated in the attached documentsw signed and initialed by the client we were to save 24%.  We have done much more than that.

Revdex.com   Re: Complaint #[redacted]   Mr. [redacted]                 First I'd like to say that I appreciate the opportunity to respond. I of course am limited in the how full I can respond since this involves confidential...

information. However since it is Mr. [redacted] who has initiated this complaint, I will take this as his permission to at least discuss in broad strokes his information Yes, [redacted] had his taxes prepared by my office. Yes, I did charge a fee to prepare and file his his taxes Yes, his refund has taken longer than 21 days. Many Tax returns are funded by the IRS within 21 days. [redacted] even referred to knowing this in his complaint  This however is not a guarantee that his refund will happen in 21 days or less. IRS Best Practice Guidelines as well as my franchise by laws all prevent me, my staff from making this promise insinuated or otherwise. This is also clearly stated in the documentation [redacted] signed. As to why his refund was postponed. His return seems to have been stopped to request additional information. One of many reason why I cant guarantee a refund date. The IRS is not restricted to the use of only one phone number. 1-800-829-1040 happens to be the easiest to remember and is the general contact number for the IRS. There is also more specific numbers to specific departments posted on the web. Regardless of the number used by [redacted] the IRS is known for having a long hold time and confusing repetitive prompts. I am unclear how the fact that the IRS has more than one phone number or has long hold times is a point of contention with me and my office. I have no control over their automated system or the hold time offered to [redacted]. To change this it would literally take an act of congress Bad address on his tax return?  The only standing guideline from the IRS regarding the address to use on a tax return is that it is in fact, their address. There is no IRS requirement to use only the address used on the W-2. Case in point, [redacted] like many others have multiple tax forms including w-2’s that all have different address. There is no way to have a requirement for the same address to be used if there is often no consistent address. Part of the process of having taxes prepared with Liberty is having the client prepare what we call the Client Data Sheet or CDS. This form is where the client’s specific information to file the return is collected. This is always done by the client filling in the information themselves. The statement the client signed at the bottom of the CDS states it is with this information that there return will be prepared. This record provided by the client is the master reference and is used to verify against prior the submitting to the IRS. The address used on [redacted]s return matched the address he provided as his address.  The issue with that address not being accurate is due to the client himself supplied the wrong address Letter stating he did not use the Healthcare market place. [redacted] indicated on his signed CDS that he did not have Marketplace/Obama care insurance. His return was prepared according to that answer and no additional forms or letters were sent to the IRS. A letter stating no market place coverage  IS NOT a standard requirement set by the IRS There are only two possible reasons the IRS would request a letter of this nature since First possibility being The IRS has records under his name and tax ID that the client did have coverage through the marketplace at some point in time. This information may be inaccurate and [redacted] is the victim of ID fraud (this would also lend to the IRS requiring him to prove it is him calling about his refund by verifying his address on his return. Since he provided the wrong address to be used I can see how he could construe this as a requirement to match his w-2) or, [redacted] actually did have health coverage purchased from the marketplace. If this is the case, then the IRS is requesting the associated forms be completed and submitted. I would also have no reasonable way of knowing in that the client provided inaccurate information or was the victim of identity theft Second possibility. [redacted] was randomly selected like many filers to be audited. In the case of an audit the IRS will request additional documentation. If this is true than I again would have no reasonable way to know the IRS would select him for an audit. We did however advise [redacted] of the possibility of an audit at the time of signing. Perjury. In our communications I had at one time pointed out that I did in fact have the documents signed by him affirming the information on his return. His response to this was “Yes we missed it when signed but we were just shown where to sign and we did   Shame on us for missing it.”. I responded that one of the documents he signed actual stated  "Under penalties of perjury, I declare that I have examined a copy of my electronic individual income tax return and accompanying schedules and statements for the tax year ending December 31, 2016, and to the best of my knowledge and belief, it is true, correct ...". I told him I didn’t see the rational he used. In claiming that he didn’t check what he was signing then he was actually committing perjury. To me it seams outlandish to use this as a defense.  While I can sympathize with Mr. [redacted]’s situation. All of his complaints are rooted in him providing inaccurate information, his choice to and admitting that he signs documentation without reading or verifying it first, and/or for reasons outside of my control. While in my second response to him I may have curt in my reply but I was somewhat taken back by his insistence that we somehow should have known that he had supplied wrong information and that we should have somehow “catch” his mistakes. This amounts to mind reading and I stated such in my response.  My offer still stands from my original response. As part of my guarantee we offer correspondence and audit assistance. I will need the copies of the letter from the IRS as to draft an accurate response. I will not however be bullied into refunding a service fee for doing exactly what was promised for the client. File his tax return with the information he provided.   Martin C[redacted] CEO/ ERO Liberty Tax Service

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because: At no point or time, did Liberty Tax Services provide ANY of the information that they claim to have said to me in any form or fashion of written documentation. Furthermore, I stated in my conversations with Diania multiple times that I would pay any back taxes I owed, due to their mistakes when they filed my taxes in 2012, as long as I was provided with the information in writing stating the amount owed, as well as indicating that this would clear up any debt pertaining to the back taxes, which I would have paid in 2013 out of my 2012 tax return if they would have filed it correctly. Liberty Tax Service failed to follow through on their written guarantee. Furthermore, when my wife and I met with Mel on February 6, 2016 to file our taxes; Mel stated at that time she had spoken with the state of Kansas, and that according to their records we did not owe any back taxes. Once again I requested this information in writing stating that we did not owe any back taxes, and Mel stated that she would contact the state of Kansas again on February 8, 2016 and have them fax over a letter to her office stating that we were free and clear of any back taxes, and once again Liberty Tax Services failed to follow through on their verbal claim.
The common theme here is simple: A Liberty Tax Services spokesperson claims one day that I owe one amount, then it’s a different amount on another day, then it is a zero balance on yet a different day, and then there is yet another amount due on another day; and each time they have failed to put ANY of these statements in writing.  No person with a sound mind would take them at their “word” when they continually operate in such an untrustworthy and unprofessional manner. Any reputable company would simply put the information in writing to cover themselves, as well as cover the consumer. This would avoid any he said/she said disagreements if they would have done this as requested. The owner Mitch B[redacted] is fully aware of this, and if the proper steps would have been taken, as well as if the first preparer would have performed their job correctly, my family would not be in the emotional and financial distress that we have been under for the last four years due to Liberty Tax Services mistakes.
I gave written permission for Liberty Tax Services to operate and contact the IRS and the state of Kansas on my behalf. I contacted the IRS in February concerning my 2015 tax return which was withheld due to the errors made by Liberty Tax Services in 2012. I also received a letter from the IRS in March 2016 stating that my refund was withheld due to back taxes from 2012. So, for Liberty Tax Services to imply that my refund is being withheld due to any other issue besides the ongoing issue of my 2012 income taxes being prepared incorrectly; is completely and utterly false, and I have “WRITTEN DOCUMENTATION” from the IRS stating as much. I have read and reread Liberty Tax Services written guarantee, and at no point does it state if they make a mistake on your taxes, and there is an ongoing issue due to the mistakes that they made, that they have the option to elect not to “deal” with that consumer anymore because they’re tired of dealing with said person. Actually it states the opposite, stating “year round support”, satisfaction guarantee”, “accuracy guarantee”, “free consultation”, “audit assistance”, and correspondence assistance”.
As long as there is an ongoing issue due to my 2012 tax return, due to mistakes made by Liberty Tax Services; Liberty Tax Services is “OBLIGATED” due to their written contract which my wife and I signed with them at the time of filing our 2012 taxes. Liberty Tax Services is currently in “breach of contract”, and if a suitable solution cannot be met, we will be force to take whatever means necessary in order to have this issue resolved.Sincerely,[redacted]
