To make a long story short, I have been a State Farm customer for years with the same agent The rest of my family has been a customer with the same agent for even longer I had no problems until recently I had a monthly re-occuring payment being taken out using my debit card When my bank finally made the switch over to the chip card, it had escaped my mind to call State Farm to update my card, as they were ALWAYS so good about getting in touch with me in the past (did I mention I had been with them years?!)They NEVER contacted me about my card, even after I contacted the on call service to make a payment once I realized the error On call told me they were unable to help, but they would be contacting my agent and have them call me first thing Monday morning The still did not call I did not receive any letters, emails, phone calls etcI found it a bit convenient that after my policy had been expired for over days, they finally started calling me After speaking with my rep, I was informed that because I had "no coverage" for over days, they would have to re-run all of my information to see if I still qualify for their insuranceMind you, I have not had an accident, ticket, or even been pulled over in over yearsThey ran all of my info while on the phone with me The good news? I still qualified for State Farm auto insurance! The bad news? My monthly insurance premium would be increased by almost 50%! I was paying $89/month and my new rate was quoted at $203/month That is with the year no accident, no ticket discountThey said there was nothing that they could do about it and that it is not like it used to be where they could call their underwriter and explain the situation They told me they "don't care" how long you have been a customer and that if you have "no coverage" for over days that is just what it is I once again explained how long I have been a customer and how disappointed I was and they were not apologetic nor remorsefulI have since found a reputable agency in which my rate is $73/month Win for me!
My advice is to look elsewhere for insurance

My local agents office (David Arce, Madison Heights, MI ) did not add an endorsement to my policy to cover losses from storm drain backup After I reported a claim on 4/(Saturday) I was informed on 4/that I did not have coverage I informed the agent that I did request an endorsement be added to my policy several years ago I was told by the claims adjuster they would investigate and call me backI was told the investigation may take 2-weeks I Instead, they adjuster denied my claim which I was informed by mail, recieved on 4/ My agent left me a voicemail message on 4/indicating they did find my request for the addition endorsement in 1/ I have left messages for my agent on 4/6, 4/and 4/for a return call to discuss my claim I have not recieved a call back at this time My agent informed me in 4/voicemail that information was being forwarded to "State Farm' to get the endorsement added to policy and my claim would be honored On 4/10, the claim

I have been insured with State Farm since with Auto, Home, Life and Business insurance, I recently had a vehicle stolen and Melissa the Adjustor on my claim looked for every way to deny the claim, she has delayed the claim, she has made it so I can not reach a supervisor or another person to discuss my claim, I call and my cell and home numbers automatically route to her voice mail, she has stated that per my policy the car theft is not covered because it was taken by an employee of mine and I gave consent to drive the car, yes true but only for a single week period, not ongoingMelissa claims that consent is a permanent thing and they have the right to drive it for as long as they wish, and will not consider the car stolenPolice considered it stolen, it was recovered by police as a stolen car, destroyed by the party who stole it, and I had to pay myself $impound and towing fees, $to make another key plus travel expenses to travel from Nevada to Utah and retrieve the car and State Farm will not cover the car because I gave consent for a person to drive it, and apparently keep it foreverStay away from this company, I am canceling all my insurance, this is a bad company, with bad adjustors who don't try to help but look for ways to deny

Home insurance premium had become too high Got a much better deal on home and auto policiesOpted not to renew auto policy and called State Farm on June to cancel policy and request a refund for policy that was renewed in April As of today, June, no refund has been issued I doubt State Farm would allow me to pay my premiums two weeks late, and it is ridiculous that they still have not issued a refund on the terminated home owner's insurance policy
