I booked a mover through MovingHelp.com, which is "powered by UHaul". The movers, Hassle Free Movers based in East Providence, RI, told me I needed to provide the job and payment codes in order to schedule my move. I did and was charged. I then received a phone call stating there was an error and I had to rebook. I again provided the job/payment codes and was charged. On the day of the move Hassle Free did not show up. I was told that refunds would be processed and they were not. I contacted Moving.Help.com twice and was told the would/could not help. I have been in contact with Hassle Free over the course of several days and it is clear that I am getting the runaround. MovingHelp.com clearly does not vet their subcontractors, leaving consumers open to be scammed.

This is by far the WORST company I have ever worked with. To begin, the website wouldn't accept my debit card. The account linked to the card had no issues with it. I called customer service and they told me that it was my banks problem, not theirs. After 4 phone calls (I was hung up on twice)I decided to confirm my billing address with my bank. The bank confirmed I had the right address. On this phone call the bank notified me that this company charged me 12 times and then reversed the charges. I ended up making 11 phone calls to customer service because I was either hung up on (mostly by [redacted])or disconnected. They also wanted to charge me 9.95 for entering my information in the system (which takes a total of 5 minutes..they are taking advantage of their customers). I felt I should be refunded the 9.95 since the website was the problem and not me. I was told this wasn't possible. After finally making progress with [redacted] we were disconnected. I called back requesting to speak with her. They told me that they could not transfer me and that I have to continue to call back until I reach [redacted]. After finally reaching [redacted] she tried to enter my information into the website and then the website stopped working for her. I had been on the phone with these people for 2 hours so I asked her to call me when it was completed. The next day I didn't get a call so I reached out to them. It was never done by [redacted] or her manager as she promised. I worked with [redacted] the next day and she was actually pleasant. She told me that my order was never entered in the system and that she couldn't waive the 9.95. She also informed me that they can't make outgoing calls, therefore no one intended to contact me to tell me movers had been booked for me. I asked her to speak with a manager but this failed because there are no managers at her location. She had to message them and the manager never got back to her. After 25 minutes on the phone I hung up. This company lost my business. I have NEVER been so furious with an organization. They deserve to go out of business.

details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Only a partial refund was refunded in the amount of $117, excluding the $25 "travel fee" that they charged in conjunction with the mover who never showed up.

Regards,

A full refund was issued to [redacted]'s [redacted] credit card ending in [redacted]. The refund (totaling $340.95) was requested and approved to be credited on June 11, 2016 at 5:50:09 pm (AZ time). The customer, Mrs. [redacted], should already have the credit to her account. If the funds are not in Mrs....

[redacted]'s account, MovingHelp.com recommends that Mrs. [redacted] contact her financial institution regarding the delay, as these funds have already been released by MovingHelp.com. Mrs. [redacted] can contact me, Russ B[redacted], Program Manager for MovingHelp.com at any time and I will be happy to provide her with the proof necessary to show that MovingHelp.com did in fact release the funds to her financial institution. MovingHelp.com considers this matter resolved.[redacted]

I had a great experience with the service they provided and they arrived on time and moved everything with care. My move went very smooth without any issues. I would certainly recommend them. Thanks guys.

Working with movinghelp.com was extremely frustrating. Their customer service representatives were rude, unsympathetic, and unhelpful. Furthermore, their ratings for moving companies were extremely misleading. When moving from NJ to CA, I looked up movers in CA with high ratings. I wanted to make sure I had reliable movers since I was not going to have my car with me in CA. I found a company through their site with a high rating and booked them. That company never showed up on our moving day. When I reached out to movinghelp.com to inform them of this and ask for their assistance, they did not help me find a solution. The customer service representative was the rudest individual I've encountered in my life. She cut me off several times and did not provide any useful information. I would NEVER use movinghelp.com again or suggest this service to anyone. It was an absolute nightmare.

Again,
Being that the Payment Code was given to the service provider, the funds have already been paid to them. It is the suggestion of MovingHelp.com that the customer, Mr. [redacted], pursue the Moving Helper directly. Being that MovingHelp.com is the facilitator of the transaction between the Customer and the Moving Helper, We as facilitators are in no way responsible for damages caused by the independent service providers. We strongly recommend that the customer seek compensation directly through the independent service provider. Below is all known points of contact for the independent service provider. MovingHelp.com considers this matter resolved.

I want to point out to other potential clients of movinghelp.com, that their fees are charged in American Dollars. For those of us North of the border, it is not stated any where that we would be charged in American dollars. That is fraud. As well, it is stated on the website when you book this service that one is not charged until the job is complete, that is a lie. My move was booked for March 25 and I was charged on my credit card on March 10. So they make sure to get their money even if the job is not complete. I ended up cancelling my move and I am waiting to see if my monies are refunded.

I want to also note that I was referred to movinghelp.com through uhaul.com. I understand that movinghelp.com operates its head office out of the states, that should not mean that a service I get in Canada should be charged in American dollars. Uhaul and movinghelp.com should both clearly state what funds one is being charged in when offering this service.

Your order was cancelled on 3/31 and a refund for the total amount was issued to your credit card.

transaction. I will be happy to research the individuals issue and get back to them with a response within 24 hours. The individual can reach me at [redacted]. MovingHelp.com considers this matter resolved.

The business' response is ridiculous. In essence, they state that since they only operate a website, they bear no responsibility if a mover does a terrible job (or does anything else wrong, for that matter), and they will make no effort even to contact movers about legitimate complaints. It would be one thing if they were not profiting from business conducted on the website, but they are, so this is outrageous. Apparently they think this complaint can be adressed, however, by simply stating that they "consider the matter resolved."
Here is a comparison that I think brings out how frustrating this is: Imagine that you (moving help) purchase an item on [redacted], and discover that it is defective. You leave negative feedback for the seller, and contact the seller requesting a partial refund. Unfortunately, the seller refuses to respond to multiple requests, and when he ultimately does, he screams profanity at you. So, you contact [redacted] and ask for help. But, [redacted] tells you that it is just a marketplace, that it has absolutely no responsibility for your problem, that it won't contact the seller, and that it "considers the matter resolved." Would you be satisfied with that, knowing that [redacted] made money on the transaction? I'd think not. I'm not asking moving help to reimburse my entire payment or anything remotely like that. I'm asking them to work with me to help me get a partial refund from the mover whose service was inadequate. They really can't even do that?

Moving Help is a hard to reach, unreliable business. Scheduled movers are subcontracted and Moving Help claims no responsibility for ensuring their arrival. I had to re-schedule in a panic with a new mover (which took hours being shuffled between [redacted] and Moving Help). Then, I was charged upfront for the move (moving from a dwelling in one city and then moving into a dwelling in another city), then again for each piece of the move. Awkward small credits and charges for those pieces posted to my account after the initial charge, making it difficult initially to see their process of charging for the service. When I disputed the charges with MovingHelp, I was told they can only view the last three months of payments processed (I should note the charge was within 3 months). Finally, I simply disputed the charge with my credit card company. My advice is to hire your own movers and deal directly with a Revdex.com certified company.

MovingHelp.com guarantees that the customer is able to receive a full refund for any services that are not rendered. list their services. The Moving Helpers are in no way contracted by Moving Help. The customer, stated in the Customer Agreement agreed to at time of booking, enters into a contracted agreement between themselves and the Moving Helper. MovingHelp.com is not responsible to compensate any customer any more than their original amount paid. MovingHelp.com was able to fully refund Mr. [redacted] and we apologize that his Moving Helper, selected personally by Mr. [redacted], was unable to show up for the scheduled work. An email was sent to the Moving Helper suggesting that they utilize the tools that we provide them to block out any times or days that they do not wish to accept jobs. With the customer being fully refunded for services not rendered, MovingHelp.com considers this matter closed.
