Mudderella Reviews (175)

Review: I registered for the Mudderella Boston event, however we received an email on Friday stating that the event has been moved to [redacted], ME. This is unacceptable 8 days for the race, to expect participants to be able to go two states away for something that was supposed to be held in MA. I attempted to contact Mudderella to request a refund for the change in states from MA to ME. However I received a response from them, that is not an option. My choices are to either take the longer commute at my expense of time and gas on the scheduled date or transfer to another 2014 event in another state (because the 2015 options are not available for selections). This is completely not OK. If I was interested in participating in another state I would have done so from the beginning. Mudderella, has neglected to provide an event within the contracted state that I payed for. Therefore, I should be able to be refunded my $74.30 in registration fees because I am unable to do this race in ME. Below is a copy of the generic email response I received from mudderella denying my request for a refund:

We apologize for the slow response. We have been following your feedback and comments on [redacted] and email closely as we get ready for the event next weekend, and we will be working over the holiday to provide responses to all of your questions as quickly as possible. We also know how frustrating this venue change is; we've spent months working to get the event ready despite multiple setbacks outside of our control, and the change of location is crushing to our entire team. Please know we did everything within our power to keep the event closer to the Boston area.

While the new venue is only 1 hour and 15 away from the previous location, we know that there will be a few individuals who are now unable to make trip. If you really cannot make it to the new [redacted] venue, we are offering free transfers to any 2014 or 2015 Mudderella event. If you want to transfer, follow the instructions on this page. You can find all of our remaining 2014 events listed on the Mudderella website, and we'll be announcing our growing calendar of 2015 events over the next few months. We are going to do everything in our power to host an event as close as possible to Boston in 2015.

Please note that there has also been some misunderstandings on social media with regards to the details of this transfer. We want to clarify that there will absolutely not be a fee associated with transferring your registration to a future event. It's a completely free transfer. We also understand your hesitation about the calendar, but we have heard your feedback and will work tirelessly to address it.

Regarding your requests for a refund, we regretfully are unable to offer this option. We know this may be frustrating for many of you, but please understand that we have this policy in place for a reason. Our team spends close to a year planning the event that you registered for. This includes working with engineers, securing materials needed to host an event, and lining up the staffing, medical teams and the countless, yet critical, logistical aspects that go into delivering a Mudderella. Your registration acts as an RSVP. It helps us accurately plan and provide everything needed for customers to experience a safe and enjoyable event, and without this these events cannot take place. We take this reality incredibly seriously and, at this stage, it means we cannot change our current event offering.

Please know, we are going to do everything within our power to host an incredible event in [redacted] this weekend, and despite all of the setbacks, we are looking forward to hosting each and every one of you. We are sincerely sorry for any inconvenience the late change in venue has caused, and we look forward to rebuilding your trust this weekend, and in the weeks, months and years ahead.

We value your feedback (we read it all no matter how negative, as we are constantly striving to improve) and we appreciate you taking the time to provide your candid input about our organization.

Sincerely,

Mudderella HQ [redacted] Aug ** 19:40

This change is unacceptable & and refund should be given. Maine is not what I signed up for. I am not interested in transferring to another undetermined date for sometime in 2015. It is not possible to make arrangements to go to Maine for this event with one weeks notice.Desired Settlement: A full refund for my registration fees of $74.30.

Review: Signed up a team (6 people) for the Mudderella Boston and a week before the event which was supposed to be 9/* the location was changed to Maine. They will not refund our money and are only offering a transfer to another event and the other event dates and locations arent even set yet. We want our money back.Desired Settlement: We would like a refund for the money we spent to sign up since they changed this and can't guarantee there will even be an event next year.

Sincerely,

Review: Mudderella Boston has moved their Sept *, 2014 event from Boston area to Maine - with short notice. This is an unreasonable venue move and one that many consumers, including myself, can no longer manage. They are refusing to issue a refund. I believe this is a contract breach between the consumer and the company. The event is no longer as described in our agreement.Desired Settlement: Full refund to my order with Mudderella in the amount of $74.30.

Sincerely,

Review: I paid $84.93 in March, for an event in "Boston" on September *, 2014. The event locatin was changed twice, with the final location being in Maine, approximately 2 hours from its original location.Desired Settlement: I want a refund. I don't want to "transfer" to another unknown event at an unknown location in the future. I want my money back. Please. VERY BAD BUSINESS with Mudderella :(

Sincerely,

Review: I signed up for Mudderella Boston in February. Just one week before the day of the event, they've changed the location to ME. It's almost 2-hours from the original location, but now over 3-hours from where I live. I'm willing to travel for a fun event, but I cannot travel this far. They've refused to provide a refund. They've offered a transfer, btu they don't have dates or locations set for anywhere in my area. AND, i'm not really planning my 2015 summer yet. This is ludicrous.Desired Settlement: I want a full refund to my credit card.

Review: The Mudderella Boston 2014 has changed venues 2 times since I signed up 2 months ago. I am a team captain and have paid over $120 for the registry fee and parking pass. It most recently (TODAY) moved the Mudderella BOSTON to [redacted] ,Maine (8 days before the RACE DAY) and is NOT OFFERING refunds but only to transfer funds to a later date for a Mudderella Race. This seems unfair to change a venue not once but twice and to assume that this is acceptable. Not only are they stating that they will transfer funds but there is no schedule for 2015 or races nearby Boston which is where I reside. How am I to assume or trust that this may even occur? When you are advertising a race in BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS and then proceed to move it 2+ hours away to another state completely and feel that you have a right to keep my money I do not and will not be okay with that.

Below is the MUDDERELLA UK WAIVER:

Refund Policy I and Parent/Guardian acknowledge that the MD event fee and associated costs (including optional product purchases, spectator tickets, and donations) are non-refundable, including in circumstances where I am unable to attend due to illness or injury or a scheduling conflict, unless:

1) TML cancels or materially delays or alters the MD event;

[redacted]2) TML makes a significant change to the Venue;, or[redacted]

3) TML changes the date of the MD event so that I am no longer able to attend.Desired Settlement: my money refunded

Review: I (along with hundreds of others) signed up for the Mudderella Boston event which was to be held in [redacted]. Mudderrella then changed the venue to [redacted]. Then today (8/**/14) changed the venue to [redacted], MAINE. This is a 2 hour drive I did not anticipate when I signed up for this event.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of my registration and all of the fees I paid for this event which totals $106.18. I would like for all other participants to receive full refunds as well.

Sincerely,

Review: I registered in February 2014 for what was advertised as Mudderella Boston. One week prior to the event, the location has now changed to Maine. I would not have purchased this back in February if I knew the location would be Mudderella Maine.Desired Settlement: Mudderella's responsibility is to refund my purchase price back to my credit card.

Review: I signed up for the Boston Mudderella on September [redacted], 2014. The location of this race has changed twice since I signed up. Once from [redacted], MA to [redacted], MA and then again from [redacted] to [redacted], Maine. [redacted] is 2 hours away from the original location and changing this location with a week's notice is unacceptable. Worse, I contacted Mudderella for a refund and was told that Mudderella will not be able to offer refunds, as a no refund agreement was signed during registration. I don't think it was in our agreement to run a race that would be changed to 2 states away, either.

Social media is up in arms about this, you can read more about it on the [redacted] pages and on [redacted]. I would like my money refunded for this race that more and more feels like a scam. I'd be happy to provide further information if needed.Desired Settlement: All participants of the Boston Mudderella should be refunded their admission fee.

Review: On 2/**/2014 I registered for Mudderella Boston 2014 September *, 2014 scheduled to be held at [redacted]... Then on July **, 2014 I received an email stating the location has changed to: New venue: [redacted]. On August **, 2014 I received another email changing the location yet again, the new location is Mudderella Boston 2014 September *, 2014 (NOTE: The date has not changed) New venue: [redacted], ME [redacted]. The event went from being a 45 minutes to 50 minutes to now a 2 hour drive from Boston. This is unacceptable! They will not give a refund and the only option is to change to a 2015 event but they do not have a 2015 schedule as of yet and if they are not doing a race near me in 2015 I would forfit my money. This is no longer a Boston event its now a Maine event and that is not what I registered for. All of the locationd changes are a huge inconvenience especially now I have the burden of having to try to get to Maine.Desired Settlement: I would like my credit card to be fully refunded for this event....

Review: I signed up to participate in Mudderella Boston, to be held in [redacted], MA. It was moved to [redacted], also in MA which was fine. Then, a week before the event, it was moved two states away, no compensation offered, no refunds offered, and repeated refusals for a refund. 3 days were given to defer to another race in 2014 or 2015, but no race dates in 2015 are announced yet!Desired Settlement: I want my full registration fee refunded.

Review: Event was scheduled for Sept. * 2014 in [redacted] MA. They rescheduled the event with a little over a week away to a different state, Maine. More than 3 hours away. They are not offering a refund. They are only offering a transfer.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund since they changed the state where the event was supposed to be held. This was the second time they changed the event.

Sincerely,

Review: I registered for the September [redacted] Mudarella Boston. The event was to be held in MA. The event organizers changed the venue to Maine. I do not have transportation to Maine and have requested a refund. The organizers refuse to provide refunds. I paid $106.18 and am contacting you on behalf of my team, The [redacted] Mudders Club. There are 10 team members and our total payment to Tough Mudder for non-delivery of services is $1,061.80. I understand this constitutes a change in the material contract and a breach of contract with the race participants. We did not register for a race in Maine.Desired Settlement: Full refunds for all team members-

[redacted]n, captain

Sincerely,

Review: Mudderella is an Obstacle Course Race that is held in various locations around the US. I signed up for the [redacted], MA race to be held on September *, 2014. I signed up for the race on August **, 2014 and my Visa card has already been charged for the race. On August **, 2014 I was notified via email that Mudderella moved the race I paid for to the State of Maine and that if I wanted to participate on that day I needed to travel to Maine. I was also advised I could transfer my registration to a race in 2015. There are no races scheduled for 2015 and I cannot travel to Maine, that's why I purchased a ticket for the race in [redacted], MA. I've emailed Mudderella requesting a refund and have not received a response.Desired Settlement: All I request is a refund of the amount I paid, $116.80 to my credit card.

At this time, I have been contacted directly by Mudderella LLC regarding complaint ID [redacted], however my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[Your Answer Here]

Mudderella has repeatedly failed to credit my charge card account. Mudderella offered to transfer my registration fee to another race. The problem is the only two remaining races are multiple states away. There is no 2015 schedule available. Regardless, those options are not acceptable to me. They deemed my dispute "Resolved." I do not.

Sincerely,

Review: The Mudderella race is this weekend Sept *. It was suppose to be in Boston they not only changed the location once but twice. They just told us on Friday August [redacted] that it would be to a changed location an that is in Maine! I live in RI an no way does that make sense for me to travel 3 hours there then another 3 back plus do the race an go home. It is unrealistic, last minute an disorganized of them to do this. An they are only offering for you to change the date to a future race. I think that isn't fair nor will I know what I will be doing in a year from now, it's an unrealistic request of them. They should be refunding money to those who can not make it not just telling them all they can do for them is change the date of the race. I want nothing to do with this organization they are last minute an disorganized why would I want to change this date to do another race. When they will probably just change that one also. I am disappoint an disgusted with how they are handling this matter!Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund of that I paid to do the race!

Review: I signed up with the company on February **, 2014 to complete a race in the "Boston" area (specifically [redacted]) at the time, the race was to be held on Sept. *, 2014 and the fee was $75. Since that time the Venue for the race has been changed on 2 occasions. I was just notified of the 2nd change yesterday, with the race just 8 days away that it have been moved to Maine (2 states away, 3.5 hour drive). I have a team of 13 members, all from Massachusetts, all paid fees for a race in the Boston vicinity. I had been attempting to contact this company for 2 weeks prior to this to resolve several other issues (runners missing from my team, runners not receiving start times, runners on the team with different start times). During that period I had sent over 6 emails (no phone numbers were provided) and posted on their FB page requesting assistance. I even sent an email to the Tough Mudder organization because I had been told there was an affilication. I never received one response to any of my repeated pleas for help until yesterday when I was informed of the venue change. At this time they are not offering any refunds, only transfers to another race in this area . . . . well currently there are no other races in this area, nor are there any listed for next year. Furthermore, even if there was another race I no longer have any faith in this organization. Due to the now extensive travel distance to the new venue most of our team can no longer attend this race. We would like to see refunds issued. There are also 1000's of people who raised funds for the companies Charity sponsor "[redacted]" I am worried that they are not receiving the donations made by others.Desired Settlement: I would like to see all participants who cannot travel to the new venue receive a full refund of monies paid. Any jonies raised for the charity [redacted] either be given to the charity or back to those who collected it.

Review: A race was scheduled for Sept * near Boston for the Mudderella-Boston race. They moved the site of the race to about an hour outside boston, which was fine but then moved it again to Maine. This is no longer Mudderella-Boston which is what I signed up for. I signed up for a race in MA and not ME. This is a drastic and unacceptable change.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of the $74.30 I paid to mudderella for the Boston, MA race.

Sincerely,

Review: I signed up to run Mudderella Boston which is scheduled to take place on Saturday Sept [redacted], 2014. The venue for this event has changed a few times. The most recent change was announced yesterday stating the event will now take place in [redacted] Maine, 2 state away. My team mate and I will not be able to travel that far and Mudderella is stating they will not give refunds. I would not sign up for an event in Maine and I did not sign up for one. Selling an event in the Boston area and moving the location is false advertising at the very least! The new place is not even close...Desired Settlement: I would like my money back.

Sincerely,

Review: I registered for the Mudderella Boston mud race to be held at [redacted] in [redacted] MA on 9/*/14. In July, Mudderella notified participants that the location has been moved to [redacted] Sports Park in [redacted], MA. On 8/**/14 (8 days to race day), Mudderella again notified participants of another location change. The new location is [redacted] in [redacted], ME. I have requested a refund from Mudderella but they have denied my request. Mudderella Boston advertised this is a "Boston" event taking place in MA and now they are moving the event to ME. This is not as advertised and is an unfair business practice. I want reimbursement for my registration fee of $74.30.Desired Settlement: A timely refund of $74.30

Review: I signed up to participate in the BOSTON Mudderella. They changed the venue twice, the second time 8 days before the event moving it to another state. I would like a refund since they did not live up to the advertised event that I signed up for.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund for the money I sent in good faith for the BOSTON event.
