Review: REGISTERED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE BOSTON MUDDRELLA EVENT ON 2/**/2014. THE ORGANIZATION HAS CHANGED THE LOCATION OF THE EVENT 4 (FOUR) TIMES SINCE REGISTRATION. IT IS NO LONGER A BOSTON EVENT, RATHER A MAINE EVENT, AND NO LONGER FEASIBLE TO TRAVEL (4.5 HOURS BOTH WAYS). CONSIDER THIS FALSE ADVERTISING, POOR PLANNING, AND UNETHICAL PRACTICE TO NOT OFFER REFUNDS.Desired Settlement: REFUND CREDIT CARD.

Review: I purchased my ticket to participate in Mudderella Boston. It was originally advertised to be held in [redacted], MA. Then moved to [redacted], MA. Then moved to [redacted], MA. And now one week before the event they moved it out of state to [redacted], ME. This is false advertising. I signed up for Mudderella Boston. They cannot move it two and half hours out of state a week before the event and not offer a refund. I believe they must give me a refund for false advertising. They are refusing to do so.Desired Settlement: I want a full refund.

Review: Muddlerella Boston was an event approx 1 hour from my home. I registered for it for $80 in March. They moved the event a few months after I registered they changed the location, approx another 15 minutes away. No problem.

This past Friday, August **, they changed the location to MAINE, which is now more than 3 hours from my home. The event is on Saturday, September [redacted]. This change happened within 8 days of the event. I am not willing to spend 6 hours in a car in one day, nor do I care to pay for a hotel. I believe I deserve a refund as I signed up for MUDDERELLA BOSTON. Not MUDDERELLA MAINE.Desired Settlement: I would like the money refunded directly to my debit/bank card.

Review: I had never participated in a Mudderella or anything like it before but decided that it looked like a fun way to raise money for charity and awareness for fibromyalgia, a couple of friends and I joined up for the so called Boston venue. After many changes from the get go...the venue is now in Maine and 3:30 to 4 hours drive for us...approximately 8 hours total. We were given only a weeks notice and they will not refund my money. Can you do anything to help with this issue? I feel helpless and defeated after they sent me this message:

We know how hard you have been preparing and how much planning goes into attending an event such as this. However, despite having signed a contract with [redacted], we were not informed of their legal problems until just a few days ago when we made the announcement. We absolutely understand that a change this close to the event impacts our participants, but we know that [redacted] will be awesome and muddy and give you the life-changing experience you deserve.

We absolutely understand your disappointment and frustration in the full set of options we are offering following this change, but if you cannot make the new location, we can only facilitate transfers at this time. We still want you to be able to experience Mudderella and this is why we are offering free transfers to any 2014 or 2015 events to ensure that you have the opportunity to take part in an upcoming event of your choice. As our 2015 schedule has not yet launched, we realize that you have a lot of questions about future events. We'll be announcing our growing calendar of 2015 events over the next few months and we are going to do everything in our power to host an event as close as possible to Boston in 2015. If you want to transfer, follow the instructions on this page.Desired Settlement: Just my money back...I do not trust nor do I ever want to be affiliated with this organization again! I signed up for Mudderella Boston, not Maine!

Sincerely,

Review: On 07/**/14 I signed up 2 participants for Mudderella Boston. The original location of this event was [redacted] which is a suburb in Massachusetts. Then the event was changed to [redacted] which is another suburb in the Boston area. Less than 10 days before the event, the location was changed again to a different state that requires travel and expenses far withstanding the original commitment. The new venue is 3 hours away from my location and the company is offering no monetary refunds for this change. Instead they want participants to trade their number in for an as yet-to-be-scheduled event in the 2014-2015 year with no location given in our geographic area. False advertising and misrepresentation are my issues with this situation.Desired Settlement: I want the full amount I paid refunded to my credit card.

Review: In February of this year, I learned of Mudderella and the charity they are associated with. Part of the proceeds would go to support domestic violence awareness. I joined a team that had been formed by another gym member, registered and paid the $75 registration fee. This event was called Mudderella Boston, and is taking place on Saturday, September *, 2014. Originally, the event was scheduled to take place in [redacted], MA, which is roughly 40 minutes outside of Boston. Since February the location of this event has changed three times: from [redacted], MA; to [redacted], MA; and now it's been moved out of state to Maine. Maine is more than a two hour drive from Boston. It is highly unreasonable to keep changing the event only to move it out of state and not give refunds for people not wanting to drive over four hours total for this event.Desired Settlement: The organizers of this Mudderalla event is offering to transfer the Boston registration to another event, but not offering refunds for their disorganization of this event. I do not want to transfer my registration, and to not want to participate in any other of their events. I just want my money back.

Review: In February 2014, I purchased two tickets to Mudderella's Boston event (for a total of $169.86) billed to held in [redacted], MA on September *, 2014. At some point, the event was moved to [redacted], MA, which was inconsequential due to the close proximity of the two locations. One week before the event, Mudderella moved the event to Maine. The original locations were near Boston, making it an easy one day event for me - less than a two hour drive each way. The new location is over a four hour drive each way, and if it were originally slated to be held here, I would have not purchased tickets to participate. I have emailed Mudderella several times, requesting a refund, they have responded, saying they will not be issuing refunds, but that I can transfer to a future TBD event in 2015 (none of which are currently scheduled).

Here's how I see this: Let’s say I ordered and paid for a dress online, and the company sent me a skirt, instead of my dress. They sent me a nice little note: “the dress you ordered is not available, here’s a skirt.” I didn’t want a skirt. I wanted a dress, but they have now refused to refund my money. Instead, they would only offer me a store credit. The problem is that this store has no inventory, and nothing to sell me now. They’re assuring me that at some point, they may in fact have something similar to the dress I’d already bought and paid for but didn’t receive, but they don’t know when it will arrive, or what it will look like, or what size it will come in, or if it will even be a dress.

Would you be happy? Would you want to do business with this company again? Would you recommend it to your friends? Would you be ok with simply having them keep your money, on the promise that maybe, someday, you’ll get something maybe similar to what you wanted, but maybe not?

Mudderella has done the “old switcheroo”, and changed the product on their customers. They're not delivering what they ordered. I bought a dress. They're giving me a skirt.

They refuse to refund my money, which I find unethical, and reprehensible.Desired Settlement: I request a refund to my credit card in the full amount of $169.86.

Review: Signed up for Mudderella Boston event which was supposed to take place in [redacted] Mass. this coming Saturday September *,2014 Venue was changed about one month ago to [redacted] Mass. Two days ago venue changed again to [redacted] Maine, one week before the event. I can no longer attend because of the significant travel difference between venues. Mudderella will not issue a refund. They are offering to transfer to another event next year for free; however, they do not have any events posted on their website. How can you agree to transfer when there are no events listed. Absolutely unacceptable. Mudderella needs to issue a refund. They cannot change the venue to TWO states away, one week before and treat participants this way.Desired Settlement: Refund for registration and associated fees

Mudderella will not issue a refund for an event that I could no longer attend because they moved the event two states away, one week prior to the event, from the location that was stated when I signed up. Although I understand their "no refund policy" I feel this was a last minute change on THEIR part and for those that could no longer attend due to the venue change two states away, refunds for the cost of the registration should be given.

Sincerely,

Review: I registered for mudderella Boston 3/**/14 and paid $170.00 for my sister and I to participate in the event to be held in [redacted], ma. In July I was notified by email the event had to be moved due to unforeseen circumstances to [redacted], ma instead. A minor inconvenience that is an extra 15 min away, no big deal. On Friday 8/**/14 I received another email saying they had to move venues again, this time to [redacted], me. That is now more than 3 hrs from my house. I wouldn't never signed up for an event that was 3 hrs away. We had custom t-shirts made, requested time off work all to be disappointed 8 days before the event. I understand there are situations that they can't control, but that's unfair to expect us not to get refunds. Issue our refunds and then they can take legal action against there written contracts with the venues. I did not register for mudderella MaineDesired Settlement: Businesses need to be held accountable. It's unfair that I should have to pay for something I'm unable to go to that was falsely advertised as Boston mudderella in Maine. I think it's poor business to expect us to be ok with a transfer when there are not dates even listed for next year

Sincerely,

Review: I, like many others, registered for the 2014 Boston area Mudderella event to be held September [redacted]. The key to this is BOSTON area. After one venue change, this organization decided to once again change the venue to a new site in [redacted] Maine, a site that is almost 2 hours away from Boston. They have explained that supposedly the changes are due to circumstances beyond their control and understand it is much farther for some to travel, yet refuse to issue full refunds. This is not the event I, and as I said, many others signed up for. We should be entitled to a full refund even though there is a clause that states there are no refunds, as this is NOT a Boston area event. Technically, the new location could be in Texas under these guidelines and the organization would still not have to provide refunds. As of August **, the organization's solution is to offer a free transfer to another Mudderella event without any sort of guarantee that this situation will not happen again in the future. In short, I am not receiving the service that I paid for and therefore feel a full refund is warranted.Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund of my $106.18 paid to Mudderella for the Boston area event they are no longer providing.

Mudderella continues to refuse to refund anyone's registration fee for the Boston 2014 event. On September [redacted] I received what seemed to be a "cut and paste" e-mail response to my request for a refund; below is Mudderella's response:

We know how frustrating this venue change is; we've spent months working to get the event ready despite multiple setbacks outside of our control, and the change of location is crushing to our entire team. Please know we did everything within our power to keep the event closer to the Boston area. While the new venue is only 1 hour and 15 away from the previous location, we know that there will be a few individuals who are now unable to make trip. If you really cannot make it to the new [redacted] venue, we are offering free transfers to any 2014 or 2015 Mudderella event. If you want to transfer, follow the instructions on this page. You can find all of our remaining 2014 events listed on the Mudderella website, and we'll be announcing our growing calendar of 2015 events over the next few months. We are going to do everything in our power to host an event as close as possible to Boston in 2015.We want to clarify that there will absolutely not be a fee associated with transferring your registration to a future event. It's a completely free transfer. We also understand your hesitation about the calendar, but we have heard your feedback and will work tirelessly to address it.Regarding your requests for a refund, we regretfully are unable to offer this option. We know this may be frustrating for many of you, but please understand that we have this policy in place for a reason. Our team spends close to a year planning the event that you registered for. This includes working with engineers, securing materials needed to host an event, and lining up the staffing, medical teams and the countless, yet critical, logistical aspects that go into delivering a Mudderella. Your registration acts as an RSVP. It helps us accurately plan and provide everything needed for customers to experience a safe and enjoyable event, and without this these events cannot take place. We take this reality incredibly seriously and, at this stage, it means we cannot change our current event offering. Please know, we are going to do everything within our power to host an incredible event in [redacted] this weekend, and despite all of the setbacks, we are looking forward to hosting each and every one of you. We are sincerely sorry for any inconvenience the late change in venue has caused, and we look forward to rebuilding your trust this weekend, and in the weeks, months and years ahead. We value your feedback (we read it all no matter how negative, as we are constantly striving to improve) and we appreciate you taking the time to provide your candid input about our organization.Sincerely,

I have yet to receive a full refund as stated in my previous message from October [redacted]. The only response I received from Mudderella was a "cut-and-paste" e-mail which I previously posted. The solution was to transfer my registration to another Mudderella event for the next year. As of today, Mudderella is not offering a Boston event, but a New England event and have yet to announce the date and location. If Mudderella had billed the "Boston" 2014 event as a New England event, I, as I am sure many others, would not have registered in the first place. This organization seems to be acknowledging some amount of deception by making this change.

Review: Mudderella LLC is a company that was holding an obstacle course race in Boston, MA. They changed the venue a few times in the Boston area, which was fine. Then, a week before the race, they changed the venue to Maine, but still advertised the event as "Mudderella Boston." The new venue was over 3 hours from my house and I would be unable to attend an event so far from home. This was not what they had advertised when I signed up for "Mudderella Boston." The company has a no refund policy when it comes to participants backing out, but I feel in this case, they misrepresented their event (Maine is not Boston.) and should refund those of us who are now too far away to attend the event. They are refusing to do say, saying you can transfer to an event in 2015. However, there are no 2015 events planned yet, so there is no way to know whether or not there will even be an event in your area.Desired Settlement: I would like the $95 that I paid to register for this race refunded to me.

Review: I signed up for a Mudderella event that was advertised as a "Boston Mudderella" the event was to be held in [redacted] Ma, then the venue was changed to [redacted] Ma, I was fine with the location change both venues were withing 20 min of my home. This Saturday one week before the event I received and email saying once again the venue location has changed this time to Westbrooke Maine close to 2 hours away, I immediately emailed them back saying this was impossible for me to attend and requested a full refund. I received a reply stating they would not be giving any refunds but I could transfer to a 2015 event, at this time they have no 2015 events set up. I again wrote back saying that was not acceptable and wanted my money back and again got a generic letter saying sorry but no refunds this is there policy. I understand locations change and if the new location had been equal or atleast reasonable I would have attended, I feel asking us to go to a different state over an hour away is completely unreasonable.Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund this event cost me $127.43

Review: Mudderella has shown itself to be a company with unreliable and unethical practices. They were supposed to offer an event in Boston area and have changed venues at least three times and now with just one week left from the event, they have changed the venue once again to a much further locale in Maine. This was not part of the contract. I signed up and paid $95 for an event near Boston, Ma. Not Maine. MUDDERELLA is not accepting refunds which is highly unreasonable, if not unethical, considering the poor job theyve done in securing a location that they advertised. Maine is not an acceptable change in location. It will make it impossible for many participants, like myself, to partake in the event. A refund to those requesting one should be a reasonable thing to do. Its a shady business practice to not do so!Desired Settlement: Refund of paid ticket

Review: I had signed up to participate in the mudderella BOSTON race with a team of 5. Originally the venue was to be held in [redacted] MA when I signed up. A few months later they changed the venue to [redacted], MA. On August [redacted], 8 days before the event they changed to venue location once again but this time to [redacted], Maine. This is completely unacceptable because it is over a 3 hour drive for me. My contract was for Muddrella Boston. Not Maine. I have contacted customer service for failed to get in touch with anyone.Desired Settlement: To be refunded to full 95.55 that I paid to participate

Review: I signed up for Muderella in June of 2014 for their Boston race on September * 2014, since I signed up they changed their venue location twice. The first 2 locations made the venue a little more than and hour away from where we were departing which was expected. The last, most recent and last minute change (a week before the event) puts the location in Maine, more than 3 hours from my home and the departing location. This trip is impossible for me to make. I expressed this to Mudderella and they offered free parking and a transfer to another Mudderella event in 2014 or 2015. The 2014 events are in Virgina, Detroit and California. I live in RI, if I cant make it to Maine how am I going to make it to the other events??? Also, for 2015 its listed as New England, not a specific state. That could be anywhere, it could be Maine again and I cant make it to Maine. So, do they get to keep my money because of they cant get organized? Also, when I signed up I listed my family as spectators which included my 2 children ages 9 and 6. Children under 12 are FREE, they charged me full price for the children and have yet to get back to me about refunding me for those tickets. They are thieves and practice bad business, no form of communication except email. When you cant contact someone except for email that says a lot, a red flag should have gone up. The event was advertised as Massachusetts not Maine. If they had advertised it as Maine I never would have signed up in the first place.Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund. I will not be transferring as I thought I would have been, I will not be able to attend and they will not be providing me with the services as originally promised. Also, I dont want to do business with a company that over charges and misleads people.

Review: Back in march My team and I registered for a tough mudder called Mudderella Boston which was to be held in [redacted], Ma. A few weeks ago we received an email stating that the location of the venue was changed to [redacted], Ma. I have yet to receive their most current email, but I was made aware by my teammates that the location was changed yet again to [redacted] ,ME. I did not register for a "Boston area" event that was going to be held in a different state. When I registered I knew that it was an hour from my home which was fine. But for them to move the location to a different state, making the drive 3 hours, is completely unacceptable and not what I signed up for. I understand their no refund policy if I cant not attend the venue I selected but in this case I did not plan to drive 3 hours, to run a 2 hour race, to drive another 3 hours home. I have written 2 emails to them, as they do don't have a contact number. Their unprofessionalism, lack of organization, and lack of consideration for to their participants is absurd. I'm glad that their are working through the setbacks but they are doing so at the expense of the participants. Not only did I pay to participate I paid for a spectators pass and was willing to pay for parking as well. Now it is expected for me to pay for gas, put mileage on my vehicle and take more time out of my day for their mistake. It is unfair to advertise and promote a "Boston area" event and then change the location to a different state a mere one week before the event. They also offered to transfer to participants to a different event in 2015. Unfortunately, due to life and work I cant not at this point agree to participate in an event whose dates and locations have yet to be announced. This is the definition of fraudulent because [redacted], Maine was not a part of the original agreement. and I am extremely disappointed in how they are handling the situation and would like a full refund.Desired Settlement: 85.00 which was paid for with a debit card. I know other participants have already received money back because their credit card companies found this to be a breech of contract and therefore reversed the charges. It is unfair that because I paid with a debit card, that I do not get a refund.

Review: I signed up for Mudderella BOSTON almost 8 months ago. I have trained for this event for over 6 months only to find out at the last minute it was moved all the way to MAINE. This is not what I signed up for. I am told I am not able to get a refund because they have a strict no-refund policy in the contract that I signed. However I signed that contract under the assumption I would be attending that event in Boston or AT LEAST a city in Massachusetts. It is ridiculous to assume that moving the event one week away in an entirely different state and not offering refunds is acceptable. It's not. I am asking for a refund.Desired Settlement: I would like to be refunded the money I spent to attend this event since I was promised a service they can no longer give me.

Sincerely,

Review: I signed up for a Mudderella sponsored race, scheduled for September *, 2014, advertised as in or around Boston. The original location was [redacted], and since that location was within reasonable driving distance from my residence, I paid for race registration in February 2014. They moved the location to [redacted], which was close enough to the original location to not be an inconvenience.

Then, on Friday, August **, 2014, eight days before the event, they announced another location change to [redacted], Maine. This is a considerable change and distance from the original location. They are not providing the same service for which I paid. I contacted Mudderella, requesting a refund, and they refused.Desired Settlement: I wish for Mudderella to refund the $74.30 in registration fees.

Review: Muddrella advertised buy 2 get 1 free on their website. I registered myself and 2 friends for the New England race. When I got to the end of the registration screen and hit the button I got a transaction complete screen charging me full price for 3 entries. There is NO phone number to contact Muddrella. I have emailed several times and get some generic response from someone who can't type proper English that says the deal is over. The last 2 times I emailed I received NO response.
