Not impressed I keep asking questions but just get what appears to be robotic answers
I like the mindfulness that comes with logging everything I eat, and I think that's what makes Noom effective. I'm consistently losing 3 pounds a week so far, and I'm sure that's down to not allowing calorie creep.
I don't like the way the daily tips talk down to me. They try way too hard to be cute and funny, and it's annoying as ***. I get around it by skimming, doing my best to pick up a few good nuggets of fact without all the nonsense. I am also pretty sure my "coach" is a bot that sends canned messages and uses key words in my responses to toss out unhelpful tips. There's lots of room for improvement, but as long as I'm losing weight, I don't need any frills.
I liked Noom from the beginning. Great concept, not overwhelming, simple to grasp and carry out in daily life. Nice encouragement.
My number one comment for improvement would be for finding a way to sort your users into categories for the groups. I have health issues that make it very hard to not get discouraged as I read about my group members completing "Krav Maga" workouts and burning nearly 700 calories in an hour. Another member comments she is already near her goal weight 5 weeks in and I have more than 50 pounds to go! This is not inspiring to me...it seems more disheartening as I can't see myself EVER doing Krav Maga and I may NEVER reach my goal weight as I struggle to make even 300 steps a day.
Perhaps finding a way to sort us into more similar minded and experienced groups would help us far better than having such vast differences among members.
I know I would find it far more inspiring to be with a group who universally understood what it feels like to struggle with chronic pain, who knows that their body will not respond the way that a young and heathy body would.
For Noom to know and understand that the older body, often struggling with chronic disease and pain, cannot and will not respond the way the majority of Noom users bodies will.
We need support too. We need to find each other and band together. There is enough diversity among us alone. We don't need examples of young, healthy folks to follow. We can step out into the world and see them all around us.
For a tool like Noom to not only educate and inform....but aid us in finding others out there like us, THAT would be priceless.
Maybe, since the groups are so large, we could have the ability to form sub groups in them with like-minded/experienced fellow Noomers. The group coach could continue to facilitate and guide us as a whole through her agenda and curriculum but as users....we would have our own mini groups who love martial arts, are near our goal weights or have chronic illness too relate to. This could really boost our motivation.
I have not experienced anything great or life changing. I would not recommend this to any of my friends or family.
I am very disappointed in this program. I joined to get help and support. I messaged my coach 4 days ago when I needed help and still haven't gotten a response to my messages
It’s good for tracking food intake and steps. I’m wishing it was usable and synchronized between iPad and iPhone. Data doesn’t transfer. Facility to go back and review previous days’ menus is rather clunky as well. Group chats are real, rest of the responses from coaches seem canned and inflexible. I’m doing it because I love tracking, still waiting for results, it’s slow. Only about a pound a week, most lost in first week, rest waivering up and down half pound her and half pound there. I am looking at food differently. I want to stop while away a mo th and they won’t pause the program. That’s terrible. Gym can do it, why can’t zoom?
PLEASE-Give me back my membership !- Noom works, I love the Science, Psychology and Sociology- BUT-you canceled me by mistake and I am frantically trying to reach you to correct the error ! I was starting to see real results and I wanted to let other team mates and my coach know that their advice was working, and somehow you cancelled me. I have paid for a membership from 4/17 to 7/17 and out of the blue you send me a "we are sorry to see you go" email. I am not gone-and I am trying to reach you !!! I have no access to my coach to ask her to help-so-PEASE correct your error so that I can continue my efforts.
After 5 weeks, I am not certain I would recommend it. Helpful, maybe,. I eat more mindfully now. Have I lost weight? 3 lbs, maybe. Not as much as *** when I was at the same point. I don’t do well with group work. Am better with one to one. Basically I am disappointed in the program. I did go back to day one and begin to review the material hoping I would do better.
Not fond of the group sessions but the articles are good and give you practical tips for analyzing why you eat and what you can do to break the habits. I think the program gives you too much information to put in place too quickly to change habits.
Refund policy and downplaying of terms leave me incredibly unimpressed. Deliberately done to scam those that may not be ready to commit.
I wish it were more than it is. There is not the level of support that I was hoping for, or seeing in the ads about the product. You are left to manage a great deal on your own. If I were able to manage on my own, I would have never tried Noom. Very disappointed in my own progress (or lack thereof) and the involvement with the program. Not very supportive in my opinion. I will not be renewing my initial agreement. If you are interested in further comments, feel free to reach out to me.
I did the $1 two-week trail and despite unsubscribing from the service, I was charged $99 after the trial was up and locked in for two months. I raised this issue with Noom and they were incredibly unhelpful and refused to refund me for a service I will never use. Incredibly disappointed in the ethics of this company.
The low rating is for their marketing strategy.
I do think that Noom sounds like a good idea, and it focuses on motivation, education, and inspiration among other things. But it turned out not to be the plan I was looking for.
In order to sign up for free, one has to fill in a number of upbeat pages, but I could not find out how much the plan cost. I tried using the drop down menus but there was no listing for pricing. I assumed (one should not do that!) that it was one of those apps with in-app purchases like the coaching or food. I have plenty of free apps that work this way. I signed up over my phone.
I was surprised to be charged $99 (monthly?) . I am interested in a free no frills app - not a full program. The free trial lasts 2 weeks. I did not intend to sign up for the paid plan. I was not warned that I would be charged. I was not notified how much I would be charged. After I was charged I contacted my coach right away. She directed me to cancel but she was not able to offer me a refund. I want my money back, that is the real issue.
*Noom is not up front about pricing
*Noom has a policy to not refund customer money
*Noom uses automation rather than customer service
I feel tricked, cheated, and very angry.
I love NOOM, it really helped me think about my choices and look into my pshyche about why I do what I do and how to change some deep ingrained bad behavior. Without really feeling like I was dieting, I lost 12 pounds in 2 months. I got pregnant during the program so I had to stop. I wish they did more of a tailored ending though, they just cancelled my subscription right away as soon as I told them I was pregnant. I thought the whole point was to eat healthy and make good choices, which I would (and will) continue to do in pregnancy. Although I understand why they wouldn't want to be apart of encouraging pregnant moms to lose weight! Anyway, I highly recommend noom!
I like the way it is written. I just don't seem to have time every day to read through everything.
A complete ripoff
Refund policy is criminal.
I was charged for the Noom app and service for $59.00. The app doesn’t work. I tried contacting their customer service and I get an automated response.. I tried to resolve the app issue on my own but it doesn’t work. I tried to reset my account but it says it doesn’t recognize my email but I was charged for the service. There is no way to communicate with them unless you can sign into the app.

I dislike the occasional cursing (indicated by the symbols). Navigation could be more user-friendly. I think it is redundant. Also, the nutritional information is not accurate in some cases, although the differences are small ( I have the real thing in front of me, and it is slightly different from what appears on the screen). I dislike been forced to share (but I found a way to cheat it). I would also like to be able to delete conversations when I am done with them.
They give a lot of information.
