I asked to cancel months ago! Just got charged unexpectedly AND was charged an overdraft fee. Companies like this should not exist.

This company charged my *** $99 for a service that they say has a free 14-day trial but they do not make cancellation easy, it's literally impossible. Let me explain: when you go to their website to cancel, they want you to download the app first before you can cancel. Once you download the app (and register), they tell you to click on the chat button on the upper right hand part of the screen to request for the cancellation. Which is a joke because there is NO chat button to be found. On their website, they said that if you can't find the chat button, go to settings and request for the cancellation. I did this BUT in order to cancel from settings you have to input the program ID number. I checked my emails from them, they did not give me a program number but I was able to find a course number in one of the emails and I tried that too but guess what? It did not work. What a joke.. To be honest, by this time I wasn't surprise anymore because it seems that they are doing the best they can so cancellation/refund is impossible. Because of all the trouble I had to go through just to cancel and get a refund, I decided that this is an impossible and time consuming task so I ended up filing a dispute with ***. I really feel like their company/website were designed to lure people, take their money, and leave with their money because there is no way to contact them. Their sole purpose is to scam. Hopefully, they will refund my money but just to save everyone the trouble, PLEASE do not sign up with this company because it is a scam and they will rip you off. They do not have a phone number to call for customer support, the number listed here only gives you the option to leave your name, that's it. Terrible, terrible experience.

I requested a cancellation from the Noom Coach and they never responded to me. I never received a confirmation email from the company upon signing up for a 14-day free trial (the email on my account is the correct email). The company has now billed me, but today is still within the 14-day free trial period. I believe it is bad practice to bill a consumer without proper notification of signup confirmation. I am highly displeased with this company for charging my account $129 within the 14-day free trial period and not even sending an email stating I was confirmed in their system or that I would be charged on a specific date.

Hi ***,

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience here. We apologize for the trouble you had getting your Noom trial canceled.

We're seeing that you requested to cancel your trial a couple of hours before you were scheduled to receive a charge. Cancellation requests take anywhere between 2-6 hours to get fully processed, which is why you ended up receiving a charge despite having canceled in time. Our Support Team notified you the same day (5/*/18) that we issued a full refund to the card we have on file. We also notified you on that date that your subscription to Noom had been officially canceled.

On another note: we provide an email receipt immediately upon trial sign-up explaining what time and date your Noom trial will end, how much you will be charged, and when the subscription will auto-renew. There is additional subscription information on that email receipt. We also notify customers the exact date and time they will be charged if they don't cancel their subscription on the purchase page.

Thanks for giving us a try.

Have tried more than once to contact customer service with no response. Due to a medical issue I was not able to start the program as intended. (Documentation can be provided) and the coach (only real interaction with the company) can’t do anything and has you send an email to an address that doesn’t respond.

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

Sincerely

They advertised a fun quirky personalized way to lose weight, and in the trial it was awesome. 6 weeks into the program, they completey changed the format to typical stuff you would read in any health magazine. Very boring material without personal quirkiness that I bought into at the beginning trial.

I just signed up on my desktop, and got a link via sms text to download the app to continue, but my phone doesn't support the app (old iphone), and now I can't cancel. The instructions for cancelling only apply if you can actually download the app, which I cannot! Someone better help me cancel this.

Hi ***!
Thank you for letting us know about this. We're sorry to hear you're unable to give Noom a try :(.
We see that you contacted our Support Team yesterday requesting a cancellation, and it looks like one of our Support Agents responded within the hour confirming your Noom trial cancellation. You're all set!
If you need help with anything else, don't hesitate to let us know.

I feel that Noom was not being very transparent with me when I signed up for the free trial. They did not tell me how much my plan would end up being and I assumed it would of been much lower than what they ended up charging me as I never signed up for any extra features outside of just creating an account and taking the personalized program quiz. After the 2 week period ended, I was shocked to see them charge me over 100 bucks. I have also been unable to utilize their service at all as well as they act like I never created an account with them, my email addresses don't work. Honestly based on the things I've heard I would of been unable to successfully cancel my subscription either way due to a lack of a functional pathway within the app itself. I also don't understand why I can't do everything I need to do through their website. I feel the way they have their program set up is not intuitive and causes more frustration than help. I hope they can work towards fixing this and being more honest with customers up front and should offer a refund if requested early enough even after the end of the trial especially if the customer feels they are being overcharged for poor service.

Dear ***,
Thank you so much for letting us know about this. We deeply apologize for the negative experience here. Please keep in mind that Noom Coach is an app, and though you purchased on the web, you need to install Noom to be able to use the service.
Please know that integrity is important to us and we work hard to ensure that we equip customers with the information they need in order to cancel and that, if a customer requests to cancel, their subscription gets canceled before their charge date. We’re so sorry that you were unable to do this due to the fact that you were unable to connect to your Goal Specialist.
Please know that we also have a dedicated Customer Support team here at Noom, and that they monitor all refund and cancellation requests at *** (the email address we give all customers in their payment confirmation email as well as various purchase confirmation pages) 24 hours, 7 days a week. We also have a static contact support form customers can use to get in touch with us which is always available on our website: ***.
In addition, we also have various FAQ pages where customers can find instructions on how to cancel ***. We were unable to locate record that you contacted our Support Team.
We have issued a full refund to the card we have on file and canceled your Noom subscription.
We're sorry you didn't get the chance to give us a try. We wish you the best on your health and wellness journey.
The Noom Team

I signed up for a trial and then decided not to continue with their service. I just looked at my statement and have found that they have still been charging me $129 very few months. I’m by trying to contact them to resolve the issue and can not find a way to reach them- they make it impossible. They also make it impossible to cancel their subscription. Their business practices are completely unethical and their customer support is non existent.

Noom Inc Response • Apr 18, 2018

Hi ***,
We're so sorry to hear you found it difficult to cancel your subscription. Access to the Noom Coach app is not required in order to cancel -- we have a dedicated Customer Support team here at Noom that monitors all refund and cancellation requests at *** (the email address we give all customers in their payment confirmation email) 24 hours, 7 days a week.
Please note, we also have various FAQ pages in addition to our Support Team where customers can find instructions on how to cancel ***
We deeply apologize that you had difficulty locating these cancel resources.
Please know that integrity is important to us, and in no way do we intend to surprise-charge our customers. Many customers that want to continue their Noom Program want to do so without interruption which is why we keep a subscription active unless we receive a request to cancel. We did not receive a request to cancel from you until after your charge went through, which explains why the subscription was never canceled during your free trial.
We will be exploring ways we can be more explicit about subscriptions recurring, and greatly appreciate your feedback and letting us know it wasn't clear.
We issued a full refund for the latest charge made to the card we have on file and canceled the subscription so you should be all set.
Thanks for trying Noom.
The Noom Team

I have cancelled as I did not have the time to put into this program app. I was charged an insane amount upfront for an 8 month period. After 2 weeks post free trial, the app information becomes stale, redundant, and very lacking. The worst part is their food logging area is severely deficient compared to *** or others out there. If you are charging, compared to free apps, you would think their logging mechanism would be exceptional. They also state that the reason why you do not get a prorated refund is that you can still take advantage of the services, but no services are rendered. The coach goes silent, all prior team mates have left, and the info is ridiculous.

Hi ***,
Thanks for submitting your Revdex.com complaint, we’re so sorry for the disappointment here.
We've been trying to implement new content strategies to help spice up our current curriculum -- this is the content you experienced in the first couple weeks of the program. We're happy to hear you preferred the newer articles/challenges you were receiving, and will pass this feedback along to our content team so they can continue creating this style of content to add to the program. We’re so sorry that the older articles/challenges you're now receiving has been a major disappointment and left you feeling scammed by Noom :(.
We appreciate you taking the time to write us your honest feedback. We've gone ahead and issued a pro-rated refund of $129 to your account. Please allow 2-3 business days to see the refund credited to your account. We apologize for the inconvenience and wish you a wonderful rest of your day.

Noom promises to be a psychological app for healthy living, which it was for 6 weeks. I lost weight, I felt motivated. The in-app coaches weren't great (they mostly posted what was clearly a script every week rhough the group coach was a little more motivating) but I liked the group of users and the articles were fantastic. Then I got to week 7, and all of a sudden it was a completely different experience. The articles were terrible (and clearly recycled content from other websites). It turned into an exercise and food tracker, not the psychological coach I'd been promised. Then I noticed I'd been charged 5 days ago for a full year of service. Not the monthly fee I'd been promised but the full year ($199). So now I'm left with an app that isn't what I was advertised, and a feeling like I've been had. Cancelling is difficult (as others have said), but I've begun the process and hope to receive my money back. Not only do I feel preyed upon because I wanted to lose weight, but I feel violated because I shared personal triggers/info with a company I thought cared about my psychological well-being and was helping me. I was clearly wrong; they just wanted my money with as little effort as possible.

This company has fraudulently taken money on a months basis out of my heckubg account for a subscription I had no idea had been active. They sent no receipt and made no effort to contact me while the were rendering no services whatsoever for their fitness advice and in turn quietly took my money. Not to mention that the monthly charge has been $99!

I signed up for Noom through advertisement from Samsung pay, which included a 14 day trial period and a 60% discount thereafter. I cancelled my subscription on the last day of my trial period but my account was still charged $116.10. I was not given any explaination of why I was charged that amount. There is no way to speak with a live person to resolve this issue. Even their "Live Coach" is an automated response with generic answers. I have even contacted Samsung twice for a different phobe number but they only have one that directs you to go throught their app.I would like my funds to refunded. I didnt even use the app and I cancelled in time.

Noom Inc Response • Apr 02, 2018

Hi ***

Thank you for reaching out to our Support Team, we deeply apologize for the negative support experience here. We researched your account and see that you requested a cancellation 9 hours after you were charged/your Noom trial officially ended (i.e., you were charged before requesting to cancel), which explains why the charge went through to begin with.

You signed up for the 4 month plan using the Samsung Pay promotion, which offers 10% off the 4 month plan ($116.10 instead of $129). You may have received one of our other promotional emails (unrelated to Samsung Pay) that offers 60% off the program, but moved forward with the purchasing process using the 10% offer which would explain why you were under the impression you would receive 60% off, and only received 10% off.

We're sorry to hear the pricing was unclear and that you were under the impression you would be charged a lower price. We went ahead and issued a full refund to the card we have on file.

We hope this helps and again, we're so sorry you had a negative experience! We wish you the best on your health and wellness journey.

I tried Noom last year for about a month and decided it didn't work for me. I cancelled it and had't given it a second thought. Now exactly one year after I cancelled they charged me! What the heck! I submitted a request via their website last week haven't heard anything. I tried calling and just got the same voice message over and over. Terrible customer service. I would like to have my money returned to me! Really regret ever trying this out.

Hi ***,
Thank you for taking the time to submit your review. It looks like one of our Support Agents is in touch with you.
We wanted to let you know that we don't have record that we charged your account since April 2017, since you canceled your initial subscription with us. If you were charged since then, it is likely because you have a duplicate Noom subscription. Please respond to our Support Team so we can get this sorted for you and issue a refund straight away!
We apologize for the inconvenience.

The Noom Team

Rather than just have an easy button on the app where you can cancel your trial or subscription they have hidden the information in the help section on how to cancel which in of itself is a lot of hoops to jump through. I couldnt find it and I was charged $89 I did not have at that moment. I would really recommend staying away from the app if you are not sure you want it.

Noom Inc Response • Mar 22, 2018

Hi ***,
Thank you for reviewing us. We try to include instructions to cancel in as many places as possible (in all of our support auto-replies, on our website ***, in the 'Help' section of the app). We're sorry you felt cancellation instructions were difficult to locate despite this.
We appreciate your feedback.

I signed up for the free trial--14 days. And followed the instructions to cancel the trial on March 17th--the last day of my trial period. There is no account page where you cancel. You have to message your coach on the ap--IM. My coach did not reply to my message. I sent another. And another. I sent a message to NOOM's customer service. I received no confirmation of my request to cancel. The e-mail receipt that I received when signing-up states:
"Your free 14-day trial will last until 2018-03-18. You can cancel anytime before then and will not be charged. No questions asked, no small print.
If you decide Noom is right for you, on 2018-03-18 you will be charged one payment of $149 for your 6 month Noom membership ( $24.83/month).
After your free-trial ends on 2018-03-18, your subscription fee is not-refundable. See our Refund Policy."
The "Refund Policy" is there are no refunds of any sort. Is this an honest and effective way to do business? Cancel by way of an IM? Really? The receipt says cancel "anytime" during the trial, but my coach wasn't on the IM at the time that I cancelled, I guess. Please don't tell me that I can cancel "anytime," and then make it impossible to do so.
As far as the service provided, the group support is an awkward list of messages from other participants, and the "coach" doesn't seem like a dietary/health professional. There was a question about headaches and dizziness that I felt should have been answered by a professional, but the "coach" did harp on another comment about wine calories. Who are these people? What are their qualifications?
Noom boasts a personalized program for you, but it is not individualized. For example, I was given the goal of taking 2000 steps in a day when I was already taking over 10,000. Although the Noom ap does retrieve some information from the Fitbit ap, you still have to enter exercise manually. The only positive for me was how much easier logging food is with the Noom ap.

Your trial was canceled within the time frame, and you were not charged a subscription price.
We're sorry for the frustration.

Noom's platform promises to use a 'psychology based approach' to change habits and move you towards a healthier lifestyle.
In the first few weeks, they do that. Their articles are engaging and well out together. The help adjust your habits, not just what you eat, but why.
As soon as you are complete with week 6, the app completely changes, and links you to articles and starts teaching you strength training and stretching exercises. It looses all focus on psych adjustments.
At this point though, you've already paid for the full program, and there is a strict no refund policy. This feels pretty dishonest to me, as they hook you in and then crap out on you.
You have a group coach as well as a 1-on-1 specialist. The group coach seems to be just a scripted moderator and pretty useless, and the 1-on-1 specialist does nothing to help you either. They just ask you what YOU want to set as a goal, rather than guiding you in the certain coach-like directions.

This company supposedly offers a free 14 day trial for their services, which they claim you can cancel at no cost before the trial ends by "messaging your goal specialist" . The scam is that I was never matched with a goal specialist, so now after finding this program isn't what it claims to be, I want to cancel during my free trial there is literally no way to do so. I have emailed the company insisting that they cancel my free trial and I have messaged my noom "coach" (who is not a "goal specialist') telling her the same, to no avail. This company is a fraud.I have screen shots of my attempts to cancel. They simply do not respond. I have no doubt they will not cancel my free trial despite all my efforts to do so.

Hi ***,

We are deeply sorry for the confusion here. You were assigned to a Goal Specialist, Coach ***, the very same day you signed up for the 14-day trial. It looks like *** reached out one business day after you signed up for the Noom trial, and was in contact with you throughout your trial until you canceled on the *** of March. You had access to the blue chat bubble we reference in our cancellation FAQs, and it looks like you followed those cancellation instructions properly. Because you canceled two days before the end of your trial period, your account was deactivated and you were not charged any fees. You should've received a cancellation confirmation both in the app as well as via email from ***

Thanks for giving us a try!

I saw ads for Noom on ***. I looked at the website and it app[eared to be well managed and thought out. I debated trying it out but then decided I could cancel. The problem as described by many people here is how difficult it is to cancel. I am not filing a dispute as luckily I was able to cancel from my payment side as I have been completely ignored during my frequent attempts to cancel. After viewing negative comments here I see Noom tries to claim one can email support. The font for that email is extraordinarily small and their FAQ page TELLS you to cancel via the app. In fact they say that is the only way to do so. My attempts were ignored over 5 days via the app. My attempt to email Noom was unsuccessful as it was kicked back to me saying no email found. I have images to back up every claim.

Just Say No. I wish I did.
I kept seeing their ads on *** claiming that they were the new era of weight loss, not the old fashion Weight Watchers why. I signed up for the Noom 2 week trial. They promised personal coaching as well as a supportive group environment. I ended up having a personal situation come up and missed the entire trial period. They rolled my account without contacting me. I saw it on my checking account statement for $149. I open the app. There is one thing there. A male coach name Kyp saying hello. Nothing else. I try to get a response from him, it takes several days. I ask for a woman. He says sure, signs out, and I go in a vacuum with the only responses being some questions answered by support and some not. Finally today, Kim comes on board. Instead of setting my up with a program, she tries to blow me off till Monday. I complain. She tries to make is sound like I am getting so much stuff (a group that will soon exist…whoppe.I have been a member for a month and I have NO GROUP.
I wish I had come here first. The list of complaints is a mile long. They basically are similar. No responses. No group. Poor billing practices. No refunds ever. Poor service. AI based questions that do nothing for you except fit you into a box because you must choose an answer any answer to move to the next.
YOU CANNOT SEE YOUR TERM OR SUBSCRIPTION INTO. YOU CANNOT CHANGE THE SETTINGS YOURSELF. PEOPLE IGNORE COMPLAINTS BUT WILL RESPOND SOMETIMES TO THINGS LIKKE “WHEN DOES MY MEMBERSHIP END?” Why cannot you see this yourself? Probably the better to rip off the earnest customers wanting to lose pounds but losing only money instead.
I wish I could give it zero stars. I wish I could post on a million websites that you will be sorry if you purchase this product. Its non-existent. The company is a total ripoff. And judging from the list of complaints, they do not seem to care.
STAY FAR AWAY.
