Optima Tax Relief LLC Reviews (1115)

I called Optima Tax because I continued to hear all those commercials running on satelite radio I had some old tax from a business closing back in 2005/and the IRS put a federal tax lien on me Well I figured I would give it a shot and see if this actually worked, and low and behold Optima Tax was able to get the IRS to agree to an offer in compromise for a little less than 10% of the amount owedOverall the I had a good experience and would recommend them to someone with similar issues

RESPONSE
-
Optima
Tax's management immediately reached out to the client to address his concerns
as outlined in the complaintUnfortunately, the client alleged that Optima Tax
did not fulfill its promise nor meet client's expectations. Optima Tax, however, was able to reiterate
and explain the types of services that were provided to the client. Optima Tax's program is broken down into two
phases – an Investigation Phase and the Resolution Phase. The client had hired Optima Tax only for its
Investigation Phase, during which Optima Tax had utilized a number of dynamic
methods to provide an analysis of the client's tax situation – upon being
hired, Optima Tax had immediately reached out to the IRS to assess client's tax
issues, collected client's financial information, ordered transcripts from the
IRS, formulated a resolution proposal based on all information gathered, and
ultimately presented the resolution proposal to the client. During this time, it should be noted that Optima
Tax had difficulty communicating with the client based on his busy schedule,
especially around the time in which Optima Tax needed to discuss the resolution
proposal. When Optima Tax was finally
able to present the resolution proposal to the client, it was at that time the
client decided not to continue our service
Although
Optima Tax had completely fulfilled its obligation in the Investigation Phase,
in response to client's apparent dissatisfaction and in hopes of coming to a
mutual resolve, Optima Tax made its best effort to accommodate the client's
complaint by promptly responding to all his inquiries, and by proposing a
number of options for the client to consider.
Despite our multiple follow-ups, the client unfortunately has not
responded to our proposed options. Although
the client has made harsh threats and comments regarding our service without
providing helpful facts to substantiate his comments; it is out of our sincere
respect and regards for all of our clients that Optima Tax has decided not to
negatively respond to his complaint and requests that this complaint be
recognized as being resolved.
At Optima

Optima
Tax's management had been in contact with the clients to address their concerns
During our conversation with the clients, we were informed that the clients had
assumed that Optima Tax would obtain a reduction in liability with the IRS. It
was soon apparent that there was a misunderstanding and that while Optima
strives to obtain the best possible resolution for its clients, a reduction in
liability is not an automatic outcome. Optima Tax services are broken down into
two Phases - an Investigation Phase and a Resolution PhaseDuring our
Investigation Phase, it was determined that under the IRS guidelines, the
clients unfortunately did not qualify for a reduction.
The
results of our Investigation were presented and clearly communicated to the
clients prior to moving forward with our Resolution PhaseContrary to clients'
contention that Optima communicated poorly, our records show that we did indeed
follow our internal protocols in an effort to provide great customer service,
and consequently, Optima Tax had performed its contractual obligations as
outlined in the Client Services AgreementDespite such, in light of our
continued effort to provide relief and strong customer service, we have provided
the clients with additional guidance since their complaint and they were
extremely grateful for our time and effortsWe now consider this matter closed
and in good standing.

SUMMARY - Optima Tax's management had previously attempted to address the client’s concerns in October 2017, but the client did not respond to any of our attempts to establish communication.      RESPONSE - Optima Tax’s management made numerous attempts to address the clients concerns...

months prior to receiving the complaint, only for the client to become unresponsive. As the client stated in their complaint, they hired Optima Tax Relief to represent them before the IRS. When the client initially established communication with Optima Tax Relief, the client was already subject to IRS collection activity. Although the assigned team will take efforts to prevent the IRS from implementing any enforcement action , in this case the client gave us very little time to prevent such action. Furthermore, given the severity of the case, a vast array of documents are needed to be provided to the IRS.   As noted above, Optima Tax attempted to address the client’s concerns prior to receiving the complaint. Once the Revdex.com notified Optima Tax of the complaint, we again reached out to the client immediately. The client had been thoroughly educated on the IRS process, and why would could not have the bank levy released. Although we are in a position to work with the client, the various options we presented to the client were respectfully rejected.    At Optima Tax we strive to uphold the philosophy that "clients come first" and all of our representatives go through rigorous training to assure we abide by that philosophy. We take all complaints very seriously, and we do our best to turn them around when possible. Optima Tax believes it has addressed the client's concerns appropriately and considers the matter closed. complaint. Although the client has chosen to cancel Optima Tax’s services, the client’s refund request is unreasonable. Optima Tax was tasked with having to amend multiple years of tax returns in order to establish the best resolution for the client. However, the processing time by the IRS of an amended return is significantly longer than filing an original return on time. Therefore, Optima Tax Relief was waiting for the amended returns to process before it could continue to discuss resolution options with the IRS. The client had been thoroughly educated on this process and we have no other choice but to wait on the IRS. To confirm, all tax returns have been amended and sent to the IRS for processing.   After reviewing the calls, at no point did Optima Tax state that a lien would not be filed against the client. In fact, our agreement is clear. It provides notice to the client that the IRS has the right to file a lien to protect their interest on any outstanding balance. Additionally, a voice recorded Verification Call was conducted on December 2, 2016, to ensure the client understands the actions the IRS can take, as well as the services the client contractually agreed to. During this call, the client is provided a set of legal and contractual disclosures, and each disclosure requires the client’s affirmative confirmation that they understand before moving forward with the call. One of the disclosures covers, in detail, the services the client contractually agreed to. After reviewing the voice recorded Verification call, all disclosures were presented to the client and the client provided a “yes” answer to all legal disclosures. The client also provided a level 8 rating as to his level of understanding of the disclosures, with 10 being the highest rating a client can give.   In regards to the client’s request for an itemized breakdown of the costs, Optima Tax does not provide an accounting of time because Optima Tax Relief charges a flat service fee for its services, based on the complexity of the client’s individual case. However, the client was provided with the cost for our service before entering into our Resolution Phase. ","sans-serif"">Optima Tax's management made
contact with the client to discuss his concerns as outlined in the complaintUnfortunately
however, we have yet to come to a mutually satisfactory resolutionWe are
confident that we will be able to solve this matter amicably
RESPONSE
-
Optima
Tax's management is in ongoing communications with the client in order to
address all of the client's concerns and reach an amicable resolutionIn order
to clarify, Optima's services are separated into a two phase approach, Investigation
and Resolution phaseAs the client indicated, he engaged our services on or about
October 6, to perform an investigation of his tax liabilityDespite the
client's contention that Optima Tax proceeded to do no work, Optima Tax performed
a complete investigation of the client's case, which meant from October 6,
– about November 28, 2014, a number of employees were assigned to the client's
case spending time and resources for the ultimate objective of conducting a
full investigation for the client. At
the end of the Investigation Phase, per the Client Service Agreement the client
entered into with Optima Tax, Optima Tax provided the client with a thorough
summary of our findings and our proposed resolution planParticularly during the
Investigation Phase, Optima Tax attempted to contact the IRS to verify the
nature of the pending audit hearing and ask for an extension. However, please note that the audit hearing
was scheduled for November 13, 2014, and the client had not agreed to retain us
for the next phase, Resolution Phase, until November 28, 2014. A month is hardly enough time to thoroughly
prepare for an IRS audit hearing. The
Investigation Phase alone takes about days to be completed and there was no
reasonable way to prepare for the audit in time. Had the client come to us earlier, giving us
enough time, the outcome would have been significantly different. Even if Optima Tax had attended the hearing,
the audit would have been closed because Optima Tax did not have sufficient
information to present at the hearing.
Please
note that we have informed the client a number of times that a closed audit
case is routinely reopened at the request of a taxpayer, (and we have advised
the client they can confirm this with their own outside tax attorney)... Although the audit was initially closed, Optima
Tax was prepared to represent the Client in an audit reconsideration, as
outlined in the Addendum to the Client Service Agreement, which the client entered
into with Optima TaxTherefore, Optima Tax respectfully denies any and all
accusation that our failure to attend the audit hearing resulted in additional
fees being charged by the IRS
Finally,
in regards to the client's allegations of misrepresentation and fraud, Optima
Tax has never held itself out as providing legal services, despite employing
tax attorneys and other tax professionalsEach client enrolled in our
resolution services has a tax professional which represents our client's
interests before the IRS
At
Optima Tax we strive to uphold the
philosophy that "clients come first" and all of our representatives
go through rigorous training to
assure we abide by that philosophyWe take all complaints very seriously, and
we do our best to turn them around when possible, ensuring our clients'
concerns are fully addressed and resolvedOptima Tax
will continue its efforts in resolving this unfortunate dispute until a
resolution is metThank you

",sans-serifArial Unicode MS"">Optima Tax had
successfully addressed the client's concerns back in June of
RESPONSE -
Upon receiving
client's initial concerns
in June of 2014, Optima Tax's
management contacted the client regarding her claim as outlined in the
complaintPer the contract signed by the client and the voice recorded
verification call, which recorded client's acknowledgement of Optima's services, it was
evident that the client did not hire Optima to assist with any state tax
issuesHowever, when the client brought this concern to our management, out of
our commitment to provide excellent customer service and as a courtesy,
we decided and had advised that we would only assist in a limited capacity at
no cost, i.eto prepare her state return and to provide limited guidanceIt
is regrettable that the client had perhaps misunderstood the scope of our
service at the time, however, as supported by both verbal and written evidence,
we had clearly conveyed the extent of our courtesy service to the client. Per our decision to provide such courtesy
service, the team assigned to her case prepared the necessary paperwork and to
finalize, the client was given an instruction to sign the document, gather
certain financial documents and mail everything to the stateAfter one of our
associates provided this information to her, it is our understanding that the
client was extremely thankful for all of our help
Accordingly, Optima
had gone over and beyond what was required under the service contract and had
provided the client with additional services at no extra costIn addition, we
consider this client a success story based on the end result of our
representation with the IRS. We are
confident that we had provided the client with all the necessary information to
send her documents to the state so she may resolve her liability and we
therefore consider this matter closed

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
Regards,
[redacted] I do not accept the reason given by optima. Also, we were told that direct debit would be used for us to submit our payments. We were late with our final payment to them. The rep told us that Optima could further lower the payments under the $175 a month for the final phase of the analysis. The plan In March was never finalized with the IRS. Even if I defaulted on the payment in March 2016, the automatic payments should have started April or May of 2016. They never did. The optima rep never sent out banking information to the IRS so no payments went to the IRS. My wife then called the IRS and made an arrangement for $231 a month. Optima Tax had nothing to with that arrangement. That was a lie by the made by a Mr. Leon. He was the last rep we dealt with. For them to offer us a $350 refund doesn't justify keeping $2,930 of our money to alleviate this financial burden. I consider this matter closed as optima would never admit any wrongdoing. My complaint will still stand. I hope others don't get duped and ripped off like we did.

SUMMARY - Optima Tax's management has reached out to the client prior to receiving the complaint in an effort to address their questions and concerns.   RESPONSE - Optima Tax’s management attempted to address the client’s concerns before the complaint was filed. Unfortunately the client did not...

give us an opportunity to do so. As the client stated, they provided Optima Tax with various documentation to help resolve his tax matter before the IRS. Once Optima Tax received these documents, Optima Tax reviewed these documents as well as obtained important tax information from the IRS. With this information, Optima reviewed the client’s tax liability and formulated a strategy to resolve the client’s tax liability.  Upon completion of this initial investigation phase, Optima Tax presented the client with our formulated strategy to help resolve their case in the Resolution Phases of our two phase approach. After presenting the client with our strategy, the client made the decision to enter into our Resolution Phase whereby we would establish the proposed resolution that was presented to the client. Therefore, the client was fully informed of the cost associated with our services and the services that the client would receive. At no point did Optima Tax ever guarantee or warrant that the client would receive a reduction in his tax liability.   The client’s claim that Optima Tax is engaged in bad business practices is without merit. As previously stated, the client was fully informed of the services that Optima Tax would provide and the cost for such services. Thereafter, the client voluntarily entered into our services and Optima Tax was successful in establishing a tax resolution on the client’s behalf as provided for in our Client Services Agreement. Despite Optima Tax completing the services, Optima Tax is committed to addressing the client’s dissatisfaction. Dear Sirs,This letter is in regards to my complaint submitted on 9/12/2017 against Optima Tax Relief LLC,complaint ID [redacted].I had about five conversations with Optima Tax Relief's representative. They wanted me to lower the refund I requested of $ 495.00. Their first offer was $ 100.00. In another call, the offer was $ 150.00. In a third call the offer was $ 250.00. It was a matter of principal. I could not accept anything less than the $ 495.00 I paid for them to investigate my IRS bill. I was treated with disrespect. No one answered my urgent calls, even though they said someone would contact me. At the very end, month later, I received a call from the person who was reviewing my case. They wanted to charge me $ 3,700 to continue with the case, without telling me what I could expect in return for paying this outrageous fee on an IRS bill of $ 14,000.The last email I received from Optima Tax Relief indicated they would close the case due to my refusal to accept the last offer. I could not answer this last email in the 5 days Revdex.com has indicated because my family was going through a very difficult moment. My father had a fall in the house, and died two days later in the hospital due to severe head injuries. I can send you a copy of the death certificate if need be.My desire was to add the final discussions I had with Optima Tax Relief to my complaint. This is very important to me because other potential customers of this company would understand what they might expect from Optima Tax Relief when contracting their IRS-related services. Reviews are extremely important when evaluating services and products offered by diverse companies people would otherwise not be familiar with. I am so sorry I was unable to do this. To explain in a review the difficulties I had with Optima Tax Relief without including the resolution of the matter is to publish an incomplete review. I wish you would consider my plea and I hope you understand this family matter was beyond my control. Thank you for your help. The service you provide is indispensable for customers of the companies you recommend.

Tax happened to be the worst mistake he’s made. However, as the client stated Optima Tax did resolve his case in the manner that the client had agreed in our Client Services Agreement. To say that Optima Tax “preys” on people is a completely false statement. Each client that enrolls has contacted Optima Tax for assistance. Furthermore, each client is given complete and accurate information on our services, how we approach each case, and how Optima Tax will resolve their case. To ensure each client has a full understanding of the services Optima Tax will be provide in each phase of our two phase approach, each client will go through a voice recorded Verification Call that covers the services that will be provided, along with important legal disclosures that requires a “yes” response before moving forward. After reviewing both Verification Calls, the client agreed to all disclosures, including but not limited to, the fact that a reduction is not guaranteed and must be accepted by the Tax Authority. Additionally, at no point did Optima Tax promise, guarantee or insinuate that the client would receive any form of reduction. After speaking with the client, he did confirm that he had high hopes of receiving some form of reduction, but confirmed that he was never guaranteed that his case qualified for a reduction. We also discussed the fact that not every client meets the criteria to submit for a lump sum payment. After discussing these matters with the client, we are pleased to say that we have come to a mutual agreement that satisfies all parties involved.    At Optima Tax we strive to uphold the philosophy that "clients come first" and all of our representatives go through rigorous training to assure we abide by that philosophy. We take all complaints very seriously, and we do our best to turn them around when possible. Optima Tax believes it has addressed the client's concerns appropriately and will consider this matter closed. Please do not hesitate to contact Optima Tax with any questions. Thank you.

They are correct that they tried twice  to reach me without success, but we did connect on the third attempt and the matter has been resolved.  I'm sure that with the holidays, this just hasn't updated completely.

Regards,
[redacted]As of 10/02/2017, I have received only half of $719.00 I've agreed to close this complaint.  [redacted] of Optima Tax assured me that the 2nd half of the $719.00 was issued and mailed to me via USPS with a tracking number as of 09/29/2017.  I checked the tracking number with USPS, no such number have been recorded.  Attached is a copy agreeing to dismiss the complaint if I agree to the amount of $719.00.  I call OptimaTax Relief Office, 10/02/2017.  After waiting at least 15 minutes on the phone waiting to talk to [redacted], they told me she was out to lunch, then later came back and told me she was gone for the rest of the day. They claimed she has not send out the check yet but [redacted] claimed the check was issued and mailed last Friday, Sept. 29, 2017.  So I don't know what is going on.  I would like to bring a closure to this complaint but it seems like I am getting the run around again

I am most greatful to the employees at Optima Tax Relief that help me through this tax problem I had with the IRS. I am forever thankful for all their efforts and help with helping me. I owed 30,000.00 and they got it down to $100.00 dollars. Wow I am so appreciative. Thank You Optima ..

SUMMARY - Optima Tax's management has established communication with the client and has come to a mutual resolve.   RESPONSE - Optima Tax management had attempted to establish communication with the client to address their concerns prior to receiving the complaint. Unfortunately, the client...

was not receptive and did request that Optima Tax cease communication as stated in their complaint.   As the client stated, the client engaged Optima Tax’s services due to an outstanding tax issue. Optima Tax’s services are provided in a two phase approach, which the client was thoroughly educated on. The initial phase, the Investigation phase is strictly informative and at no point did the assigned Tax Associate inform the client that we would reduce their debt and resolve their case in the initial phase.   Optima Tax takes all the necessary steps to ensure our client’s have a full and complete understanding of the contracted services. Our contract is provided to each client prior to receiving payment and each client will go through a voice recorded verification call. On January 3, 2018 the client went through a voice recorded Verification Call that covers the services the client contractually agree to along with all legal disclosures with each disclosure requiring a “yes” answer in order to continue with the call. After reviewing the call the client answered “yes” to all disclosures and gave a 10 rating to their level of understanding to the services Optima Tax will provide during the Investigation Phase with 10 being the highest rating a client can give. If the client expressed any confusion or questioned the services they contractually agreed to, the call would have stopped and the client would be transferred back to the Tax Associate to address any follow up questions. In this case, the client had a full and complete understanding to the services and the investigation process began.   After reviewing the case in detail, Optima Tax preformed its services as outlined in the agreement in full. We provided the client with clear and precise details on how we would resolve their case in the second phase, the Resolution phase. Unfortunately the client decided to pursue other options and did not proceed with our Resolution phase.   At Optima Tax we strive to uphold the philosophy that "clients come first" and all of our representatives go through rigorous training to assure we abide by that philosophy. We take all complaints very seriously, and we do our best to turn them around when possible. Optima Tax believes it has addressed the client's concerns appropriately and considers the matter closed. complaint. Although successful in intervening to prevent any levies, ultimately the IRS has the right to issue a lien at any time in an effort to recoup the outstanding balance owed by the client.
