Optima Tax Relief LLC Reviews (1115)

The
client is correct in stating that our initial Phase, the Investigation Phase,
was to cost $995.00. However, he also agreed and understood, both in writing as
well as verbally, that there would be an additional retainer if he chose to
move forward with our Resolution Phase. We feel that if he was truly misled he
would not have enrolled into our Resolution Phase and paid the secondary
retainer. Despite our best efforts to come to a mutual understanding, by
providing the client with multiple options to resolve this unfortunate dispute,
the client has ultimately refused to cooperate. Transparency is very important
to us at Optima Tax, which is precisely why all documentation, including our
Client Services Agreement, is presented and agreed to by our clients before we
begin our services. Moreover, this is why each and every one of our clients
goes through a detailed Verification
Call that covers all disclosures, to which they understand and agree. In our
Agreement and our Verification Call we inform the client that we cannot
guarantee any specific outcome or reduction in the overall tax liability.
Again, the client confirmed and understood the services he signed up for. As
stated in our initial response, we can provide both the Client Services
Agreement and the Verification Call to confirm the client understood there
would be an additional fee as well as the overall scope of our services.

Using Optima Tax Relief was one of the best experiences I've ever had. They were always professional, informative, and clear with helping us in our time of need. We were behind in our taxes for 7 years. Working with this company was worth the money we paid. We are now able to sleep at night and we don't have to worry about losing our possessions anymore. We will pay a comfortable amount to the IRS each month and feel at ease for the next few years.
Thank you OTR for all you've done to help us in our time of need.
[redacted] and [redacted] Haynes

I would give zero stars if I could. The entire process was an absolute joke. We were desperate. I effed up on our taxes, I get it. I don't blame Optima for my crisis. What I do blame them for is their inability to come through and the amount of time it took them to not come through. I'll save you my sob story...3 years later they said I needed to come up with a $15K cash payment immediately and sign up for an $850/mo installment agreement or I was going to tax lien. After 3 years of getting jerked around I was done, and I mean TOTALLY jerked around; not just a little...a lot. Multiple case managers, high employee turnover, lost messages, no return calls, always someone knew calling who had to "check with someone else and get back to me". TOTAL waste of time and money. I went directly to the IRS for help and I was able to get a better deal by spending 4 hours in the office and $ZERO$ dollars. The person that helped me said they see this all of the time and he said Optima is a scam and he wishes more people would just come directly to the IRS for assistance. I agree completely - this company is a scam. If you owe...PAY. No one has a magic wand to erase your debt. They can't do anything that you can't do on your own. The difference is $4500 to have them jerk you around and give you false hope for three years while YOU incur penalties and interest. HEED MY WARNING...I learned the hard way.

SUMMARY - Optima Tax's management has reached out to the client to address their concerns as outlined in the complaint and we’re working towards a mutual resolve.   RESPONSE - Optima Tax’s management has been in contact with the client to address the claims as outlined in the complaint. It’s...

unfortunate that the client feels as if they were “bullied” into our services but after careful review, we fail to see how the client was scared into having Optima Tax represent him before the [redacted]. When the client hired Optima Tax for representation the client was in active collections. As a result, the assigned Tax Associate informed the client about every aspect of their case and the actions the [redacted] can take while the client is in active collections. Ultimately, after thoroughly being informed about the offered services and the associated cost, the client agreed to move forward with Optima Tax’s services.   The client was fully informed of his obligation to make estimated tax payments, despite the client’s statement that he was not aware of such obligation. In fact, the assigned Tax Associate informed the client that one of the reasons why he owes the [redacted] was due to the lack of estimated tax payments. The assigned Case Manager also informed the client that he must make estimated tax payments as we continue moving forward with a final resolve with the [redacted]. We understand that the client is not currently in a position to make estimated tax payments, but this is no fault of Optima Tax because the client was made fully informed of his obligation. The services were presented to the client clearly, including what is expected part of the client in order to achieve the best resolution possible.   Lastly, Optima Tax does not provide bookkeeping services. This is precisely why we asked the client to organize all his paperwork in order for Optima Tax to properly prepare the past due tax returns. While the tax returns are processing we also require the client to provide additional paperwork in order for Optima Tax to conduct a thorough financial analysis. In turn, the financial analysis helps with achieving the best possible outcome with the [redacted]. Without the client’s cooperation, Optima Tax does not have access to this financial information, and it’s the client’s responsibility, as outlined in the agreement, to provide those requested documents. After receiving various financial documents from the client, the assigned Tax Professional established a Non-Collectable Status for the client which will prevent the [redacted] from continuing its collection efforts.   At Optima Tax we strive to uphold the philosophy that "clients come first" and all of our representatives go through rigorous training to assure we abide by that philosophy. We take all complaints very seriously, and we do our best to turn them around when possible. Optima Tax believes it has addressed the client's concerns appropriately and is confident that a mutual resolve will be achieved. Please do not hesitate to contact Optima Tax with any questions. Thank you.

After receiving letters from the I.R.S., I contacted Optima. They reviewed my case and we decided they could help me. The tax prep department worked hard at making sure I received all deductions possible. At the end I actually received a refund. Optima was a great partner in this endeavor and was responsible for the extremely satisfactory outcome. I have recommended them and will continue to do so.

Please note in reference to complaint number [redacted] Optima Tax’s management has reached out to Ms. [redacted] but unfortunately
has had very little communication with the client regarding her concerns beyond
the initial phone calls that were placed...

upon receiving the Revdex.com complaint. Furthermore,
we would like to note that Ms. [redacted]’s proposed resolution services are fairly
complex and it appears the client may not fully understand our strategy and the
benefits behind it.
Unfortunately, the client has indicated she is not pleased
with our proposed solution and feels as if we did not provide a service. However,
upon review of her file, Optima Tax has worked her case as outlined in the
Client Services Addendum and more importantly, stayed within the guidelines of
the IRS to give her what we believe is the best possible resolution in hopes of
being able to prevent the client from having to pull money from her retirement.
We will continue to make any and all efforts to assure the
client receives the best possible outcome with our firm and encourage Ms. [redacted]
to respond to our attempts to reach her so we can hopefully reach an amicable
understanding. Communication is the key to our business relationship with our
clients and we strive to uphold this philosophy. Please do not hesitate to
contact Optima Tax with any questions. Thank you.

SUMMARY - Optima Tax's management has been in contact with the client and we are...

working towards a mutual resolve.   RESPONSE - Optima Tax’s management has been in communication with the client to address his concerns as outlined in the complaint. As the client stated, he hired Optima Tax for representation as he was being audited for a specific year. Our internal Audit Team reviewed all the documentation the client provided regarding the Audit. Based off our analysis, the client had already received credit. Furthermore, the client signed off on the Audit report accepting full responsibility for the outstanding liability.   Once we completed our Audit Review the client was transferred to our Resolution Team. As outlined in the agreement, the next step would be to negotiate a favorable payment plan that was affordable for the client and satisfies the IRS so they refrain from initiating additional action to collect on the client's outstanding liability. This includes but not limited to, protecting any potential assets from seizure or having the client liquidate said assets to satisfy the outstanding balance. The payment plan was negotiated on behalf of the client and agreed upon by the IRS on February 5, 2016.   Unfortunately, during the process of coming to a final resolve on the case the client did receive a bank levy. What the client failed to state in his complaint is that Optima Tax was successful in releasing most of the funds the IRS took during this levy. Given the severity of the liability, the IRS does have the legal right to issue enforcement action regardless of our representation.   We can sympathize with the client regarding their concerns with communication however; based off the complexity of his case communication was consistent and the client was thoroughly informed that the audit review process was lengthy and time consuming. There were also certain delays on the review as we did not have the full audit report on file.   At Optima Tax we strive to uphold the philosophy that "clients come first" and all of our representatives go through rigorous training to assure we abide by that philosophy. We take all complaints very seriously, and we do our best to turn them around when possible. Optima Tax believes it has addressed the client's concerns appropriately and will continue to reach out to the client until we come to a final resolve. Please do not hesitate to contact Optima Tax with any questions. Thank you.

SUMMARY - Optima Tax's management has been in...

contact with the client since receiving the complaint and we’re working towards a mutual resolution.    RESPONSE - Optima Tax’s management has been in communication with the client to address his concerns as outlined in the complaint. Unfortunately Optima Tax was not aware of his concerns until after the complaint was filed. If the client had expressed his concerns regarding our services prior to make this complaint, Optima Tax is confident that it would have sufficiently dispelled any of the client’s concerns.     Optima Tax has conducted a thorough review of the client’s file and we are confident that the client was fully informed of our secondary fees to move forward with our Resolution phase. The client’s assigned Tax Associate is trained to present Optima Tax’s two Phase approach, with each phase requiring a separate retainer. In the happenstance that a Tax Associate did not fully disclose to a client during their initial consultation that a secondary fee would be required in order to move into our second phase, our Client Services Agreement clearly and unambiguously discloses Optima Tax’s two phase approach and the existence of a secondary fee for the Resolution Phase. Additionally, the client went through a voice recorded Verification Call that covers all legal disclosures including but not limited to the existence of a secondary fee in the event that the client decided to enroll in our Resolution Phase. Each disclosure requires a “yes” answer before moving forward. After reviewing the call, the client answered “yes” to each disclosure. At the conclusion of the Verification Call, the client rated Optima Tax a 9 out of 10, 10 being the most informed of the services being provided.   It’s unfortunate that the client feels as though his Tax Associate used scare tactics. It is our job to inform the client of any and all possibilities that may occur while having an outstanding balance with the IRS. This includes but not limited to wage garnishments, levies and bank seizures if the debt is not satisfied in a timely manner. However, at no point do our Tax Associates use coercion, duress, or undue influence when disclosing the potential outcomes that a client may encounter when the client has an outstanding tax liability.   The complexity of the client’s case ultimately dictates the cost associated with our Resolution Phase. Although we have no doubt that other firms may charge less, Optima Tax is confident in the quality of services that it provides and the peace of mind that our clients are given when they engage our services.. As the client pointed out, Optima Tax does have negative reviews. However, our numerous positive reviews outweigh our negative reviews and accurately depict the satisfaction of our many clients. Moreover, those positive reviews are from graduated Optima Client’s that were gracious enough to share their success stories and to show that Optima Tax will go the extra mile to achieve the best result possible. Thank you.

SUMMARY - Optima Tax's management reached out to the client prior to receiving the complaint in an effort to address their concerns.   RESPONSE - Optima Tax’s management established communication with the client and provided the client with a detailed explanation regarding our two phase...

approach. As the client stated, they hired Optima Tax to investigate her case and present her with our findings along with our formulated strategy to resolve the case in the next phase. The assigned team established communication with the IRS and obtained any and all necessary information related to the outstanding liability.   Prior to commencing our services the client was thoroughly informed of our two-phase approach. The client was also aware that each phase requires a separate fee for the services Optima Tax will perform. To ensure the client fully understands our approach, each client will go through a voice recorded Verification Call. During this call, the client is provided a set of legal and contractual disclosures, and each disclosure requires the client’s affirmative confirmation that they understand before moving forward with the call. One of the disclosures covers, in detail, the services the client contractually agreed to. After reviewing the voice recorded Verification call, all disclosures were presented to the client and the client provided a “yes” answer to all legal disclosures. The client also provided a level 9 rating as to her level of understanding of the disclosures, with 10 being the highest rating a client can give.   On or around September 21, 2017 Optima Tax completed the initial investigation and scheduled an appointment with the client on September 26, 2017 to go over the results. The assigned Tax Associate presented the client with our findings and what is required to move forward with the Resolution Phase. Based off our review, the client declined moving forward with the Resolution Phase. Additionally, the services for the initial phase, the Investigation Phase were rendered in full.   At Optima Tax we strive to uphold the philosophy that "clients come first" and all of our representatives go through rigorous training to assure we abide by that philosophy. We take all complaints very seriously, and we do our best to turn them around when possible. Optima Tax believes it has addressed the client's concerns appropriately and considers the matter closed. Please do not hesitate to contact Optima Tax with any questions. Thank you.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
1. "Optima Tax had presented the client with a partial refund" - "partial" refund? How partial? I had never seen the mail or email offering a refund in percent-wise or absolute amount.2. "despite Optima Tax having fully performed its obligations." - If Optima Tax would had me informed about what resolution they had in mind, I would never agree to pay for it.3. "individual case is different, and the IRS will request different information depending upon individual circumstances." - I was not informed to maintain those documents, and it was not illegal not to have what Optima Tax demanded from me. 4. "assigned team still achieved a very favorable resolution on behalf of the client" - it did not do me any favor at all - I expected a resolution way before 2017 when hardship situation started.5. "The assigned team obtained a Non-Collectable Status based off the client’s hardship and successfully resolved the case."  - No, the case was not resolved for me, and at the enrollment time there was no statement that this Non-Collectable Status would be any countable achievement. I did not ask for it, and did not agree to pay for it. 6. "The resolution the assigned team negotiated on behalf of the client, puts him in a position where he does not have to pay the debt unless his financial circumstances change" - Optima seriously took my money to target this goal? At the time? - I was under impression that client gets what he/she negotiated and agreed for.   So, here I show I see the situation: at the time there was a problem, I asked Optima Tax to help me with - it was September 2015. "In June of 2017, Optima Tax had presented the client with a partial refund" - my question is: what did Optima do for almost two years worth paying for?   I was promised that the resolution would take a few months, once again: I expected a resolution way before 2017 when the hardship situation started. And proving the hardship in 2017 was not the goal I had payed for in 2015.

The team at Optima Tax Relief LLC, were with me every step of the way. They handled everything that the IRS threw at me. I would use Optima again. They came highly recommended by [redacted].

I cannot say enough positive things regarding my experience with Optima Tax Relief. I first contacted them several years ago about an unfiled tax matter. The stress of expecting the IRS to arrive at my doorstep at any moment was crippling. The staff at Optima Tax Relief were wonderful from the very beginning. [redacted] was so professional, kept me updated and calm over the 2+ years it took to get my situation resolved. And the resolution was from what could have been me owing the IRS over $80k to me owing absolutely nothing! Save yourself the anxiety and call Optima Tax Relief - they really, really are the real deal!

I was very impressed with the level of professionalism displayed by optima tax experts. I felt really supported every step of the way. I would recommend Optima to anybody and I most definitely will. Prompt, courteous, knowledgeable and always ready to answer my questions. Thank You Optima for a job WELL done.

Once again Optima is attempting to deflect their dishonest behavior unto us. We are not denying that when we contacted Optima that we owed the IRS and that our past due taxes were active for collection. Whenever you owe the IRS you are active for collections that's why were in a payment plan which initially Optima was denying. There were no garnishments or liens against us despite how Optima is trying to spin this situation. After the initial assessment which cost $995, the sales rep [redacted] was so anxious to get the remaining money that even after being told not to charge to the credit card on file, he disregarded what I said and charge my card. I had to dispute with my credit card company to get them to quickly re-credit. Even while waiting for the credit to occur [redacted] was asking for the other card so he could charge. I told him no, not until after the other card had been re-credited. Once again let me reiterate that the only thing Optima did was file 2014 taxes which resulted in a small refund which Optima is trying to take credit for. Optima did not negotiate anything with the IRS for us to get that refund. Even though email correspondence from Optima said someone would contact us about the different programs Optima offered, no one ever did and whenever we requested information about the different programs our questions went unanswered. What we did received was a rep who we had to verbally fight with in order to be heard and whose only interest was to get us to sign an agreement so she could hustle us along like a car on a assembly line. Both [redacted], [redacted] and [redacted] were asked about the programs and none of them would be truthful with us. They were all evasive. [redacted] was asked by both my husband and myself about making a "lump sum" payment to the IRS and her response was "you have to sign the agreement before any further discussions about programs would take place". Once we sign the agreement we could never reach [redacted] anymore. Phone calls and messages were never returned. The only call was [redacted] who said she was closing our account. This is what Optima expects consumers to pay for and tolerate. If this type of business conduct isn't deceitful, dishonest and unethical then I don't know what is. Optima needs to refund all our money. They didn't earn it..

The people there are very nice, but they don't do what they say.. I needed help getting my IRS bill down and they promised they could help and said I could get the fresh start program that [redacted] has been advertising.... My payments were $150 a month before I called Optima after several months they call and say we have good news for you. They got my payment down to $140... The $2000 + money that I paid them to help me I could have used to pay down the balance of what I owe the IRS.... I am so disappointed in this company and I will make sure that I get the word out there to people that they do not to what they say and it is not worth the money you have to pay them for there so called help.

You always hear the commercials, when you contact them for tax relief they will not help you if are already making payments to the IRS. NICE HELP.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
As before - Optima makes no attempt at all in resolving the issue - all the company keeps repeating is "we did everything agreed to in writing". This is not a resolution, and by continuing to repeat the same line on this forum, they are hoping that I fail to respond in a timely manner so that Revdex.com will consequently close the case.
The company saying that they have repeatedly contacted me is a lie - my last two emails and two voice messages still remain unanswered. Optima leaves me no choice but to pursue legal means, followed by a very visible campaign to expose them on public media for their fraudulent business practices.

I see from reading your email from Optima that this lady stated that she had reached out to me numerous times she is lying as do all people who defraud people. I heard from this woman only once and I replied to her email saying that I wanted so see in a pdf format all of the documentation that Optima did on my behalf with the IRS to this date 03/17/2018 I have never received any documentation from Optima showing where they did work for me with the IRS. The response this lady gave to you Revdex.com is a load of BS these people all all lying and they have no intentions of forwarding me the documentation I have asked for. These people have never reached out to me for the last 7 months that alone shows they have committed fraud. They even told me that they do income tax returns this is a lie and a joke come to think of it. If these people were honest and did what they say they do then I would not be writing this reply to you Revdex.com. Also have this lady produce the emails and phone calls to me if any to prove she has tried to contact me numerous times!!![redacted]
