Please note, this is a copy and paste of the company I have the complaint with from my credit card statement. It is the only information I have which clearly shows their phone number regardless of the name this company goes by.$12.55PEOPLEFINDERS.COM 00800-718-8997 CA1415084400000Nov 4 2014Nov42014PEOPLEFINDERS.COM 00800-718-8997 CA$24.95 ...⇄ Updating Results ... I am rejecting this response because: it is completely untrue. I never contacted this company whatsoever to request their services. I have no idea how they claim I did. If they took my money without making sure first it was me who was requesting their services, it is not my fault, therefore is not responsibility.I am outraged at their response that I accepted these charges.I would like them to give me a written statement where it shows how many times I used their website during those 2 months. If I accepted to pay them $24.99 a month, surely I used their website, I would be stupid to pay them money and not take advantage of their services. They are liars and scammers.[redacted]
We feel we have already addressed these concerns. Cancelling a membership is the same as canceling the automatic renewal.
Our website offers our products with our without a membership. The attached screen shots show a sample name entered in our search section. After clicking on the match the customer would like more information on, they are taken to the Product Selection Page then the Check out Page that both state that the product us coming with a membership.
Our records show your [redacted] trial membership was started on 10/19/2015 and successfully cancelled via email on 10/21/2015, within the three day trial. We are concerned because the interaction you are describing was not with PeopleFinders.com. Our phone number is [redacted]...
[redacted]. Please compare that number to the one you called. We do accept cancellations online, via email and over the phone. We want to stress that we will never remote-connect to a customer's computer.
We were not able to find an account using the e-mail address you supplied. We are sorry that you did not receive the results you were hoping for. When you order a report, our system searches through billions of public records and collects every piece of relevant information. PeopleFinders pays for...
access to this data, so the charge is for us to conduct a search on your behalf, not to return a specific result. Please review the Terms of Use on PeopleFinders.com if you would like more information about refunds or other policies.
We have reviewed the account associated with the information provided here and found that it has no recent activity. This account was closed online, however, recently on 2/24/2015. We found the account we believe you are referring to registered entirely separately using...
different information. At the time of purchase you chose to receive a discounted price for signing up for a 3 day trial to our Membership. You had the option to cancel this membership trial at anytime via your account manager on the website, via email, or via phone. We did not receive any notification that you wished to cancel this trial. The 3 day trial had ended; therefore, you were charged the membership fee on the fourth day, and for every month thereafter. We did not receive cancellation for this account until a phone call to a representative on 3/26/2015. Per this complaint, and as a onetime courtesy, we will refund one membership fee of $24.95 for the most current month of membership (3/22/2015).
We want to make sure you are aware your Revdex.com complaint was placed to PeopleFinders.com through the Revdex.com and not PeopleFinder.com. Additionally, we do not have a representative named [redacted] in our Customer Care department. Therefore we believe you may be contacting the wrong company. Our contact information is below if needed.PeopleFinders.com Customer Care(800) 718-8997Monday-Friday 7:00AM-6:00PM (PST)Saturday-Sunday 7:00AM-11:30AM and 12:30PM-3:30PM (PST)
I am rejecting this response because: I did not call in to their customer care. I was able to stop recurring charges online. I would still like a refund of the 25$ they stole
Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to my concern, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. Thank you for giving at least most of the money I see you took afyrt all only 9.95 from my account so I feel the matter closed .
I am rejecting this response because:The terms of this offer were not adequately explained. No email was sent explaining that I had accepted this plan. No receipt was sent for this plan (although I did receive a receipt for the one search I performed). I did not make any other searches after the initial one nor did I use any of the benefits outlined.I don't think that the terms of this plan are clearly stated or followed up on. Rather it is hidden, unclear when the initial search is performed. PeopleFinders does not send any monthly receipts or statements. I only found out about these charges when I opened my credit card statement. By then I had been charged not once but twice for a total amount of $49.99. I have not used any of these services at any time before or since and believe I am entitled to a full refund.PeopleFinders should look carefully at the way this program is presented and implemented to avoid fraudulent use of the credit card number I provided to pay for the initial search I believe this plan is deliberately confusing and obscure to lure consumers to sign up without their knowledge. This way PeopleFinders can collect at least the first two months of fees before the consumer is the wiser. This iis an instance of computer fraud and scam schemes.
We apologize for the confusion. It appears that the customer had selected a Premium Membership to be active on that same day. However, we went ahead and refunded the $14.98 today.
I am rejecting this response because I feel that I've been duped into a erroneous 3-day trial period providing outdated info along with numerous other consumers as indicated on [redacted] which lists 19 pages of consumer complaints. It was my understanding that the 3-day trial would be a $1.95 "one time" payment. However, received the 1st bill in August for July charge of $24.95 and contacted Peoplefinders to dispute the charge but agreed to pay the $24.95 billed as I was advised by the rep that there would be NO further charges so I promptly paid the bill. In Sept. received a 2nd bill for $24.95 and contacted Peoplefinders to dispute the charges and spoke to rep [redacted] who advised me that a credit would issued for the full amount. Received the 3rd bill on October 10thfor $24.95 with a payment due date of November 10th, 2014 I then contacted Peoplefinders again to dispute the charges but was told that I had to contact my credit card company.
I am rejecting this response because:I received notification that I had made a purchase, and that it was charged to my credit card. I did not receive notification that I supposedly signed up for a trial membership, nor that or when I was charged for such membership should I not cancel by a certain date. Even if I did sign up for such membership, I have no evidence of it or notification -- which is why I cannot attach anything, because such e-mail or other notice does not exist. Clearly, I was being misled to believe I had only made the initial purchase. this remains a very bad business practice to me. Do you have evidence of me signing up? can you please put that forward? Otherwise, I remain to assume that you continued to charge my credit card without authorization. Thank You. [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:perhaps now there is a disclaimer or the URL has been updated. I read the terms and no mention of a cancellation fee was provided.
We apologize for any confusion. There are 2 accounts we find in your name. The first account was set up on 7/04/15 with a charge of $0.97 and $0.98. This is the account the rep found when you called in. After doing further research, we found a more recent account set up on 1/13/16 ( these are the...
charges in your question) They were for a reverse phone search on #[redacted] for $0.48. You then received a voucher for a second search at $0.47. You had also signed up for a membership at that time for $24.95. However, we have refunded you the $24.95. There will be no further billings.
I am rejecting this response because ; it is not true. I got no report if I log on and try to read it they will bill me again.
Please provide the email in which the account was opened to assist in locating the account.
I am rejecting this response because: I just wanted to sign up for classmates. I'm a newbie on the computer. I haven't even been on the site.
I am rejecting this response because: I never agreed to prechecking the 3 day trial that was hardly visible on the .95 cent report. That practice is highly deceptive marketing.
