Power Home Remodeling Group Reviews (609)

A salesman visiting my mothers house (78 yrs old and widowed, living alone) and gave her a quote of $31,800 for replacing a roof, fixing some "broken" beams in the attic, and adding a ventilation system. We proceeded to get 3 quotes from reputable local firms we have done business with in the past. We had them check the attic for ventilation issues and inspect the "broken beams." All 3 said they did not see the "damage" that the salesman from Power reported. All 3 had a quote for full repair under $10,000. After leaving numerous messages with them via phone and Facebook to call me, they finally called my mother back. The caller defended the quote saying their quality is top of the line and they would never take advantage of anyone. Please get multiple quotes regardless of what they say. We have found their assessment of the damage to be incorrect and 3x's the price of reputable contractors that I personally trust. I have a hard time letting go when I know someone is out there trying to take advantage of people.

If deceptive sales tactics are "simply not tolerated," then let me know how you've addressed this situation with the salesperson involved.

Dear [redacted], We pre-screen our customers in order to determine eligibility for our no money down offer. This pre-screening process does not result in a hard check on your credit, nor have we applied for third party financing on your behalf.  This is no different than the pre-approved credit card or car dealership offers you routinely receive in the mail. No sensitive information was given to [redacted] by Power – only your name and address.  For individuals who do not wish to receive these offers, [redacted] allows for an opt-out.   However, the opt-out process requires certain personal information in order for [redacted] to ensure they are opting out the correct individual.  This information is held in strict privacy and is not shared with us or any other institution.  Please see [redacted]’s privacy policy for more information. You should also be aware that prescreened offers can provide many benefits.  In fact, some of these pre-approved products carry more favorable rates than those available to the general public. Please contact me directly if you have any questions or would like to further the discussion on this topic.  I can be reached via the information noted below.Respectfully,Eamon L[redacted] Director of Warranty Service PHONE: ###-###-#### FAX: ###-###-#### WEB: http://www.powerhrg.com Power Home Remodeling Group Tell us why here...

Extreme sales pressure on my 88 and 91 year old parents. Convinced my parents their roof was in such bad condition, including cracked rafters, that the roof would likely collapse on them in their sleep with the first snow fall of the season. Quoted them a ridiculous price and parents agreed. Next day, after having time to think things through, my parents decide to cancel. Another rep came to the house to get the "cancellation form" signed and after another 4 hour high pressure sales pitch, parents signed the contract with an additional charge of $4000! Next day a third rep (gutter expert) came to the house and told my parents the present gutter system will not work with the "new roofing system" and that new gutter system will cost another $2000. They have 3 days to cancel. My parents are shaken to their core! $26,000 for roof and gutters and they don't have enough time to get other estimates. This time my husband will be there when they sign the "cancellation form" as back up and will be ready to call the police if this rep does not leave!

 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:  This response is the most upsetting of all of their responses.  He offered to remove the hit on my credit report if I were to sign a form.  WHAT!!  He didn't ask for a signed form to run the credit report.  What I really do't understand is why this company believed they had the right to run the credit report in the first place.  The reason I don't understand this is because when I returned from the home show I immediately called the company to CANCEL my appointment.  I know this report was not run on that afternoon especially since it was on a weekend.  What this means is that this company ran my credit report after they were fully informed that I no longer wanted to do business with them.  The second reason I don't understand why they thought they had the right to run the report is that I NEVER discussed any financing with them.  When I have a new roof put on my house it wil certainly NOT be with this company, nor do I need to have anyone finance the cost of it for me.  This company has no ethics and I will be sure to tell everyone I can that they should not be trusted or used for any type of work that they need done to their house.    No thanks!!!! I don't want you to remove anything with or without my signature.  I just find it unbelievable that you don't see how absurd your response by asking for my signature to fix it when  you didn't need it to run the report.  Regards,
George K[redacted]

Subject: Complaint Number : [redacted]
To: "[email protected]" <[email protected]>
This message is for [redacted] regarding our phone call (9:28) on May 7, 2014 in the body of this email is the information you told me I should write to handle this situation. Since last time my issue was not resolved and the complaint was closed.
On April 28 2014 I received an email directly from [redacted] form the Powers Remodeling company. He asked for both names, both dates of births, both social security numbers, our address and the date that the credit was pulled as reported on our credit report and for both of us to sign this letter. This email was sent to me at 3:03 pm. I responded to the email letting him know I sent this information to his office on March 31, I do not see why again I have to send out the letter which includes all our vital information. On April 29 yahoo sent me an email stating: Remote host said: 554 5.7.1 messages cannot be accepted, content filter rejection Revdex.com Not form IP, Body has Revdex.com & Remote Send [BODY].
As I am writing this email to you [redacted] gave me a phone call at 9:41. Saying he received a call from [redacted] and he wanted to reach out to me directly to try and resolve the situation. He had me on hold for 5 minutes while they tried to locate the email that I sent on March 31, 2014 via fax number ###-###-#### to [redacted], which is a valid fax and an employee that works in the financial department according to **. [redacted].
**. [redacted] stated that they were unable to locate this fax that I sent. I do have a confirmation I am from working in a court house that sometimes the fax does not go through even though you have a confirmation.  He stated that I needed to send the information again but to send the fax to ###-###-#### attention [redacted]. I told him that since my husband needed to sign again I would not be able to send the fax until tomorrow as we are both at work currently. When both my and my husband called after for several days, it would have been professional for them to state they did not receive the fax instead of ignoring my phone calls. I told him I have to have my husband sign this letter (I don’t keep things with all our vital information lying around) so I need to write a new letter
Although he has reached out and called after he spoke with [redacted] I still wish to send the email so that there is a record because I have been trying to work with this company for over a month now to get this reversed. I will be faxing him Thursday morning: Full Names, D.O.B, SS#s
[redacted]; 12/02/1985; [redacted]; 01/07/1989; [redacted]
Address: [redacted] CT [redacted]
Date Pull as reported on report is: March 26, 2014
He said that this would take five days for this to resolve. **. [redacted] will be receiving the fax form ###-###-####. I hope that this time the compliant is not closed before this issue has been resolved because it was close early last time without everything being resolved. I would like the compliant to stay open until it is resolved.
Thank you for your time in this matter

I scheduled a time for a meeting with the sales person for an estimate on repairs that would be good for one year.
The salesman showed up, very knowledgeable and went over some pricing, I informed him we could not get the work done at this time however within a year was possible. He was very insistent we should do it now " Pressure Tatics " However once he realized we were not going to buy tonight he politely ran out of here, did not leave me the estimate that is supposed to be good for a year and 30 days he said.
needles to say you can forget my future business. Thanks for your time Mark!

Dear **. & [redacted],I have reviewed your complaint and personally investigated the matter.  Power Home Remodeling inspected the bay window on two occasions.  The Field Service Manger’s inspection determined there are no manufacturing defects or issues with the installation.  As...

indicated on the window sticker and advised by the Field Service Manager, the wood veneer of the bay window headboard, seatboard and jambs must be finished with paint, stain or vanish within ten days of installation. Please contact us directly so that we may assist you with the steps to finish the interior of the bay window properly.  Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your valuable.  We look forward to hearing from you soon.Respecfully,Eamon L[redacted]Warranty Service DirectorPower Home Remodeling O: ###-###-####

Quality of Windows: Good or so it seems, I just have gotten them.
Installation of Windows: Good
The company itself as in everybody (but the above) else involved; we could call it Management, they called themselves, most of the ones I have dealt with: Experts: Very BAD doesn't begin to describe my experience.
Down bellow: Neutral means I didn't let it affect my life.
I may talk about it but with not missing my above comments, as in "you have been warned about what and may have to deal with it, make your choices!"
I am well aware that this comments may never be posted.

Dear [redacted],Thank you for clarifying your complaint.   I apologize that my original response did not address your concerns.  Our intentions are not to shift blame between the organizations, but rather to explain the process.  In order to move forward on a home remodeling project with zero money down, Power requires a credit application and approval.  Every [redacted] credit line includes the additional account with separate terms.  This was not an individual request by Power to [redacted] on your behalf.I will address the alleged actions and statements of our sales-force internally.  Power does not promote, train or encourage fraudulent or deceptive sales practices.  I apologize for the frustration and undue stress this issue has caused you and your husband. We appreciate your business and thank you for the opportunity to work on your home.Respectfully, Eamon L[redacted]Director of Warranty Service
