Defenders Incis a subcontractor of ADT, the home security company We had an ADT contract in Florida in which we dealt with ADT directly and were satisfied customers When we moved to Virginia, ADT referred us to Defenders for contracting and setup (in December, 2016), leaving ADT to only do the monitoring of our system We have no issues with the monitoring The contracting and billing, on the other hand, have been fraught with errors, and possibly fraud According to the terms of the contract, our monthly bill is in the neighborhood of dollars per month After paying the initial setup charges, we made the mistake of enrolling in an automated billing program, only to discover that Defenders charged us for three months of billing in a ten-day period at the end of January Then they charged us an additional dollars on February 16, at which point we cancelled the automatic billing, as it was defective, making withdrawals on an unpredictable schedule We would try, from

Protect Your Home/ADT advertised a $100 VISA gift card for security system installation. Upon completion they sent me the gift card certificate along with instruction for redemption with their processor " [redacted] ". I had submitted all the necessary paperwork including the handling fee. However [redacted] denied the request giving the reason as "not approved". I wrote ADT, [redacted] , and Protect Your Home, but with no results. [redacted] called and told me that they had consulted with Protect Your Home/ADT and my request is not "approved", and the gift certificate they sent was a mistake. My own research of this issue had shown multiple complaints from other customers with regard to this false advertisement.

I currently receive services through them for my homeI paid for the fees and anything else that was dueI also am enrolled in auto pay so I don't have any issues with my billI got a letter from my local police department that I had to pay for my alarm to be registered so I didThen I get a call from defenders saying that I owe them money for a permitI told them I paid my bill as well as my permit and registration feeThe lady proceeded to tell me that was to ADT and my local police and not to themShe said I owed them and that it was past dueShe said that the fees were in my contract and should've been explained to me during installation as well as an automated phone call at the end of my installation call stating about the feesThis was not explained to me when I inquired about their services nor was it explained during installation or afterThese were hidden fees that were not mentionedI guess these are subcontractors feesThis was not explained to me at allIt was

they have only one contract available which is way too long and not rightthey also "can't" disarm the system right away to get another bill out of you which they did to be illegally since I cancelled auto pay and took all my credit cards off my accountBecause I have pets I was only able to get the window break system which would go off all the timesomeone came out to fix it and it stopped going off all the time but would still go off because of wind and I stopped being able to arm the system from my houseunreliable the window break box is unreliable and would go off because of wind

I purchased a security system with Defenders for ADT in May of I was unaware that I was signing a two year contract, whether that was a lack of information given or I didn’t retain it, I don’t knowI tried to cancel in May of as I was moving, only to be told that I would not be able to cancel without paying the remainder of the contract, which would total some $1200+When I informed them that I would be unable to reset up a security system right away, as I was moving into dorms for the summer and I didn’t know where I would be placed for my program, they told me I would need to pay as though a residence was being monitored so that I would not be in breech of my contractI relented, moreso because they came off as threateningOver the summer, they did not in fact charge me, but when I told them of my new residence and we set up the appointment for install, they told me that by moving I was beginning a new contract and would be responsible for another two years of service

In April 2017, we ordered ADT Security system for our house at [redacted] ***The Premier Provider # is [redacted] The primary reason for this was because we were foing to rent our house and the tenant wanted security system installedAs we were moving back to California, we rented the house from May We told the security company that we were doing it because the tenants wanted security ytem installed and the installers understood and explained to us not to give the master control code to the tenants but only the usage codeEverything was fine However, after a couple of months after the tenants had moved in, because they wanted more control of the security system, they called ADT Security and had requested to change the account to the tenant's nameAs we were dealing only with our rental management company, we did not have direct contact with our tenantsSo, we were not aware of this change as neither the tenant nor the security company informed us t

STAY AWAY FROM DEFENDERS/ADT!! I had just moved to Florida June of 2017 to move my business down here. I received a coupon in the mail from ADT. Once I found a warehouse for my products I called the number on the coupon and spoke with ADT letting them know I needed an alarm for my business. A technician came out about a week later (wearing an ADT shirt, installed ADT equipment and handed me an ADT folder with the contract that said ADT on it) and installed the alarm. About 6 months later I had to get a new business credit card and called "ADT" to let them know for future reference to use this new card. That was when I discovered I wasn't calling ADT, I was calling Defenders. and even made a payment with the new card that day on the phone. About 2 months later my system randomly died. I called to schedule for someone to come out. I asked the customer service rep if she could have the technician call me about 2 hours before coming to my shop. I explained I am the only one running the business, there is no internet at the warehouse or cellphone reception and I need to be out doing sales. She laughed at me and said with an attitude "They will get there when they get there. Nobody is going to call you." Putting aside how she spoke to me asked again to have a call. She said sure and hung up the phone on me. They scheduled a technician to come out 8 days after I called. I was about 45 mins from my shop and I get a call "Hey I'm at your place. Is this a business? It says home security on my paper." That was when I found out they didn't have as a commercial policy. I asked why he didn't call first. He said they never told him to call or he would have. So that appointment got ruined. He told me he would have someone call me the next day. Nobody called after waiting 3 days. I called and asked the same thing as before but specified it had to be Tuesday because I would be out of town Monday and the rest of the week after Tuesday. a week later...on Monday I get a call "hey I'm at your place." Obviously I wasn't there. This guy said he would have someone call me and he was so sorry. Nobody ever called. This happened back and forth from the end of May, to the middle of JULY. I called the corporate office to complain. They freed out the month of June since I had no service that month which was nice. But, seeing how they are my security company and not my gym membership, I didn't feel that they had any sense of urgency or care about the fact that I had not had a working alarm for 7 weeks at my business. I didn't feel that they were competent enough to be my SECURITY COMPANY. So I said I want out of the contract, you guys are not doing your job. They laughed and said sure just pay $1,200 and you'll be out. Of course that wasn't going to work for me. So after talking with the head manager in Illinois she all the sudden changed her story from being on my side to saying like a child "Nope we were there. We came out and you weren't there and that's the story I'm going with." I asked for a copy of my contract. That was the end of that conversation. I got the contract and saw in the business name they wrote a wheelchair business. I do not sell wheelchairs. They wrote in a random business name once they found out they messed up and put me in as a home alarm. Then they continued to call me asking to pay them. I was set up for automatic payment. I said there's no reason you can't collect a payment. Called my credit card company to clear it that my card was fine. 3 months later they call me again to let me know I owe them payments. I was on the road driving from FL to NC and said I will have to check into this on Monday. Come to find out they were trying to charge my old credit card number and never even updated my new card (which I called to update the new card and even made a payment with in May.) After lots of them yelling at me and talking over me and not listening to what I had to tell them, and after being transferred to multiple reps, I spoke to a woman who again was talking over me and yelling right off the bat. Once she stopped talking I told her to look at the card number used in May and wouldn't you know it she said "oh wow we did screw up. Well your policy was canceled on Friday (When I was driving to NC) and we already sent this to collections. I told the rep that IT STATES IN MY CONTRACT THAT THEY HAVE TO MAIL ME A LETTER INFORMING ME OF THE CANCELLATION BEFORE SENDING IT TO COLLECTIONS. She said "Once it's sent to them we can't get it back." The collections people called me and I told them how they sent it to them before a letter was sent to me. And how Defenders said they could not pull the collections back once it was sent. The collections person said... It says here they canceled your policy back in JUNE (The month they freed out for me keep in mind) and had sent you multiple letters. I have never received a single letter once from ADT or Defenders. Then the collections person said we can't pull this collection, Defenders is the only one who can do that. I called ADT and told them everything I mentioned above. Their response... "They are their own company and there is nothing we can do." So ADT, who hired Defenders to represent them, can't do anything for you. So Defenders will walk all over you. So lets recap. They took over a week to come out to fix my issue at my business which ended up never even being fixed. Their customer service reps yelled at me and are the most unprofessional people I have ever dealt with. They never updated my credit information even though I basically held their hand over the phone to do it. They canceled my policy and sent it to collections the next business day without sending me a letter first which breaks the rules of the contract. They lied to the collection agency about the date of my cancellation being the same exact month that they freed out to me because I called them out on it (Bravo on that one by the way Defenders). All these people care about is collecting money and building revenue. After they get you in a contract they will not care about you, have any sense of urgency to protect your home or family. If you do decide to go with these people I wish you the best of luck that nothing happens to your alarm. My recommendation would be to stay away from these big companies like ADT and use someone local. I wish I didn't even have to give them 1 star.

their product did not do what I was told it would do when I called to resolve the issue I was spoken to by a woman who was very rude I purchased an ADT home defense system and spent close to $on equipment that I was told by the technician in person and over the phone would not be triggered by my dogs if their weight did not exceed lbs Both of my dogs weight around 10-lbs each My Alarm was set off on 11/15/around 10AM due to my dogs who set off the motion detector My significant other went to my home because I could not to make sure the dogs were safe and not in a home with a blaring siren I wanted to fix the system until I was transferred or times and had to explain my story or times to or different people from different contractors in different areas Due to technical issues (what I assume) the woman I finally reached told me over the phone that she could not hear me and hung up I called directly to the cancelation department to cancel my se

On 8/I have contacted ADT to inquire in regards an offer that was sent to our home mail at [redacted] ***The promotion stated that with the promotion code reference savings code:DF-PS-2ND-0818-Vgetting free activation, sensors and gift card for $When the technician went to the house and asked my daughter where we want the sensors a request of sensors in all windows and doorsAfter the sensors were put in the technician told my daughter that I need to pay $on equipment.I was surprised with this outrageous prices when by the offer sensors free.At the time that thecnician was at the house cameras were requested; however, the same were not activated because we didn't have any internet at the houseTechnician left the non installed cameras but he told that when the internet services were on for us to call adt and set a date and time to install the camerasAs of today8/18/I received my bank statement and for my surprise ADT has withdrawn three

I spoke with ADT Defenders and explained to them due to financial changes I cannot afford the service. My va check has been decreased and my wife check has been garnished for student loan. We are trying to stay above water. They said that they will not turn the service off, so therefore the bill will continue to go up. Or I have to pay 1500 up front for them to stop service. Is this right what they are trying to do. And reviewing the contract my wife did not sign the contract. The signature is not hers. The spelling of her name is misspelled, and the signature is also misspelled. Clearly she know the correct spelling of her name. So her name was forged. My wife name is [redacted] . I have the original contract to verify the signature.
