I purchased a Home Security System from ADT in October My year contract shows a recurring monthly monitoring payment of $48.99, but I was continually badgered by Defenders to sign a new contract for monthly payments of $for additional monitoring charges that I refused to pay and told them that I would sue them for breach of contract if they didn't continue service as written in the contract We were awakened on 8/10/at 5:00am to beeping sounds from the alarm system which shows "Trouble" and "AC Power" lights on the keypadWe called ADT and were informed that our service was cancelled; we told them that we never cancelled our service and we were told to contact Defenders We called Defenders and were told that our service was cancelled on 8/8/for non-payment and was sent to [redacted] for collection Through numerous calls to both Defenders and the collectors, I agreed to sign a new contract with Defenders and pay the $monthly fee for the duratio

On 5/6/2016, I bought an upgrade system (was persuaded) from ADT (ADT Pulse) for $I pay $per month On 10/?/2016, I cancelled the services after months (I am not happy about the service)I called ADT to cancel my service, the rep was so nice, she checked my account and told me I paid my equipment and there is no monitoring agreement contract that I can cancel any timeI thought that's itThey kept charging me On 1/7/2017, so I let my credit card company to deal with themI got my refund backBoys, little do I know about this scram On 4/8/2017, I received a collection letter from [redacted] On 4/10/2017, According to them I owe "Protect Your Home" $I said who?!?!?!After I did a lot of research, this is what I found out behind the scam They take your money in two ways, either you keep paying them until your or years contract endOR they tricked you to cancel the contract In my case, one of my doors was opened by the windIt triggere

I needed to pay for the devices that my tenant had installed in my home in NC, and I needed a receipt for the transaction for taxesThe representative refused to provide me with oneHe told me to print it out on my billing statementThat does not suffice for taxes records for my rental propertyI would like a receipt for the transaction

STAY AWAY FROM DEFENDERS/ADT!! I had just moved to Florida June of to move my business down here I received a coupon in the mail from ADTOnce I found a warehouse for my products I called the number on the coupon and spoke with ADT letting them know I needed an alarm for my business A technician came out about a week later (wearing an ADT shirt, installed ADT equipment and handed me an ADT folder with the contract that said ADT on it) and installed the alarm About months later I had to get a new business credit card and called "ADT" to let them know for future reference to use this new card That was when I discovered I wasn't calling ADT, I was calling Defendersand even made a payment with the new card that day on the phone About months later my system randomly died I called to schedule for someone to come out I asked the customer service rep if she could have the technician call me about hours before coming to my shop I explained I am the only one running the business, there is no internet at the warehouse or cellphone reception and I need to be out doing sales She laughed at me and said with an attitude "They will get there when they get there Nobody is going to call you." Putting aside how she spoke to me asked again to have a call She said sure and hung up the phone on me They scheduled a technician to come out days after I called I was about mins from my shop and I get a call "Hey I'm at your place Is this a business? It says home security on my paper." That was when I found out they didn't have as a commercial policy I asked why he didn't call first He said they never told him to call or he would have So that appointment got ruined He told me he would have someone call me the next day Nobody called after waiting days I called and asked the same thing as before but specified it had to be Tuesday because I would be out of town Monday and the rest of the week after Tuesday a week later...on Monday I get a call "hey I'm at your place." Obviously I wasn't there This guy said he would have someone call me and he was so sorry Nobody ever called This happened back and forth from the end of May, to the middle of JULY I called the corporate office to complain They freed out the month of June since I had no service that month which was nice But, seeing how they are my security company and not my gym membership, I didn't feel that they had any sense of urgency or care about the fact that I had not had a working alarm for weeks at my business I didn't feel that they were competent enough to be my SECURITY COMPANY So I said I want out of the contract, you guys are not doing your job They laughed and said sure just pay $1,and you'll be out Of course that wasn't going to work for me So after talking with the head manager in Illinois she all the sudden changed her story from being on my side to saying like a child "Nope we were there We came out and you weren't there and that's the story I'm going with." I asked for a copy of my contract That was the end of that conversation I got the contract and saw in the business name they wrote a wheelchair business I do not sell wheelchairs They wrote in a random business name once they found out they messed up and put me in as a home alarm Then they continued to call me asking to pay them I was set up for automatic payment I said there's no reason you can't collect a payment Called my credit card company to clear it that my card was fine months later they call me again to let me know I owe them payments I was on the road driving from FL to NC and said I will have to check into this on Monday Come to find out they were trying to charge my old credit card number and never even updated my new card (which I called to update the new card and even made a payment with in May.) After lots of them yelling at me and talking over me and not listening to what I had to tell them, and after being transferred to multiple reps, I spoke to a woman who again was talking over me and yelling right off the bat Once she stopped talking I told her to look at the card number used in May and wouldn't you know it she said "oh wow we did screw up Well your policy was canceled on Friday (When I was driving to NC) and we already sent this to collections I told the rep that IT STATES IN MY CONTRACT THAT THEY HAVE TO MAIL ME A LETTER INFORMING ME OF THE CANCELLATION BEFORE SENDING IT TO COLLECTIONS She said "Once it's sent to them we can't get it back." The collections people called me and I told them how they sent it to them before a letter was sent to me And how Defenders said they could not pull the collections back once it was sent The collections person said It says here they canceled your policy back in JUNE (The month they freed out for me keep in mind) and had sent you multiple letters I have never received a single letter once from ADT or Defenders Then the collections person said we can't pull this collection, Defenders is the only one who can do that I called ADT and told them everything I mentioned above Their response"They are their own company and there is nothing we can do." So ADT, who hired Defenders to represent them, can't do anything for you So Defenders will walk all over you
So lets recap They took over a week to come out to fix my issue at my business which ended up never even being fixed Their customer service reps yelled at me and are the most unprofessional people I have ever dealt with They never updated my credit information even though I basically held their hand over the phone to do it They canceled my policy and sent it to collections the next business day without sending me a letter first which breaks the rules of the contract They lied to the collection agency about the date of my cancellation being the same exact month that they freed out to me because I called them out on it (Bravo on that one by the way Defenders)
All these people care about is collecting money and building revenue After they get you in a contract they will not care about you, have any sense of urgency to protect your home or family If you do decide to go with these people I wish you the best of luck that nothing happens to your alarm My recommendation would be to stay away from these big companies like ADT and use someone local I wish I didn't even have to give them star

EXACTLY THE SAME HAPPENED TO ME AS *** * I HAVE BEEN PATIENTLY COMMUNICATING WITH THEM SINCE APRIL AND AGREED TO BE DOWNGRADED FOR A MONTHLY FEE OF $ ADT REPRESENTATIVE SHOWED UP AND ADJUSTED THE ALARM SYSTEM NO COMMUNICATION WITH THEM, WRITTEN OR VERBAL, NO BILLS OR STATEMENT RECEIVED, ON LINE ACCOUNT SHOWS ZERO BALANCE NOW THEY WANT TO RUIN MY CREDIT STANDING BY SENDING ME A COLLECTION AGENCY IT WAS A VERY TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCED THAT I AM STILL DEALING WITH THE COLLECTION AGENCY I AM TRYING TO GET IN TO JUDGE JUDY SHOW TO LET THE CONSUMERS OF SW FLORIDA KNOW ABOUT THIS COMPANY IF NOT, I AM FILING A CASE WITH THE SMALL CLAIM COURT FOR MORAL AND EMOTIONAL DAMAGES

Although I do not live in Indiana, I recently had business dealing with Defenders Security Company located at *** *** *** *** *** *** *** ** ***
After receiving a circular from my local ADT security company in the mail, I called ADT to purchase a security system The sales person answering my call identified himself as an ADT representative Later, I was informed that the Defenders Security Company of Indianapolis has a contract as an authorized dealer with ADT to perform sales, installation and fending complaintsTHe only part of the system that ADT performs is the monitoringI was lead to believe I was able to take advantage of the then current ADT offer of $per month for the first year of the contract and then would be charged $monthly for the next two yearsHowever, I am being charged $per month for three yearsI cannot get any satisfaction from either the ADT or Defenders Security Company people

The installers were very good, patient and professional However, they were not able to install the key panels where I was expecting them to be installed, i.e., front door, garage door, and bedroom Rather, the primary key panel had to be installed in an office (bedroom) upon my desk The bedroom key pad in another desk model rather than a wall key pad The garage door is mounted on the wall replacing my previous pad So I now have two non-functioning wall pads (front door and bedroom) This was not what I anticipated and did cause us all (me and the installers) some discussion that I didn't think we deserved to have Again, Michael and Winston were very professional throughout the installation and answers all my questions I did tell them that I believe the policy should be for someone to come to the home, do an evaluation, and explain exactly where the new equipment will/can be placed so the customer will understand BEFORE the installation date is set As for the system, we are very pleased to know that we are secure and feel safe

On 8/I have contacted ADT to inquire in regards an offer that was sent to our home mail at ** *** ** *** ** ***The promotion stated that with the promotion code reference savings code:DF-PS-2ND-0818-Vgetting free activation,sensors and gift card for $When the technician went to the house and asked my daughter where we want the sensors a request of sensors in all windows and doorsAfter the sensors were put in the technician told my daughter that I need to pay $on equipment.I was surprised with this outrageous prices when by the offer sensors free.At the time that thecnician was at the house cameras were requested; however, the same were not activated because we didn't have any internet at the houseTechnician left the non installed cameras but he told that when the internet services were on for us to call adt and set a date and time to install the camerasAs of today8/18/I received my bank statement and for my surprise ADT has withdrawn three

I signed up with ADT for a home security system to find out it was defenders, incThe program was $per month and said nothing about having a landline phone as a requirement and they signed me to a $plan without notifying me, forged my initial beside the price, and copied my signature electronically which happen on 11/2/On 11/4/18, my card was charged $for two months service with a due date on the contract of 11/24/It took two days calling the company before I was told I had until 11/6/midnight to submit the cancellation & then they would call and pick up the equipmentI fax the cancellation notice on 11/6/@ pmNo one respondedOn 11/I called and wanted to know what happens to the people, they said they were coming on 11/to pick up the equipmentOn 11/a person appeared saying he had the power to make a concession
Moreover, if I would remain with the company, they would refund me all of the money I had paid and would reduce the month

Salesperson and technician BOTH agreed that my ADT security system included a $Visa gift card and the ability to arm and disarm the system via smart phone

I have had nothing but trouble with this company since I activated a previous security system that was already installed in my home that I purchased in April of On May of 2015, I had the system updated and the fraudulent billing nightmare began

Defiantly a bait and switch operation! And I was trying to give the installer a break since he wasn’t the “ salesman” YET he proceeded to “install” a monitor and hang it on my wall only to tell me my quote from the salesman was only for motion detection for daytime monitoring and of course at night I could not turn on the motion detector if I was planning to ever get up in the middle the night Therefore, I needed to purchase additional door sensors and window sensors for security at night(!) ALTHOUGH I gave my window and door count to the salesman the night beforeIn fact we went over the total windows and doors a few timesI insisted to the installer that the sensors were already includedHe then had to make a call to management; he’s outside for about minutes and says “ Okay! ADT is giving you a creditI said what credit? This was already discussed and includedIt’s not a “CREDIT” It’s what we already agreed on! Then his manager arrives at the house ( strange?) He proceeds to tell me that the salesmen don’t understand the logistics of the installation process and that they’re gonna go ahead and put those sensors up but it’ll now cost me a monthWHAT! No I was told Then he has the nerve to say that’s a landline priceI SAID NO! The salesman knew I only had a cell phone ( just my mobile) They are liars and thugs, I told them we’re done hereThen the installer goes to take off the monitor and I have a hole in my wall! hours of back and forth with “ management” ( such a lie, doubtful that was even a management rep) THEY INFORM ME that I’ll need to take pics of the hole and get two estimates for the repairs
They were here from 3:- 7:06!!! That’s hours of my life wasted with SUCH A CROOKED COMPANY that I’ll NEVER get back

On March 17th, 2016, I had the ADT alarm system installed in my new home(MONTHS AGO) On 4/26/16, I was informed that payment for the Electrical Permit Fee had not been received and I paid for it by credit card Once I received verification that the payment was received, I followed up several times either by email (for which I never received a response) or by phone (each time I was informed "some times it takes a little while") Of note, every time I call I get the "we are experiencing a high call volume...email us at..." Those times I have been in communication with a human being it has been related to another issue and I seized the opportunity to inquire about the permit

I had a new alarm system installed by Defenders -Protect Your Home on 11/02/ And the last time I actually utilized my keypad was on 11/26/ Needless to say, I was quite surprised when my keypad started beeping and flashing the yellow triangle warning sign on 12/23/ I immediately called ADT to report the issue and the representative (Tracy) helped me troubleshoot the issue In short, ADT was showing in their system that my keypad was being tampered with And seeing as I was nowhere near my system, when the issue began, Tracy recommended that I schedule a service call It should also be noted that another ADT representative was attempting to contact me during this time to ensure that everything was okay or if they should send the police
