I was tricked into "in house financing," and $1,800.00 later, they won't even let me keep the mattress without making me pay $300.00 more.
I had bought my couch at Rooms to Go and had a very good experience. I'd used their credit card and paid it off in a timely fashion. When I went back for bedroom furniture, I was told that my credit card (that I had paid off) was no longer active and that my only option was their "in house financing program," called "Acceptance Now." This is deceiving because it's actually Rent-a-Center, which I wouldn't have agreed to if I had known. Since I had done business with them before, I assumed everything was the same as it was the first time I had purchased with them. Because of this, I didn't read the contract as closely as I should have.

When the delivery men brought my new furniture, they forgot the hardware and were unable to put it together. I had taken the day off for this and was unable to take another day, but they were unable to finish the job that day so I had them leave the hardware on the porch for me, which they weren't able to do for three more days. As a result, the railing of the bed was scratched because (in my feeble attempt to assemble the bed) the railing fell from a propped up position to the floor.

Almost a year later, the COVID-19 pandemic happened and I was unable to continue to pay $266.00 a month, which I had done (on time) since May 2019. I had, at that point, paid nearly $1,800.00 for my King Size Bed, two nightstands, bunkie boards and a queen size mattress that I had bought for my son. I was told that I still owed $1,600.00 but that they would settle for $1,251.00, which I could pay in either 3 payments of four hundred and something or 4 payments of $318. At first, I was planning to take the settlement, but (being that I do not have income at the moment) I decided that it would be better to just let them take the furniture so that I could get out from under the debt. Note that that I have already paid the full price of the furniture. I asked if we could work something out so that I could keep (only) the night stands (I had forgotten that my son's mattress was also part of that purchase). The next day, I spoke with Amanda, who informed me that "she" (whoever she is) said that they could not split the furniture up so I would have to return the nightstands, as well. "I have some other bad news," she said. "There is a queen-size mattress on the account that we cannot take back (due to the coronavirus) so you will be liable for the remainder of the cost on that." At first, I didn't remember the mattress being on that purchase, but when I realized what she was talking about, I was willing to keep it because my son needs his bed. So, I asked her how much they were asking and she told me I would have to pay $318.

In conclusion, DO NOT USE ROOMS to GO's "in house" FINANCING. An entire year of payments (almost 2g later) you won't even own the mattress.

Way to rob your consumers during a national crisis, Rooms to Go!

Desired Outcome

If you "can't take the mattress due to the Coronavirus," than the least you could do is let me keep it (free of additional cost) since I've paid you almost $2,000.00. I've paid for that mattress four times over.

Dear Revdex.com,

We are in receipt of this claim.

At some Rooms To Go locations, Acceptance Now (RAC) offers a rent-to-own lease option to customers who may not be able to pay with credit card, cash, or regular financing. In these situations, Rooms To Go sells the furniture to Acceptance Now and Acceptance Now enters into a rental agreement directly with the customer. Acceptance Now (RAC) is a separate and independent company and is not affiliated with
Rooms To Go.

The situation expressed in the complaint is out of our jurisdiction for the reason explained above.

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, Acceptance Now personnel is not present at the local store at this time.

RTG has been provided with a telephone number they can call and communicate with them directly to see what they can do for this matter.
The number is XXX-XXX-XXXX.

Please understand, due to COVID-19, most companies are having an increase in their call volume. Our customer may have to wait 30 minutes or more to speak with someone.

On behalf of Rooms To Go, we apologize for being unable to assist further as explained herein.

Thank you,

Lourdes C.
Presidential Assistant

Customer Response • Apr 18, 2020

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
First of all, there is no access now or rent-a-center available on Revdex.com (in Brentwood) to file a complaint against. The salesperson who sold me the furniture, was a rep for Rooms to Go. That is the store that I walked into and, as far as I knew, that is who I was doing business with. As stated in the original complaint, I NEVER would have agreed to do business with Rent-a-Center (I had bad dealings with them in the 90s). Rooms to Go should be held accountable for a transaction that was done between an employee of theirs and any consumer that walks into their establishment. Also, let me mention (once again) that the way that I was directed to Access Now (a.k.a Rent-a-Center) was by hiding it under the guise of being "in house financing" for Rooms to Go. This is misleading and unethical. So, if for nothing else, my complaint against Rooms to Go still stands for MISREPRESENTING a third party affiliation (who has a D- Revdex.com score) as "in house financing.

Rent-A-Center Response • Apr 21, 2020

Dear Revdex.com,

Once again, we apologize for this situation.

We will certainly investigate the allegations brought forth concerning the sales person.

However, the RAC manager would have been the one explaining terms and guidelines of the Rent-A-Center agreement.

Each and every customer has the right and responsibility to read any contract before they sign. If they are not satisfied with the terms of the contract, at that point, they also have the right to refuse to sign and choose another method of payment.

We apologize once more for being unable to assist further.

Please refer back to our previous response with the telephone number for RAC Acceptance (Rent-A-Center).

Thank you,

Lourdes C.

I used acceptance now at a Value City store to purchase new furniture. The gentleman who assisted me rushed through the process. I read and signed all documents that were given to me. He asked if I was interested in the club membership and/or damage liability covered. I opted no to both. He gave me copies of all documents I physically signed. I later received an email with copies of all documents. There were multiple documents that I did not sign and the sales rep clearly forged my signature. I reached out to the company multiple times. I was told the district manager had been contacted and I would hear from them within 24 hours. I never received any contact back. I am very upset that this gentleman forged my name and I am being charged for services I did not agree to.

Account_Number: HRfyx0012233

Desired Outcome

Other (requires explanation) I believe I should receive some discount for my troubles. Also I will be taking legal action for the forgery. I would like the information of the employee who forged my name so I can take corrective legal matters.

This place is a joke!! The store in holiday Florida is rude and will do anything to rip you off. I have been trying to pay off a couch for weeks. They refuse to take the payment and each week it goes unpaid I will now need to pay more since the early pay off is 50% and on top of that they are adding late fees. I have requested for a DM to call me 3 times and am told they will call within 48hours but no call. Why offer early pay off if you don't want people to pay off early???? I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THIS PLACE AGAIN

I rented a dinette set and bedroom set the first week of September 2019, it was supposed to be paid off in 6 months. I paid $70 weekly and had insurance on my items. I reported to the store on ore than one occasion that my dresser drawer was off track and there was a small piece of leather missing off my dinette set chair. I submitted this on January 9, 2020. I was asked to take pictures and send them to XXX-XXX-XXXX, I complied. I was told they'd come fix my items. Time went past, I'm still paying for my items and I told them again, this time I was told to take more pictures and send to XXX-XXX-XXXX, again I complied. They never came, always apologetic and never resolved this issue. I received an email on March 23, 2020 stating I was finished with my contract. They keep calling me and my friends harassing me, I told them I paid them off and have the email to prove it. They told me it was sent in error and that all their customers received that. My daughter also has an account with them and she didn't. I called corporate in Plano, Texas a week ago and was told they'd get back to me in two to three days. I've heard nothing, rent a center is still calling. I told corporate I'm answering the local store, only them. I was given a ticket number, XXXXXXX, at this point I want them to leave me alone.
Product_Or_Service: Dinette set and bedroom set

Desired Outcome

Other (requires explanation) I paid insurance on items that were never fixed and was harassed. My neighbors said rent a center would pop up ay my apartment and bang on my door then go sit in their vehicle. That's harassment and I want them to leave me alone. I had to come out of pocket and pay someone to fix my drawers and my chair still has the small patch of leather missing. I want them ordered to leave me alone and I'm never returning to rent a center. I've got a chair in Chicago and never went through this.

I will need a bigger list to explain these issues so I need to speak with someone, I would like this to be effective as soon as possible.
I will need a bigger list to explain these issues so I need to speak with someone, I would like this to be effective as soon as possible. There is no reason a customer should be treated like this. There are more than 100 reasons why I have these issues and the need to be resolved promptly. Everything from there store to corporate are giving me issues and no one seems to be a blessing to resolve them. I have had promises that haven't been followed through with. Contracts that I have signed for products I don't have to being left on hold for 20 plus minutes at a time.I need time to be on my side I'm over not having any resolution and this matter needs to be fixed. I have contacted them multiple times on multiple occasions and it's all lead up to this and I'm done with this mayhem.

Desired Outcome

I will want as much as possible, store credit, money off, free products I want it all

They charged my monthly payment and I didn't have the money. So I called to see what was going to happen. ( I have been off work for a week and a half because I was asked to self quarintin. They said the money would be returned to my account but they could not stop it from charging me again. So I would have to all my bank to deny the payments. They never returned the money and then started trying to charge me for the full amount again. So they have 198$ of my money for the original payment of 215. And then proceeded to charge me again for 215. Then 221 and are still charging me more every day. On top of the contact they had me sign was made out bogusly and not even official. I was lied to about what the contract actually intailed. When they fired the guy for fraudulent contracts, they didn't even notify me and then proceeded to tell me there was nothing that could be done and offered to finish the contract for almost double what I agreed to. I want my money back and I want some professionals to speak with. This has been a nightmare. The person who wrote my contract ( and didn't even complete it) told me this could help boost my score by 50 points. Instead he is tanking my score and it's this companies fault. I want answers and money. Not to mention they aren't accepting calls right now for the local branch. And I've been waiting on the phone with there help center for 5 and half hours while they continue to charge me while I'm on the phone!. This is Ludacris. They should be shutdown for good

Desired Outcome

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
I accept this response as a request for the account number. That is it. The store and account number that pertain to this case are, Store Number: XXXXX
Customer Account Number: HRfcaXXXXXXX.
With this Information I hope I can here back this time before this awful business sucks me and my credit score dry with the poor strategy and bad habits.

I have changed my card on file with this company several times. I have asked them to take all my cards off file. Do not take payment out my account. This company has gone back to an older card and ran payment for the late payment and a future payment before the due date. They have done this several times. I need changing my cards but they have now gone back to an older card I've used in the past and charged my account twice for this months payment and next months payment.

Desired Outcome

Refund I have canceled all cards but I want all money back that was taken before the due date.

Unable to receive proper assistance when requesting a contract/billing update. Typically receiving the run-around games.
I started a contract w/ Acceptance Now through Bobs furniture store (contract # FAPXXXXX). The contract began 3/10/2020 w/ the early purchase date of 7/8/2020. I was told by Bobs that I would be able to refuse items on delivery if need be. Upon delivery I left two items (a mirror $399, and a rug $199) this was due to them not being able to fit in the room desired. Delivery date was 4/4/2020. Since the day of delivery I have been trying to pay off and finish my contract with Acceptance Now, needing an UPDATED contract amount and have gotten nothing but the run around. I have spoken to numerous agents from Acceptance now (Erica, Zack, Tori) and those are just the names I started writing down after so many unsuccessful attempts. Zack provided me with a ticket number on my complaint (ticket number XXXXXXX) and said I would be contacted within (48 hours) by email, well folks, I waited 4 days, still nothing. Next, the agent Tori told me she would like to apologize on Zacks behalf because apparently he filed the ticket but never "escalated the issue" so basically my ticket was not useful at all. Here I am 15 call attempts and over 2 weeks later with still no contact from this company at all. Somewhere in between I was given a "corporate number" X-XXX-XXX-XXXX which brings me back to the same Acceptance Now line w/ the same incompetent agents, not to mention when I have told my issue to agents I have also been hung up on after waiting hours for my "requested call back". You would think this company would want to help a customer trying to pay off their loan, but not in my case. I will never use this company again and would never recommend them, beware buyers of useless customer service. Also, I have started recording conversations with their agents for my own security and have contacted an agency regarding a class action suit, nice to know I am not the only customer fed up.

Desired Outcome

I would like for an agent or supervisor to contact me about adjusting my bill so I can make my final payment and be finished with this company.

I have requested to cancel my lease for an item I have not received yet.
I have called several times to have my lease cancelled. I have two leases, one for furniture and a dinette set. I asked to cancel the dinette lease and any payments I have made towards that lease can be applied to the furniture lease that only owed $120 on and that will be paid off. These leases are currently being reported to my credit and I do not want this reported in a negative way because I am no longer making payments on these leases, which I have advise. The representative said they sent an escalation to the director to cancel my lease and no one has contacted me. They also owe me money because of overpayments on the dinette set. The reps they have available cannot make changes on my account and they can only take payments and make notes.

Desired Outcome

I want my dinette lease cancelled and any payments to be applied to my furniture lease and remaining payments refunded to me. My next payment is May 18th and I want this corrected before then

No one in customer service answers calls. I want to pay my balance off. They are a rip off.
This company takes half of what I pay on my furniture. I finally have enough money to pay them off. My monthly payments are automatically deducted from my account. When I go online and sign into my account, they don't give a payoff balance and they only give you the option to pay for that month. I've been trying to reach a human to find out my payoff balance and where to send the payment for weeks. I want to be done with them robbing me.

Desired Outcome

I would like someone to call me and tell me my balance along with instruction on where to send the payment.

This is the worst company ever. I completely understand that you have to read your contract and do what you signed up for. However if your doing a agreement and you need to pay something off a certain. Why would they set up direct deposit payments that won't pay the full balance by the due date? So that was my first issue. Then when I try to go and pay the extra amount online 1. Their website does not work with internet explorer 2. It only allows you to pay the amount that you pay as direct deposit 3. It does not tell you your balance online!!! You would think that it would be some type of paper trial to keep up with what you have been paying. At this point I just want to be done and pay my balance off. They were already hard to get in touch with BEFORE coronavirus. Now it's impossible. I've been calling for a week straight trying to get in touch with someone. Now two days before the interest is set to go up on my furniture I'm on here writing a review because I am STILL unable to get ahold of anyone. This is ridiculous. Never again will I go through this company.

Desired Outcome

Other (requires explanation) I just want to have all of my charges explained and then pay what I owe and be done with this company forever.

I have been harassed by Rent-A-Center for the past few weeks and we are going to the coronavirus which most people have lost their jobs I advised them to come get this furniture 3 weeks ago and when I talked to him today he was very insulting and rude I don't know his name all I know is he called from the shop and asked me if I could catch my bill up I told him I was waiting on a stimulus check because of the coronavirus and he began cussing me out

Rent-A-Center ("RAC") values its customers and appreciates the opportunity to address Ms. ***'s concerns. RAC records indicate Ms. returned the rented merchandise to RAC and does not have an active agreement with us at this time. Therefore, RAC believes that Ms. complaint has been resolved.

Should Ms. still require assistance, she is welcomed to contact our Customer Care hotline at X(XXX)XXX-XXXX or contact her local RAC location.

The manager is very rude, he cusses at people and tells you what you will do and won't do. Very very rude person.
This store will harass you, cuss you out, tell you the things you have to take care don't mean ***. That you will do what they say when they say it, they will cuss you out and refuse to work with you on your time, they will only work with you on their time and cuss you out for not being available on their time. Nasty people.

On 4/17/2020 at apx 2:32pm an agent took the wrong amount of payment from me and refused to correct it and hung up on me. I didnt authorize a payment.
I have numerous issue with the business practice of RAC Acceptance now. Today an agent hung up on me without resolving my issue. I specific asked serval times was this a 120 day pay off without penalties she stated the was only 200. she stated my total was 1006.63. My card was charged 1606.63 instead I told her this incorrect she I had to take it up with corporate and hung up on me. This illegal. All calls are record and I didn't authorize any amount of 1606.63 she refused to go over my charges and hung up on me.

Desired Outcome

I want the charges to be reversed.

Put $1000.00 on a washer and dryer set using my debit card. Had to cancel the order before I received the washer and dryer and before my first payment was due. They refuse to return the money via card and now want me to come to the store to receive cash for refund. So now I am waiting for other people to make cash payments on their rentals to the store. Which means multiple small cash payments made to me to which they owe me a $1000.00 over a long period of time.
Product_Or_Service: Whirlpool electric washer and gas dryer 4.8
Account_Number: XXXXXXXXXXX

Desired Outcome

Other (requires explanation) I would like my refund of a thousand dollars as soon as possible for the full amount

Was in Jefferson City store, ordered a sectional and they failed to deliver on time so I requested a refund and they are refusing to refund me!
April 10 was the delivery date I ordered it probably the Monday April 5.

Desired Outcome

Refund or deliver the product with a discount

I was promise by James Garland who was the regional manager at the time a discounted price in 2020.
I was promised towards the end of 2019 by a James Garland a discount on 3 items. I purchase two TV's, washer and dryer as well as a 2 piece sofa. The reason I received a discount on the current items was because I purchase over 4000.00 dollars of merchandise back in California. The states in the contract that this is a life time contract meaning if something happens like moving and you have to return the items, you would have a life time credit with them. I moved to Tennessee and explained my concern to the store manager Jose. The manager was rude and we have several bad over the phone encounters due to him not wanting to honor what's part of their policy. I escalated the situation, and that's where James Garland came into the matter at hand. I received a discount on the current items. The reason they were paid off so fast was not only due to the discount, but because I would paid large sums of money each week. The discount did not amount to what I had paid into the items I had in California. The company could not see what I paid for the items in the past due to them purging the records after so many years. The company did reach out to someone in California and they told them I show up in their system, but what I purchase is no longer showing. I reached out to James Garland to get the deal we had set up for the new year which was a new 80 inch TV, bedroom set and dining table. I still have the text message of the company sending me pictures of the items I was going to purchase from the company at a discounted rate. I was told by James Garland that he no longer works for the company, and to reach out to the new regional manager. I called customer service and requested to speak with the regional manager and I was told I have to speak with the district manager. I spoke to first name Rajiv who was very rude and instead of listening to me, he was focused on the discounts I have already received which was due to what I had already put into items I had back in California. I was trying to explain and he said I'm not going to hear you out and I said I'm going to speak to your boss. The District manager so I quote DO IT!! go ahead and kept over talking me. The manager hung up on me. I called the customer service back 3 different times within a 2 to 3 week period due to the district manager closing my case every time I would open one. The manager did not want me to speak to his boss Michael who is the new regional manager. I never received a call back after having to call back and reopen my case due to the district manager Rajiv being so unprofessional. I have never been treated so bad my the store manager Jose and people in high positions who are treating the consumer who keeps them in busy! so poorly!. The regional manager has not contacted me to address my concerns.

Desired Outcome

I would like the company to honor what the previous regional manager James *** was going to honor on the 3 items I mentioned. The new items would be discounted which would take care of the consumer.

I went to this business to look at a couch on sale. I decided to buy this couch AFTER I had expressed my concern about it fitting down the stairs to my basement. I was told, several times and after supposedly checking, that the couch would come apart in 3 pieces and that the delivery persons would take it apart, take the pieces down into my basement and then put it back together. This was reinforced several times on my inquiring during my visit, by my salesperson, ***. It was to be delivered April 1, 2020 (his choice). I placed $200 down with the in house credit company Acceptance Now. On April 1, 2020 the delivery man came into my home after I told him it was going in the basement but could they please take it apart (kent told me to remind them) to get it down the basement stairs. The delivery person said it did not come apart and it would not fit down the stairs. I requested he callhis supervisor to find out what was going on (the couch remained on the truck fully wrapped in plastic. He argued with his super and kept telling him it wouldn't fit while the super told him to take the plastic off, take the couch into the house & "make it fit" (I was standing next to the caller & could hear the super yelling at him. At that point I told the caller I wanted to talk to the super "right now"! He put the super on speaker, I explained the above timeline and told him I would not take the couch and he could cancel the sale and that I did NOT want to "pick out another item and use my credit from this couch". He said OK. The delivery man signed MY name to the purchase/delivery order stating that it had to have a signature. I had refused to sign anything at this point. I phoned Acceptance Now based in VCF store, spoke with a *** told him to cancel the acct, refund my $200, snd stop the automatic deductions from my bank account. He told me he would do that. I emailed & phoned several times, no money, no cancellation and $157 payment taken out of my bank 4/6/20.

Desired Outcome

Other (requires explanation) First, I am a disabled Veteran and it is shameful that anyone would lie to a 65yr old woman (basically trying to steal my money). I want an apology from VCF, ***, Acceptance Now, and my money back with interest. I feel that VCF did a bait and switch with me and should be investigated. This has caused me a great hardship financially, physically, and emotionally. I still do not have a sofa but acquired a distrust of these companies and doing business period. Hardship reimbursement also.

Customer Response • May 18, 2020

I have spoken with the manager and we have resolved our issue. He was very accommodating, respectful and apologetic. I will gladly use their services in the future!

On 3/20/20, two employees of Rent-A-Center came to my house trying to get in contact with me and one of the employees looked through my bedroom window, during that time there was a child in my room laying on my bed. One associate told the babysitter that they will be back later on that day and if I was not there they would come in the house and take not only my property but my roommates as well. At that time I did not know my roommate had any business or dealings with them so they disclosed that personal and account information out to the public. A day or so before that happened one of their employees called me from their personal cell phones as well, which is against all policies with any company as now my personal information is stored in their device. I called that location and explained to the manager about the call from the employees personal phone as well as what happened at the house that day and how the police should have been called for not only peeping Tom law but also any charges for watching a child through the window. The manager then proceeds to try and blame me for his associate looking through the window. We proceeded to go back and forth for about 15 minutes and I was promised a phone call back about the situation and I never received one.

Hello I paid off my account and was told it would reflect late March, it still has not reflected on my credit, it's still showing a balance
I spoke to manager Mike at Ashley furniture on airway, I received a letter from him indicating my account was in good standing, and that it would be reported to credit by the end of March, it still is showing a balance and derogatory marks, can this be corrected ASAP plz.

Desired Outcome

Acceptance now is a great company and I would like to keep doing business with them. Please remove late payment marks like stated, and remove balance and place in good standing. I would like to take out more merchandise but not till this is resolved .

Customer Response • Apr 22, 2020

Good morning,
I would like to cancel this case, or close please, Acceptance Now has been great, and since then has been updated on my credit, due to covid 19 credit bureaus have been backed up, I have a hard time getting through, and this is happening to several of my creditors, Acceptance Now should not be held accountable, and will definitely do business with them in the near future, Plz cancel or close this complaint. It was done in error.
