We entered into a contract where we were approved for $2500. We got around $2200 worth of items and set up our payments with a salesmen to pay off on time without the absurd interest they charge. We realized after our last payment that we were a $1000 over our initial cost...which made no sense. We contacted rent a center and they basically told us too bad you signed a contract. Not willing to work with us at all and telling us too bad. So they can come pick up their *** since that's the only solution. We threw over $1000 away even though a salesmen set us up to pay off on time. DO NOT DO ANY BUSINESS WITH THESE CROOKS. They say all the right things in store, but start *** you over the minute you leave the store.

Rent-A-Center does not charge interest. Rent-A-Center transactions are not credit sales or financing arrangements, they are rental agreements in which the customer could eventually obtain ownership of the merchandise if all renewal payments are made or if the customer exercises an Early Payment Option ("EPO") as described in the agreement. We filled our entire house with things from rac. Two tv's, washer dryer set,stove, fridge, couch and loveseat set. Had some troubles lately with health, long story short. Now they send me a letter saying give up the stuff or else, after I called and told them I'd be in to pay it all off in 2 weeks. What's wrong with these people?

I rented a refrigerator from Rent-A-Center on 1/9/2018, because my fridge went on the blink and I needed to replace it in a hurry before all of my food spoiled. They charged me for a month (124.00), and delivered a refrigerator, with the understanding that if anything went wrong with it they would replace it right away with another one. I noticed yesterday (1/18/2018), that it wasn't as cold as it should have been but I figured that I could possibly be wrong so I waited until this morning to check it out. Early this morning I saw that it was getting warm and the freezer was dripping water. Rent-A-Center does not open until 10am, but I called at 9:40 just to see if someone was there. Eli answered the phone and when I explained what had happened, he apologized and said that he would send someone out with a fridge at 10am. I waited until 12:30pm to call back and another lady answered and would not allow me to talk to Eli, but said that someone would definitely deliver one by 2:00pm. Meanwhile I have more than 300.00 worth of groceries going bad and I explained that. 4:05pm I called again and the woman put the driver on the phone and he said that He had to eat his lunch first, and he would deliver it after 5:00pm. I find that 100% unacceptable which is why I am notifying you. Thank you

Rent a center is all nice when you go into the store but when you are late on a payment they blow your phone up. And when you tell them you just got laied off of work they still dont care and then they say we are coming to get the iteama then less then a minute later they say well if you can make a 23 dollor payment. Then you call in and try to but a 18 dollars on the account they dont want to take it and you tell them I will have the 5 dollers later they dont want to take the 18 dollars and you get to well you have to call in latter anyway. That is wrong

in November I bought a Xbox one, fridge and a switch. 2 which were Christmas gifts for my son. I hooked up the Xbox to set it up for him and it wouldn't bc it need to be updated. I took it back to and they said they couldn't do anything about that to try another place with internet. we tried 3 other places and it wouldn't go past 5 percent so when I went to make my payment I gave it back to them. my son opened the switch for Christmas but he went and stayed with my brother so he put the switch in the trunk. when I went and picked him up from my brother he went to get it but apparently someone took it out of the car. we made a police report and took it to them on the 4th after we made a payment on the 2nd and told them mother in law gave us a fridge so my husband called and told them we have a fridge so they can pick the one we got from them up. he was told it would be picked up by that following Friday. I talked to a guy 2 times since then about the fridge and he would check with the manager about the pick up. I called In the 15 to make a payment for the switch and find out when they were picking up the fridge and he told me that no employee put I. the log for a pick up and I owed for the switch that they still have yet to replace like they told me they would and a fridge that I haven't used since the 6th. I know I owe for the switch and I was calling to make that payment but I should not have to pay for a fridge that I have been trying to get picked up. I called corporate and still waiting on a call back. I have the calles on my call logs to prove ive been communicating.

awesome experience my RAC in Florence has been wonderful to me they work with payments if I'm having issues. I have paid off 2 mattress sets couch and loveseat computer and 2 laptops.

From personal experience they are a good company for people like myself who cannot get credit. They offer same as cash periods that makes a good difference in price.

When I first started dealing with Rent-A-Center, I was not having financial problems and I was able to make my payments on time without any issues. For the past 6 months or so, I have been behind a few times and when I try to offer a partial payment, they refuse then they use abusive collection methods. I get harassing phone calls (up to 3 or 4 an hour) and when I don't answer right away then they show up to my house.

So my boyfriend *** has an account at the RAC in Ottawa Illinois for a tv. So he's tried to set up payment dates that fit our needs but they either tell him no or expect a payment in advance to change the dates. Right now we pay biweekly and we always pay about five days late because they won't change the payment dates and they won't accept half the payment either. But have NEVER missed a payment. What happened today broke the camels back for me. The account isn't in my name, but my boyfriend is Deaf so he gave them my phone number. Every due date is on a Saturday and they start calling my phone at 8:30 a.m. every other (biweekly) Saturday the payment is due and have since he got the tv which was over a year ago. They call me 4-5 times starting on Saturday and every day after that that it's late. They show up at my home, I live in an apartment, today the guy that came starting yelling at me when I answered the door. I did not yell at him nor was I rude. I told him my boyfriend wasn't home and that I would let him know he stopped by. He continued to threaten me and said if I didn't pay right now he'd have to take the tv right now. I told him he won't be entering my home unless my boyfriend is there. The payment is three days late right now. I told him I'm not the debtor and that he needs to discuss that with my boyfriend. He then said "you know I can't do that because he's deaf". I then said yeah you can it's called pen and paper. My kid was sleeping, and he was yelling in my apartment building hallway. Which is doesn't uphold my privacy. He was trying to use scare tactics and harassing me at my home. I was being civil with that ***, and he continued to yell at me. By law I don't have to facilitate communication between RAC and my deaf boyfriend. And I won't be ever again. my boyfriend has been in that store several times to try and make things work but is met with unfriendly employees that won't work with him. Nobody communicates enough so that understands what they are talking about. They just give short answers and no explanation. Because my boyfriend being deaf I'll be contacting a couple civil rights organizations in Chicago. I have a degree in interpreting and you don't refuse communication with people because they're deaf. I hate RAC you awful business practices. He may be late but he's never missed a payment and there's not much he can do since the bullies that work there won't work with him.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They will HARASS you and your references. They will show up at your job and your home, Where ever they believe you are you can expect them to pop up. They are rude, inconsiderate, demanding, sneaky, and highly unprofessional. I got a phone with the under the impression that I would be paying no more than $30 or $40 every other week or at least every week. I get there and they force insurance on me hiking my payments up to over $70 payments. I told them I didn't want the insurance and that I knew nothing about it. It wasn't advertised. But I was told the only way I could knock that off is if I had personal insurance to cover the phone. Then I found out they don't even consider working with you and your unexpected life events that require that money until you have made at least 8 payments. They called my friends all times of day and night dragging into the issue and I felt so bad about that. They blew my phone up to the point it was out of this world. I would get off work and turn on my phone to over 20 messages and missed calls. All from rent a center. Finally one of them came out and knocked and banged on my door for literally an hour. Ringing the door bell like their life was in grave danger and the were bleeding out. At the first I thought the police was at my door that's how hard he was banging. I could feel the vibration all upstairs. That was just childish to me. I don't believe that's even the word for it but it was pretty low. Then I get a HIGHLY rude, demanding, nasty, unprofessional letter from them. It was beyond a belief that a business had the guts to send out such nasty letters to their customers. PLEASE guys DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE!!!!!!! Unless you can buy the product out don't waste your hard earned money and precious time on these STUPID "people".

Have been receiving calls left and right for my husband who no longer lives with me and I have told RAC this and yet they keep calling and tonight they called my aunt in disclosed information about his account! I am also tired of the harassment and threats of going to the police. This would be a civil matter, no cops are going to get involved. Also the store manager called me from his own personal number, which is against company policy . This furniture is almost paid off and I do not appreciate all this bull. I am going through enough with a pending divorce I don't need this on my plate too. He is calling HQ on Monday. They don't know that my husband knows the law when it comes to 3rd party disclosure seeing he us ed to work collections for RAC and GIN in Wisconsin and after speaking with HQ he said he is getting ahold of a lawyer. NEVER again will I use RAC or any of their companies!
