Thank you for forwarding Ms. ***' complaint to Rent-A-Center's ("RAC") corporate office on October 23, 2019.
Upon RAC's receipt of her complaint, Regional Director Tysen *** spoke with Ms. about her complaint. Regional Director *** advised that he had arranged for Terminix professionals to treat her residence the following day and again at a time convenient for Ms. Regional Director *** also agreed to provide Ms. with another comparable range for a discounted rental price as a courtesy for her less than satisfactory experience. Ms. agreed and appeared satisfied with the resolution offered.
Therefore, we respectfully request that the Revdex.com consider this matter resolved and closed.
Sincerely

This company lies and lies some more.
I have an account through acceptance now for the
Purchase of a couch though Ashley Homestore in
Oxnard, ca. I have called multiple times about the
Cancellation of the RAC members benefits insurance
That is attached to my account. I have been told by
3 different people that this would be removed and it
Was not. I called again today and they said now that
They could not remove it. Then blamed their employees
For not knowing the "rules". This is a scam and it
Is smart to not get involved with this company or
Program.

Desired Outcome

I want the RAC benefits membership insurance Removed from my account.

Rent-A-Center ("RAC") values its customers and appreciates the opportunity to address Ms. A's
concerns. However, I have searched our database and based on the information provided in her complaint,
I am unable to locate an account associated with "*** A". If Ms. A could provide her full name or agreement
number, I would be happy to assist her further.
Additionally, Ms. A's complaint is dated October 16, 2019, but was only recently received by RAC
from the Revdex.com on February 3, 2020. Given the length of time that has passed, we believe
Ms. complaint may have already been resolved and that any contact to her at this time would be obsolete.

R.A.C. in Raynham, MA. Conducts themselves in the most unprofessional way that I've ever seen. There employees swore at my wife, left threatening messages on our voicemail and were 13 days LATE upon there delivery date! Claiming that people keep quitting so your just going to have to deal with it being delivered late! The men who delivered the item to our house were Sketchy characters to say the least and had a glazed over eye's and had the smell of some type of Alcohol on there breath. There vulgar words and poor attitudes, not to mention there body language, left our family thinking that "These are not the type of people we should be doing business with. Last but not least, I find it disgusting that they were standing in my driveway Smoking and leaving there trash on my lawn. I just want corporate to be aware of the type of people you have working for you. I had my wife call back to have them pick up the item, and they were 2 weeks late picking it up! And as I rewatch the delivery on my security cameras it shocks our family and friends every time when we watch and listen to this two men! We will NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH YOUR COMPANY AGAIN! What a Horrible Experience from Start to Finish! The video and Audio of this experience would make Any Customer scared and disgusted to do business with Rent a Center of Raynham, MA.

I purchased funiture from Value City but was never informed I had 90 days to get it out.
I have paid for three pieces of furniture at least 3 times now I make payments of $250 of which one of the pieces was only $300...I check my balance and its still over 1500 dollars to pay the furniture off. I wanted to purchase the furniture not rent or lease it. This is predatory lending at its best.80% interest 20% principal.

Desired Outcome

I want to settle for less than what they want me to pay. ive already paid for the furniture I know. I dont want to loose my furniture but I cant affores a 1500 night stand. Ive reached out to Maureen at Rent a center to find out my furniture is being financed through them. Had I known that I would have never purchased. She advised the director would contact me and I have not heard from anyone

Rent-A-Center Response • Sep 10, 2019

Hello ***,

We're sorry to hear about your less than satisfactory delivery experience. Although Acceptance Now ("ANOW") operates a kiosk inside Ashley Home Furniture, ANOW does not control the delivery process or manage the products delivered to the customer. The customer directly pays the host store (Ashley) the required delivery fee and the host store would be responsible to deliver the customer's rental merchandise in excellent condition. Therefore, your complaint would be better suited from a response directly from Ashley.

Should you need additional assistance, please contact our Customer Care team at X-XXX-XXX-XXXX to provide more details, so that we could investigate and help you resolve your concerns. Thank you.

Online payment system does not work and company will not take payment by phone at the store or through customer service
My auto payment is getting declined online even though all information is entered correctly. I called the Hagerstown location to make a payment by phone. Alan told me he could not accept my payment by phone or give me the payoff amount that I would have to call Acceptance now corporate. I called Acceptance not customer service and spoke to ***. He asked me about 30 times if I entered the information correctly and yes I have reviewed it about 100 times. I ask if I can just make the payment by phone. *** told me no only the store can take payment by phone and that there is a $1.99 fee. I told *** I already called the store and Alan said he could not take my payment by phone, only customer care can. So at this point my account is becoming past due because the website will not accept my payment information and customer car, the escalations department at acceptance now, and the store in Hagerstown all refuse to accept my payment by phone. The store district manager Shirley is supposed to contact me.

Desired Outcome

They give me my payoff amount and accept my payment by phone while waving the pay by phone fee.

So after an application process that was much more difficult than I anticipated I was sold a 'unboxed floor model' laptop at the same price as a new one. Not a huge big deal I didn't think but the laptop turned out to be unusable because the software hadn't been updated since 2015 and it was LADEN WITH VIRUSES AND MALWARE. It took 2 days just to clean up the system so that it was useable again. Not a very good experience. When I ordered the item it was advertised as NEW. If they didn't have a NEW one, they should have communicated that before I drove 40 MILES ROUND TRIP to pick up the item and also should have applied some sort of discount to the item since it is OBVIOUSLY USED.

Nobody ever called me

I have had nothing but bad A experience with the location on *** W *** Rd.

Manager does not return phone calls, Owner Mr. does not return phone calls. It has been 7 months since first got my couch from them, I was supposed to get a new one within 6 weeks. Still do not have it!!

Total run around if I even get to talk to a person, they have no answers "Iwill call you back" and never do.

My order of a new couch finally comes in and it is only half of the couch (sectional and missing half of it). Three weeks later they come to bring the "right" couch and it is the wrong couch AGAIN, there was no hide a bed!

This location seems to pride itself on blaming someone else, no one takes responsibility and the CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS!

Rent-A-Center Response • May 20, 2020

Rent-A-Center ("RAC"), through its affiliate Acceptance Now ("ANOW"), values its customers and appreciates the opportunity to address Ms. ***'s concerns. It should be noted however, that Ms. complaint is dated August 18, 2019, but was only recently received by ANOW from the Revdex.com. Furthermore, ANOW records indicate that Ms. no longer has an active agreement with our company at this time.

Given the length of time from the date of the complaint to ANOW actually receiving a notice of this complaint, we respectfully request that the Revdex.com consider this matter closed. Should Ms. still require assistance, she is welcomed to contact our Customer Care hotline at X(XXX)XXX-XXXX.

Acceptance Now is making unauthorized payments and charging an amount different than the payoff. Customer Service is unable to answer questions.
I entered into an agreement on June 28, 2018. I was supposed to payoff within 90 days, but the payoff wasn't automatically deducted from my account. I called to find out why and I was told I was supposed to let them know otherwise they would continue monthly payments. I was told there was nothing I could do. I continued making payments as I was told that the payoff amount was decreasing. I was receiving monthly calls to process my payments as I no longer wanted automatic payments from the original account. Customer Service said that they would not automatically deduct it but continued to do so. I called July 13th 2019 to make a payment and inquire about my payoff amount. I was told that my payoff amount is 743.97 and I had until August 13th to pay that amount. Without my permission, 244.93 was debited from my account on August 13, 2019. I called and spoke to an assistant manager as to why my card was charged without my permission and she said it was an autopay. I explained to her that I did not authorize the charge as I called to make my payments, and she said I would need to talk the manager who wasn't there at the moment. I asked about the discrepancy in the pay off amount and was told that the girl I spoke with was new and didn't know what she was talking about. I have been lied to month after month and for them to just excuse lies and pass me around is unfair.

Desired Outcome

I would like for Acceptance Now to allow me to payoff my furniture for the amount that I was told was due. I've paid all of the interest as a result of them not taking my balance in full on the 90th day like I was told would happen. The number they quote you over the phone is higher than your early payoff amount.

The company is reporting negatively to credit bureaus even after contract with company was terminated and furniture returned.
In December 2015, I leased furniture from Acceptance Now. Due to the quality of the items, I elected to return the items. Arrangements were made to pick up the items, the dates and times were repeatedly missed and rescheduled. Three months later, the company picked up the items. Meanwhile, the company were reporting negatively to credit bureaus. To date, Acceptance Now continues to report "late payments" to the bureaus.

Desired Outcome

Because of the negative reporting, my credit is being affected. In my "Dispute Resolution" they are unable to adjust Acceptance Now's reporting. I would like theis company to stop reporting adversely to credit bureaus so this creditor can be removed from my report.

Predatory lending practices charging 80% interest and applying only 20% towards principal.
I bought $2200 worth of furniture from Bobs In Stoughton and agreed to use Acceptance Now for financing. I understood that my payments would be extremely high, but the positive trade off was the fact that on time payments would be on my credit report.

I also understood that if I failed to pay the furniture off before 90 days, I would end up paying double. The part that was NOT clear is that 80% of the payment is pure finance charges and only 20% of the payment is applied toward the principal. With such a ridiculous imbalance its virtually impossible for anyone to pay it off within the 90 day period.

My payment was $350 per month so in effect only $70 out of the $350 was applied every month. What was also very immoral rule is that I was unable to pay more than the minimum. I have never heard of a policy that dictates that I have to may 2 full payments if I wanted to pay more than the minimum. For example if my payment was $350 I couldn't pay $400 I would have to pay a full $700. That's just outrageous!

These loans are designed for failure. They only show you the total cost of what you would pay if you fail to pay before the 90 days is up. What they need to do is clearly demonstrate the actual payment and CLEARLY spell out that only 20% of the ridiculously high payment will be applied toward the principal.

Desired Outcome

My intended resolution is to settle for less than the remaining $2400 payoff amount to hurry up and close this out. I'm willing to settle and close out the account for $1000.

Customer Response • Mar 17, 2020

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
This is still un resolved. I spoke to a manager that offered me a settlement for $1400 broken down into 2 payments. I've since tried to settle and I was told that there is new management so the offer that was on the table no longer applies under the new management and I still have an additional 12 payments left before its paid off or to settle for less I would need to pay $2200. Only $60 per $371 payments are being applied to the principal and the rest is pure interest. Furthermore, what's being reported as a payment to the credit bureaus is far less than what I'm actually paying. Only $287 is being reported as a payment and the reality is I'm paying $371 per month. This is robbery! I have attached proof of what's reflected on my credit report and what I'm actually paying based on my statements in the bank

They need to teach their staff in St Louis how to communicate properly with people.Lisa at the telegraph store does nothing but talk to people like their garbage and she's better then them.everything she says just about is a threat.

I was auto pay for 2 months then I missed a payment that's when all hell broke loose. they started calling my harassing me for payment in full or they was coming to collect the merchandise. I made a complaint with customer service which in turn got the district manager to call me.We worked out a monthly payment plan witch was better for me. I called to let them know I was going to be a week late for payment, they said they have the right to refuse payment. I was taken back the statement. I tried calling the district manager three times, he never called me back now the store wants to pick up merchandise. That store has bad customer service and communicating skills.

Rent-A-Center Response • Jul 23, 2019

Thank you for contacting the Legal Department at Rent-A-Center through the Revdex.com website with your concerns. I have escalated your concern to our Solution Center. You should receive a phone call from a District Manager within the next 48 hours.

About a couple weeks ago I was looking into purchasing a sofa & loveseat. I spoke to a manager named Wendy at that location, she never told me how much I would be paying she just told a delivery date, when that day came a delivery guy called my phone saying we're going to be delivering your furniture until he noticed I didn't pay $116 but the manager never told me how much I was paying, when she got on the phone she wants to get rude with me saying oh well you said you were going to have the money & I told her yes but my bank closed my account & wanted to hold my money. She didn't want to hear that she wants to get disrespectful saying well we can't deliver the furniture without the payment you kept saying you were going to have the money in a rude way. Then a couple days later when I wanted to make the purchase they were telling me their going to refuse service to me & I'm telling them why because I called cooperate on the manager wendy & she got mad about that. Then I called another Rent A Center to see about purchasing the product with them but they never called me back because they said they needed to talk to the other store where the issue had started.

Desired Outcome

Contact by the Business I want them to give me a discount or the same promotion I was trying to get the furniture with.

Husband rented from rentacenter mind you he has paid off a washer and dryer refrigerator livingroom bedroom suit. Well my husband was in a accident and was taking out of work for 2mths. Remind you he pays for the benefits plus insurance which covers him while hes outta work. Well rent a center didn't want to follow the contract tried numerous of times to come get the other things. He has 5 payments left on one item and 10 payments on the other. I feel like it's unfair for them not to honor their part of the contract. This is a horrible company to rent from

My daughter rented a washer/dryer from the Shawnee, KS location and gave my contact info simply for verification that she was employed prior to rental. Now, whenever they can't reach her, they call me! I have told Jonathan not to call me anymore, that my daughter is a 48 yr old adult and he should not be involving me in whatever issues they are having. He continues to call. Even though the number is now blocked, he can still reach my voicemail. I have had enough.
I would file a formal Revdex.com complaint, but since they already have a D rating, it apparently wouldn't do any good. Don't bother to send me your pat answer to reviews. Just tell him to stop calling me.

Rent-A-Center Response • Jul 08, 2019

My daughter was renting something in the Texas location I called the store to tell the manager she had died while visiting me out of town they threatened theft charges how can you press charges on a dead person and they were still blowing her phone up after I informed them of that I recently got her phone disconnected so someone else may have the number but that is still her very disrespectful not only that she gave them her new address but mixed up the numbers however I did talk to the landlord an since my daughter wasn't there and didn't pay the rent they threw everything on the curb so the couches she had are no more someone needs to address that they still harass and call people's phone even if they are dead I couldn't eve morn they were blowing her phone up constantly
