We understand the frustration experienced by Mr***. Please be assured that we fully review each tire claim submitted to us. Any evidence of a material or workmanship issue would be handled in favor of the consumer. Even inconclusive results would be processed. In this case, the evidence clearly indicated the tire had sustained impact damage at some prior point in timeWe recognize that the consumer may not recall the incident in which the damage occurred. It may have happened days or even weeks before the tire finally came out of service. The check was processed on April 4th. The consumer should receive the check within the next few weeks

Shirley, Consumer Care Manager, spoke with Ms*** yesterday (10/4) and explained again (Ms*** has sent letters to other managers in the Consumer Care Department and they also explained the same thing) that the warranty itself only applies to the cost of the replacement tire. All of the additional fees (Road Hazard Coverage, Lifetime Rotation, etc) are options that Ms*** chose to purchase from the dealer directly. These services are not associated with Michelin in anyway. However, because of the misunderstanding between Ms*** and Gregg on what reimbursement would be given on, Shirley did agree to reimburse an additional $to cover the cost of mounting and balancing. Ms*** accepted this offer, even though she made it known she did not feel it was fair to her, and a check was requested at that time. It was reiterated to Ms*** that her tires are outside of the year warranty and the offer provided to her is a Goodwill Concession only because we value her as a Consumer. We did inform her that this is the final offer and she has accepted it. adjustments are pro-rated based on the amount of tread depth remaining on the
tires. Credit is provided for the unused
portion toward the purchase of replacement tires. Based on the dealer’s inspection of the tires
the credit would be 65%. However, as a
goodwill gesture to assist ** *** further, we provided 80% credit. The tires have been used for 25,miles and
would not qualify for free replacement. Services (installation,
mounting, balancing or additional warranties) are considered dealer
services which are not covered under our warranty

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.
I will have to go by *** to pickup another copy. However, the tire didn't explode from a road hazard, and they *** technicians stated it was a definite faulty tire. They were the ones that instructed me to go to ***. So they should stand by *** decision. The guy at *** said he's never had it where a person came in with a faulty tire and had to pay to get it put on. Not to mention I still have a bent rim from the faulty tire exploding. I would be happy to talk with a Toyota Rep so they know the way Michelin is treating the people who buy new cars from them, and the media. They huge corporations put on cheap tires and when they are faulty they do not take the responsibility to fix the issue

appreciate the opportunity to respond. We reviewed the circumstances with **and *** *** Michelin tires. Our records indicate that we were initially contacted by *** *** Tire on 7/29/13. At that time the dealer advised us *** *** (4) four *** *** tires had cracking on the sidewall. At that time we authorized the dealer to adjust the tires under the terms of the Michelin 6-year Standard Warranty. Based on the tread depths provided by the dealer, *** *** received a 70% credit off the retail cost of the new Michelin *** *** tires. Our warranty only applies to the cost of the tires, therefore, the *** were responsible for paying the dealer’s installation fees, state taxes, and the optional Total Tire Protection Promise they chose to purchase from *** *** Tire Company On 6/20/16, we were contacted by the *** via our online Chat service. Their contact was to inform us that they had to replace their 2nd set of Michelin tires due to alleged sidewall cracking. Their case was elevated to our Executive Response committee, who emailed the *** and requested a copy of their invoices for review. Upon receiving the (9) nine pages of receipts, we verified that they did receive the original warranty adjustment listed above for their 1st set of replacement tires. There was no warranty adjustment offered by Michelin on the 2nd set of replacement tires, as *** *** purchased competitor brand, *** tires. Our Warranty states “If a tire is covered…Michelin will replace the tire with a comparable new MICHELIN replacement tire on a pro rata basis.” The receipt provided does show that the *** did not have to pay for the cost of these replacement tires, due to the *** *** *** *** they purchased from *** *** Tire Because of these details, there is no additional reimbursement due to the *** under the terms of the Warranty.
