I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. The fact is, the tire failed and caused damageThe tire should not fail prior to warranty running outThe term Consequential Damage Claim has never been saidCall it what you wantI reiterate, the fact is the tire was faulty under warranty and caused damage

I reviewed MrS***'s response and agree that I finally got a check of $after months of dealing with them to help compensate me for a portion of the new tires I had to purchase I do not agree on many of the statements in his response As mentioned to you before, my experience with Michelin was horribleIt took months to get anyone to acknowledge my issuesMy dealership (*** Lexus North) had sent in all requested information shortly after the first request unlike MrS*** statement of not being able to receive the information after multiple phone callsThe multiple phone calls that were made were by me, not Michelin! *** Lexus North and myself both sent in the information on numerous occasions after being told they didn't receive the informationI had to call back times (per Alvin S*** told me today over the phone) until finally Alvin S*** contacted meI'm sure I had called more than times tooNo one ever called me to speak with me about my case or acknowledge anything about my case until Alvin, months laterI had to place dozens of calls into Michelin and spent many hours over the phone repeating my issues over and over before anyone could help meI would have to re-explain my entire case each time I called and spend hours over the phone while each representative reviewed all of the notes in my caseMichelin never assigned one case manager to my case so each time I called I had to go over it from the beginningThis is why I have contacted you to report such negligent customer serviceI believe they should not be given a good rating on there customer serviceIt is by far the worse customer service experience I have ever hadI told Alvin S*** that I would never buy another Michelin product because I would never want to deal with the customer service department againThank you.

As I have stated before this was not offered before I purchase tires. Most people do not buy tires every 2 years so they are really not offering me anything. They kept sending me to different places that would not honor their warranty so it was really hard to purchase this brand again especially when I had a manager of a tire store telling me that they do not honor their warranty. I did what was recommended to me to be safe and have tires on my truck. Again I don't think I will be needing tires in two years so I am being offered nothing.

We are sorry that Mr. [redacted] does not feel our offer is acceptable. We advised Mr. [redacted] that we are sorry that he does not accept our offer to refund him  50% of the $709.00 he paid for the replacement tires. The tires removed from Mr. [redacted]'s vehicle had 4/32 usable tread which means they were not eligible for the mileage warranty. Based on 43,000 he would have received 46% ($326.14) credit which is less that the amount I am refunding. Although tires purchased from [redacted] Clubs do not qualify for our Independent Dealer promotions, as an additional goodwill concession we have requested a second check in the amount of  $70.00.    No additional credit will be requested. If there are additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.Sincerely, Colesta C. Michelin North AmericaExecutive Response Team

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  I am rejecting David H[redacted]' Good Will Offer of $225.99 for the following reasons:I do not agree with their claiming the tire took a hard impact. I would know if such an impact had occurred. In David's verbiage that I no longer have the tire "..." . My statement is true that the body shop disposed of the tire without my knowledge. That being said, Michelin had the tire previously for their review. I also have pictures of the tire which support my claim. The $225 offered to replace one tire does not come close to the cost to repair the damage caused by the under warranty, faulty tire. At the very least, reimbursement of my deductible of $500 should be the MINIMUM "Good Will Offer".  That under warranty, faulty tire caused over $3000 worth of damage to my vehicle. That does not include the $1000 I spent to replace all 4 tires due to my fear of having the same issue with the other tires. David H[redacted] specifically told me that paying $500 to me would admit guilt. But paying to replace a tire doesn't?

I am enclosing photocopies of documents requested. The total price of tires paid at [redacted] was on 3/20 was lower than what I originally quote since I think at the time there was a [redacted] promotional price. However, that is not what I am contesting and is irrelevant to the issue at...

hand.  I am complaining about the work of getting the 4 defective tires exchanged and the time off from work that my daughter and I had to spend. I generally buy Michelin brand tires for their good reputation and I am very surprised this happened. I wonder if a product recall is coming for these tires.  It took a lot of convincing for the mechanics at [redacted] and the alignment auto shop to consider the possibility of having defective Michelin tires. Of course, they all first blamed the problem on my daughter's car!thanks for your help,[redacted]

Revdex.com of Upstate South Carolina Attn: [redacted] 408 North Church Street, Suite C Greenville, SC 29601-2149   RE: [redacted] Revdex.com ID#: [redacted] Michelin File #: [redacted]   Dear [redacted],   We received your email regarding Mr. [redacted] and appreciate the opportunity to respond.    We reviewed the circumstances with Mr. [redacted]’s Michelin tires.  Our records indicate that we were initially contacted by Mr. [redacted] on 3/30/17 concerning alleged sidewall cracking on his [redacted] tires fitted on his 2008 Chevrolet Suburban 1500.  Mr. [redacted] was advised of the 6 year warranty coverage and it was recommended for him to have the tires inspected by the selling retailer, [redacted] Tire, to determine what assistance could be provided under the terms of the warranty.   On 4/11/17, we were again contacted by Mr. [redacted] who advised he went to [redacted] Tire for the inspection and purchased competitor brand replacement tires.  At this point, the Warranty coverage was void.   Our Warranty states “If a tire is covered…. Michelin will replace the tire with a comparable new MICHELIN replacement tire on a pro rata basis. This means that you will be responsible for paying a portion of the cost.  The Michelin tire retailer will determine the portion for which you will be responsible by multiplying the percentage of the original usable tread worn, by the current selling retail price at the adjustment location or the price in the current Michelin Base Price List, whichever is lower.  You will also be responsible for paying in-full the cost of mounting and balancing the tire, and the cost of any other service charges and applicable taxes…”   Because of these details, there is no reimbursement due to Mr. [redacted] under the terms of the Warranty.  This was explained to Mr. [redacted] on 4/11/2017.     Sincerely,   Samantha Executive Response Team Michelin North America

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint I[redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.
There is no point in running tires down to an unsafe level when its possible (based on past wear) to know when the tires will hit 2/32.  I can tell you (and so can Michelin) that I will get 60,000km at best from those tires.  So, as a customer, I have to (1) run my vehicle down to a level that is unsafe, (2) pay Michelin almost half the value of the tires and (3) pay to have new tires installed on my van.  All this because the tires lasted 40% of what they supposedly should last.  If we were up to 70-80%, it would be a different story and I wouldn't be complaining but to treat a loyal customer like this when they get 40% of the tread wear is unacceptable.  I won't be asking Michelin for a prorated amount because they don't deserve any more of my money.  I will be purchasing new tires from another company that has no association with Michelin (and I will make sure of that).  And I would suggest that Michelin try a little harder to be more accurate with their tread wear values because clearly, in my case, it means nothing and the tread wear was one of the main reasons for purchasing the tires in the first place.

[redacted] Dear [redacted], We received your email regarding Mr. [redacted], dated October 14, 2016 and appreciate the opportunity to respond. We reviewed his complaint and spoke with him on October 28, 2016. We received a call from [redacted] and Ross with the inspection information needed to evaluate this issue. The local tire dealer alleged the tire had a road hazard and was driven flat for an extended period. Mr. [redacted] was advised of the dealer’s inspection of his tire. We offered to assist in replacing the tire as a goodwill concession to assist the customer. Sincerely,  Evelyn W[redacted]Michelin Executive Response Team

Dear [redacted],
We...

received your letter regarding Mr. [redacted]’s complaint.
In reference to Mr. [redacted]’s request, we contacted him to
explain to our mileage warranty adjustment procedure as he was requesting the
replacement of his tires at no charge. We also explained some of the different
factors that affected the wear and tear of the tires. We finally agreed to
replace all four tires at 25% charge as a one-time-only goodwill adjustment.
Mr. [redacted] was very pleased with the offer. We called one of our authorized
tire dealers in the area to make sure that Mr. [redacted]’s tires were replaced
and adjusted properly. We are now waiting for the dealer to call us and let us
know when the tires will be replaced and we will provide him with an
authorization code that enables him to adjust the tires up front. We let Mr.
[redacted] know that the adjustment did not include installation, fees or taxes to
which he agreed.
If you may have any questions please do not hesitate in
contacting us.
Sincerely,
Suzanne E.

As I explained to the gentleman that I spoke to  I had done everything that **  [redacted] asked me to do. Of the three place that they sent me the only one willing to help was [redacted] and Battery. I purchased the tires that the Manager recommended to me after I was told that [redacted] would not reimburse them for warranty work. I feel like I am being penalized for being a loyal custome. I payed $1000.00 for a set of [redacted] tires that have more than 50% use left on them that I can't use. So I purchased another set of tires to be safe, and [redacted] wants to offer me a credit on future tires good for 24 months. It is highly unlikely that I will need new tires in two years so I will have received nothing, that is what I was trying to explain.I called right away for a solution and felt like I was given the run around. I had to make sure that my vehicle was safe.

[redacted] and advised him that our data and website list the BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 34X10.50R17/D with an over-all diameter of 33.50".  Tire sizes are nominal which means the size may correspond to a large number of highly standardized dimensions and tolerance.  I advised him that unfortunately there is nothing we can do regarding the sizing of tires or the dealer's pricing on the products they sell.I offered to mail him a check in the amount of $** which is the amount of BFGoodrich Winter promotion that ended on November 29, 2015.He accept the offer.  He should receive a check within the next 4 weeks. If there are additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.[redacted]Michelin Consumer Care, Senior Rep.Executive Response Team

Regarding this complaint, I responded saying the company’s offered settlement was acceptable. When can I expect them to remunerate the funds for the proposed resolution of this complaint? As of March 8 I have not received any communications or the promised reimbursement regarding this complaint. Thank you much for looking into this and responding to my question. her about her tire concerns. She immediately advised us that she was not happy with the service provided by Michelin. I discussed with her about the many phone calls to us, and our efforts to resolve her tire concerns with the dealer, after many attempts to get an inspection from [redacted] Lexus North, but was not able to after multiple phone calls. We ended up getting the tire information and we provided the consumer with a proration reimbursement of $199.28.After further discussion with Ms [redacted] about our efforts in getting an inspection, she requested that we reimburse her for all the time she spent talking with us. We advised her that our warranty (All Michelin tires have a standard Manufacturer's limited Warranty, which covers defects in workmanship and materials for the life of the original usable tread, or for 6 years from the date of purchase, whichever occurs first), and we authorized a reimbursement to settle her claim. We also advised her that there are no additional reimbursements for her time. We also show that her dealer, [redacted] Lexus of North provided her with a no-charge adjustment on 1 tire. Sincerely,Alvin S[redacted]Michelin Executive Response TeamMichelin North America
