I opened a Stash investment account online just about a year ago. I invested $20 then pretty much forgot about it. I invested $20 and pretty much forgot about it. After I open the account I had some art activity on my checking account so I went to my bank close my checking account we opened a new account with a different number. After I open the account I had some odd activity on my checking account so I went to my bank closed my checking account reopened a new account with a different number I decided to close to my Stash account soon after.

Because the checking number that was associated with my Stash account was no longer valid I entered my new account number. Soon after they locked my account and wanted me to upload bank statements so I did. It was just a pop up on the app so I assume they wanted the current bank statements. After I uploaded it anytime I tried to logon I got a pop-up saying they had received my documents and they will let me know if they need anything else. That pop-up lasted for months I never was contacted for more information and my account remained locked. Several months after that it let me login but it’s at action was required on my checking account and when I tried to click on the link for the tell me what to do it re-locked the account I reached out to customer service and I sent them via email the bank statement and the explanation about changing my checking account number. Several months after that it let me login but it said action was required on my checking account and when I tried to click on the link for it to tell me what to do it relocked the account I reached out to customer service and I sent them via email the bank statement and the explanation about changing my checking account numberThey told me I had to submit the documents through the app so I did and my account remained locked. A little while after that I was able to log onto the account but when I attempted to close the account it still told me there was a problem with my bank I uploaded a letter from my bank explaining that I have changed my account number.

I have emailed their customer service department three times in the last week with nothing but automated responses and now the account number they claim is not valid was just charged a dollar maintenance fee for an account I do not want and have been trying desperately to close nearly since I opened it.

I have been with Stash for the past 2 years Customer service *** every time you call the agent gives you a different answer when you email them they never respond. I have been trying for the past 2 months to close and withdraw my funds and I keep getting the run around. Terrible never again when it comes to withdrawing your service fees your account Is linked when you put in to close your account and withdraw your funds it takes 3 months with the same go around that your account has not been linked. I have attempted to find information for STASH Investment LLC so I can close the account and retrieve what funds are in the account. The company has made this difficult. I also do not have updated card or checking number on file with the company and some how the company has continued to take $2.00 out of my account for a few months now.

This is obviously a scam that seems like has been going on for a long time as I see in other complaints listed. Joined in 2016 then thought I had cancelled but their is no way to cancel on the website or by phone. My story is the same as all the other complaints listed "tried closing my account and I was told that was impossible that my account would just be closed automatically after not being used a certain time and no fees would be charged. Starting about September of 2017 the company began to charge me a device fee for the account they had supposedly closed. Turns out the account was still open and I was not even using it. I tried to contact their customer service but the link on their website for Customer Support it’s Assad link that creates a message error saying webpage not available.

This entire thing is starting to seem kinda scammy. I requested to have this account closed and my investments sold sometime in the middle of December. On January I contacted them to see why my account wasn't closed yet and got this response:

I haven't been able to see my investments for some time now so I thought it was in the process of being closed already because of this message.

I can tell how much I ave to sell or anything. And now they're telling me it's going to take another 10-12 days. This is going on a two-month-long process. From my perspective, this is unacceptable.

I switched banks and have tried multiple times to update my bank account information on their website. I haven't been able to update to because Stash insists that they need to see my bank statement and drivers license which is a violation of my privacy. I've refused and have tried to close my account. my bank account information online. As a result they restricted my access to my account. I've attempted to close it online and have asked them to mail me a check. Their customer service number doesn't work and numerous emails to them go unresponded.

I have tried to close my STASH Investment account four times now, and they will not close the account. I don't know what to do anymore. I need help getting the account closed. I tried to close the account 2-3 years ago over the phone and they said they would close it. I had a credit in my balance so I had to add my bank account to receive the credit to get my account to a zero balance. They said that that would settle the account and that it would be closed. They said they would close it. They did not close it(unbeknownst to me). After I was told it would be closed I tried to login to the app and it gave me an error message "Your account is in the process of closing" so I felt confident that the account would be closed.

Years later in 2018 I received an email that I had a negative balance in my same STASH account which should have been closed years earlier, and that I need to add a bank account to resolve it. I was furious because the account was supposed to have been closed! I had no record of this since I had to call to close the account. I had to call customer service yet again to resolve this, they said I have to re add a bank account, so I re-added a bank account and they said that the account is really closed now. I should have filed a Revdex.com report at that moment to report the unprofessional and inaccurate handling of my initial account closure request, but I didn't because they assured me the issue was resolved.

Then I kept receiving statements for the account that is supposed to be closed so I called again to complain. STASH keeps saying the account "is closing" but that I will keep getting statements for six months until their system wipes my account. OK, it's frustrating but ok. But that time frame has passed and I was still, months later, receiving other emails about my account which was supposed to be closed, so I emailed customer service to check why it wasn't closed, AND AGAIN THEY SAID THE ACCOUNT IS NOT CLOSED AND THAT I NEED TO ADD A BANK ACCOUNT TO RESOLVE THE ACCOUNT IN ORDER TO CLOSE IT. I have received confirmation emails that my account is closing/closed months ago, which I have attached as evidence, and I can also forward the actual emails themselves if needed. I have attached multiple email evidence with dates saying that yes, my account is closed. I made sure to email STASH this time instead of resolving the issue over the phone so that I could have documentation of their practices, I explained my situation of trying to close my account several times, and they just said "Oh, it looks like you want to close your account? Follow these steps to close your account..." I had to call customer service AGAIN in 2019 to re add my bank to get the account closed AGAIN, at this point, I lost track of how many times I have called to close my account, at least three times, and I've requested twice over email that is documented. They said I have to call customer service, re add my bank account, and then they can close the account, I've already done this in the past several times to no avail. Now, years later after I have been trying to close the account(which hadn't been closed due to a Stash negligence in the first place) they are saying I have to add a bank account AGAIN to close the account, is someone available to help me resolve this insanity? I have been trying for years to close the account and they are still not closing it. At this point I believe they are using predatory practices to charge account fees and saying you have to add your bank account to close the account in order to collect fraudulent, predatory charges that should not exist. I don't know what to do anymore. I need help to get the account closed. I need someone to step in and help me get this closed because STASH will not close the account for some reason. I'm really frustrated and do not know what else to do other than reach out to the Revdex.com to resolve this. Please help me close the account. And please inform STASH invest that these type of practices are unacceptable. I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

However, STASH has already assured me three separate times in the past that my account would be closed, and it was not closed, so I'm doubtful they actually closed it this time, and I will continue to check and I will file another report if it has not been closed. But I guess I accept the response as of now, I hope that they actually closed it this time. Thanks for your help.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ***, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[Your Answer Here]They keep sending me to areas of their web app/site that doesn't appear to work for me. Ive been begging them for months to simplify this process by even printing out my emails of me requesting this entire account closed and refunded and connect it to their paperwork as a formality of their claim of needing forms filed for final closing. They have not done this or responded. Every response I get is a sorry you're frustrated, please log into this and click on this and Ive tried it all. None of it as they describe, and nothing is as they believe it is. These digital forms they claim to exist, don't exist in the tree of information provided by their site. IF its just a digital document they needed signed? Why must I follow breadcrumbs to find it? Why can't it be emailed to me, me print and sign it and send it back. I work at a Logistics company where I am full digital capabilities of all forms of documents. They continue to make this difficult as I believe they've used my money elsewhere and haven't sold whatever shares to get it back. I had the same types of accounts through Acorns, they physically closed it all without a hitch! My checking account is still attached, the money they've collected from me is NET income, so it's already been claimed on my taxes financially. Not entered as a ROTH or a IRA on taxes, but as my actual income!! I have emails, but I don't know how to attach them to this complaint, as I am using a computer and phone, and unsure of how attaching or forwarding email via your platform.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ***, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[Your Answer Here]They keep sending me to areas of their web app/site that doesn't appear to work for me. Ive been begging them for months to simplify this process by even printing out my emails of me requesting this entire account closed and refunded and connect it to their paperwork as a formality of their claim of needing forms filed for final closing. They have not done this or responded. Every response I get is a sorry you're frustrated, please log into this and click on this and Ive tried it all. None of it as they describe, and nothing is as they believe it is. These digital forms they claim to exist, don't exist in the tree of information provided by their site. IF its just a digital document they needed signed? Why must I follow breadcrumbs to find it? Why can't it be emailed to me, me print and sign it and send it back. I work at a Logistics company where I am full digital capabilities of all forms of documents. They continue to make this difficult as I believe they've used my money elsewhere and haven't sold whatever shares to get it back. I had the same types of accounts through Acorns, they physically closed it all without a hitch! My checking account is still attached, the money they've collected from me is NET income, so it's already been claimed on my taxes financially. Not entered as a ROTH or a IRA on taxes, but as my actual income!! I have emails, but I don't know how to attach them to this complaint, as I am using a computer and phone, and unsure of how attaching or forwarding email via your platform.

I’d like to close my subscription with them but no one picks up the phone,I have called countless times and say on hold for hours during business hours. I would just like to close the account and end my subscription
