Student Loan Support Reviews (329)

I began working with student loan support about 2 months ago. They have helped me complete my enrollment into a student loan repayment program that I can afford and they have been very pleasant to work with. I tried to work with [redacted] on my own and they would not help me at all lower my payment. I also tried to get enrolled into the IBR program directly through the department of education, but they told me my payment was going to be ridiculously high. There was no way I could make my payments and I was told that I couldn't put them off any longer. I was referred to this company after they helped a friend of mine and so I have them a call. The guy I talked to on the phone was really helpful and finally answered all of the questions I had about this program. His name was Kevin. I signed up through him and after about 2 months everything is complete and I am making a lower payment that I can afford. I have to admit that I did think this was too good to be true at first, but I'm glad that didn't stop me, because I avoided a huge mess with going into default on my loans. I have referred a few friends to them and I will continue to do that. I would definitely recommend giving them a call if you have student loans.

Review: I heard about Student Loan Support through a friend. I first talked to [redacted] in December 2013 about their business. From what I understood they would help consolidate my federal loans and only looking out for my best interest. The thought of getting rid of my federal loans sooner than I thought and to decrease my monthly payments was amazing. After I started passing in all my paperwork I was told I had two payments of 197 and then a monthly payment of 29.00 would be the fee and that this process would only take 3-4 weeks. However little did I know that if I wanted to consolidate and get into Public Service Forgiveness through Fedloan that it was free!!! My biggest issue is that it is now August 2014 and my loans still have not been consolidated, up until April they were still charging me the monthly 29.00. Every time I would ask how much longer for my loans to be processed suddenly a piece of paperwork went missing and they kept pushing back how much longer until my loans would be consolidated. I had to deal with multiple people and somehow all of my paperwork got lost on multiple occasions. I finally called Fedloan directly to learn that 1. I could consolidate my loans and apply for the Public Service Forgiveness loans for free and 2. Student Loan Support still had not sent in all the required paperwork. I cancelled with Student Loan Support back in July and have been dealing with Fedloan on my own to consolidate. I have contacted Student Loan Support on multiple occasions to tell them that I no longer want to work with them, one of their workers started yelling at me on the phone saying that they didn't have to reimburse me anything. Needless to say their customer service is completely awful! I have sent emails to the manager who is no longer responding, I have no other choice than to file a complaint at this point. I kept up my part; made my payments and sent in all of the paperwork they asked for but they, have not. At all!Desired Settlement: I want a complete refund of the two payments of 197.50 and three payments of 29.00. The timeline they gave me clearly was not completed as promised.

Client stated income but it was higher on her proof of income she provided with tax returns. We waited for income by pay stubs and submitted her file June 19. We do not know what she is undoing at this point.

[What I am undoing is working with the company at all. I was told my consolidation would be complete by April and this was not done. Then it was promised it would be complete by June, which came and went. Then July- I finally directly contacted Fed Loans myself and they did not have any paperwork that I had been submitting since January!!!! I had to start all over with paperwork. They did not come through with our agreement. I would like a refund considering I had to do all the work with fed loans- I paid over 400$ to a service that was not provided.]

We completed our work June 19 and submitted her file as agreed upon given the current income. The government does not respond with updates immediately. They will tell her that. After that, the client actions are beyond our control - we do not know what she is doing and owe no refund.

Review: Initially, they were a very professional business and everything went smoothly. They decided to review my account and perform some revisions on my contract due to my occupation change. I had to jump through hoop and hoop to keep them satisfied. They raised my monthly payment tremendously compared to my previous payments. I came to them so they would help me lower my payments and help me stay more financially stable in my life, but now I am at square one again. Now I have received more paperwork and was advised to contact my advisor before ever filling anything out first. The problem is; I have been trying to contact my Loan Advisor morning, noon and night for over two weeks now, via email and phone calls and have had no answer or responses to my messages. I want to continue my contract with them, but it seems as though I am not as important to them as they are to me.Desired Settlement: I would like better communication and to work with people who actually care about my situation and are willing to help me like I was promised.

Review: I contacted company on Facebook about forgiving my student loans. I gave them information in which they asked and [redacted], the financial specialist, said he would be able to ask. I informed [redacted] that I didn't have the $398 dollars in which he asked for to help with the service and told him I would contact him when the money was available. The company has been calling my house 3 times a day since I've spoken to [redacted]. Now, I feel my information has been compromised and I'm being harassed to do business with them. I've asked them to stop calling me, but that has not happened. I would like my personal information confiscated and destroyed and end all ties and communications with this company.Desired Settlement: I would like my personal information confiscated and destroyed and end all ties and communications with this company.

Review: When I called 1/17/14 and spoke with [redacted] at Student Loan Support, he advised me that I would get a prommissory note within 7-10 days, in the meantime I had to set up post dated payments in good faith, so they could start working on my student loans. He told me it would be two payments of $197.50, then I get the schedule and its a $29.00 monthly fee. I think ok and I call him and he advises me that it's maintenance. I accept this, but on 2/6/14 I contacted him knowing my payment was coming close to being deducted, I advised him that why would I let you deduct money from my account and not sign a promissory note. He stated it could take 3 months for this to happen, I stated that's not what I was told in the beginning. He gave me first a processing number of 847-366-1791, when I called it was a man who just said leave a message. So I contacted [redacted] again and he gave me the following number 866-233-8481. When I called this morning 2/20/14 they had an answering service and when I asked their hours she said she didn't know. There are too many inconsistencies and I still have not received my promissorry note. I even contacted the Student loan department with the goverment. They have never heard of the company nor has anyone forwarded anything to them about my loans as [redacted] stated on 2/6/14. I would like my $197.50 and $29.00 fee refunded and the future payments stopped!Desired Settlement: I just want my $197.50 and $29.00 fee refunded, my information deleted from their account and my future payments stopped.

Review: Last June I looked at refinancing my student loan. Studen Loan Services manager [redacted] told me that I could get a payment at $210, and obtain student loan forgiveness based upon my income and work situation. I did have to pay $395 up front, then pay a maintenance fee of $29 a month. Once a new servicer through the Department of Education took over my loans, the quoted repayment was $294, not the $210 promised me. Moreover, according to them, I did not qualify for loan forgiveness. I contacted Student Loan Services about this four times between November and January. They kept promising I did qualify for the lower payment and forgiveness and said they would take care of the issue for me. I never received any call backs from them. Moreover, my payment remained at $294 - which was still $90 above the quoted payment. On January 21, I did send an email, asking for a refund of the $395 I paid to them, along with a refund of the $29 monthly fee I paid for six months (I cancelled any further payments with my bank). I did not hear back either via email or phone. I called again in March, asking about the status of a refund. I was told that I would hear back within a few days from the company. That has not happened as of today (April 5). They misrepresented the repayment as well as student loan forgiveness.Desired Settlement: I would like to be refunded $569 - the amount I have paid in the amount of monthly fees and the up front cost of $395. I would also like an apology.

Response:

The Servicer through the Department of Education repayment was $294, not the $210 promised because the plan is based on income. When someone misrepresents their income verbally and then we receive the Proof of Income and it is higher, the payment for the loan is higher. The client does not pick up his phone.

Review: I was completely mislead by this company . I was told if I consolidated it would in fact lower my loan . The representative misled me into believing they were consolidated my loans And ended up charging me a 395.00 fee apparently to process (paperwork) with my current loan company which I could have did for free if they would have explained that they weren't going through a new company . They told me my student loan payment would be 153.00 a month. Now that I havw talked to ny loan company I found out it is 217 a month. They never informed me that it was going to be that much higher or I would have canceled before they finalized the consolidation called them several times to cancel and get a refund finally after I sent a email telling them I was filling a complaint with the Revdex.com someone called me back and stated they couldn't refund me money even though I was dissatisfied And mislead by there representative. They did send me a paper to cancel the 29.00 monthly fee but refused to issue a reimbursement. There are a scam and shouldn't be allow to take advantage of peopleDesired Settlement: I would like the 395.00 refund. Along with the 3 months of 29.00 that they took out.

According to student loan support I can cancel services any time and receive a full refund guarantee and customer satisfaction. I'm not satisfied with this services. Now since I want to cancel the services no one is returning any calls to me,not even the manager. I would like to get this issue resolved quick as possible.Desired Settlement: $226 and if another draft of $197 is taken from my account I would like that back as well

Review: I contacted this company about consolidating my student debt with Sallie Mae. The representative I worked with told me they would consolidate all four of my student loan debts into one easy monthly payment with them. I first had to pay two payments of 150.00 and now have paid 29.99 a month for three months. Sallie Mae contacted me recently asking me why I have missed payments. When I explained to them that I went through a debt consolidation company they told me they did not see any action being taken towards my student loans. Nothing had been consolidated or is being currently. Basically I am making payments for a service that does not exist while my credit is being hurt by payments I am missing through my original lender. Please helpDesired Settlement: I want my 300.00 back and the three payments of 29.99 that I made.

I am paying 30 dollars a month towards getting my loans paid off. This company charged me a service for consolidating my laons. Taking them over from my lender and me paying them the 30 towards getting my loan paid off. I just want me money back and my account with them canceled. If not I will notify my bank and tell them to no longer allow payments drawn from this company or close the account all together.

Review: I am extremely concerned about my association with Student Loan Support. I could never really get a response to how the money I was sending them (2 payments of $197.50 and then monthly payments of $29.00 for Monitoring and acting as a go-between on my behalf with the Department of Education) was going to be applied to my loans. I have already paid the first of 2 $197.50 payments to Student Loan Support to consolidate my student loans and I have not heard if I have been granted some sort of loan forgiveness or consolidation with a smaller payment (or no payment) as I was all but guaranteed. I started the process with them on December 8th and, although it has been only 30 days since I agreed to this process, I am extremely nervous about moving forward. I have already paid them $197.50 with an additional payment of $197.50 (with additional monthly fees of $29) and now I see that this company has been flagged/alerted by the Revdex.com, it has a Revdex.com rating of "F" and that this company is not Revdex.com accredited. I have not worked in over 2 years (I am on workers' compensation and receive only $198/month from the companies workers' compensation insurance carrier. I cannot afford to pay out money I don't have to a company with such a poor Revdex.com rating and that may be ripping me off.Desired Settlement: That I receive a refund of the $197.50 that I have already paid and that the next payment of $197.50 NOT be withdrawn on January 22nd (and obviously the monthly monitoring fees of $29 either). I would like a refund and to void the contract with this company.

Review: I wanted to get assistance with student loans and student loan support seemed like the place . Studentloansupport.us site is even accredited by the Revdex.com. Payed all the dues they asked for and provided them with my bank information for funds withdrawal, eventually I haven't being able to get hold of any of the persons I worked with and their numbers are now not working numbers. Is there a way to assist me as I need to stop these payments, maybe get refunds and find out if this is actually a credited site or a bogus site.Desired Settlement: Revdex.com to be aware, Company to disclose all information when trying to sign up students, I would be happy to get my refunds and stop all future payments, decent customer service as now every person I worked with has a non working number.

Review: I applied with Student Loan Support on 3-21-14 for student loanforgiveness; my account manager who took me thru the process andexplained how they would help was Loretta [redacted]. I had explained to herthat I was already under an Income Based Repayment (IBR) plan with mycurrent student loan servicer. They required for me to give my bankaccount numbers so they could debit an initial payment of $395, whichoccurred on April 2, 2104. On April 2, 2014, I received an email from [redacted], Document Processor, stating that they would send myapplication for Direct Loan Consolidation on the Income Based RepaymentPlan that day. On April 11th I received a notice from US Dept of Edstating that they cancelled my application for loan consolidation because Iwas not eligible for consolidation, because I had already consolidatedwhen I began the IBR plan. I called Student Loan Support and spoke with [redacted], who advised me to send an copy of the letter to her so that Icould get my $395 refunded, at "client [email protected]";which I did the following morning. I contacted Ms. [redacted] to advise her ofthe situation and see if she could do anything, or check on the status ofmy refund; she had nothing further to advise, except for me to contactthe cr. On 4/21 I emailed Ms. [redacted] again requesting adirective regarding a refund of my money, and for them to cease thedebit of the $29 monthly payments from my bank account. On4/29 Ireceived this message from [redacted]:"Your application for DirectLoan Consolidation on the Income Based Repayment Plan has beensubmitted on your behalf todayYou will receive a status update by emailfrom our office advising you of the progress of your application inapproximately 30 business days." I sent a response email to her: I hadalready been turned down and my application was cancelled by the Deptof Ed and again requested reimbursement. As of now, I have not receivedresponse from them at all; no refund has been forthcoming thus far.Desired Settlement: I want a full refund of my payment of $395, and for them to assureme that there will be no attempt to debit my account further. WhenI advised them that I was already in IBR, they should have knownthat I wouldn't be eligible, and there shouldn't have been anyfurther processing, including their request for my bank info. I wanta full refund asap.

Regards,

Review: I started to work with student loan support in March of 2014. I was told that the process of getting my loan approved would be completed in time for me to file my taxes without needing an extension. They asked me for copies of my paychecks which I had submitted. Over a month later I didn't hear anything from them but I was still paying my monthly fees. As tax filing time was approaching I asked what was taking so long and the response was that they didn't get my pay stubs. So I sent them for a second time in email form as a response to a previously received email so I knew it was the correct address. This excuse was given to me at least 3 more times as the reason I had not heard a final decisions each time I sent updated paycheck stubs. Finally I was told to send them to fedloan, I sent them via fax this time. Within a few days I received a letter in the mail from fedloan inc which stated that they didn't know what the fax was for, they didn't have a file for me. At this time my tax filing need to be extended and I was still paying monthly fees to student loan support along with the initial $395 fee that I had to pay in the first two months. In august I felt my money was going to waste so I asked to cancel my account with student loan support. In the contract that I signed it stated that if I wasn't approved (which I had not yet been) OR if I wished to cancel before being approved I was entitled to a full refund. When I requested this I was put in touch with a supervisor Michael Edge who told me he would submit the request for a refund and it would take a day to hear back. Over the next TWO WEEKS I had called trying to get in contact with Michael because I never hear from him. I was given excuses every time that I called: he's on the phone, he's in a meeting, he left for the day. Each time I was told the person I spoke to would leave a message he never responded. Finally I called again and he was short saying I could not get a refund and hung up.Desired Settlement: I would like this company to stick to their end of the contract and provide my full refund. I was told there is another part of the contract which states differently as the excuse to why I can not have a refund but after careful review I don't see anywhere that I'm not entitled to my refund. However it states in multiple sections that I am entitled to a full refund.

Review: I called on an advertisement I had seen regarding student loan support. Before I could even get all the information about what the process would do for me, The representative began asking for my personal information to get the process started. The entire phone call seemed tangent based and non informative. I was told that we would pay less money towards the loan overall. Which sounded great--until we went through the personal information, the overall payment was actually more expensive than what we were already paying at that time. I thought this was a little interesting, but knew that overall I would be paying less in the long run. So I was fine with it. I was also told that payments ($197.50x2) would need to be made up front to begin the process. When I saw the two payments come out, my understanding was the money would go to paying off our loan. It did not. After confronting [redacted] about the $400+ dollars the company had taken from me and what was actually done with my money, she kept quickly interrupted me saying, "there is nothing we are going to do about that." There was no help generated only a quick excerpt of energy to deter my attention to the fact that $424 had been withdrawn from my account, not a dime went to student loans, and there was no evidence of services performed outside of gathering my information. Meaning there was no way we would get any money back. Each comment I made to [redacted] about doing what was best for me and my family seemed irrelevant to her and her agenda to simply keep me there paying into their monthly payment of $29/month of, what I feel to be, irrelevant services. She kept interrupting me and saying, "stay with us for just this one year and take advantage of this great opportunity."Desired Settlement: There are a few things I would like before I get law support from an attorney: I would like all money replaced (refunded) that was taken from my account by the company ($424) for supposed services. I would also like them to cancel any affiliation with me or my wife, and our information to be deleted permanently from their records. I also would like them to be more informative up front instead of trying to sell people on loan consolidation and support. They don't want that, they want your money.

Business

Response:

[redacted] is actually talking about our client, who is his wife, [redacted] “[redacted]” [redacted]’s file was closed as incomplete. The following is what transpired:

· We completed our processing based on the income information given to us by the Client. On March 4, 2014 we sent the program documents to the client for signature and then followed up with a phone call at the same time.

· We called the client on March 27, 2014, client’s husband left us a message and we tried to return the call and left a message on his cell and their home #.

· We attempted to make contact with the client several times but to no avail and then received an email from the client stating she did not have a phone and directed us to call her husband’s cell phone, which we did several times.

· This client's monthly payment had increased because what they stated for their income did not match the higher income when the tax returns were received.

· May 1, 2014 client said he wanted a refund.

The client misstated their income and then decided not to move forward when the loan repayment amounts increased and now wants our service fee refunded after we completed the documents. The money for our fee is always separate from any money client's owe for their loan repayments and we make that very clear.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

It is an obvious attempt of Student Loan Support to belittle any concern I have regarding the function of their company. I do not wish to get caught up in a battle of words, mostly because it seems that this company is all about that and overlooking client needs and wants. I just want my money back for services non-rendered and would like our information rebuked and taken out of company accounts.

Review: When I signed up with Student Loan Support, I was given the impression that the $395 processing fee was not going to be taken out of my bank account without them first contacting me by phone. However, this was wrong as stated in my customer agreement. That's fine. Because of this charge, my bank account was overdrafted to a total of $-343.13. This includes all of the money, $120.63, being removed from our savings account to try and cover the overages. I was told by an agent of theirs that the next charge would be for $29 taken out on May 29th. However, I incurred a $29 charge on May 7th. When I called to inquire about this, I was told that this was because they had been working on my account since the beginning of April. However, I have also been told that they cannot begin working on my account until they receive my income information, which has been sent in to the email they told me to. After being given the run around, I have lost faith in this company. When I requested that my account be canceled and I receive a refund (which their cancellation policy says that I can receive if I have not received documentation), I was told that I had to speak to a manager. I three times, and each time I was told a manager would be back in touch with me asap. I even explained that it was very important that I speak to someone quickly so I could be refunded the overdraft fees from my bank. It has been over 24 hours and I haven't heard anything from anyone.Desired Settlement: I would like both the $395 fee and $29 fee refunded to my bank account as well as my account with Student Loan Support to be canceled and closed. It was my fault that this happened, but I don't understand why I cannot get a refund since I have not received documentation and why no one will answer my call or call me back.

Review: I received a phone call from this company after expressing interest in consolidating my student loans. I paid a fee of $395.00 to get the process rolling. Well, it's been rolling at a very slow pace. I've called and e-mailed the company and was told the process is almost complete. I just received a notification a few days ago saying they needed my check stubs again. I was also informed by my current student loan holder that my student loans were about to be past due. It's been 3 months. I'm done. I know things can take time, but having paid the extreme price of $395.00 plus the monthly fee of $29.00, I expected more. I don't feel I should have been the one checking up on the company to ensure things are being done. I feel with having put down that money they should be offering better customer service! I am working with my current student loan company, which doesn't charge any kind of service fee, and qualify for everything this company said they would do for me (income based repayment plan and public service forgiveness). I would like to have my money refunded.Desired Settlement: I would like my money back since I did not receive the services that I was expecting. I stretched myself thin to pay this fee.

We sent her a refund.

Review: My husband and I called to consolidate our student loans. Found out that the company is not needed, 3rd party solicitor. We were each given a contract, signed the contract and was later told that $395 would be taken out of our account for each of us then would incur a 29.00 maintenance fee for each of us. Once the first payment was received this company would start acting on my behalf to consolidate our student loans. They have not acted nor helped us with our student loans. They received money however have not provided a service. They have received $790 dollars from us and $174 in maintenance fees and have not provided any service on our behalf. We have tried contacting this company via email and phone calls and both are unanswered. Phone calls go to voice mail. We are very disappointed with this company feeding on fear and uncertainty of people.Desired Settlement: We would like our money back. ALL of it! We want all future maintenance fees stopped and cancel contracts.

I was able to get in contact with someone on Friday, May 9, 2014 and discussed closing the accounts and receiving a refund. I was told to call back later that day or on Monday to check the status of this request. When I call, I only get the voicemail and have to leave a message. I did call Monday, Tuesday and today.

We spoke to both [redacted] and [redacted] on May 21. We submitted their documents 5/23, as requested. The DOE takes 30 days for feedback and we are monitoring their file. Maybe [redacted] should contact [redacted].

I was taken advantage of by this company. First they told me my payment would be $30.00 per month. Then come to find out that this is a monthly processing fee to go through their company on top of making my payment to pay for my student loans! And after a $550.00 charge to process a application which they never processed. Meanwhile I am thinking they are handling their business meanwhile my student loans went into default, and have now messed with my credit. I am unhappy with this company they will not refund my $550.00 for processing an application they never processed... This company is a scam and I will never refer my worst enemy to this company!! People consolidate loans to make paying them back more affordable how does this make it more affordable? With all the undercover fees they don't tell you about until after they already took advantage of you...

Review: Back in May 2014 I started speaking with [redacted], Account Manager, [redacted]. I also allowed him to speak with my sister [redacted]. This company informed us President Obama recently passed the William D. Ford Act, which allows YOU, the borrower, to consolidate your student loans through the Department of Education. Student Loan Support works directly with you and the DOE to facilitate your approval for one new consolidated loan. This will pay off all of your existing loans, lower your payment, and eventually eliminate your debt altogether. This is from his email (We can do 1st payment of 197.50 on 7/18 and 2nd payment of 197.50 on 8/11. The recurring payment of only 29.00 begins 45 - 60 days from document submission to the D.O.E.) We made these payments and then received a call from the Deptartment of Education informing us her loans were still in default. I called Student Loan back several times. I spoke to [redacted], X9864, then Brooke X9177, then another Dave X383 then finally [redacted]. They were trying to figure out who West Assessment was supposedly. I found that West Assessment was a contractor with the the D.O.E. and they did not know anything of Student Loan Support. And the DOE informed me they would never require a down payment to start a rehabilitation program for student loans. So, these people took our money and we did not receive any service that we were tricked into paying for.Desired Settlement: I would like refunded for all the amounts paid to student loan support. I have already spoke to the DOE and am working the issue with the loans. I paid them a total of $453.00. I have tried to speak to people at this location and no one will return my call or give an explanation. They are falsely advertising who they are. They lead us to believe they were contracted with the DOE and come to find out they are a private 3rd party company.

have called several times and along with my sister [redacted] and they never return the calls. Neither of us have heard from them. They can call [redacted] or [redacted]. Best number is the first one. Last [redacted] emailed on the 3rd and never responded. His info is below. The documents they are supposedly awaiting for were in order for them to speak on my behalf to the West Assess Collections. Which would not respolve anything. I opted to work directly with Wesr Assess who is a contractor with the dept of education. This is what we thought Student Loan Support was already doing but they weren't. We already paid them for a service that they clearly weren't providing or else West Assess would not have been trying to collect on the student loans. We thought we were out of default. They never even sent paperwork to begin with so I should have realized. All the last message says is they "REQUEST" a refund. It doesn't say the amount which should be $453.00. What if they do not refund the money since this was only a request. Also will it go back to the bank account that it was debit from? I also have a phone log of all the calls make to this company. I am attaching a word document with details.

[redacted] - Client Services Department - Student Loan Support - [redacted] - was only one of the people my sister [redacted] spoke with. Basically need to confirm refund.

Review: Student Loan Support, 3100 Bristol Street, #300 Costa Mesa, CA 92626 charged me $424.00 with the agreement they would handle the student loan debt I incurred while obtaining my education. They also were going to charge a monthly fee for their services.

While talking with them about their services, I was also seeking the best possible solution to the debt I owe. In the process I determined that the Student Loan Support had misrepresented themselves and I decided [redacted] and [redacted] had not been honest with me. They took my money stating they filed the necessary information to repay my debts. The company did not submit completed documents.Desired Settlement: I request refund of my money and told Student Loan Support to shred the information they had on me. At which time I was treated with hateful words with no return on my payments. They took my hard earned money and I want it back.

I also suggest lowering their Revdex.com to an F instead of a C- They are making a lot of money off of desperate people.
