I bought their most expensive package for resume, cover letter and *** profile.
The first draft of my resume had so many typographical errors and grammatical errors that I could not get through the first para. I sent it back and the next version was just as bad. I asked for my money back and instead was re-assigned.
The second resume had less typos and grammatical errors but still was written in a way that I will never be able to use it. The style of english was childish and unprofessional.
I asked for my money back again and heard nothing. Then I got my *** profile which was terrible again, full of errors. I complaint and 4 or more weeks later I got it back and it was even worse. Here is the first couple lines from that profile. (I took out my name)
"My name is [firstname] [lastname] with comprehensive experience in managing projects, budgets, schedules, highlighting risks
and coordination works. Mr. [firstname] is technology proficient with excellent business writing and communication skills. I
am also meticulous senior program manager who is assigned the toughest and highest priority projects that require
meeting tight deadlines while delivering superior..."
Goes from first to third person. Sounds like it was written by a foreign 8 year old kid. etc. Disgusting considering I paid to get an executive level resume written.

I agreed to have my resume reviewed and updated. I was attracted to doing this because it was going to take under 5 days and it was recommended through AARP. After 2 days, I was asked if I wanted to have a linked in profile also for more money. I said no. Then I was asked if I wanted a cover letter also for more money. I declined. I was asked if I wanted a CV or resume after that. I kept being asked questions instead of being given the product I wanted and needed. After 5 days, I asked for my money back. I did not receive it. I didn't receive a product so I would like my money back.

About a year ago I paid Top Resume $200 to rewrite my resume and to write a boilerplate cover letter. It did take longer than expected (3 weeks) but that's not why I'm giving them 1 star. They have a 60-day guarantee to double the number of interviews I got. I didn't even get 1 interview.b They put me off until the guarantee expired so I got no satisfaction. But that's not the end of my complaint. About a year later I signed up with a job site that offered a free resume review. I thought what could it hurt to maybe improve the already paid for Top Resume that I was still using. When I got the free review back, it came from Top Resume to my surprise. And they gove me a ton of notes and problems with the resume. It was the exact same resume they wrote for me for $200! Laura at Top Resume told me that it was impossible for them to review the same resume twice, but she is wrong and I have all the documents and email to prove it. Unfortunately, I'm out $200 and still unemployed.

I paid $349.00 for a resume, cover letter, and LinkedIn profile remake and the quality of the services I received did not live up to the statements that they advertised. The site claims that they match you up with a writer that knows the industry in which you are focusing your job search.

" We have a network of over 1,000 writers, including certified career coaches, former and current recruiters, and professionals with specialized experience in over 65 industries. This ensures we can pair each client with someone who is a strong match for their needs. TopResume recruits and vets our writers based upon the value they can bring to our clients."

Based on the two drafts I received, it was obvious that the writer did not know the industry (healthcare IT), and judging by some of the sentence structures I even wonder if the writer was actually someone who only knows English as a second language. I did ask the writer what knowledge he had of the healthcare industry since he did not seem to comprehend some of the terminology and used them incorrect on the provided resume. He never provided me with his experience in my industry. I voiced my dissatisfaction with the delivered documents and he responded he, "I'm sorry to hear that you're disappointed with your documents, and will let our support team know about the situation." I have heard nothing back from the support team.
I have provided my feedback to TopResume and my intent of filing a complaint with the Revdex.com.

When I had my resume reviewed the report was impressive and I decided to go with the company and pain around 250 dollars for a resume, cover letter and Linkedin profile update.
The company degraded my resume to something which was very vague and did not highlight my accomplishments at all. It was frustrating and I sent a small review and the reviewer just copy pasted my words. Called customer service who was adamant and said they did what they could and I asked for a refund as I was not satisfied to which they answered they won't and decided they will take a look into it, and I got an email today that they have closed my case. I am not happy at all at their devious and fraudulent service and want my money back, because they did absolutely nothing to make my resume or cover letter stand out rather they took my 15-20 years of experience and made it into 2 pages or some unreadable jargon with vague language.
I really wish I had checked them out on Revdex.com.

I found their ad in the AARP on line newsletter. I paid $159.00 for a resume and cover letter. I’ve never had any contact with a resume writer or has any resume sent to me. When I called the first day to ask about the services I was told it could be completed in 4 days wiry the template I was sending.

I was referred to TopResume through a professional organization that uses TopResume for a free critique service through their career page. I used this service and then received lots of marketing emails about how this service could greatly improve my resume. I ordered the Resume rewrite and cover letter package and was billed $189. On 3/*/19 I ordered the package and submitted the questionnaire on 3/*/19. The company advertises a first draft within *-7 business days of this questionnaire. Since that time I have contacted the company multiple times asking for an update, receiving no response. This is very different from the customer service you get before you purchase a service from them which had been prompt. Because of this lack of communication I decided to check reviews. I found multiple websites with recent, very poor reviews of this company, that essentially it's a scam and if a product is ever delivered, it is exceedingly poor. I would like a full refund as no product has been delivered to me. I feel I was enticed into purchasing this with false promises from the marketing team. I also had a false sense of security because I was under the impression that my professional organization would only encourage members to receive a critique from a reputable service. Unfortunately that is not the case and I have contacted them also about this.

I am on the academic job market and used TopResume to revise my academic CV (they advertise on academic job web sites and purport to be experts at academic CVs). They could not have done a worse job. The first version came back with countless errors and in the wrong format. I had to send them a link so that they would reformat my CV correctly. The second version was even worse than the first: besides leaving out critical information, random words and phrases (e.g. "***" and "DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S OFFICE") were inserted throughout. I had to spend over seven hours of my own time and effort reformatting my CV. When I reached out to TopResume's "customer service" their response was that they are a "fully collaborative service" and that they would be happy to match me with another resume specialist. They continue to ignore my requests for a refund (I paid $199). Their business practices are unprofessional and unethical.

I requested their free review one evening and was initially surprised to find that my review was completed before I woke up the next morning. I read through the entire critique with some confusion. Katie, my reviewer, accused my resume of being "visually uneven" (which it is not), encouraged me to use a few more bullet points (if anything, I could use FEWER bullet points), claimed that I had an objective statement instead of a career summary (I had neither), said that my resume contained passive words like "answer" (which does not feature in my resume, except as part of the name of a specific technology), and pointed out that the language in my resume is repetitive (which is not the case). By the time I got to the end of the critique, I realized that this was a generic review which would probably apply to a lot of people seeking resume help, but absolutely not mine. At the bottom of the page, an opportunity is given to rate the reviewer. I left Katie 1 out of 5 stars with a message stating that it was apparent to me that Katie had not even looked at my resume. When I submitted the review, I was immediately redirected to a page to purchase their services. Presumably this strategy would have been more effective if I had left a 5-star review... Amused, I closed the tab. I was done with the matter and forgot about it, but I just received an email from Katie this morning. The email is completely generic. It begins with, "I wanted to touch base after you've had some time to review your resume critique. Do you have any questions? Feel free to email me, I'm here to help!" It then continues on extolling the virtues of purchasing their services. The email shows no sign that Katie is even aware of having received a poor review. I did a web search for my reviewer's name, and the top result was: *** It would appear that an unfortunate number of people actually paid for this company's services and had even worse experiences.

Stay clear ! Total waste of my time & money. As many other users have stated below ( see all the 1 star reviews ) the time table presented was never met , the writer I was matched up with did not know my industry, misspelled words and used UK English spelling for others , made grammatical errors and used run on sentences etc , etc... over all a week after my comments I finally got a generic email with a second version as bad as the first. This was the Executive package! Had to find another service . Customer service informed me that the service is “non refundable” so make sure you read all the reviews before you find yourself in our shoes ... don’t just walk away , run!

I ordered a resume package from Topresume and paid $219 for a resume, cover letter, and linked in profile update. I paid in full on February *** and received the first drafts on February *** It was far from the quality they state you will receive plus some of the sentence structure was poor. I provided feedback only to go back and forth with them. I didn't pay for a resume service to have to collaborate so much that I write the majority of the cover letter and resume. I did notify customer service on February *** stating the difficulty and that I still do not have a product that is even 50% complete. I asked for a refund and they stated they couldn't give a full refund since I received the first draft, that I considered not even 50% complete. They stated they could give 30% or provide a more experienced writer. Since I didn't feel a refund of 30% was a fair trade I decided to go with the more experienced writer on February ***. To this date I have not heard from Topresume. I sent them another email today (Feb ***). This is a very disappointing process and experience. I only hope I can safe someone else who is looking for this service the trouble.

I ordered the Executive priority resume package from Top Resume on 2/*/19. This included resume, cover letter, linked in profile, phone communication and I added posting to job sites for $439.00. Order # ***. I was promised a first draft within 1 week (by 2/*/19). I did not hear from my resume writer until 2//19. In his initial email, Mark M (senior resume writer) greeted me as "Cheryl". My name is Jean. I responded to him and to Top Resume customer service that this type of inattention to detail was unacceptable. I received no response from Top Resume. Mark responded that he had just sent the same message to another client and he "neglected to change the name". His next email was not grammatically correct and I again commented that it was unacceptable. Mark called me on 2//19 to discuss my current resume. He was to start a draft and all he asked for was zip codes of the jobs I had in the past, and expiration dates of my certifications. I am a clinical physician assistant. I received the first draft of my resume on 2//19. This was 1 week later than promised. From this draft, it is clear that Mark has no idea what a clinical physician assistant does. Furthermore, his grammar and syntax were inadequate to the task of resume writing. My resume includes grammatical errors, awkward phrasing, and incorrect punctuation. He misrepresented some areas of expertise including adding supervisory expertise I do not possess. He did not capture the clinical aspect of any of my positions. I have worked in two separate neurology positions. In the resume, Mark conflated them confusing which data went with which company and physician. These were clearly outlined for him on my original resume. In other areas, Mark superimposed job duties from other positions found elsewhere in the resume. For example: I did pre-surgical medical exams in the surgery position but he listed it in the occupational medicine position where it did not belong. Again, he had my original resume as a guide. He listed that I am versed in massage which I am not. There is no mention of massage on my original resume. I founded my acupuncture business. As an acupuncture practitioner he has my achievements as "helping patients". Seriously? "helping patents" was the best he could do? Again, he has no idea what an acupuncturist does. He also implies that I can practice acupuncture in my job as a physician assistant which is incorrect. They are two separate positions that have separate regulating boards and practice regulations. It is clear from the draft that a reasonably accurate/acceptable resume for a clinical physician assistant will not be forthcoming. I respectfully request a full refund. Thank you.

I used TopResume to rewrite my resume and cover letter. I received the completed resume, provided feedback, and was given a revised version. To my knowledge, not being a professional resume writer, thought it to be satisfactory. I was paying their service for their expertise, and trusted them to ensure the quality and meet requirements for a resume.

I joined GlassDoor a few weeks later, and was offered a free resume review. I submitted my resume, and received an email from TopResume. I wasn't aware that they would be the service reviewing my resume, but I was interested to see the results. In this email, I received negative feedback on many aspects of my resume, and was told these were things that only professional writers would know and that I should use their service. I was quite upset at this feedback given the fact that I had used this company to write said resume. The possible explanations are: 1) TopResume cannot stand by the work done by their writers and I did not receive a quality resume 2) TopResume will tell you that your resume needs to be re-written regardless of the content which is a dishonorable practice.

I requested a complimentary revision after receiving their feedback given that they were the ones who wrote it, or a refund. I was told that my revision period had ended on the project so there was nothing they can do. I think this is absolutely ridiculous, if a company has negative feedback on their own work they should be held accountable and provide a revision from a higher quality writer or give me a refund.

The customer service representative has continued to offer no solution. Their most recent response is exactly the same as the one that I have reported in my complaint. They once again stated my revision period had ended and there is now nothing they can do.

I did not request revision because I believed my resume writer was the professional in the situation and me having no experience in this area did not see any issues with the work provided. I am now complaining because the company itself found flaws in the work I was provided, and they should stand by their own work and if they can't then reparations should be provided.

This incident completely eliminates their credibility and they should be ashamed that they have criticized their own work and then refused to offer me at the very least a complimentary revision.

They have offered no real solution and have simply continued to say they will not do anything for me.

I paid for a resume rewrite and LinkedIn profile rewrite. I was assured that if I did not get additional interviews from paying for the service, they would do a rewrite for free.
I notified them of this and shared with them some of the methods I attempted to get interviews (which they requested but did not require to receive their guarantee).
That was 14 days ago and I have heard nothing back from them after emailing several times. I also called their phone number on their email that is a disconnected number.

I received an email confirmation on January 26, 2019 for my order from TopResume further promoting their resume posting service. The very beginning of the email, after greeting me, read: "Thank you for ordering our One-Stop Resume Posting Service. This email provides instructions on what you'll need to do to post your resume on up to 100 career sites in minutes. Then you'll be available to over 1.5 million employers and recruiters who search for resumes on these sites every day."
After sending multiple messages regarding how the process works exactly and emailing my resume writer (another service I purchased and the only one who responded within a reasonable amount of time), my resume was posted to only 24 job sites. After yet more emails and forwardings of previous messages Emily G replied that the the number of sites are limited by job title and industry. I replied that according to the promotional email 24 postings is way below the "up to 100 career sites" no matter the industry or job title. At this point Emily began to reply in a more timely fashion, ironically, firmly stating that all sales a final and offering to exchange services. We have gone back and forth yet she continues to be evasive and defensive. Yes, I am extremely dissatisfied. I sent another email to a broader group and after noting my displeasure , Devlin replied dryly:
"Thank you for reaching out to us,
We apologise for any unpleasantness you have experienced, please accept our deepest apology.
Should you have any further questions in future feel free to contact us."
TopResume baits and switches offerings as well ranks very low on service. Now it's clear why resume oriented businesses get a bad rap like used car salesmen. They promote, provide low level service and then become defensive and dismissive when customers stand up for themselves.

Paid to have my resume updated and quality of resume was below par and was acknowledged by the resume writer. Resume writer apologies and said that there's no time limit for review and when comments were resent, received a email from customer service to pay an additional $150.

Experience so far has been terrible and the organisation has not delivered a completed resume or updated LinkedIn profile.

I wanted you to know that I chose a provider strictly on the basis that AARP recommended them.
My experience with TopResume was beyond terrible.
1. The first writer they connected me with had misspellings and errors thru the first attempt.
2. I asked that I be assigned a new writer and explained why
3. They assigned me a new writer and I informed her of why I wanted a new writer
4. Her first draft was even worse - the SAME misspellings and now she even butchered the names of the cities I worked and got some of them swapped across jobs.
5. When asked by TR to review I gave them 1 star out of 10 and explained all of this. I asked for a refund of the $300
6. I did not receive any response to this feedback but was sent a "form" email a couple of days later from customer care asking if I needed any changes. Again I told them how bad things were and I asked for a refund.
7. Again - no response.
8. Now I received a "form" email telling me how great it was to work with me and my docs were available to download. No mention of my feedback.

After multiple contacts they never once addressed my request for a refund and posted my docs as final with no feedback from me. They will claim they offered me opportunity for feedback and it was during those opportunities that I expressed my dissatisfaction and requested a refund.

I purchased a resume and cover letter package on January *** and I still have not received my finished product. I did not receive the first draft within 5-7 days that was promised on the website. It took closer to two weeks to receive it. When I did receive it, I found that the cover letter was too generic and not industry-specific, and it was just a cut and paste job by the writer. I provided specific suggestions on how to improve it. When I received my second draft on January ***, my edits had not been incorporated. It was like the writer did not even read my edits. I sent an angry email stating my issues with the lack of industry-specific terms, and that my first edits had not been incorporated by the writer. By Feb. *** I still had not received my resume and sent an email. Customer service said that they would contact the writer and find out when it will be done. I still have not heard back.

To make matters worse, I recently got a job using my original resume because the TopResume is still not done. I no longer qualify for the 60-day money back guarantee that promises double the interviews because I don't need to use the resume anymore. How will I even know if the resume is good or better than my original? I feel that my original one is better and I am going to have to spend some time working on it to make it specific to my industry. I don't feel that I should have to do that when I paid $160 for a service.
