The Retail Equation Reviews (415)

Dear Ms. [redacted],After thorough review of your RAR, Toys R Us has removed return transactions [redacted] from your file. The Retail Equation has amended your Return Activity File. Please note, the 365 day waiting period has...

also been removed.   If you believe your RAR still contains an error, you may submit into your Return Activity File a consumer statement up to 100 words in length to explain items in your file.   To submit a consumer statement into your Return Activity File for disclosure, please reference the transaction number for the return(s) you wish to dispute.  Please mail your consumer statement via the U.S. Postal Service to The Retail Equation using the information listed below:              Address:          RAR (Return Activity Report)The Retail Equation[redacted]  Regards,The Retail Equation

Dear Ms. [redacted],
Please understand that The Retail Equation is only contracted by [redacted] to collect and store their return data. The Retail Equation does not implement any [redacted] policies or return guidelines. Regarding [redacted] stores inside of [redacted]. The [redacted] system does not recognize [redacted] receipts and vise versa. So, although you purchased your [redacted] item inside a [redacted] store, [redacted] will treat any return or exchanges as non-receipted. If you wish to avoid this in the future please feel free to return your [redacted] items to a free standing [redacted] store, this way your receipt will count. Regarding your statement about The Retail Equation clearing the data after 12 months. This is incorrect, the data will remain in the system as long as the retailer would like it to stay. This is [redacted]'s data and we do not have permission nor the authorization to remove it from the database. You also mention that your son and husband ID's are connected to yours, they are not. Lastly, you have requested a "full copy of my file not just the return activity report", the Return Activity Report is the only report The retail Equation can send to you, there are no other reports. The Return Activity Report lists the previous return or exchange attempts with [redacted], this is the information [redacted] looks at when they make their decisions to approve, warn or deny a return.
Regards,
The Retail Equation

Dear Ms. [redacted] ,
Please provide us with the transaction ID number located on your denial slip. The transaction ID number is a long series of numbers (9-11 digits long) followed by the letters T.H.D. Once we have this information we will be able to further assist you and forward your complaint...

and request to The Home Depot for their review.

Customer Service

This company says they flag returns for abuse or fraud. They do more than that, they blacklist people based on the NUMBER of returns even if not that high - then advise a business to no longer accept returns from this person. A lot of people are upset by this and these businesses are losing a lot of money. I'd be surprised if they haven't been sued yet.

Hello Mr. [redacted],
Thank you for contacting The Retail Equation (TRE) and allowing us the opportunity to answer your questions. First we'd like to explain what it TRE does for The [redacted]. The Retail Equation is contracted by The [redacted] to gather and store return data. This information is...

used for return authorization at The [redacted]. At no point is this data sold, traded or shared with any other organization. You make mention that your information was collected without authorization. To this I'll refer you to The [redacted]'s Privacy and Security page where it does state that some personal information may be collected.http://www.[redacted].com/c/Privacy_Security.
At this point the reason for your recent denial have been due to The [redacted]'s return guidelines. The [redacted] does limit non-receipted returns and also receipted returns where store credit was used as tender. Please keep in mind that as long as you have the original receipt and there is zero store credit on said receipt, The [redacted] should be able to process your returns.
The [redacted] does value your business and has temporarily (11/12-12/12) re-established your ability to conduct these types of returns. Please feel free to return your unwanted merchandise to The [redacted] during this time.
Regards,
The Retail Equation.

My response to the business is as follows:It seems that your company feels it has the right to change the store return policy. You state that your firm is correct in the no return that it created even though it is a direct contradiction of written store policy. There is no reason for a temporary change to a return policy your company feels it can simply place on my account. I will not accept a temporary lift on your self imposed change of a written store policy. I would expect to be treated as a valued customer and the Home Depot written store policy will be enforced on my account in the same manner it is posted by the company.
Regards,

Dear Mr. [redacted],

After thorough review of your RAR, The [redacted] has found that return-THD was not in error. However, The [redacted] has temporarily (June 14th – July 15th) re-established your ability to...

conduct returns. Please keep in mind that The [redacted] can retrieve receipt information if the original credit card, debit card or a blank check is present with the account numbers that were used to make the purchase. The use of store credits not issued directly to you or letting others use your store credits may also impact your ability to conduct returns. Also please note that store credit purchased items if returned are treated as non-receipted.

-  Always keep your paper or electronic receipt. This speeds up the transaction time and makes your return a receipted return.
- The most effective way to prevent future denials is to use credit/debit cards or customer agreements for your in-store purchases. This allows our cashiers the ability to use our Receipt Lookup functionality to locate your receipt on subsequent returns.
- Store credits should be used minimally and as an exception only. Store credits typically arise from prior non-receipted returns. Receipted returns where store credit was used on the original receipt are treated as non-receipted returns and are therefore subject to system approval. Also, utilizing store credits issued to others can negatively impact your ability to make future non-receipted returns.
- If you are a contractor or a PRO customer, signing up for the PRO Xtra program can help you maintain your receipts online, receive electronic receipts and offer many additional benefits. If you are interested in this program, please visit your local The [redacted] store’s PRO desk.
- Or ensure all PAR’s are having their PRO XTRA account holders use their information when processing sales and/or returns. The benefits as well as customer service is endless, and allows the systems receipt lookup functionality to always locate their receipt, thus avoiding a denial.

Yes. Company has my drivers license identification stored.
