Review: I was told if I paid the Student Loan Project $750.00 in two payments, I would have my student loan consolidated into one low monthly payment with a 20 year forgiveness if I continued to pay the loan on time. This loan was never consolidated. I was transferred to a company called SLAC. They told me I had already consolidated my loan and there was nothing more they could do for me, and it took them 6 months to tell me this with a 38. dollar per month charge.
I did not receive anything for the $750. I paid The Student Loan Project. I have been paying SLAC $38. per month to continue each month and consolidate my loan. It took them 6 months to finally tell me there was nothing they could do to help me. I was completely 100% ripped off, and did not receive anything for the $750 I paid to The Student Loan Project. When I called The Student Loan Project to tell them about this, they told me my complaint would be transferred to management. I have heard nothing back from them, and am being ignored.
I want a refund, and believe I am entitled to this. I paid for a service I was not given.Desired Settlement: I want a full refund of all the money I paid to The Student Loan Project.

Review: I signed up for this loan consolidation/repayment service on 5/12/15. I spoke with several people at this company and set up the following payment schedule:
Initial set-up fee: $100 processed on 6/8
$999 1-time processing fee (broken up into 5 monthly payments of $179.80). I have made 2 payment, totaling $359.60, on 6/29 and 7/12.
Payments of $179.80 are also scheduled be processed on 7/26, 8/10, and 8/24
$39/month for a total of 300 months. I have, so far, been charged $39 on 6/15 and 7/12 (totaling $78)
Meanwhile, though they claimed to stop all wage garnishments, I have been garnished over $700 from my bi-weekly paychecks (My last 5 paychecks dating back to 5/15).
I have provided them with all documents they have requested from me but still nothing has been resolved and they do not answer not return phone calls. So, I am being charged by them for services which they are not providing on top of my wages being garnished. Needless to say this is causing me a great financial hardship, as well as, undeserved stress and anxiety over the situation. I need a resolution to the matter or, if they are unable to provide the services they promised, I need to be refunded the money they have already taken from me and we can end all future transactions.Desired Settlement: I would like them to refund the amount I have already paid them ($537.60, thus far) and to have all future transactions cancelled and to have no future dealings with this company.

Not very happy! Initially, they were very nice to reel you in. Once the process started, it was extremely hard to get a hold of anyone. I was supposedly assigned to an adviser. I left her three messages and no call back. I never received an email or call that my loan was complete. Thankfully, I looked on line to see if I owe anything (its due in 5 days), and my payment is triple the amount that I was quoted. With all their stupid fees of $40.00, I would be paying close to the amount I was paying with my previous federal lender. I think this was the worst experience I have ever had with any company. I would not recommend this business to my worst enemy.
I found this website through a simple google search of "drowning under student debt" and decided to call the (855) 383-3778 listed. I was directly connected to [redacted] who did more than an amazing job. When it comes to student debt, the simple thought triggers stress, anxiety and confusion in most people (myself included). I called [redacted] explained my situation without having done any research. He was extremely helpful, he jumped right into it, gave me a background on the program, gathered some basic information to give me range amounts for the payments and such. He then went ahead and setup another appointment with me for later that week so I could have time to get the necessary paperwork. What I appreciated the most with working with [redacted] was the fact that he kept an upbeat attitude throughout the entire call which made me feel like we could achieve something, like this would get fixed. He was jovial but serious and never misled me or gave me misinformation. If you have ever called a loan agency's office you feel like they are out to get your lunch money and your lunch talking to [redacted] was nothing like that. It seemed like he had my complete interest in mind, he was patient, supportive and helpful. I would recommend that anyone interested in this program talks directly to him (but again I can only imagine that most people that work there are like him).
In terms of the program itself, truthfully God sent! The options are feasible, being a finance person this is the best decision I have made to get myself out of debt.
Review: I went to the Student Loan Project to try to get my student down to a reasonable amount. They offered me a repayment plan that was much less than my current student loan payment. I payed an up front fee of $540 as a "processing fee" and have been paying $39 per month on the premise that they pay off my student loan and I pay them back for the next 25 years. Whatever is left after 25 years will be expunged from what I owe. Rather than owing the current $36,000 I would owe $11,000 and pay $39 per month, have my income checked every year to determine if my monthly payment would need to be upped or lowered.
This was three months ago. I paid a $540 fee up front as a processing fee and $39 for the past three months. My student loan company just called me today telling me I am 3 months behind, that my account has gone into collections, and that it is now going against my credit - which my husband and I worked three years to get back up to 700 so we can buy a house next year.... which we probably will not be able to do now.
I keep getting transferred to another person/department and no one actually calls me back. I have called multiple times.Desired Settlement: I would like to get my money back ($662.00) that I have paid to them.
I would like them to send a letter to my student loan company telling them that we had been paying them money to take care of this and they did not do what they were supposed to.
I want the Student Loan Project to be responsible for fixing my credit as it has been unknowingly to me been going against my credit for the past three months they have been stealing my money.
Please contact me directly if you have any questions or need to speak to me in person about this matter. Thank you for your time.

All the Team are amazing! If anyone in need to solving their Federal Student Loan under the Obama program, this is the agency to contact. Most important, friendly, supported.
[redacted] was very professional and very helpful. I will begin my repayment program sometime in the middle of April. This is completely due to the help of
[redacted].
excellent service from [redacted] and
This has been a great experience for me. Aside from the fact that I really needed help reducing my school loan debt, because of my economic situation, everyone that I have communicated with are friendly, easy to talk to, and message back right away when I have any questions. I could't ask for a better customer service experience. I definitely would recommend working with you guy to anyone I know, who is in a similar situation. Thanks, Eric
my time today was well worth it thanks again ,,
I'm very pleased with The Student Loan Project, it helped my husband, my daughter and myself stay on track financially. There's NO way we could ever repay all the student loans because of the outrages interest that's charged from the loan companies. The monthly payments would have exceeded our monthly income and we wouldn't have been able to make them, therefore causes stress and effecting our credit. The staff at The Student Loan Project have gone above and beyond and have been so helpful in explaining the process and they are handling all the paper worked need for the government. My thanks to them all, this was the best decision I've made!!!!!!
[redacted] was amazingly helpful. She was very knowledgeable about the Student Loan Project and was able to consolidate my loans very quickly. She walked me through all aspects of the consolidation process and answered all of my questions. Even though we worked together only via the phone lines, I felt as though she was holding my hand through the entire process - and I definitely needed hand holding!
Very helpful and pleasant to deal with and very knowledgeable of services.
Review: I worked with this company for a "loan forgiveness" program. They said they were part of the Department of Education, which they are not. I was 100% cooperative with them and gave them everything they needed, starting 5/19/15. I was told the process would be 90 days, it is past that. I have been getting calls from my current student loan provider and they know nothing of the loan consolidation. They made changes to my FSA ID, which I had to work hard to get back. I called for a refund today ($695 down payment and 3 months worth of $39 for a total of $812). I was transferred 4 times and finally spoke to someone who said his name was [redacted] (951-[redacted]) and said he was the president of the company with over 90 employees. Your site does not have his name and it does not show nearly that many employees. Where I stayed professional and polite the entire time, never accusing him of being a fraud or scam company, didn't raise my voice, he did not follow that same professionalism. He started the conversation saying refunding my money would not be an issue, but after insulting me multiple times he retracted and said it would depend on the contract and what his lawyers say. He said he sent me the contract, but I have not received it. He then insulted me for using verizon email and told me to check my spam. He told me my money didn't matter because he has a Ferrari, etc. I am appalled at the lack of professionalism for a "President" of the company. It was not my original intent to file a complaint if he had refunded me. But during the conversation he threatened me if I filed a complaint saying he couldn't wait to answer it because it would come to him. I had tried in good faith to resolve this calmly and professionally. He did not help me as a customer, or even try.Desired Settlement: I would like to have my full amount refunded in the amount of $812.00 which consists of the initial payment of $695 plus the next three months of their fees at $39 each that I have been charged.

Client was offered a refund per the terms of the contract. Furthermore, [redacted] is and owner of Student Loan Assistance Center, not not an employee of The Student Loan Project.

Response:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
I asked for a 100% refund and they only offered me a 40% refund. I asked for a copy of my contract and proof of the 60% work that they did and have not received anything from them. My current loan provider (Great Lakes) told me when they called to discuss my loan payments that nothing has been started for any consolidation or different type of loan repayments, nothing was in process.
I must say that Student Loan Project has helped me feel more confident about myself and the future of my finances. The person assigned to my case is always willing to help me out with a prompt and very patient manner whenever I have questions (and I have many). Understanding, patience and passion, I feel, are needed in order to build the sort of relationship that can built trust. On my account, I have had a very positive experience with Student Loan Project. I would recommend SLP to anyone having trouble paying their student loans or who wants to find an alternative in how you pay for your current student loans. Don't waist time and give them a call! It can't hurt. They are always willing to help you :) Good luck!
Review: In March of this year, I contacted the Student Loan Project and spoke to [redacted] about getting my loans into rehabilitation and consolidation. I was told by him that I would be charged a fee of $900 that would cover the removal of my garnishment (within 60 days), consolidation of my Nelnet loans, and rehabilitation of my other federal loans. I was assured that I would have a "case manager" that would keep in constant touch with me and let me know the status of my account......Once I signed all of the necessary papers and paid my $900 fee, I was unable to get in touch with him again. I called and e-mailed numerous times, with no success. I finally went to the website and tried to contact anyone from customer service through their message board. I sent about 9-10 messages and finally was contacted by a very rude woman named [redacted] who gave me a different number to call because she "couldn't help me". This number was 844-[redacted]. at this number, no one knew anything about my account and I was informed that I was not in their system. I found another number online 951-691[redacted] and reached a woman named ** who found me in the system and told me my papers were being processed. This was in April. I asked her about the garnishment and was told it would be removed within 2 weeks. I was given her direct number 9451-473-8119. Since then, I have called at least twice a week, every week leaving messages. No one has called or e-mailed me about my case. My garnishment (5 months later!) has still not been removed.
I, personally, have gone to the Department of Educations website and filled out all of the papers that were to be completed by The Student Loan Project.
I was promised by Mr. [redacted] that their customer service would handle everything, because that's what the $900 fee included. I was assured that this was going to be easy and stress free. I was also told there is a 100% satisfaction guarantee.Desired Settlement: I would like my money refunded because they did not do anything they promised. I've made many attempts to contact them via e-mail and phone messages, but as soon as they collected my money, they wouldn't respond. I've received NO correspondence from them about my case.
Not only is this horrible customer service, it's bad business practice.
They supposedly have a 100% money back guarantee. I'm not satisfied because they did absolutely nothing for me. I had to go online to get all of the forms I needed, fill them out myself, and send them in.

I recommend The Student Loan Project 100%! [redacted] called me and walked me thru the entire with respect and patience that I was on good hands. All of questions and concerns were answered, there was always someone there to walk thru all of the processes. I cant thank everyone enough! Student loans are not explained properly in my opinion and granted I should have paid more attention but there isnt alot of education out there and I found that I was too easy to sign up for school but a lack of communication when it came to loan information and what happens later.
Thank You The Student Loan Project folks, you are amazing!
[redacted] was wonderful. The experience was great and she did a great job explaining everything.
I had read about The Student Loan Project and decided just to give it a shot. I'm SO glad I did. [redacted] was very helpful and my payments dropped DRASTICALLY. I was not sure how I was going to make my payments as I was moving abroad to teach and I would only be getting paid once a month. The payments were going to take more than half of my paycheck and now I'll be able to save money so I can fly home to visit family! I'm very pleased with my experience!
I am a teacher in California and I think this program really helps those who want to be free from student loan debt. The process was very easy and quick. Representatives were very helpful.
