great customer service

The personnel was very friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. I appreciate all their help and thank them

Mr. [redacted] was very knowledgeable and understanding of the process using The Student Loan Project. He answered all my questions and was thoughtful in asking me questions. I appreciate his time and his patience during this difficult financial time.

Review: In November of 2015 I was inquiring about a loan consolidation program. I came across this company who calls themselves the Student Loan Forgiveness Program. They also used the name The Obama Student Loan Forgiveness Program which isn't a real program. After contacting this company, I was dealing with [redacted] who was very persistent on obtaining my business. He took all of my personal information along with my student loan information and pin number. He said he would have to change my pin in order to get the ball rolling. He then told me what the cost of the program would be. 750 dollars but if I acted that day, he could do it for 500. 100 down and 2 payments of 200 plus the 39 dollar monthly maintenance fee to consolidate my loans. He told me I wouldn't have to deal directly with the Department of Education because they were also a part of the Department of Education. The 39 dollars would go toward my monthly payment and if I didn't miss a payment for 10 years, my entire remaining loan balance would be forgiven. I paid the 100 dollar fee that day and gave my card information. I have not heard anything from the company. I tried contacting them but no luck with getting anyone to return my call. They have since withdrawn the full 500 dollars plus the 39 dollar per month fee. My loan is late because they haven't done anything. I spoke to my loan provider and told me that these companies are scams and that they are in no way affiliated with the Department of Education. The fact that I was lied to and no services were provided is the reason for this complaint. Not to mention the 578 dollars that they took from me. I want a full refund from this company.Desired Settlement: A full refund and for this company to be honest with people about what they really can and cannot do.

Review: I contacted student loan project to assist me in consolidating my student loans. The person whom assisted was very sincere regarding my situation. He informed that the cost of the program was either $545.00 plus $39.00 monthly fee. They were able to break the processing fee into 4 payments. On May 30 I made the first payment of $100.00 the next payment of $150.00 due on the 15th of the following month.Payment of $150.00 June 15th,July 17 $150.00 and I believe one last payment $145.00 on 8/17/2015.The total amount is $662.00 that includes the monthly fee.At the end of July I sent in my last three paychecks stubs to finish processing.I received a letter from department of education stating they were going to garnish my wages, I contacted [redacted] he assisted me getting into the program. He told me not to worry about it and he would take care of it from his end.I said alright and thanks. To my surprise they never got my paycheck stubs I couldn't fax them in because the number they provided me wouldn't go through. This has caused me to be dropped from their program.I did speak to the an employee by the name of [redacted] and I told her what had happened and she was going to talk to her boss and see if I could get a partial refund,This was 08/26/2015 about 5pm.She never returned my call. This morning is was able to talk to Distric Manager her name was [redacted] I believe and she informed me that they were only giving me $200.00 back.I said well what about the $39.00 monthly fee that I did pay well we are only giving you $200 which will be put back on your card in 3-4 business days. This organization is very very unprofessional in the way the do their business.Desired Settlement: I feel I am entitled to a full refund amount which is $662.00

SLP has reached out to the management team at The Student Loan Assistance Center (SLAC) requesting that they refund the client in full. The client should follow up with them at 844-[redacted]. These matter is considered closed with the Student Loan Project.

[redacted] could not have been more helpful. He was compassionate about my financial situation and informative about the programs that the student loan project had to offer. I will recommend this project to friends and family.

Review: I called StudentLoanProject.US and was warmly greeted by a woman who started telling me about the government program they ran. I asked the question several times if this was a government program, in different ways, and the answer was always affirmative and really close to yes, but not the word yes. which made me suspicious. I got the history of how the program was started by the a president, how it's been updated by [redacted], the whole thing. Finally I stopped her and asked yes or no, point blank. The answer was no. "Like H&R Block isn't the IRS" The problem here is that the government does provide this service for free. They got my SS#, logged into my account, took records of my loans under false pretenses. They are pretending to be the governments plan. If a student falls for this, they no longer qualify for the real government programs and the possible loan forgiveness.

They used falsely low income (she asked questions to figure out how to cheat, but I would have to pay penalty on this at tax time!) to lower my monthly payment. She dropped my income by a lot (gross vs net - 401k contributions and all taxes, which is NOT how that is calculated). Once I had signed up for this, I would not be eligible for the programs I am eligible for now. I am currently on IBR of over 700/month. THAT is how much she cheated. But I would get the penalty.

Here is the first part of the email, I asked them to destroy my info upon receiving it: IT WAS A PLEASURE SPEAKING WITH YOU. NOW WE ARE A PRIVATE DOCUMENT PROCESSING COMPANY. WE SUBMIT DOCUMENTATION DAILY TO THE DOE. WE DID 17000 CONSOLIDATIONS LAST YEAR. CONSOLIDATION TAKES 60-90 DAY. Now the program you Qualify for is the IBR repayment plan at 300 months in repayment at $184.31 a month. Included in your monthly payment is a $39 maintenance fee which covers your continued loan servicing, support, for the life of the loan or until you decide to opt out. Keep in Mind you MUST REAPPLY every ye ONE-TIME processing of $ 545.00...Desired Settlement: -Stop using language that leads people to believe you are the .gov program that provides the same service. Tell people you are a private company, not affiliated with the Dep of Ed

-Make it clear and prominent on the website that you are not a government program.

-Provide the guidelines for evaluation for the repayment programs that you are offering people. For example "You qualify for the IBR Program. Your eligibility was determined by your income vs 150% of the poverty level. This is matched against your tax information when you file)

-Make it clear what the penalties are for lying on the form to qualify for IBR

-Make it clear that you are not the loan provider, that someone will still get stuck with [redacted] or [redacted], or whomever. You are just filing out the paperwork, online

-Provide a summary of how much the service you are providing will cost the individual ($39 was presented as the fee, not monthly. the $545 needing to be paid in 60 days was not mentioned.

Although we were unable to find Mrs. [redacted] in our client database, please be advised that the The Student Loan Project is a Marketing and Pre- Qualification company only. Our Enrollment Advisors are trained and directed to be upfront and honest with all clients seeking assistance with their student loans, and by no means should any of them state or insinuate that we are affiliated with the DOE or the Government. We have discussed this concern with this employee to make sure it doesn't happen again. We apologize sincerely for any miscommunication. If you have further questions please contact our management team at 858-[redacted]

Review: On Tuesday, August 18, 2015 I contacted Student Loan Project and a representative assisted me with signing up with their amazing program. In this process, I e-signed forms which I never received copies of and when I asked for these documents, I was told that they were attached to an email. The representative has since ignored my requests and in my last email I copied the US Department of Education. I emailed a cancellation of my involvement in their program as this company and its practices are raising too many red flags for me. I have also cancelled scheduled payments on a credit card, but have not received any formal cancellations from this company. I would have stayed with this organization, but they were unwilling to provide me with information or answer my questions, especially in writing. This company does have my SS# and I am regretting my decision.Desired Settlement: I would like the following:

--Copies of the forms I electronically signed on August 18, 2015

--Correspondence confirming that my enrollment/relationship with SLP is cancelled

--Correspondence confirming my scheduled payments have been cancelled

Regards,

I was very pleased working with [redacted],she made everything very easy to understand. And was very personable. Thank you again!

As many students experiencing loan debt I wanted to save money and that's not what happened when going through this unprofessional company. Instead, I paid them around $400 upfront and they put my loan on forbearance for three months while it accrued interest and they were charging me an extra $39 for servicing my account.

The thing the irritated me is that the employee who I gave my information to purposely failed to put my correct yearly income on file and gave me a bogus low monthly payment (which I thought was incredible). Turns out after trying to see what the status of my loan was they asked me again to show proof of income, something that I submitted to them several months prior. After I told them my income they stated that I told them a lower number when I began the process (mind you I emailed my pay stubs and tax information as proof prior). Several weeks pass and by this time I am receiving emails from my previous loan company telling me I am past due on my payment. I naturally freaked out and reached out to this company that is supposed to have taken care of all this crap (they had 3 months to figure this out and I was paying them $39 mos servicing fee for their service). I finally spoke to an agent there and she told me what my monthly payment was which was more than I was initially paying and with a little higher interest. I was furious! I said to the agent: so what you're telling me is that I paid your company a $400 processing plus $39 dollars a month to mess all my paperwork up and leave me in limbo? And you're telling me that you guys are charging me $39 a month to handle my account by going to my pre existing loan company's website and making payments on my behalf, something I was already freaking doing on my own before I reached out to you scam artists? She simply said, "yeah." Wow! I told these guys to cancel EVERYTHING and to not handle my account. She said all is cancelled immediately and they will not be providing their service... and I still have not received any confirmation letter stating this. I will be contacting my bank to notify them to not let these clowns withdraw money from my account moving forward. I contacted my previous loan company and told them that I want to stick with them and continue with the plan I had with them (which was a lower interest rate too).

I am sorry but this company is incompetent and will have a representative tell you whatever they need to in order to swindle you. I am glad I stopped after 3 months even though I lost out on money. Live and learn. If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Student loan companies are money making machines and should be charging extremely low interest on educational loans.

I am sure there will be a representative from this company company commenting on my review and telling you guys that their program may not be for everyone. Thanks for keeping that information from me after you lame folks took my money. You guys are a bunch of jokes and should be ashamed. I am not a happy camper.

The Student Loan project staff are very helpful. They respond in a timely manner and are knowledgeable. Their assistance has significantly reduced the amount of student loans I have to pay back. They have not left me after the initial set up, whenever I call with a question the staff provide helpful information and what I should expect as far as next steps. Very thankful I was referred to them.

I have already started to refer family and friends to them.

[redacted] started the process for me and has been very nice throughout. My process is not fully complete, but someone has been in contact with me every step of the way.

[redacted] with slacing not only helped me to consolidate student loans and become part of the forgiveness program but lowered my payments by 403.00 a month but after 300 payments I will be forgiven for the rest-148,000.00. She has been a lifesaver and I can't thank her for her kindness, help, and understanding as well as the hour spent on the phone to get this completed.

Very nice people to work with. They take care of your student loans for you.

My experience was so easy and helpful. My original loan payment was over $800 dollars a month and they had it lowered to $140. They also enrolled me in the forgiveness program. Everything was done in a matter of minutes and they handled all of the fine details for me. They made such a stressful situation absolutely painless. I would recommend them to anyone.

Something very sketchy. They emphasized monthly payments, not interest rates. When I asked for more information, I was transferred to a manager who tried to sell me a different loan. When I again asked for more details he seemed annoyed and said he'd only send a contract with those details he knew I was going to sign it. That's not good business practice. I called again asking for more information on the first payment plan (total amount of loan, early payoff options, how the monthly payments change if my income gows up) and I was emailed links to advertisements.

This company is a SCAM. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION!!!!!!! They are only offering a consolidation service, that they may or may not go through with. Honest companies NEVER ask you for money up front. This company offered to save me approximately $1800, but wanted $500 up front, and approximately $40 a month for the NEXT 25 YEARS. All for a consolidation service that would be done correctly and for free by the Department of Education or your personal loan companies. There is no "other" paperwork. The IBR plan on your federal loans is available through the loan itself. This gives you a 20-25 year payment plan at a cost according to your income, and after the period ends, you may or may not qualify for loan forgiveness.

The person I spoke with gave me a lot of incorrect information regarding my eligibility and loans. He claimed I was able to do certain things which ended up being completely untrue. Had I gone to the source and applied for a WILLIAM FORD DIRECT LOAN PROGRAM and consolidated on the federal website, and addressed it with the proper channels, I could have easily done the same thing, and most importantly, FOR FREE.

Do not trust this company. They are not "helping you". Why would you pay this much to a company if you could just pay it directly to your loan?

The staff at Student Loan Project (SLAC, Inc.) have been very helpful to me. I to anyone who is struggling to pay their student loans to give them a chance. They will do their best to help you and quickly too!
