Review: I spoke with [redacted] On 8-31-15 in regards to consolidating and making my student loans more affordable and easier to pay. He convinced me that if I sign up with the student loan project that if I pay approximately 12,000 to them plus $495 handling fee, that the remaining balance of my student loans would be forgiven (Approximately 44,000). I told him that my loans were due now and that If I did not do something by the 15th of September, they would start to default. He assured me that they would take care of that and that paperwork would be submitted immediately and things would be final within 30 to 60 days as far as them paying off my student loans and transferring them to this company. He said that he would have to have a payment of $160 upfront to get things moving then another one on 9-22-15 and then final one at the end of the month. On 9-21-15 I contacted the Dept of Student Loans and my current loan company AES to see if any paperwork had been submitted or anything had been done that [redacted] promised would be done. They both stated nothing had been done. I then requested from [redacted] a refund of the $160 for failure to do what we agreed on and I cancelled my debit card so that he could not charge me the remaining balance of the $495 fee. He refused to do so and he refused to answer any of my emailed requests. He kept saying that in an email I needed to call him. I told him that I did not need to call him for him to give me a yes or no if they will refund my $160 or not. He refused to answer my emails or refund my $160. I also think that people need to be made aware of this scam.Desired Settlement: I would like my money refunded because they did not do as they promised.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Student Loan Project did refund only 60% which ended up being $99 dollars a few days ago. The reasons that I am still not satisfied are listed below:1) This business only reached out to me only after I made this complaint with the Revdex.com of San Diego. Had I not made a complaint, they would of continued to ignore my requests for a full refund when I became aware that they had not done what they promised me. 2) [redacted] spoke with me on the phone and listened to why I had made the complaint to the Revdex.com. She then insisted that it was my fault that I did not respond to an email that I never received. When I told her I did not receive the email and that it was not in my spam, nor did anyone from her company try to contact me trying to follow up or obtain this information requested in this mystery email, she still insisted that I had to have received it and that her employees had done nothing wrong.

I had a great experience with The Student Loan Project. I have all ready recommend it to my friends.

I worked with Tifani from Student Loan Project and had a great experience. She explained everything very thoroughly to my husband and I so we felt comfortable with our decision. We feel very happy with our new monthly payment and will have significant savings going forward.

[redacted] was absolutely fantastic. Answered every single question that I had and put me at ease when trying to figure out how it all worked. Very knowledgeable and helpful, but extremely friendly as well.

Review: DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION! I spoke with [redacted] and made the mistake of initially signing up with SLP. After reading through their terms of agreements, which states you have 5 days to cancel, I decided their service was not something I wanted to pursue. No time in our conversation or in the terms of agreements was I told that their would be a monthly service fee OR that [redacted] would use my personal information to create an FSAID username and password and NOT GIVE IT TO ME. She made up a fake email and challenge questions in order to access my loan information and will not give me the information. Therefore, I am unable to access the website and my loan information.

Only after I disputed charges with my credit card company did a [redacted] Snyder contact me to let me know my account had been cancelled. I have tried contacting [redacted] and a [redacted] to get my FSAID information and no one will answer my emails or my calls.

I contacted FSAID and they are seeking to prosecute, as this is not the first time this has happened. I will be reporting them to the appropriate legal and business channels. I suggest you save yourself the potential for identity theft and do business elsewhere. I also suggest you report them as well.Desired Settlement: FSAID username and password provided to me by SLP.

Hello,

Review: This Company is a scam, they tell you they are going to lower your Student loan and just take your moneey. I only lost 150.00 before I realized what was going on. They expect you to pay 500.00 up front and 40.00 every month on top of the loan payment. I compained to them and they gave me another loan compnay to call telling me it was the account servive department.Desired Settlement: Close them down and I want my 150.00 back they are taking advantage of people.

To whom this may concern,

[redacted] and the team at The Student Loan Project were excellent and very helpful. I am very likely to recommend them to a friend.

Review: I signed a contract with the Student Loan Project (Student Loan Services) on April 14, 2015 for services to include: consolidation of student loans at a lower interest rate. In keeping with this agreement, I was required to pay a start-up service fee of $445 and then a continued monthly service fee of $39. It has been four months and I have not received the agreed upon services. I contacted my previous loan provider and they informed me that my loans were never consolidated and are still active with them. I sent Student Loan Services a request to refund me the $445 and the $39 I paid each month since the signing of the contract. (June 5, July 10, August 10). This comes to $117 with the total overall refund request being $562.Desired Settlement: I would like the Revdex.com to assist me in collecting this refund, have the contract revoked and cancelled, and to file a formal complaint against Student Loan Services for their negligence, poor service, and breech of contract. If you need any more information from me, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you.

Client was refunded in full.

Monday morning, 3/23/15 I decided to see if I could get relief with my "overwhelming" school loan debt. I Googled , "Obama Student Loan Forgiveness", and placed a call and was directed to The Student Loan Services.

Already STRESSED!!!, I didn't know what to expect but on the other end of the phone was a very nice, soft spoken yet engaging person named [redacted]. At first the reception was poor, so she called me back and reception was clear. I cannot say enough about how helpful and detail she was in assisting me with my problem. She walked me through the enrollment steps by explaining every paragraph as I came upon them in reading before signing. She didn't rush me but guided me effortlessly. She gained my trust. I hope that her Boss(s) know what a gem they have working for them. I picked up my phone stressed but hung up the phone after corresponding with [redacted], very happy and relieved.

I RATE [redacted] A+A+A+A+A+ Please acknowledge her and give her RECOGNITION!!!

Review: This company misrepresented itself to me. The company gave me conflicting information between the staff. The made claims that they could not keep. They falsified documents that they gave to me to sign. I tried several times to find out where they got the fraudulent information, but it was never resolved. I asked for a Loan Forgiveness Program and they told me that my loan would be forgiven. At first I was told if I paid $39 for 10 years my loans would be forgiven. Then afterwards the next person said, "the $39 goes to our company as a fee, your loans will be Zero. They told me that I needed to pay a downpayment, first, I agreed that I would pay the downpayment, but the $39 wasnt to start until after the papers were signed. I never signed the loan documents because of the fraudulent info that was included in it, which I have in writing. I asked them to return the money they paid me, and then the phone calls stopped. I am concerned that others will be taken advantaged of by this company. It appears that they are actually just into the business of consolidating loans, and I never asked for a loan consolidation. I have a loan I have been paying on for 20 years, and I work in Public Service, and I was asking to have it paid off. They told me that they would combine it with the newer loan, and they both would be paid off. But the next person that I spoke to (4) in total, told me that "there were no guarantees that my loan would be paid off. They completed the loan papers with an address where I never lived. They had the name of a contact whom I never heard of. They had my work info, income, and other info, completely falsified. I never gave them that information. Then they emailed me, discussing the"documents that you signed." I emailed back, that I never signed anything, as the paperwork did not even have my correct home address. Later they looked me up somehow and found my correct address. I am still interested in Loan forgiveness.Desired Settlement: I would like to have my funds back as they did not provide a service for me. I am still looking for a Loan Forgiveness program, but I need someone who is reputable, and I need their forms and documents to state in writing what they state to me on the phone and email.

We have refunded this client in full, terminated the employee she was working with, and have an appointment for one of our managers to assist with her student loans.

I have been trying to get this $39 monthly fee stopped and they told me they cant do it. I will probably have my bank stop payment. This has been a horrible experience. I tried to lof into my acct to pay the bill and they are telling me my username and pw is not valid. This was assigned to me through this co. I thought they contact you and work with you, THEY DO NOT. My payments are 4 mths behind and I have not heard anything from them. I would rather give the $39 towards my loan than this company.

Very friendly and informative

I decided randomly to look into Student Loan forgiveness plans and found the number to call The Student Loan Project. I figured a phone call couldn't hurt to see if I would qualify, and two hours later I was signing paperwork because all of my Federal Loans were forgiven through this company! (Almost $90,000!)

I had amazing help from the staff member, [redacted]., who I was contacted with, and am still getting great help from him through email when I have questions about my account. He is very quick and attentive to all of my questions and never once makes me feel unsure about what is happening with my account.

I'm so glad that I made the random decision to call this company, and I have been giving out not only the company information but also [redacted]'s email and phone number to my friends and family who are interested in seeing if they would qualify for student loan forgiveness as well.

Thank you!

Customer service was excellent and I was put into a program that lowered my payment toward my student loan and offered me forgiveness after so many payments. Love this company.

Wonderful organization. Very friendly. They walk you through the process.

Tifani was such a great help! She explained everything to us and was able to answer all of our questions! I had a very positive experience with her!

[redacted] was very thorough and took his time explaining everything to me. I have already told some close friends and relatives about my experience so he should be getting my referrals soon.

I have experienced the best work from your company and my consultant Mr. Lamont Lloyd. He has worked with me every step of the way. I can depend on him to answer my questions in a timely fashion and if he does not no the answer to something he finds it out for me.

Review: On Thursday, August 27, 2015 I contacted The Student Loan Project and corresponded with a representative ([redacted]). [redacted] eagerly assisted me with the information regarding the program and promised to send forms to be e-signed, once I provided her with employer information, personal references, credit card information and my Driver License number. Unfortunately and regrettably, due to her persistence, I provided this information prior to completing my research. Upon learning about previous complaints and speaking with a representative at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, I emailed [redacted] and told her I was no longer interested in the program. I also alerted my bank. Needless to say, [redacted] did not respond to my email nor have I received a formal cancellation email or form.Desired Settlement: I would like the following: 1) Written correspondence confirming my scheduled payments have been cancelled 2) And, written correspondence stating that my SS#, CC# nor my DL# will be used by this company for any purpose.

Response:

SLP has emails reflecting that Mrs. [redacted] emailed [redacted] at 1:49 PM on 8-27-2015 with her request. [redacted] replied 20 minutes later (at 2:09 PM) complying with Mrs. [redacted]'s request. Furthermore, SLP is a 100% legitimate company who has helped thousands of people with their student loans. That said, all statements made by Mrs. [redacted] are completely false and our company will not be subject to this type of slander. We are respectfully requesting Mrs. [redacted] withdraw her complaint with the Revdex.com and the CFPB immediately.
