ThingCHARGER Inc. Reviews (561)

Review: I felt deceived. I ordered a thingCHARGE and was expecting it in the mail. A month later and I had not heard anything I tried to contact the business. I found I could only send an email. I got an automatic response basically stating that they would send it when they have enough ordered and it has been tested and approved for production. They have taken my money and I question if I will ever get the product. I don't know if this is a legitimate business or if I have been scammed. Any information from you would be appreciated. This was advertised on [redacted].Desired Settlement: I would like to know if this is a legitimate business and if I will ever receive the product I ordered or get a refund if that the product will never be delivered.

Response:

The business has responded. Please see below:We regret that the individual felt they received an automated response. Here at thingCHARGER each email receives a detailed response from one of our team members based here in the US. We do not use any automated responses at thingCHARGER and take pride that each email is answered individually by one of our team members. Our team member who answered the email read the request and promptly replied with a detailed response. We believe that the best customer service gives each person a prompt and detailed answer. To provide exceptional care that is timely we have team members working from the East Coast to the West Coast. This allows us to respond to the majority of inquiries within an hour. After hearing about the individual’s concern one of our team members contacted her by phone and made sure all of her questions were answered. By the end of the conversation, the customer expressed that she was delighted.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

Sincerely,

Review: I purchased the thingCharger on November**, 2015 and have not received them yet. I called them on December **, 2015 to talk about when the items would be sent. Unfortunately no one answered the phone, so I had to leave a message. It's been over a week now and no one has returned the call. I have paid them via my [redacted] Card $119.70 for 3 of these items plus 1 free one. That was their deal ... buy 3 get 1 free. Thought it sounded good and would make nice Christmas gifts. Guess that isn't going to happen now that's it December [redacted]. Please advise if there is anything you folks can do to get me either the product or a complete refund ... the complete refund would be my #1 choice at this point.Desired Settlement: REFUND of $119.70 + the flat rate shipping they charged of $7.95 for a total REFUND of $127.65.

Response:

I'm so sorry you did not hear back from us. We would love to make this up to you and request that you contact us directly at [redacted] We truly THANK YOU for your enthusiasm for thingCHARGER. Hopefully I can clear this up for you. thingCHARGER is still a crowdfunding campaign. It seems that perhaps you did not realize this, and we apologize. I would love to make this right. Of course, we will work with you to fix this immediately. I'd love to give you some more information: WHEN WILL YOU SHIP TO ME? We have shipped to nearly 20,000 supporters at this time. We expect to ship to you early in the New Year and we will have special deals available to you at that point. WHAT IS CROWDFUNDING? In case you are unfamiliar with crowdfunding, it is a new type of start-up platform where inventors launch a new product and interact in special ways with supporters. That is the reason that we charge your card now. With all crowdfunding campaigns, there is a gap between when you pay for your items and when you receive them. The “crowd” helps “fund” this start-up and gets Special Deals in return as a thank you from our new company. We have a wonderful supporter base. You are all like family to us here at thingCHARGER. You can read more about crowdfunding online, in places such as Wikipedia. It has grown more and more popular over the years with many new companies being launched this way. Of course, if this presents a problem for you, please let us know and we will work to get this resolved for you right away.

Response:

We are happy to offer a refund to this individual and are sincerely sorry that they were unable to reach us. As a small crowdfunded start up we do yet have a full-time telephone support system, we do offer strong email support and a voicemail line where we try to return calls as quickly as possible. Like many companies, we experienced incredibly heavy traffic during the holidays and were not able to respond as quickly as we would have liked. We are very sorry. We ask that our contributors contact us via email ([redacted]) and make every effort to support their needs. Because crowdfunding uses the funds collected from our amazing supporters to create, manufacture, and ship our products to our supporters, there is often a long delay between the receipt of funds and the shipment of packages. This can feel like a problem to individuals who are unfamiliar with crowdfunding, but it is a normal part of the process. We are terribly sorry that in this case that lag time caused concern. In this case we have reached out to the individual to offer a refund and they have agreed. We will process their refund immediately.

Review: On September ** 2015 I purchased a thingCharger.Paid with my [redacted]. To date have not received product and have had no luck with reaching company.Desired Settlement: Request a total refund of 47.85 in US funds on my master card. Thank you

Business

Response:

This individual contacted us regarding their contribution on same day that they filed a complaint with the Revdex.com. We have arranged, with their permission, to ship their package immediately. We normally expect that supporters that contributed to our campaign some time ago fully aware of our crowdfunding status, but occassionally they are not. We are very sorry that this individual was not. With crowdfunding, many people contribute a small amount of money toward a great idea. The inventors take that money and turn it into a fantastic product, which we can then ship to the amazing people who supported us. We are so excited to be a successful crowdfunding campaign that is shipping as quickly as we can to our earliest supporters. We are shipping in the order in which we received contributions to honor our earliest supporters for the patience and their incredible support. When we learned that this individual was unaware of our crowdfunding status, we worked to try to resolve this and appear to have been successful! They completed their shipping confirmation process this morning and their package will be shipped right away.

Review: I placed an order in November 2015 and have not received anything yet, no communication, no explanation, nothing.Desired Settlement: I just want them to fill my order by shipping the thing chargers to me as they were paid for.

Business

Response:

We would love to ship to this person right away and have contacted them to confirm their shipping address at this time. We are excited to get them their thingCHARGERs.We are so sorry for the confusion and delay. It sounds as if this individual may not have realized that thingCHARGER is a crowdfunding campaign that has reached the shipping stage. In crowdfunding, an inventor comes up with a cool idea. They take that idea to the internet. There, many people each contribute a small amount of money towards turning that idea into a reality. The inventor takes that money and uses it to create and manufacture the product. Then they ship it back out to all the people who supported them. [redacted] and [redacted] started thingCHARGER back in 2013 as an idea in their basement and we started started shipping at the end of 2015. This process, and the time that it takes, are part of why there has been a delay in shipping your items and why the final checkout process feels so different. We finished shipping to our 2013 and 2014 contributors at the end of January and are working our way through our 2015 supporters now. We are trying hard to ship to our contributors in the order that they supported us, in honor of their patience. That final checkout looks so different because it was designed for our earliest supporters. It is a place that allows them to add on some of the upgrades and types of tips that we developed, at their suggestion, during the two years that we have been working on making this idea into a reality. Additionally, during that development time period, many people have moved, so we ask our supporters to confirm their current shipping information. We hope to confirm this individual's shipping address right away and get their thingCHARGERs to them. We know they'll love them.

Review: I ordered two thingchargers (get one free) from Thingcharger in October. My credit card was charged on 10/**/2015 for $127.65.

I contacted Thingcharger on March *, 2016 notifying them I had paid for items but had not received them. I provided them with payment info and my shipping address.

Lauren M from Social Relations at Thingcharger responded to my email later that day. She provided a link which took me to a site to order more product.

I responded to Lauren's email on March * advising her I didn't want to order I wanted my paid for products!

No response.

We are so grateful that we were able to speak with this individual on the phone. We have confirmed their shipping information and their thingCHARGERs are on the way!We are sorry that the address confirmation process was confusing and that we did not get back in touch with them quickly enough to answer their questions about it. That process looks so different because it was designed for our earliest supporters. It is a place that allows them to add on some of the upgrades and types of tips that we developed, at their suggestion, during the two years that we have been working on making this idea into a reality. Additionally, during that development time period, many people have moved, so we ask our supporters to confirm their current shipping information. We are sincerely sorry that none of this was explained clearly. We will continue to work with our team to improve communication with our supporters and make sure that they are explaining the process, and why it looks so different, in cases like this. And as we begin to catch up to shipping to our newest supporters we will be looking into better ways to allow them to confirm their shipping information when needed. We are so excited that this individual will have their thingCHARGERs very soon. We know that they'll love the high quality and beautiful design, as well as the convenience of cord-free charging.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

They contacted me by telephone on March [redacted] confirmed my shipping address, and have promised to send my thingchargers to me. My complaint won't be resolved until I receive my products. The reasons given for the delay do not justify the five months that have passed since the order was placed and paid for. The company had all the info they needed to resolve my issue (shipping address, what I wanted, date of payment) when I contacted them by mail on March [redacted] Thank you Revdex.com for making me aware of the number of complaints about this company and for intervening![redacted]

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Sincerely,

We paid for this product, based on advertising on [redacted] that made it appear that this product was already available, only to find out after not receiving it for several months that this was a "crowdsourcing" campaign. They could not offer a shipment date for the product that was already paid for by claiming that they were in production, only to find them available at [redacted] and [redacted] in December. I did request a refund. First, they offered an "upgrade," which was a ridiculous offer of a charger with "surge protection"-- no thanks-- and ultimately did provide the refund. But even if this was a crowdsourcing campaign, a company should provide the product to their funders first, not to [redacted]. Dishonest and irresponsible.

I paid on stripe.com for 5 units and never received the Chargers. I can't get in touch with anyone. On their website to see what is the problem . We paid exactly what they asked for 5 chargers. It has been over a month. No text or email.

Review: December **, 2015 I ordered a thingCharger on their website. I did not receive it, inquired by email when my order would ship. I was told that actually I did not place an order, but contributed to their "crowdfunding". There was no where on their website where it stated they had a "crowdfund" going. I was told that my thingCharger was shipping, if I paid $3.43 It did not ship. I should not have given them the $3.43 more. I see many other people complaining about their delivery. It appears to be a racket, and they are not a legitimate company. I just want my money back. $47.85 plus the $3.43 = $51.28.Desired Settlement: I just want my money back. $47.85 plus the $3.43 = $51.28.

Business

Response:

We try to make our crowdfunding status clear to potential contributors and we are very sorry that it evidently was not clear to this individual. That status is expressly stated in a number of places throughout our advertising and contribution pages, but we apologize that in this case it was unclear. We acted as quickly as we could to meet this individual's expectations and our records show that their thingCHARGER has been delivered. We never alter our contributors selections without their express permission and we remain committed to asking only for our actual cost for shipping – we do not profit from shipping fees. We have reached out to this individual to clarify the charges that they may have seen prior to shipping and hope that they will contact us directly with any further concerns.

Review: On 1/*/2016 I ordered a ThingCharger online from ThingCharger.com. To date (2/*/2016) I have not received my order. I contacted ThingCharger by email and they apologized and sent me a link to input my credit card again. On 1/* they already deducted $47.85 from my bank account. When I clicked on the link I see there are many "tips" that are not included with the ThingCharger and I was being offered to purchase them. When I got to the checkout I was asked for a Verification Code which they said they had texted to my phone. I did not receive the Verification Code and replied by email. I have not heard back from them.Desired Settlement: I just want my money refunded. I do not want to purchase from such a company.

Response:

We are very sorry for the frustration that this individual experienced. It seems that they may not have been aware when they selected their perk package that thingCHARGER is still a crowdfunding campaign. With crowdfunding, an inventor takes a good idea to the internet. There, many people contribute a small amount of money towards making that idea into a reality. The inventor then takes that money and uses it to create, manufacture, and ship the product. When the product is ready, it is then shipped out to all the people who supported its creation, as a thank-you gift.Because of that process, there is usually a lag between when contributions are received and when perk packages are shipped. This can feel frustrating, but it is a normal part of crowdfunding. llThis individual contacted us this Sunday, February [redacted]. When we became aware that this individual had not been aware of our crowdfunding status, we attempted to meet their expectations and ship to them. Because we are a crowdfunding campaign that began in 2013, many of our supporters have asked that we include a place for them to add any upgrades or additional tips that they might want, but that were not available when they first contributed. We do this just before shipping, at the same time as we confirm their shipping address and preferences. This individuals package contained the correct tips to charge Android and newer [redacted] devices. We have one additional tip available at this time, which supporters can add to their package for older [redacted] devices. We do not include these automatically as most supporters have moved to newer devices. However, we do like to make them available. Unfortunately this individual encountered some difficulty while completing this process and when we attempted to resolve the issue with them, did not respond to us. At that point, they filed this complaint. While we would have been happy to assist them further with the final checkout process or help them to confirm their shipping information in another way, we are going to honor the request that they have made for a refund. We have started that refund process and emailed the individual to notify them. Again, we are sorry that they experienced frustration and are going to offer them the solution that works best for them.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter will be resolved once I receive my refund. I will advise you when I receive my refund.

Sincerely,

Review: I purchased their product in the spring of this year with an anticipated delivery of September of this year. After no fulfillment of this order I requested a refund. They issued the refund on 11/*/15 and said it could take up to 48 hours. Six days later I was told it could take up to 10 days. It has now been 13 days. This purchase was 317.00 and I am concerned I will never receive this refund . Also, I updated my address with them twice which they still do not acknowledge in our communications. That in itself could pose a problem in issuing a refund.Desired Settlement: Receipt of electronic refund to card used for purchase with updated billing address of [redacted]

Business

Response:

On the [redacted] of August an address update was requested and we responded on the [redacted] of August with a confirmation that their address was updated in our system. We also upgraded all of their units to include surge protection for FREE. On the [redacted] of October a refund request was submitted and we processed the refund on the following day. While we process refund requests - and send a confirmation that we have performed a refund in our system - within 48 hours it may take up to 10 days for the refund to appear on the credit card used for payment. Once we learned that the refund had not appeared on their bank statement within the 10 days we contacted the credit card processing company to find out why this has not appeared on their bank statement. Our team is dedicated to taking care of all of our supporters, both past and present. Our Operations Manager is working directly with this individual to make sure these funds get back to them.

At the time of this transaction thingCHARGER was still a crowdfunding campaign. With all crowdfunding campaigns, there is a gap between when you pay for your items and when you receive them. The “crowd” helps “fund” this start-up and gets Special Deals in return as a thank you from our new company. In the second week of December we were ready to ship these items and asked the individual to re-confirm their package and shipping details. At this time both Standard and Expedited shipping was available.

Review: I ordered a product from this company 30 days ago on Nov [redacted], 2015 and was charged on my credit card. I have still not received this product and even after sending 2 emails and leaving 2 voice messages they are still not providing me with the information when my order will be sent. I have already contacted my credit card company and opened a dispute.Desired Settlement: I have requested that the Vendor provide a full refund and confirm this through email but still no response.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], unfortunately the vendor did not provide you with all of the details related to this transaction. I find that this resolution of issuing the credit to my credit card is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved. I would strongly suggest that the Revdex.com look further into this businesses practices as there have been many other complaints from other consumers regarding the same practice of taking money for a product which they cannot provide and doing so without proper notice. Thank You.

Sincerely,

Review: I purchased a Thing Charger online and never received the product. When I emailed the company to find out when the product would be shipped I was told the money I paid went to a campaign fund to get the product launched and a Thing Charger would be shipped once the funding was complete. That was seven months ago and I have never received the product.Desired Settlement: I know the product has been made based on the complaints I read on your site. I would like my purchase shipped to me.

Response:

We are happy to ship to this individual. We've sent a brief email asking them to confirm their shipping address and as soon as we get that verified we will get their thingCHARGER headed their way.In honor of their patience and trust, we have been shipping to our supporters in the order in which they supported our crowdfunding campaign. We began shipping thingCHARGERs to our earliest crowdfunding supporters at the end of 2015 and wrapped up fulfillment of our 2013 and 2014 supporters at the end of January. We are working our way through our 2015 supporters quickly and are happy to help this individual get their thingCHARGER right away. We know that they will love the way they turned out - beautiful and top quality.

Review: I ordered 4 of the thingChargers and have not heard anything regarding the deliver or expected delivery of the items. I contacted the firm and received a canned response with no delivery information.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund if the product can not be delivered.

Business

Response:

We are concerned that this individual did not receive our email responses to their questions. We have attempted to reach out to them via both phone and email and will continue to do so. We encourage our supporters to email us at [redacted]Because crowdfunding uses the funds collected from our amazing supporters to create, manufacture, and ship our products to our supporters, there is often a long delay between the receipt of funds and the shipment of packages. This can feel like a problem to individuals who are unfamiliar with crowdfunding, but it is a normal part of the process. We have reached out to this individual to try to confirm their address prior to shipping. We look forward to hearing back from them as soon as possible.

Review: Ordered the product based on the youtube video. Nowhere on this video does it say you are contributing to a Crowdfunding Campaign. If you ask me it's a total scam. ordered on 12/**/15 still waiting for delivery. Emailed to [redacted] for a refund of $127.65 only to be given another link asking for more money on the same product I've already purchased. Sat through another video sales pitch about upgrades and still can't get any answers from their so called Customer Service Department as to a timely delivery.Desired Settlement: At this point I'd like a refund. I've decided it's not worth the money and feel I've been deceived.

We try to make our crowdfunding status clear and it is both listed and referenced in a variety of places in our videos and on our website, but we are very sorry that, in this case, that was missed. With crowdfunding, many people contribute a small amount of money to a great idea. The inventors take that money and turn it into a fantastic product, which we can then ship to the amazing people who supported us. Because crowdfunding uses the funds collected from our contributors to create, manufacture, and ship our products to our supporters, there is often a delay between the receipt of funds and the shipment of packages. This individual reached out to us on January [redacted] and we responded the same day. All we truly ask at this step is that our supporters confirm their shipping information, this individual did not contact us with their frustration with this process, so we were unable to assist them with this step. On January [redacted], at their request, we have refunded their contribution and emailed them to let them know that we were doing so. We encourage them to reach out to us with any further questions.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved. My funds have been deposited back to my Bank Account. I have only one issue with their reply......ThingCharger said I didn't try to contact them regarding the matter before I contacted the Revdex.com. I tried for two days to get someone from their Customer Service to ANSWER THE PHONE. I left at least three voice mails. I also contacted Thing Charger through the email address listed on there webpage and received an auto no reply email back, asking me to click the link that took me to a new video asking me to upgrade and pay more for something I had already purchased. Very poor marketing, and customer service.

Sincerely,

Review: On September **, 2015 I ordered the choose 3 get one free option from this company. I haven't received it as of today. I filed a complaint with [redacted] and "thinkCharger claims I need to go to another web site and only then will I receive my shipment. I've reviewed my [redacted] information and it clearly states my shipping address. On December **, 2015, I received an email saying that I need to go to the secondary website and fill out my address which they already have. I just escalated this to a claim with [redacted] but I wanted to file a complaint her so everyone knows that this company is not operating in a consumer friendly manor. I went to their site on December [redacted] and found out that this is just another sales website trying to upset you to a more premium device. I just wanted my original device. I didn't complete the page and am now requisition a "FULL REFUND" from this company.,Desired Settlement: Please have the company, "thingCHARGER" refund my entire purchase price of $127.65 as soon as possible. Nothing less than a full refund will be acceptable. They waited until December [redacted] to acknowledge that they had my money and didn't ship the product. They had payment in full for three months. Now they're trying to up-sell me on a different device.
