ThingCHARGER Inc. Reviews (561)

Not only do they not make it clear that it is a crowdfunding site but I bought 3 and got a forth one free but the 4th one did not come with an apple tip, so after being totally ripped off it cost me $15 with shipping and handling to make the 4th charger worthwhile.

I am so upset with being sucked in by these people. It is not just the money.

Do not do business with them they are complete and total rip off artists and make themselves sound so friendly and cutting edge.

Review: I placed an order directly from the companies website on 12/*/2015 for the thing charger. Their website does not mention anywhere that the items for sale are a crowdfunding program. I entered all the required information for shipping and credit card for payment. I was quoted a total bill of $127.65 to include $7.95 for flat rate shipping; my credit card was charged $127.65. I contacted the company via email asking when I could expect to receive the product I purchased and paid for. I received a reply email stating that it was a crowdfunding program and I needed to go to another website (they provided a link) to finalize my shipping address information. When I went to the website it showed an additional shipping charge of $.15 was needed from me in order to receive my product. This is clearly a deceptive sales program.Desired Settlement: I'd like to have the product I ordered and paid for in good faith delivered immediately.

Business

Response:

There seems to be a misunderstanding over the final checkout process. While the shipping did cost an additional fifteen cents, we actually comp’d this to the individual as we did not want inconvenience them over such a little amount. We do request that people go to a link and re-confirm their package and shipping details so that we can ensure that they receive everything that they would like. We apologize for the confusion.

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

Sincerely,

Review: I ordered Thingchargers on November [redacted]. They immediately charged my credit card for $127.65 but I have not received the products. I have emailed their customer service 3 times and sent a separate email to the owners email address which is listed on their site. The phone number is a constant busy signal.Desired Settlement: If the order cann't be delivered would request a refund of the charges. Need to hear from them. No response is unacceptable.

Business

Response:

We find it unfortunate when there is a misunderstanding. At the time of this complaint the individual had already received their thingCHARGERs. I would like to explain a little bit about crowdfunding. Crowdfunding has become more and more popular in recent years. Americans are enjoying getting behind new ideas and helping small start-ups succeed. Crowdfunding works a bit differently than a typical "direct sales" and we are shipping out in the order that people supported us.

Sincerely,

Review: I ordered product through their website and paid with a debit card.

A screen popped up and said thanks for your contribution. Later a follow up email explained crowdfunding platform where they can take a year to ship. None of the details of this were available before purchase.Desired Settlement: Refund my money within 24 hours.

Business

Response:

When the individual first contacted us with his original questions we responded to him within 30 minutes and continued to work with him to resolve the issue. We always feel bad when people end up in our campaign without realizing our crowdfunding status, and we always work with them to provide the best possible outcome. In this case the individual wanted a refund and we processed one right away.At the time of the advertisement he mentioned, thingCHARGER was still in the crowdfunding phase. Our website, the video, and our FAQ’s all explained this. We have information about this on the website in the form of the promotional video that auto plays at the top of the webpage and in the FAQ's as well as in our terms and conditions. We also explain this during the payment process with a statement that says: Contribute now to our pre-launch campaign and receive thingCHARGER(s) as an awesome thank-you perk from us when we ship.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

Sincerely,

When we bought our thing charger it NEVER was advertised as a crowd fund raiser but available immediately. The response is incorrect. That being said they did refund my money after numerous emails, phone calls and complaints about false advertisements.

I purchased the Thing Charger in April of 2015 and hadn't received it as of December of 2015. I notified them that I would like a refund. It took weeks sending numerous emails with no response. They informed me that they couldn't credit my charge card because Indiagogo was in charge of handling reimbursements. I was furious at the thought that not only did I not have the product I ordered, but I was out my money also.

I finally got an email from them stating that they would send me a check instead. I didn't care how I got reimbursed, just as long as I didn.

Just a few days ago I finally got a check.

I will never do business with them again, and I advise others not to attempt to do so also.

Review: I ordered the thing charger in June of 2015. I have not been able to talk to anyone when I call, and have left email with no answer.

I paid $127.00. This was an ad on FB and there continue to be posts from them, but you can not comment, and they keep saying they are now shipping. I did not read the fine print that said that they are in the process of making these and they would not be mailed right away. BUt this is ridiculous.

I had forgotten about paying for this until I saw it on FB again.Desired Settlement: I just want to get my money back, and find out is it a scam, which by now I assume it is.

Business

Response:

We have answered this individual each time that they emailed us. We did notice that they seem to have some difficulty receiving our emails as they mentioned that they located at least one of our messages in their spam filter. We are sorry that they have experienced frustration and have been attempting to resolve this with them. When they first contacted us in June, we explained our crowdfunding status and that we had not yet reached the shipping phase of the process. With crowdfunding, an inventor takes a good idea to the internet. There, many people contribute a small amount of money towards making that idea into a reality. The inventor then takes that money and uses it to create, manufacture, and ship the product. When the product is ready, it is then shipped out to all the people who supported its creation, as a thank-you gift.Because of that process, there is usually a lag between when contributions are received and when perk packages are shipped. This can feel frustrating, but it is a normal part of crowdfunding. We began shipping at the end of September 2015 and have shipped to almost all of our 2013 and 2014 contributors. We are now shipping to our earliest 2015 supporters. However, when this individual contacted us this week asking for a refund, we apologized for the wait and offered them the choice between shipping and a refund. Since they did not confirm their shipping information, we were moving forward with a refund prior to our receipt of this complaint. We have emailed the individual to let them know that we have begun their refund and to allow 2-3 business days for that to process. We would like to assure this individual that thingCHARGERs are shipping to our supporters and that we are not a scam. We are sorry that the natural delay between contribution and shipping made them worry. We hope to have them back as a customer soon.

Review: I placed my initial order 12-*-2015, after a few weeks and not hearing a word about a confirmation or tracking details- I called them , emailed them and was told someone would call me back with in a few hours. I began to search issues on line and found that there a are a number of complaints for consumers just like me.Desired Settlement: I wish to get a call from them identifying they have my order - they billed my credit card and stopped there. I need to know the shipping details or I wish to get my $207.45 credited to my credit card ASAP.

We are mystified by this complaint. On the [redacted] of December we received an email from this individual. Within a few hours we sent a response with an explanation about what was happening and a link to confirm their package and address details to get this on the way to them.

Business

Response:

We have emailed this individual to let them know that we are working on a refund. When this contributor first reached out to us they were unaware that we are still a crowdfunding campaign. With crowdfunding, many people contribute a small amount of money toward a great idea. The inventors take that money and turn it into a fantastic product, which we can then ship to the amazing people who supported us. Because crowdfunding uses the funds collected from our contributors to create, manufacture, and ship our products to our supporters, there is often a delay between the receipt of funds and the shipment of packages. When we learned that they were unaware of our crowdfunding status we attempted to explain our crowdfunding status. This was not satisfactory to them, so we attempted to meet their expectations. Because of the gap that exists between contribution and shipping, we do have a final checkout form where we ask our contributors to confirm their shipping preferences and allow them to add any upgrades or tips that they might want. In that process we do say that their package will be shipping soon, by which we mean as soon as they confirm their shipping information. However, this individual was not comfortable with that process and following that email, contacted the Revdex.com. We acted as quickly as we could to try to meet their expecations and resolve their concerns. As at this time they would prefer a refund, that is what we will do. We are very sorry, but hope that we have resolved the issue to their satisfaction.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

Sincerely,

Review: Original purchase October 2015 total $207.45. Contact with a Kirsten from company 11/*/2015. Answered 11/*/2015. No delivery. Attempt to contact 12/**/2015 and no answer. There has been no delivery of product.Desired Settlement: If order will not be delivered, would like return of money.

Business

Response:

We are so sorry! In this particular case the individual is completely correct. We sincerely apologize. When they contacted us on December [redacted], their request was handled by someone very new to our team who inadvertently closed it without resolving the issue. We will be working to ensure that this cannot happen again. We are very grateful that they contacted the Revdex.com to allow us the opportunity to correct this and we encourage anyone who has questions, or concerns, to email us directly at [redacted]. We have emailed the individual to attempt to resolve this issue immediately and, again, offer them our sincere apology. We are sorry. Please allow us the opportunity to make this right. We will continue to work with you until we have resolved this to your satisfaction.

Review: I placed an order for thingCharger units on January **,2016.

When I did not get any notification of shipment, I followed up on February [redacted] and I got a reply saying

my order was ready to ship. Then I received another email, thanking me for helping them to get the

thingCharger product to become a reality, suggesting that I donated money to its product development or the like.

I then was asked to re-confirm my shipping address. Why? It was on the original order and receipt.

Basically, they made you go through another order cycle - - tried to get you to add additional merchandise to your original order. When I said no and completed the form, it said I would be notified when the product had actually shipped.

I still have not heard anything.

Business

Response:

We are so sorry for the confusion. When this person contacted us it was clear that they hadn't understood the delay that normally comes with crowdfunding, so we tried to get them their thingCHARGERs right away and sent a link to our normal shipping confirmation page. This must have seemed very strange if they had not realized that thingCHARGER is a crowdfunding campaign. In crowdfunding, an inventor comes up with a cool idea. They take that idea to the internet. There, many people each contribute a small amount of money towards turning that idea into a reality. The inventor takes that money and uses it to create and manufacture the product. Then they ship it back out to all the people who supported them. Seymour and Amy started thingCHARGER back in 2013 as an idea in their basement and we started started shipping at the end of 2015. This process, and the time that it takes, are part of why there has been a delay in shipping your items and why the final checkout process feels so different. We finished shipping to our 2013 and 2014 contributors at the end of January and are working our way through our 2015 supporters now. We are trying hard to ship to our contributors in the order that they supported us, in honor of their patience. When this person emailed us, it was clear that they were expecting a much earlier delivery, and we attempted to meet their expectations by sending them a link to confirm their shipping information. That final checkout looks so different because it was designed for our earliest supporters. It is a place that allows them to add on some of the upgrades and types of tips that we developed, at their suggestion, during the two years that we have been working on making this idea into a reality. Additionally, during that development time period, many people have moved, so we ask our supporters to confirm their current shipping information. We are sincerely sorry that none of this was explained clearly. We will continue to work with our team to improve communication with our supporters and make sure that they are explaining the process, and why it looks so different, in cases like this. And as we begin to catch up to shipping to our newest supporters we will be looking into better ways to allow them to confirm their shipping information when needed. We are not sure at this time why our earlier email of their tracking information was not recieved, ocassionally this occurs when an email ends up in a spam folder. We have re-sent the tracking information to this individual and [redacted] estimates that their package will be delivered on February [redacted]. Their thingCHARGERs will be to them very soon. We know that they'll love the high quality and beautiful design, as well as the convenience of cord-free charging.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted].I will take thing charger for their word WHEN the product arrives.

Sincerely,

Review: Have paid the following to ThingCharger:

12/**/2015 $10.75

10/**/2015 $47.85

First was to receive the base charger product plus shipment; the 2nd was to add an additional charger for iPhones on shipment. To date, they have shipped nothing and claim they have technical difficulties with their system.Desired Settlement: They should either deliver the order or issue a credit for both chargers if they are unable to do so.

Business

Response:

We are very sorry for the difficulties that this individual encountered and are grateful to them for reaching out to us and offering us the opportunity to correct the situation. We are very happy to have been working with this individual through our internal system to resolve their concerns and sincerely hope that at this time we have done so. When this individual completed their final checkout, it happened to occur at a time that we experience a brief unexpected system outage. Their final checkout was not recorded in our shipping software. When they reached out to us to explain that they had not recieved their tracking number for their shipment, we investigated, fixed the issue and shipped their package immediately. Our records show that their package was delivered on January [redacted]. We are following up with the individual to confirm that they are satisfied with their package and that we have resolved these issues for them. We sincerely apologize for our brief computer glitch and for the inconvenience that it cause for this individual.

Sincerely,

Review: They stated they were an up start company and would begin shipping in early part of summer 2015 .....then they said they had run into a few snags and it would be the early part of third quarter 2015.... here it is almost the end of 4th quarter 2015 and I still have not received my order. They are claiming they done a test market in [redacted] but it did not interfere with Customer shipping....but I did not receive my order. Then I got an email yesterday and they claimed they had sent the final checkout email to me.....but the address they indicated have used ACCIDENTLY left out a letter, so naturally I did not get it.Desired Settlement: Overnight Delivery or full refund to credit card used.

Business

Response:

We were able to reach out to this individual via the telephone and arrange for their perk package to be sent to them right away. We are sorry that the delay between contribution and shipping made them feel so badly and are so happy that we were able to work with them to get them their thingCHARGERs.We had responded to each of this individuals emails, but we are very sorry that this misunderstanding occurred. Luckily, a simple phone call was able clear things up and make sure they got the thingCHARGERs that they had been looking forward to. Their package is on its way to them and they have been sent the tracking information. We know that they will be thrilled when their package arrives.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

They did not respond to my initial email inquiry in December 2015. They say that they did, but I never received a response until I filed this Revdex.com complaint. I have not received the products yet although they are apparently on the way. I do not want to have this issue closed until the items are received to my satisfaction.Thank you!

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Sincerely,

Business

Response:

We are very sorry that this person did not receive our response to their December [redacted] email. We did reply at that time and we cannot be certain why that response did not reach them. Ocassionally emails to our supporters do get caught in spam filters and we are very frustrated when this occurs. At this time we are creating a process to continue to follow up with our supporters when we do not hear back from them after we respond their questions to ensure that they have received our response and that they are satisfied with the outcome. We hope that it will help to prevent problems like this one in the future. Again, we are very sorry that they did not receive that December response. We are continuing to follow up with this individual and have provided them with tracking information for their package via email. At this time [redacted] is estimating that their package will be delivered to them on Monday, February [redacted]. We will be following up with them again on Tuesday February [redacted] via telephone to ensure that their thingCHARGERs are just perfect.

Review: I ordered 4 ThingChargers (Buy 3, get 1 free deal) on November *, 2015, thinking I would have them in time to give as Christmas gifts. On November *, 2015,they charged my credit card for $127.65, consisting of $119.70 for the ThingChargers and $7.95 for shipping.

On December **, 2015, I inquired about my order, and was given an excuse about this being a start-up company, which is still a "crowdfunding campaign." However, I was assured that they were shipping ThingChargers as fast as possible.

On January **, 2016, I inquired again, and was assured that If I would click on a link and verify my mailing address, the ThingChargers would be shipped right out.

When I clicked on the link and put in my name and address, up popped a bill for another 15 cents which they wanted to charge to my credit card. When I compared this computation with the original receipt that was sent to me, the 15 cent difference was additional postage and handling!

I am NOT going to pay an additional fee for postage! They have already charged me credit card for the originally agreed-upon amount! However, without paying the additional 15 cents, I cannot verify my address as they requested. I don't want this rotten company to charge one more cent to my credit card!

At this point, I no longer want the ThingChargers. I just want my money back!Desired Settlement: I would like this company to please refund the $127.65 that was charged to my credit card, and cancel my order. I no longer want the ThingChargers.

Business

Response:

We are terribly sorry for the upset this individual experienced. We have reached out to this individual to offer them an immediate refund. Unfortunately this individual did not contact us with their concerns about the final checkout process. We would have been happy to help with the process and to comp the $.15 difference between the shipping credit that was donated at initial contribution and the actual cost of shipping the package. We are terribly sorry that we were unaware of the issue and so were unable to correct it. We would have been happy to do so.At this time we have initiated the process for a full refund as that is what this individual would prefer.

Review: Ordered 3 (and was supposed to get one free) thing chargers on line on November **, 2015. This order was paid in full by my Discover credit card on same date. I received a receipt of this order numbered [redacted]. I still have not received my order. This company is impossible to reach by phone. I have tried. I sent two emails I inquiring when I could expect to receive this order to two different emails listed on their website. One email came back as undeliverable. I got a reply from the other email address saying it was an automatic response, and that it was taking them a little time to get back to customers and to be patient.Desired Settlement: Refund or merchandise delivered

Business

Response:

Our records showed that this individual reached out to us with concerns about our shipping timeline and crowdfunding. As we were happy to explain, because crowdfunding uses the funds collected from our amazing contributors to create, manufacture, and ship our products to our supporters, there is often a long delay between the receipt of funds and the shipment of packages. This can feel like a problem to individuals who are unfamiliar with crowdfunding, but it is a normal part of the process. We are terribly sorry that in this case that lag time caused concern.Because of that lag, we do ask our contributors to confirm their details, prior to shipment. This individual seemed very concerned about that process and we would love to work with them to make the it as clear and comfortable as possible. We have attempted to contact them, via phone and email, and will continue to reach out to them to try to resolve their concerns. Our goal is to verify their information and ship their thingCHARGER package as soon as possible.

[Your Answer Here]

I have advised via email that I request a refund.

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Sincerely,

First their sales practice is horrible!! Their web site only wants money, does not offer any kind of details as to when the shipping will begin or when to expect their product. They will charge you immediately for the shipping cost of course. You can contact their customer service and all you get back is some credit you can use towards their accessories.

They then credit your shipping which was $7 but then charge you an additional $2.75 of shipping and never receive the $7 credit back. It's a horrible practice, they asked that you share their product on [redacted], never, I will put out as much negative reviews as I can on this company.

Review: I ordered and paid for four chargers on November **, 2015 order number [redacted]. Since then I have received no correspondence and no product.

I would like my money refundedDesired Settlement: Refund.

Business

Response:

We are very sorry for this individuals frustration. On February [redacted], the same day that they filed this complaint, they contacted us via email requesting a refund. We had already begun that refund process and had emailed them to let them know, prior to receiving this complaint. We would like this individual to know that there is a delay between when they file a complaint with the Revdex.com and when the company in question receives that complaint. It seems as though this individual was not aware of our weekly update via hangout video that we have been making available to our contributors for over a year now on our website. We are sorry about that. If our supporters are unable to locate that on our website, we encourage them to use the contact us button and we would be happy to email them a link.At our earliest supporters request, we do not send out mass emails. However it does seem from their emails to us that they were aware of our crowdfunding status and of the delay between contribution and shipping. It seems that this individual was simply not comfortable waiting, so we are processing their refund.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved. They did inform me I would receive a refund and it appeared on my credit card activity today.I will mention that although they mention a lag in crowdfunded projects, this company already has products for sale in retail stores but has not yet fulfilled the majority of their backers orders. Really bad business as far as I'm concerned.

Sincerely,

Review: I ordered only one charger and assumed the product would be sent. The money has been taken from my account along with shipping . They never said that I was a contributor to their product development. I have called and left a message several times and also sent e-mails. They do not get back to you as they state that they get back to you right away. I have requested my money back and still have heard nothing. This is a scam. I know several people that have paid a lot more then me , and no product has been sent. How is this company being allowed to do this?Desired Settlement: I want my money back
