Review: Placed an order on November [redacted], 2015. Order # [redacted]

The website was misleading and never advertised or told consumers that orders would ship late into 2016. I was charged on my credit card $127.65 on November [redacted] and never received my order and was never told when placing my order that it wasn't shipping in a reasonable amount of time and that I would need to wait months for my order to ship. The website now states this information but it did not when I placed my order on Nov [redacted]. I emailed customer service on December [redacted] 2015 and never received a reply about why my order hadn't shipped or why I wasn't told on the website that the inventory wasn't available.Desired Settlement: I do now t want to be charged now for my purchase and wait until June 2016 for my order to ship. I would like to cancel my order and be refunded my total charge of $127.65

Response:

At the time of this writing thingCHARGER is still a crowdfunding campaign. We have been shipping our beautiful product since September and continue to ship as fast as we can.It seems that perhaps you did not realize this, and we apologize. I would love to make this right. Please check your email for a message from us asking you to confirm your shipping information.Below is a little information about crowdfunding:Crowdfunding is a platform where inventors can launch a new product by asking for the funds upfront. Once we have your thingCHARGER made we send an email asking to confirm your shipping details so we can send you a thank-you gift of thingCHARGERs for your generous support.

Review: Ordered the thingCHARGER a month ago and have not received the product. Then I recently received an email stating I needed to complete the order process which then charged me additional funds of $12.95. I then received a confusing invoice with a different order# stating a charge of $179.60 which is $60.00 more than the original purchase price of $119.80. It seems the continue to bait you to get the order shipped and then nothing.

This company has the most awkward and deceiving order process I have ever encountered.Desired Settlement: Immediate-Full refund of the purchase price. Based on the their confusing invoices, I'm not even sure what amount I have been charged.

Response:

thingCHARGER is a crowdfunding campaign. Before we ship perk packages to our supporters we send them a link where they can add upgrades and select additional tips for their chargers. This individual selected an additional tip for the bonus charger in their perk package which is where the additional charge came from. When the individual contacted us with their concern about the invoice we responded with an explanation of the invoice. At the time of this response the individual has received all of their thingCHARGERs and their tips.

Sincerely,

I received the following automated response to my query regarding shipping and late delivery:

Thanks for getting in touch.

When Amy & I invented thingCHARGER we couldn’t dream of the response we’d get from wonderful folk like you supporting us.

We’re shipping now and thrilled with the quality of the product - but we’ve had SO MUCH SUPPORT over the last few weeks its taking us a couple of days to get back to everyone at the moment.

We’re committed not only to shipping an amazing product but also being great with support. Please be patient with us for just a couple of days.

Meanwhile here’s what folks are saying:

Oh my gosh!! You guys totally ROCK! You guys are doing a fantastic job with the YouTube videos and with your marketing...that's what drew us to you to begin with.

When they arrive they will be the talk of the town...AND the office. I'm bringing mine in and using it on my desk. ( I'm a Systems Administrator so you can imagine the cords on my desk). Can't wait for the guys to see what will be on MY desk! If they're good, perhaps they can receive one next Christmas :)

Thanks Cameron, and I'm sure we'll be absolutely thrilled with these. And have more tips than we can ever use! LOL Please pass on to Amy the card is just PERFECT. Well done! ~ K.H.

EEEEP! I’m so excited. Thank you all for your diligence in making a good product. And, thank you Amy, for your patience as a client representative. I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday season! Thank you! ~ Kathy

When I found out this was a crowdfunding project I was totally 100% happy to be part of it. This product is amazing. We are a Samsung family and I will happily wait for the five I ordered. Good luck to thingCHARGER! I'm sending the link to your site to everyone I know. ~ H.

Review: I responded to this company's advertisement and bought several of their products on their website on 11/**/2015. The order number is #[redacted] and the amount charged to my debit card was $127.65.

A week later, I did not receive an email notifying me that my items had shipped, so I called and emailed the company and requested a shipping date. I received no response, either by phone or email. Two days later, I called and emailed again, and two days later I heard back from "Amanda." She informed me that my order would not ship until sometime in January. I replied to her email and told her I wanted an immediate refund of $127.65. Two days later she replied that she would forward my email to her supervisor. I replied back, and once again demanded a refund. I have not received a reply, nor have I heard from her supervisor. Since then, I have called and emailed EVERYDAY demanding a refund and I have been ignored. This company only provides an answering system when you call, so there is no one to talk to, and now they will not answer my emails. THIS COMPANY HAS STOLEN $127.65 FROM ME AND I WANT MY MONEY RETURNED TO ME IMMEDIATELY.Desired Settlement: THIS COMPANY HAS STOLEN $127.65 FROM ME AND I WANT MY MONEY RETURNED TO ME IMMEDIATELY.

Business

Response:

At the time of this complaint thingCHARGER is still a crowdfunding campaign and we are proud to say we began shipping our beautiful product in September and continue to ship as quickly as we can.It seems that the individual did not realize this and we apologize for the confusion. Prior to this complaint being filed we had been in contact with the individual and a refund had already been issued.

Consumer

Response:

To I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and the matter has been resolved.HOWEVER, it took two weeks, nine emails, a complaint here, and seven comments on social media to finally get this business to respond to my refund demand. This business is actively selling and advertising on their website [redacted]) and there is nothing on the site about "crowdfunding" or long delays in shipment. (Comments on [redacted] indicate that others are unaware of this company's fulfillment problems too. One woman has been waiting since last March!) For them to pretend that I was aware of their long fulfillment time is WRONG.

Sincerely,

The in enters need to back to the drawing board. The Chargers cannot support the devices with the small tip. Most iPhones and iPads have some sort of case. Devices are not standing straight when in a case. It's ridiculous to think the case can be removed each time you charge. What were they thinking of? Not very smart. I returned my thing chargers and suggested that the company design a cradle to support devices. The second problem is not being to see the connection because it is underneath the charger. The third problem was a long delay between the order and the delivery in spite of the charge to my [redacted] at least four months before delivery. They used these funds to continuing to work on starting the business

This company advertised their charging device on Facebook and seemed legitimate. I ordered one in December-- never received it even though they charged $47 to my credit card. They are just now emailing to thank me for my "donation" to help start up their company!! That is not what their website said at all! And now in order to get my "gift" (the charger) from them they are asking me to put an additional $2 on my credit card and they will ship it! These people are scamming buyers and don't deliver on what they promised

Review: Buyer beware!!!! I ordered 5 Thing Chargers as part of a package on November [redacted], 2015 and immediately received an electronic confirmation. It is now December *, 2015. Since then all I have heard from them is crickets. I have emailed 4 times with no response. I tried to phone but their phone messages says they do not return calls. They say to email them and they will respond within an hour. I started emailing a couple of days ago - again, crickets. I guess that I will have to proceed with a complaint with my credit card to get my money back.

Business

Response:

During the time frame of this transaction thingCHARGER was

still a crowdfunding project and not accepting direct orders. The confirmation

email that she received was confirming the perk package that was selected. thingCHARGER has customer support agents returning phone

calls and responding to email inquiries. We received our first email

communication from her on the [redacted] of December and responded on the

same day. She was offered an upgrade to stick with the campaign until the New

Year. Ultimately she requested a refund and one was processed on the [redacted] of December. It’s unfortunate when we hear of confusion about our

crowdfunding campaign. We do provide information about our campaign on the home

page of the website, in our FAQs, in the video that auto plays and a disclaimer

is listed in the shopping cart.

Consumer

Response:

They did return my money, however, their explanation is unacceptable. If they were crowd funding why did they have an order form and charge me delivery? If it is crowd funding why charge delivery. It is bogus [redacted]

Review: After receiving an unsolicited advertisement for the "thingcharger" on the internet, I placed an order for several thingchargers on order # [redacted] on December *, 2015 with the expectation that I would receive the order by December [redacted] 2015. In an email on 12/**/2015, I requested shipping information about my order and received a reply which is copied and shown below. My credit card has been billed showing a deduction dated 12/*/2015.

Finding out that I was funding this start up company was totally unexpected. This was not indicated within their on- line advertisement.

My only interest is receiving what I ordered. If you would contact this company about my complaint will be certainly appreciated.

[redacted]Desired Settlement: Receiving the product as advertised and I paid for in advance and have been charged

Business

Response:

We apologize for the misunderstanding. We do try to make our crowdfunding status clear and it is unfortunate when that is not sucessful. This individual's package has been shipped and is on it's way.

Sincerely,

Review: Order thingCHARGER on 11-*-2015. They took the money $127.65 out of my account immediately. I have not heard from them since then. On the last page of their website they do have an explanation as to why they are so long in shipping. I have never heard of a company that takes your money and doesn't send the product or some correspondence of explanation. In reading other complains about this company it was written that every Friday they put put out an update. Never seen one, never told there was one. I was under the impression the products were ready for shipping. As to form letters, I sent an email at 11:15 tonight and received a reply one minute later. Seems like a form letter to meDesired Settlement: This is the request I sent in my email to thingCHARGER:

I have never received any more correspondence from you Nov *, 2015 to today Dec **, 2015, nor have I received my four (buy 3, get one free) thingCHARGER. Perhaps you can explain why you have had my $127.65 since Saturday, November **, 2015 8:29 PM and I have no products.

Please advise, immediately, send me the products ordered, or refund my money, plus interest for the time you have had it in hand and I did NOT.

Review: The website for this product is extremely misleading. No where does it indicate that when you order the product you are actually donating to a crowdfunding campaign to finance the production of the product. My "order" actually includes a shipping charge--how can I understand that there is no product yet to sell me if they actually charge me shipping?Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of my $47.85.

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

Sincerely,

Disappointed thus far with the experience with thing charger. I wasn't aware I was making a donation and not receiving my items I ordered until I came up with more money before it would be sent to me. I paid the $127.65 upon ordering in October 2015. I just recently sent an email to them asking about my order and why it was not sent yet. That's when they sent me the link to what I now needed to do. Is this normal for this?

I payed for my order on November ** and never received the charger. There was no indication whatsoever on the website or in the receipt that there may be a delay with the purchase. Looks very much like a scam.

Review: I ordered four of these in early December 2015, for Christmas gifts. When they hadn't arrived I emailed the company several times. Finally I was told they might arrive in the fall! They thanked me for my "contribution" to their manufacture. I have filed a dispute with my bank.Desired Settlement: Refund

Business

Response:

When this individual contacted us, we our explained crowdfunding status and expected shipping timeline. They were unhappy with this and requested a refund. We attempted to resolve the situation by meeting their earlier expectations, however they never replied to us. We are very sorry that we did not initiate a refund at that time.We have since altered our policies so that we have safe-guards in place to prevent this from happening again. At this time, we would be happy to work with this individual to provide them with a refund. However, once a dispute is opened, banking institutions put a freeze on that account and will not allow us to return funds to it until the dispute is resolved. We have reached out to this individual directly to determine whether their dispute is still active, and issue them a refund if we can.

Review: Ordered product on October *, 2015 Order #[redacted] - still waiting to get my product, of course they took my money that day per credit cardDesired Settlement: Immediate refund or send product this year!

Business

Response:

We are mystified as to why this individual has lodged a Revdex.com complaint. They first contacted us with their concerns and we responded the same day. As soon as the shipping details were confirmed these were boxed up and ready to ship. At the time of this posting this package is on it’s way to the individual. At the time of this response thingCHARGER is a crowdfunding campaign that has started shipping. I would like to explain about our crowdfunding status and why things feel a bit "different" with our shipping timelines, etc. We would hate for anyone to misunderstand misunderstand what thingCHARGER is all about. We are a crowdfunding campaign that is now shipping after 2 years of development and lots of people cheering us on for those 2 years. Crowdfunding campaigns start out advertising and developing at the same time, and once the development of the product is completed, then the new development (in this case our thingCHARGER) is shipped to supporters in the order they joined--so there is always a lag time between when a crowdfunding campaign bills you and when you receive your items.

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[Idid not receive a response when I emailed them - only after I filed with the Revdex.com did they respond. Also their crowdfunding, started in 2013 has raised over $1 milliion, yet this company chose to distribute their product to [redacted] and [redacted] on TV stores, rather than distribute the product to their "contributers". The phone number at the bottom of the e-mail from the "distributor" went to an automated answering machine for "Change Your Mind Right Now" not for Thingcharger. Although they sent an order to [redacted] on December **, finally shipping from LA (not Las Vegas as most of their replies state), the product is still not on my doorstop - therefore I am keeping the complaint open. Sincerely,[redacted]Assistant Professor of Nursing and Healthcare GeneticsClemson University

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Sincerely,

Business

Response:

At the time of this response the individual’s thingCHARGERs have been delivered. The shipping method that was used to send this package is called [redacted] Home delivery. The package is packed at our facility in Las Vegas and then transported to Los Angeles for processing and shipment. This uses a combination of [redacted] and [redacted] to deliver the packages in the most cost effective way. thingCHARGER was only available in Sam’s club in very limited amounts. This was a test run by our licensee and manufacturer P3 International. thingCHARGER has not been available in Costco or in As Seen on TV stores.

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved. However, I do question their business ethics as Thingcharger shipped the product to wholesalers before sending the product to their "contributors" from their crowdfunding site, who supplied the capital for this venture.

Sincerely,

Review: I ordered 3 + 1 free chargers from the Thing Charger on the [redacted]. of October 2015. Order #[redacted]. As of today I have not received them or any word as to when they are to be expected. It has been charged to my credit card. I have emailed them 3 times and called them 2 times. I have yet to hear from them.

I would like to have a refund of $127. OR the chargers.

I would appreciate any help you can give me.

Thank you.

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

Sincerely,

It has been over 6 months and we haven't heard a thing. We ordered 3 chargers

Review: I ordered this crowd funded product around two years ago. I prepaid for 10 of the items with prepaid shipping. The campaign stated the expected to ship within 6 months. I waited patiently when that deadline was exceeded.

I just received an email stating that actual shipping would exceed prepaid shipping by 92.00 and asking for a credit card for that amount. Not only is 99.00 clearly way more than it would cost to ship these items, they had my 232.00 payment for two years--talk about a complete lack of respect for the people that backed them so they could bring their product to market. This is abhorrent and they should deliver the product at the price I originally paid along with an appology for this complete lapse in judgement.Desired Settlement: Deliver the product at the price I paid over two years ago.

Business

Response:

We truly apologize for the confusion and frustration that this individual experienced. We do value our early contributors and absolutely try to honor their incredible patience and support. We respect that they were willing to stick with us through the time that it took to create, test, manufacture, and ship a product that meets our incredibly high standards for quality. We are so happy that this individual reached out to us, both here at the Revdex.com, and directly. We were able to uncover the source of the additional fees that they were seeing and correct the issue prior to shipping. In this case, the individual had inadvertently upgraded all 10 of their thingCHARGER units to our Double the Power model. Without that upgrade the final difference between the estimated cost of shipping that they paid at initial contribution and the actual cost of shipping to their location was only $3.43.They have completed that final shipping confirmation and their package is on the way. As soon as [redacted] logs the package into their system, we will email the individual a tracking number and [redacted] will provide an estimated delivery date. We hope that we have resolved this individuals concerns and addressed their questions. We are truly sorry for the confusion.

Review: Several issues with respect to this company:

1. They advertise the product as ready to be shipped, however it's been 4 months now and have recieved nothing. In searching the internet, discover that this is not a ready product, it's a campaign with delivery expectations of sometime in the future. From my perspective, this is false advertising.

2. Customer Service - My wife sent an e-mail 1 week ago, no response.

3. Customer Service - I've sent an e-mail, no response.

4. The number listed on their website only directs users to their e-mail addresses, which they don't respond to. There is no way to talk to a person.Desired Settlement: My expectations are:

I am contacted in the next couple of days with a reasonable delivery date.

Reasonable is in the next 30 days. If that is not possible, then either I want a full refund or some compensation for this very painful experience. Compensation in the form of a significant discount on the product I've already paid for (i.e. they need to give me money back) or providing additional products for free.

Business

Response:

The business has responded. Please see below:The individual first contacted our contributor care team late in the evening on August [redacted]. Although he states that his emails to us were ignored, we have a record of our back and forth conversations with him. We find it unfortunate when there is a misunderstanding, and our Contributor Care team responded the next morning and offered a free upgrade for the confusion he and his wife experienced. Ultimately the individual wanted a refund and one was processed without delay. At the time of the advertisement he mentioned, thingCHARGER was still in the crowdfunding phase. Our website, the video, and our FAQ’s all explained this. Our phone number does have a voicemail for individuals to leave messages which are checked and responded to daily. The outgoing message is set up to refer individuals to our email as this is our most efficient method of communication. Our entire team is made up of a group of people who are extremely committed to getting thingCHARGER out to all of our contributors this summer. We also provide weekly updates in the form of a live hangout, which are then archived so that supporters are able to stay in touch with our latest progress. Every Friday at 1 pm EST we provide a new update and answer supporter questions at [redacted].

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

My wife's e-mails to them were ignored, not mine. The Revdex.com should monitor social media for this company, they will find that there are many people that have the same complaints that I had.

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Sincerely,

Review: My order was placed online at the thingCHARGER.com website on November **, 2015 for four (buy three, get one free) of the thingCHARGER battery charging device. Full payment (which included $7.95 Shipping “via Flat Rate to North America") was charged to my credit card at time of order. Also at the time of order, an email receipt was sent to me acknowledging the order, payment, as well as my shipping and email addresses and contact phone number.

At the time of my order in November 2015, the company’s website had a brief reference to earlier crowdfunding activity, but gave the clear impression that crowdfunding aspect was over and that product could then be ordered and was ready for delivery. The company’s (then) major Fall online advertising also suggested that its product would be an excellent Christmas or holiday gift, further implying that device was available and there would be prompt order fulfillment.

As of the date of submitting this complaint (Feb. *, 2016), I have not received delivery of the product..

I have had several email exchanges with the company about this order.

Dec. *, 2015 -- My email inquiry about order status and an expected delivery date. Company’s email reply: A condescending explanation suggesting that I didn’t understand this was “still” a crowdfunding campaign and that the company was backed up on product shipment. Email stated the product would ship “soon” but no estimate of a delivery date (as had been requested) was provided.

Feb. *, 2016 -- I sent second email inquiry about status and timing of delivery of my order. Company’s email reply: Again the company’s reply email was nonspecific as to timing of delivery. Instead, the email stated that I needed to complete a “Final Checkout” form online in order to verify my shipping address and which also would allow me order additional products as part of a “Perk Package”. (A review of this online form, however, showed that even in the absence of ordering any additional products, the company was requiring an additional shipping charge of $0.29. As an online form the “Final Checkout” form could not be completed and submitted without agreeing to the additional payment.)

Feb. *, 2016 -- My third email expressly stated that I was not interested any “additional items, upgrades, or perks” and that the company’s attempt to collect additional shipping charges now was unacceptable. I also expressly requested a full refund of my initial purchase price in light of: 1) the company’s attempt to collect the additional shipping charges, 2) the protracted delay in shipping, and 3) the evasive replies to my repeated email inquiries about delivery. I also advised that I was aware of the several complaints that had been filed with the NY Revdex.com describing circumstances similar to mine and that in the absence of providing the requested refund I would do the same. Company’s email reply: Only a confusing explanation as to why I was seeing extra shipping charges on the final bill, that the shipper may be adding the charges, and that for such small extra shipping fees, the company “actually comp(s) them after final checkout.” There was no acknowledgement or response to my direct request for a refund.Desired Settlement: I have requested a full refund but would accept immediate and full delivery of the products ordered in November 2015.

Business

Response:

We are very sorry for the frustration that this individual experienced. We have emailed them acknowledging their request for a refund and will process that for them right away. It appears that when this individual contributed to our crowdfunding campaign, they were unaware of our crowdfunding status and believed that we had moved to direct shipping. We are sorry that they felt badly about the email explaining that we were still a crowdfunding campaign as that was not our intent. When they emailed in December we were still working on developing a shipping timeline based on the month in which supporters donated to our campaign, so at that time we could not give a precise answer. We do have a shipping timeline available now on our website. Because thingCHARGER is still a crowdfunding campaign and we are currently shipping to our very early supporters, we have a final checkout to allow them to add any items that were not available when they originally contributed and to confirm their current shipping address. This individual became very frustrated with that process and we are very sorry that they were not given the information they needed to feel comfortable completing that shipping confirmation. While this individual had prepaid an amount towards shipping, occassionally the actual cost of shipping is slightly higher than the prepaid amount. When this difference is small, as in this case, we do not charge the supporter. However, we do want to offer an apology for the frustration that this individual experienced with the final checkout process and that this individuals frustration and request for a refund was not immediately acknowledged. We will be working on improved training to prevent that from happening again. At this time we have begun the refund process and emailed this individual to let them know. We will be following up with them as soon as the refund has been processed.

Sincerely,

Review: On December **. 2015. I ordered 5 thing chargers, with an additional 2 free, for a total of $207.45 charged to my [redacted] credit card. Order # [redacted]

I have repeatedly contacted the company, yet they have not shipped out our 7 thingchargers.

I would appreciate any help you can give me.Desired Settlement: I need the items delivered as promised quickly or a complete refund.

Business

Response:

We are very happy to say that this individual contacted us directly as well at the same time as they reached out to the Revdex.com and that we have been able to answer their questions and make progress towards their desired resolution. We are very sorry that they experienced a long delay between contribution and shipping, without an explanation of why that delay had occurred. We try to make our crowdfunding status clear in our advertisements and on our website, we are very sorry that in this case it was missed. As we were happy to explain to this individual, with crowdfunding, many people contribute a small amount of money toward a great idea. The inventors take that money and turn it into a fantastic product, which we can then ship to the amazing people who supported us. Because crowdfunding uses the funds provided by our contributors to create, manufacture, and ship our products to our supporters, there is often a delay between the receipt of funds and the shipment of packages. However, we are happy to say that, after confirming this individuals shipping information, we were able to get their package in process and it will be shipped out right away. We will continue to follow up with them until they are completely satisfied with their experience. We encourage anyone who is concerned about their package or experience to contact us right away at [redacted].
