UpRight Law, LLC Reviews (907)

I contacted Upright Law to assist me in obtaining a bankruptcy. they quoted me a good price, I took them up on their offer and they performed admirably. They handled everything that they said they would and I received no creditor phone calls at all and they were there with me when I went to court. I would recommend them to anyone who needs a reputable firm.

Happy with the services provided to me in resolving my debt issues. I have already recommended upright law to others in need.

I want to share my experience with Upright Law. When I need a question answered they are very polite and answer any questions I might have.

Complaint: 11023310
I am rejecting this response because:  as I said I have waited for a Mr [redacted] to call.  This is the person that Steve at Upright Law told me would be calling.  It does take me a while to get to the phone.  I am 65 with arthritis and cancer (hopefully in remission).  They have had my phone # and I will check but have not heard the phone ring cept from my daughter
Sincerely,
Lauren [redacted]

I try to read all reviews when making any decisions involving internet transactions. I feel that if a consumer makes the effort to share his or her likes and dislikes, I should take the time to read them. I on the other hand, I seldom bother to voice my opinions, but when I do I am really impressed. In the case of Upright Law, I found everyone to be easy to speak to and most important, easy to understand. The no waiting customer assistance regarding my currant issue was appreciated and refreshing. I feel I have made a wise choice in choosing Upright Law Firm to represent me. The fees are very reasonable. I would and have recommended this firm to family and friends.

Two months ago my husband and I contacted upright law to file for bankruptcy. We thought filing would lessen our financial stress. We've paid them in full and we're assigned to an attorney, one who never answered her phones or called back within 72 hours like her answering machine says. She never once returned our calls. Every time we'd contact upright they were rude at times and said they'd send her an email. Few more weeks pass by and they tell us our attorney is out on medical leave and will be back in office tomorrow (this was last week) and we should expect a call. We didn't receive a call, we received a text saying she was not available. She finally emailed us and said she wouldn't be returning back to work until August 16! You think you would inform your clients. Going through upright has caused us so much stress! We went and got our own lawyer who has a filed within 2 days of meeting with him. He also tells us we are not the first people just this year that has came to him and had this same issue. Upright will not refund us our money. They only wanted to refund $35 because apparently that's all that was left.. I argued and argued and got it io to half of my money back, which can't even be sent back to my bank but will be sent in a check by mail within 30 days! Why should I have to wait so long for MY money? Why aren't I entitled to my FULL refund! Upright was a waste of time and money. I do appreciate half back instead of $35 tho. If they've been a help to you then youre lucky! Seems its a hit and miss with satisified and unsatisfied customers.

Very good firm to have work with you. Answer you rest and are reasonable priced. Very happy with them. Will recommend them to others.

This has been a very positive experience and all employees have been polite and knowledgeable. all phone calls are returned quickly.

They where professional and courteous at all times

I have had a great experience so far

I've only just gotten started with UpRight Law, but so far am very impressed with how professional, friendly and helpful the staff is.

To be a firm that is suppose to be on your side and help you with bankruptcy they sure do have a great way of making you feel like a complete it or like you have no money what so EVER!!! When you tell them you would rather save to pay them then be set up with a payment plan they constantly try to shove down your throat. I will never business with this so called "firm" the agent I spoke with Mr. B[redacted] called from an Ashland number [redacted] was talking to me as if I was the dumbest poorest incompetent person there was when I talked about saving money. He made seem as if I he was perfect and had the best credit in the world and that he has never been in a financial hardship; but even if he was he should have shown a little empathy and not made me feel like I was doing setting wrong because I felt more comfortable saving money to pay upfront but little does he know I have the money but if he was nicer he would have gotten my service, but since he was implying that I don't know how to save money, that I live paycheck to paycheck, or that I was just broke I will never take his advice or advise anyone to use the service. This company and that employee Mr. B[redacted] is all about making their own money. I don't see how they were rated with an A on Revdex.com but I rate them a FFF because failed at treating me with respect and they failed to answering my questions and helping me.

Very helpful! And responded quickly

I am the managing attorney at UpRight Law for Enhanced Service.  When I learned of this complaint, I immediately called him to address his concerns.
This client spoke with his local attorney one day prior to filing this complaint and only started the process of sending his paperwork in...

yesterday.  The process of filing for bankruptcy is not normally a one or two day undertaking.  Any law firm will need the client to furnish it with certain documentation to prove the factual statements contained in the bankruptcy petition.  The case is further complicated by the fact that the client owns multiple pieces of real estate which need to be addressed in the bankruptcy petition.  All of this is currently under way and we look forward to helping this client trough his difficult situation.  After our conversation and my explanation of these factors to him, he is pleased with UpRight Law's response and remains a happy client moving forward with his case.

So for the lawyers have been very helpful an understanding with me they have giving me time to make my payment cause it has been really hard for me an I really appreciated that they are working with me on this matter.....

Appreciate the service great professionals

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/04/16) */
Greetings,
Client hired Firm on May 17, 2013, and at that time he executed a signed contract for our services. That signed agreement laid out our obligations to the client, his obligations to the firm, and how we can mutually end the...

relationship. In late August, 2013, Firm sought damages by a third party collector supposedly violating the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. The goal was to take stress off of Client by stopping the harassment and the settlement would be used to help pay for the bankruptcy.
To Client's point of fraudulently accepting an electronic payment, it is admittedly so that a payment was run on April 7, 2015. This being the day after Client requested cancelling, Firm has since taken corrective action by refunding this transaction to the Client.
Client is incorrect in stating he was ever told he would get a full refund. We offer a 100% money back guarantee if the client cannot file due to our error. This is not the case for the example of this Client. Every legal services client is billed for services performed. Firm charges a flat-fee retainer where the flat fee retainer must be paid in full before a case may be filed. Stating a case did not get filed is not the same thing as saying work was not completed on a case.
On April 16, 2015, I provided Client his signed attorney-client agreement, along with an accounting of work completed. The amount of earned work by Firm's staff exceeds the amount of money Client has effectively paid Firm. All that withstanding, Firm has offered a partial refund equal to 20% of the retainer paid ($210). Client has refused the offer. However, the offer still stands, and I have personally provided Client with next steps, should Client change his mind.
We are happy this Client has achieved success in taking care of his debt issues, and wish him the best in the future. Should Client ever be in need of our services in the future, then we will honor the fees he has already paid.
If I can be of any further assistance in resolving this issue, please call me directly at [redacted]
Sincerely,
[redacted]

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2015/04/17) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I was made to sign under false pretenses. The lawyer or company representative I met with for my initial consultation clearly indicated that a full refund would be issued if any situation arose, preventing me from being able to file. This is clearly not a reputable company to work with, they lie to you to get you to sign a contract, they admitted the fraud, stealing money from my bank account after I cancelled their services, then using semantics to avoid giving you a refund. Saying that no work will be performed on your account until it's paid in full but then saying they did work that they charge ridiculous amounts for. No matter what they say about how I am wrong, I'm not, I am recounting exactly what their representative told me. I just want my money back so I can move on. It is incredibly dishonest and poor business ethics to keep someone's money, knowing full well that no services were rendered for that money. If you are considering bankruptcy, definitely DO NOT consider Upright Law/[redacted] law.

I am the managing attorney at UpRight Law for Enhanced Service.  When this complaint was emailed to me from the Revdex.com, I immediately reached out to this client to discuss her concerns.  Unfortunately, she has not answered any of my calls and she has no voicemail option on her...

phone. There are a number of things in this complaint that are important to clear up and understand.
When an individual files for bankruptcy, all creditors known by the client and communicated to the attorney are included on the petition.  This happens by notification of the court at the time of the filing.  Cases are filed when the client pays the fees for the filing.  Until then, the law firm can contact those creditors who seek verification of representation, but no law firm can completely stop creditor calls until the case is filed.  This is because the creditors are required to follow the order of the court, not the request of the law firm.
Secondly, there is no such thing a debtor's prison in the United States.  A person cannot be prosecuted criminally for owing money to another person and being unable to pay.  A person can be prosecuted for a variety of fraud charges for issuing bad checks, but that is not usually done unless the client repeatedly issues fraudulent checks or issues them for amounts far in excess of the balance of the account.  The district attorneys exercise their discretion to determine whether the client's behavior was criminally fraudulent or merely mistaken.  If the behavior was criminally fraudulent, then filing for bankruptcy will not make that person's crimes suddenly become non-criminal.
We are a bankruptcy law firm.  We do not practice criminal law and we do not provide advice to clients regarding criminal charges or represent them in criminal actions.
Next, when we are hired by any client we begin the work of preparing a bankruptcy case for them.  For some of that work, the client will be on the phone with the attorney or in the office with the attorney.  For most of that work, especially in the early stages of preparation, the work will be performed by the attorneys and the non-attorney staff outside the immediate view of the client.  This client spoke with 2 attorneys and a number of non-attorney staff members wherein they spent hours accumulating information from the client and preparing the case file.
Additionally, our firm has licensed attorneys in every state in this country.  They practice in bankruptcy law every day and provide the highest level of legal representation and advice.  This client's legal issues were in no way caused or exacerbated by any lack of knowledge from UpRight Law.
My line remains open to this client and if she decides to contact me, I will be happy to help her resolve her financial problems.

UpRight Law Is an awesome company, they are very friendly and willing to work with a person in need. They always call to make sure everything is going well with me and answering all my questions. I would recommend them to anyone that is in need of a bankruptcy lawyer.
