We did not receive any notification that you wished to cancel this trial. The 3 day trial has ended; therefore, you were charged the membership fee on the fourth day, and for every month thereafter. Per your initial request over the phone on 5/19/2015 we cancelled the automatic renewal of your membership. The two membership fees are non-refundable per the Terms you agreed to but per this complaint, and as a onetime courtesy, we will grant one refund for the most current month of membership. Please allow 2-5 business days for the refund to process back into your credit or debit card.

I am rejecting this response because:The terms of this offer were not adequately explained.  No email was sent explaining that I had accepted this plan.  No receipt was sent for this plan (although I did receive a receipt for the one search I performed).  I did not make any other searches after the initial one nor did I use any of the benefits outlined.I don't think that the terms of this plan are clearly stated or followed up on.  Rather it is hidden, unclear when the initial search is performed.  PeopleFinders does not send any monthly receipts or statements.  I only found out about these charges when I opened my credit card statement.  By then I had been charged not once but twice for a total amount of $49.99.  I have not used any of these services at any time before or since and believe I am entitled to a full refund.PeopleFinders should look carefully at the way this program is presented and implemented to avoid fraudulent use of the credit card number I provided to pay for the initial search  I believe this plan is deliberately confusing and obscure to  lure consumers to sign up without their knowledge.  This way PeopleFinders can collect at least the first two months of fees before the consumer is the wiser.  This iis an instance of computer fraud and scam schemes.

and did not have complete information including my correct email address which I used to order the report.  The business did not deliver on it's advertised claims: criminal information, marraige records, divorce records, contact information.  They did not perform according to their advertisement.

I am rejecting this response because:The point is not about the refund. The point is about their deceptive business practice of automatically charging consumer charge cards.This practice is common on the Internet and should be stopped.

confusion. They did not call, they contacted, support on 2/15/16 in the form of an email in which we have record of. We replied to them stating we have canceled their membership and refunded them the $24.95 that same day. On the same day the customer both emailed us in regards to the membership, we replied back saying we refunded and they also logged in and canceled their membership themselves.

We apologize for the confusion. It appears that the customer had selected a Premium Membership to be active on that same day. However, we went ahead and refunded the $14.98 today.

I am rejecting this response because:I was told that the sources would be emailed to me so that I could find where this erroneous information of my death could be corrected ... this could cause problems with my insurance etc if it truly in the public who placed it there it needs to be addressed as the company states they are the best in reporting if so they should know the source and if they don't they shouldn't be in the business.

The customer purchased a extensive background check. The website states in a pop up menu the coverage for divorce records. No refund will be issued

I am rejecting this response because: it is completely untrue. I never contacted this company whatsoever to request their services. I have no idea how they claim I did. If they took my money without making sure first it was me who was requesting their services, it is not my fault, therefore is not responsibility.I am outraged at their response that I accepted these charges.I would like them to give me a written statement where it shows how many times I used their website during those 2 months. If I accepted to pay them $24.99 a month, surely I used their website, I would be stupid to pay them money and not take advantage of their services.They are liars and scammers.[redacted]

from PeopleFinders when they received my request to close my account. I used their account to locate some relatives. I no longer need this account - I am not using their service and do NOT want to be billed for services I do NOT use or want or need.

Received your letter dated February 5, 2016 pertaining to People Finders. First of all, I believe the employee of the company thought they could get away with charging $14.98 +$0.47 & $0.48. As you can see, attached copy shoes I believed to accepting card purchase of $0.50 which was requested.  The other charges were unknown to me, as I stated previously, in my complaint. So, why would someone do this? A misunderstanding? No.  And, make a note that I never received any report. Reason I caught this.  Let’s say, perhaps, People Finders learned they cannot cheat an educated Consumer.  I wish to close this complaint, as satisfactory. If you desire additional information please let me know. careful to only order the location search. I did not want or need a criminal background check. I thought I was paying $3 for the thing. I would NEVER have signed up for the $15 search OR your recurrent subscription. This is clearly intended to deceive the consumer and, because of the number of complaints against this company, it is clear they have done this to many, many people. I want to see where I authorized this and I wish to continue this action and escalate it as far as possible. This is an unscrupulous company and is not to be trusted.
