That Peoplefinders is telling you that my membership is cancelled does not necessarily mean they have cancelled it. Given the propensity of this company to lie I suspect they will continue to attempt to take money out of my account. I am trying to have that blocked by my bank on my end.

Our records show that at the time of purchase on 1/12/2015 you chose to receive a discounted price ($0.95) for signing up for a 3 day trial to our Membership. This membership allowed you to receive an unlimited number of:•People Searches – Get the facts you need to find anyone, anywhere•Email...

Searches – Obtain email addresses, or learn about the owner of any address•Marriage Searches – Find out if a man or woman has ever been married•Divorce Searches – Check the divorce status of any man or woman•Property Searches – Learn about any piece of property, including the current owner and  valueYou had the option to cancel this membership trial at anytime via your account manager on the website, via email, or via phone. We did not receive any notification that you wished to cancel this trial. The 3 day trial has ended; therefore, you were charged the membership fee on the fourth day, and for every month thereafter. Per your first request over the phone on 8/14/2015 the membership was cancelled. A supervisor called out to you on 9/11/2015 per your request and agreed to refund the most current three months of membership ($24.95 each), as a onetime courtesy. These should have reflected on your bank statement within three to five business days. There are no further refunds available to you per the Terms you agreed to. The remaining four months of membership fees ($24.95) and the initial trial cost ($0.95) remain your responsibility.

Please review the website. It clearly stats that the .48 cents charge is for a trial membership that needs to be canceled if the membership is not wanted.

I am rejecting this response because: I used the site a good while back. I personally called them, letting them know I was unpleased with them charging me for their membership in which at that time, was unaware that you had to cancel a membership. I had to " eat" that money loss cause even with explanation of my ignorance of it, would they refund my money. Now, with that being said, when I told my son to make sure he cancelled anything and everything to do with that company after using it, he did just that! Cancelled it! They , the company, took it upon themselves to not charge me once, but twice for something I didn't want, authorize, or need! This company is of the digital and computer kind. That can do and say whatever, and generate whatever to back up their response to you, the Revdex.com. I can honestly tell you, he cancelled the membership thing the same day. This company, The PeopleFinder, needs to be fined, sued, took off-line ; it's a joke and a way to take those who use it unknowingly, the company is gonna take more than 99¢ off their card.

After my initial call to peoplefinder's I asked to speak with a manger.  One did call back and offered me an additional month credit.  (That is a change from my original complaint).  I was charged for Jan., Feb., March and April.  They initially agreed to credit back April, March...

then later added in Feb.  My bank is looking into it as well under unauthorized charge.  So at this point, I am looking for January for $24.95 as well as having them remove my credit card info from their server.I feel there is a ton of people saying the same thing on the Internet.  I almost feel like they hope people won't notice.  Does not seem right.

I am rejecting this response because:  The wording is very misleading.  It is a sham!!

We are sorry, but we were unable to complete your 4 attempted orders at PeopleFinders.com on 10/8/2015. It appears that you did not provide the correct three-digit code from the back of your credit card, so the transaction failed. You may see a pending charge on your credit card statement, but...

it will be removed within ten business days.

We are sorry that you did not receive the results you were hoping for. We have reviewed the report and found that the owner has lived in Florida in the past and this is why it was listed in the preview. When you order a report, our system searches through billions of public records and collects...

every piece of relevant information. When the records were retrieved the most current address happens to be in Illinois. PeopleFinders pays for access to this data, so the charge is for us to conduct a search on your behalf, not to return a specific result. We are unable to provide a refund, but we will be happy to offer you a free search to help you find the facts you need. Please review the Terms of Use on PeopleFinders.com if you would like more information about refunds or other policies.

I am rejecting this response because of their clearly deceptive practices. Nothing less than a full refund will be acceptable.

Thank you , we will be calling soon.

PeopleFinders has access to billions of public records, including the most recent and 40-years worth of historical data. This allows us to provide information about most every person or business in the United States. Public records are created from a variety of sources, including phone directories,...

property records, birth and death records, magazine subscriptions and voter registration cards. Although PeopleFinders provides public records, we do not create or modify them in any way. We are only able to display the information provided in each record, so we cannot guarantee their accuracy. New public records are created every day, so PeopleFinders is always able to offer the most up-to-date and accurate information possible; however, this information must be publicly reported by the person. At the time of purchase on 12/8/2014 you chose to receive a discounted price for signing up for a 3 day trial to our Membership. You had the option to cancel this membership trial at anytime via your account manager on the website, via email, or via phone. We did not receive any notification that you wished to cancel this trial. The 3 day trial has ended; therefore, you were charged the membership fee on the fourth day, and for every month thereafter. Per your initial request over the phone on 8/3/2015, and as a onetime courtesy, we have granted one refund for the most current month of membership.  There are no further courtesy refunds available on your account.

We have started the process to have this information removed, please allow 5-10 business days for the opt out to be completed.

I am rejecting this response because: The receipt provided by peoplefinders.com (attached) did not show or inform me that I had committed to an on-going agreement for $29.95 per month. I was never provided an agreement that I executed. What they mentioned must have been buried in their fine print.Yes, I have instructed my credit card company to dispute these charges, but that has no bearing on this complaint. Why would it take Peoplefinders.com several billing cycles as you mentioned in your response, to resolve this minor issue. There should be no delay in resolving this complaint.Thank You.

A trial was purchased on 05/02/17. The trial needed to be canceled not to be billed the $24.95 for the month. We have issued a refund for $24.95 and canceled the membership.

Revdex.com:I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to my concern, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. I have accepted the business response only because it is accurate technically, even though my initial complaint is also valid.  That is, there is indeed a very hard-to-find "disclaimer" on the pages described in the company's response to us that says this:"Includes UNLIMITED contact info, reverse phone lookups, & more. If canceled within 3 days, pay only $2.95 for trial. After the trial, billed $24.95/month."It is the 3rd sentence AND ONLY the 3rd sentence that highlights the reason for my complaint and, I suspect from reading all of the company's other and many complaints, the common customer's confusion.  The customer must take the proactive step to CANCEL or monthly charges of $24.95 continue to be charged regardless of whether or not the customer continues to use the service.  In fact, and this is the most telling aspect of the company's scam, I was billed continually for 13 months when I actually only used the service exactly ONE TIME, during the initial 3-day trial period.    I continue to  believe the company is a less-than-honorable enterprise preying on the very common oversight of customers that they help to encourage by their misleading and virtually disguised wording. But since, technically, I missed the operative fine print, I feel honor-bound to accept their partial refund graciously and terminate any further action in this case. Thanks for your help.

Our records show this has been removed.

There was an extensive background report that was purchased for $11.95 and $.50 to be emailed. There are no further charges received. No refund is due per our Terms of Use agreed to at the time of purchase.

Our terms of use state that our services are not refundable. We charge a fee to provide the public record information.  There are two options when selecting the report. A customer may choose to pay full price for a report or select the discounted price which comes with a trial period of our...

membership. The customer selected the discounted price. They then did not cancel out of the trial period. As we state on the site if you do not cancel within the trial period you will be charged for the membership. We have canceled the membership so that there are no further billings. We do see that the customer called and spoke with our customer care department. We offered a refund to them during that call and they declined our offer, there for we did not issue it. However, we will now refund the $29.95 for the report. We won't be refunding the membership fee. The customer was explained that during the phone call, and our policies are also listed on our website.

The customer received  the reverse phone search that was billed at $3.00 and $.95. The customer also signed up for a basic membership online for $14.98 on 05/19/16. Which was canceled by phone on 05/21/16. The customer is not due a refund since he received the information and signed...
