Premature cancellation of policy, many customer service issues, delay in refund of unauthorized payment.
On March 1, 2018 I purchased a Mazda 5 from Creel motors. I had called two days prior to obtain insurance quotes, and had decided to use Bay Area Auto Insurance who quoted me an insurance policy from Windhaven. I had detailed that I needed 500 comp & collision as per my dealership for my insurance, confirming all the detail with Andy (the insurance agent). He quoted me 183.01 down and 134 a month after I gave him my information, the other drivers information, and the information on the car and the dealerships requirements. When I went in to buy the car, I called Andy to confirm everything, paid the deposit, then was promptly told by my insurance company that he didn't have the 500 comp & collision on there as specified. My deposit went up $74 and my monthly payments went up approx $70 (they fluctuated heavily over the next months). I was informed I could not get my deposit back and was promptly stuck with Windhaven insurance for the next six months.

My first bill in the mail listed my monthly payments as follows: 3/21 $189.67, 4/21 $187.03, 5/21 $184.38, 6/21 $181.73, and 7/21 $179.09.

Throughout the course of my six months with Windhaven they dropped my auto pay twice (once in March and once in June), had mispelled the other driver's name after having received his license photo, and had even dropped my coverage prematurely without my permission (8/21).

In doing so, each time they made a mistake my payments fluctuated heavily until my end payments ended up as (these numbers pulled from my checking account banking statement): 3/27 $223.81, 4/23 $240.54, 6/6 $210.52 (I had asked for a push back on my due date here for May's payment due to another issue), 6/25 $200 (I called to make my payment as the auto pay wasn't reinstated and was informed I didn't owe anything for June, but that for July I owed $400+, I took the initiative and paid approx what my payment was supposed to be to avoid a loss of coverage), 7/30 $204.37, and an unauthorized payment of $217.98 on 8/22.

My policy had been set to expire on 9/1 with my last payment being due on 7/21. During the month of July I had changed agents from Bay Area No Fault Ins to Protect My Car (PMC) agent due to many issue with Andy, my Bay Area ins agent.

During the switch, Windhaven prematurely cancelled my insurance (8/21) and had told me that my payment on 7/30 was a renewal payment for the next six months. I explained I didn't want to renew, had never given permission to renew, and had simply tried to make my payments so I was even with them.

An auto pay on 8/22 came out of my account and I promptly called Windhaven and my ins agent, Sandy, at PMC to get a refund. Windhaven explained I had to wait for them to process my insurance cancellation (they had renewed my policy instead of letting it run it's course), then they would process my request for a refund.

I've called Windhaven to inquire about the refund on 8/21, 8/23, 8/24, 8/27, 8/31 and was told to continue calling that they couldn't even confirm how much the refund would be because they hadn't processed my cancellation yet.

I'm distraught that my monthly payments went up much higher than they were supposed to, that the initial cost of my ins went up higher than it was supposed to, that the customer service has been so poor, that they prematurely cancelled my policy causing issues with my dealership, and that they still haven't resolved refunding the unauthorized payment on 8/22.

Desired Outcome

I'm requesting the refund of the $217.98 from the payment made on 8/22 without permission AT MINIMUM. I would like an additional refund of the difference between what my payments were supposed to be, as per paperwork sent by Windhaven, and what they ended up being. I'd also like Windhaven to have a rating adjustment by the Revdex.com for their poor service.

/I had received two checks from Windhaven to rectify the situation one for $66 (received first) and the other for $178 (received 5 days later).

On 9/6/18 I deposited the $66 check and on 9/10/18 the $66 check had bounced, leaving my bank account negative.

On 9/10/18 I had also received the $178 check, went promptly to Bank of America (the bank the check was written from) to cash it (to avoid a bounce in my account again). This one cashed promptly.

On 9/11/18 I received a call from my banker at Regions that the reason the check had bounced was because Windhaven had put a stop payment on the check.

I promptly called Windhaven, on 9/11/18, to inquire about this. I was informed by an associate that the stop payment had happened because I wasn't owed the $66 check. I asked to speak to a supervisor, and when I spoke with the supervisor I was informed that she didn't have any information on why the check was bounced, that they ***'t put stop payments on checks and the bounce must have been from my institution (Regions).

I promptly let the supervisor know what information I had from their associate, and let them know I'd be calling in two days time to inquire about the status of a new $66 check and that I'd be updating the Revdex.com with this recent issue.

The issue would have been finished, and resolved, had they not stopped payment on the refund check of $66.

Dear Sir:
Please be advised that we have corrected the cancellation of this policy as per Insured's Request and now we are providing coverage up to the expiration date, 9/1/18. The $66.00 represents the cancellation refund and since this policy is no longer cancelled the $66.00 does not correspond to the client.
Please let us know if any other clarification is needed

Customer Response • Sep 17, 2018

While I understand the $66 is due to the issue from when Windhaven prematurely cancelled my policy on 8/21 when it was supposed to run until 9/1, there's still money missing.

The $178 check did not cover the $217 taken by Windhaven after my policy was already cancelled.

When Windhaven was contacted about the remaining difference, they insisted there had been a $39 balance remaining on the policy and that it wasn't going to be refunded.

The $39 is from them, and their agent, messing up my EFT auto pay discount twice in the six months I had insurance with Windhaven. I was informed during two phone calls at the end of August that the underwriters would update my account and that balance would be negated.

Therefore, I'm still waiting on balance of $39 to be returned to me.

Delay on payment of repairs done to vehicle caused by an accident by their policy holder
I was recently rear ended by a driver who holds a policy with Windhaven Insurance.

Windhaven has caused repetitive delays the repairs to my vehicle.

This includes trying to send me a check personally for 1100.00 instead of the body shop of my choosing. They have screwed up 3 damage estimates by writing up wrong parts and labor hours.

Windhaven had tried to force me to pay for myu own rental after admitting liability. They had just recently supplied me a rental in which they are being billed for.

Now my vehicle has been ready for two days after almost two weeks in the shop. Windhaven has delayed payment to the shop and this shop has called them numerous times for payment confirmation. MY claim adjuster forwards them to his voice mail so does his supervisors.

Desired Outcome

Please see to that this is to be investigated and my vehicle paid for by this insurance company

On 08/09/2018, my son was involved in an accident with one of their insured drivers. I have been leaving messages for different supervisors
On 08/09/18, my son was involved in an accident with one of their insured drivers. So they are claiming their insured said he was speed, so they are claiming he is 20 percent at fault. How can he be 20 percent at fault if the insured driver said she backed into him because she couldn't see? And if you couldn't see, how can you tell if he was speeding? They just ***'t want to take full responsibility for their driver. I have been very patient and it's running thin. Then they tell me I would have to be responsible for the rental and they would reimburse me once I return it and get an invoice. I have never heard of such thing. If someone is speeding, how can you tell if you couldn't see and that's why she backed out?

Desired Outcome

They need to take FULL RESPONSIBILITY of their insured driver and pay due my rental. I'm not settling for 20 percent because if someone was speeding, why would you back out? How can you see if

I ***'t accept this response because this is pure foolery. A police was called out and they took the report. Why would I let someone who was not th the driver give their information to a police officer, that would be falsifying a police report. They just ***'t want to say that their driver is completely at fault due to them not wanting to take full responsibility and pay. Also, I never heard of a person paying for their own rental from an accident and then they will reimburse. After looking at the reviews, a lot of customers were stuck out due to them not sending out their reimbursement check. It has been over the amount of time needed and I need my car fixed. I am out of it if money due to me having to pay others and get rentals.

Insurance policy cancellation was requested May 3rd, 2018, along with a full refund for all payments charged since that date.
We have gone back and forth with this company since May 3rd, 2018, which is when we wanted the auto insurance policy cancelled. To this day, the policy has not been cancelled, and have not been refunded for the automatic payment withdrawn in May.

Desired Outcome

Full refund of charges for the month of May, and policy cancellation

I have been waiting for four weeks now for reimbursement for a rental car that I was told I would receive in a timely manner.
T Pick took 6 weeks for the repairs to go through and I was told by the dealer that the repairs could have been completed within 4 days due to them taking so long to get approvals done I had a rental car for 6 weeks the bill came to over $1500 now it's been 4 weeks I have not heard a word back from them I have emailed multiple times as well as called and left voicemails.

Desired Outcome

I am just looking to get my money back it was $1500 for 6 weeks of a rental car.

After filing the complaint I received reimbursement.

Windhaven Insurance is falsely claiming I've been paid. And refuse to send proof even though my lien holder has faxed proof that I was never paid.

Windhaven insurance is refusing to pay me altogether. *** sent me a check I could not deposit. I have a lien on my car. Since she mailed the check to me without telling me I'd have to take it to the lien holder I thought I could cash the check and pay my lien holder off. Which was my true intentions. If you guys refuse to fix the damages to my car the least I could have done was have the lien removed. I tried to deposit the check on 07/02 and on 07/05 Windhaven denied the check. After contacting my lien holder and letting them know what was going on, they told me any insurance company knows you do not mail the check to the person. You mail it to the lien holder because often ppl think they could do it that way so insurance companies clear confusion and send it straight to the lien holder. As a result of Windhaven Insurance denying the check, my bank sent me a legal copy of the check which could be used the same as the original. At that point, I took the check to my lien holder and we both signed the check . My lien holder attempted to retrieve the funds on 07/17. *** claims the check was cashed on 07/20. My lien holder waited until 07/30 and still received nothing. At that point I was told the check would be listed as fraudulent. I contacted *** and Brandi and *** told me as well as my lien holder that she'd be canceling that check and issuing a check to the lien holder as she should have in the first place. We waited two weeks. Mind you, the interest goes up daily. So the longer she takes the more she inconveniences me. And after refusing to fix my car I feel I've been inconvenienced enough. So after the two weeks I contacted her and asked what was the hold up with the check. She told me because I deposited the check into my bank account on 07/02 (even though it's been denied by your bank as of 07/05) that on her end it showed the check had been "cashed". That's not how banks work. First, I never "cashed" the check. If the check had been cashed it would be money in my hand. My lien holder faxed her proof that the funds were in fact NEVER deposited, but denied. My bank is not holding ANYTHING BECAUSE WINDHAVEN INSURANCE NEVER GAVE THEM ANYTHING. When I requested proof from *** I was ignored. She never even had the common curtesy to let me know that she wasn't sending a check. Instead she had me and my lien holder waiting day after day. That's extremely unprofessional. I'd like for a different, more knowledgeable adjuster to be assigned to my case so that we could get it right this time. I'd also like to be paid at least the $500 so that we all could move on. But not paying me at all is not an option. *** has the proof I never received the funds. Yet, she never sent me proof the funds had indeed been "cashed". If it has, which is really impossible it should be easy to send proof. Me and my lien holder both contacted *** and requested to know if the check was "cashed" who has the funds? We are currently waiting, but I have waited long enough. I was hit on May 29 and it is taking Windhaven Insurance too long to pay me. If the check had been cashed on 07/20 then it would have been approved when my lien holder submitted the check on 07/17. Yet, my lien holder waited until the 30th of July and received NOTHING. I believe Windhaven Insurance is screwing me over 100%. They probably requested the funds be returned and are now refusing to pay! *** even called my bank herself and they told her I was NEVER paid. Open an investigation and find out what's going on. It doesn't make sense. Please pay me the money owed to me or pay my lien holder I'm fine with either way. But not being paid at all due to lack of knowledge from your adjuster, will not be accepted. Thank you and I hope to hear from someone soon. Please excuse any typos if there are any.

Desired Outcome

The way this can be resolved is for Windhaven Insurance to pay me or my lien holder. This has gone on too long. If you claim the check was "cashed" where is the money? ***'t lie and you know the check was in fact returned. Pay me or the lien holder so we all could move on. You have proof I've NEVER been paid.

That's funny. It took forever to get this issue resolved. I had to pay an extra 2 months worth of fees because they refused to pay. Yet they wait a day after they FINALLY decided to issue another check to respond to make it look like they try their best to resolve issues. If you're here because you look up companies before you do business with them RUN ! If you are here because you're being messed over like I was I feel for you. But know they are going to do little to nothing to fix your car and they do not allow you to speak to supervisors. I emailed the supervisor constantly and she wouldn't return calls or even a simple email. They know they are shady, so the adjusters are the only messengers. Poor adjusters. ***'t get your hopes up even if you're not at fault. I'm currently driving around with my front bumper hanging off and my car was just fine before I was hit by their insured. Now I have to hope that they sent the check this time and that it actually goes through without issues . Or without them claiming I've been paid when in reality they knew the entire time I hadn't . And were going to try their very best not to pay me at all. You have to bug them for your money! And the adjuster got to a point where she felt she didn't have to message me at all concerning the check because she lied and said she would send another one the first time and she never did! Run. They are not worth it. Listen to the reviews . They have alerts pop up when you type their name in the search bar on the Revdex.com website. I'm not accepting the resolution until I have PROOF this time that the check TRULY CLEARED and the lien is released. I'll be back to let you all know if they got it right this time. All he sent me was proof that he mailed the check. That means nothing to me until the funds are cleared this time.

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
Finally . It's over with.

I filed a claim with Windhaven Insurance after a Windhaven insured driver caused an accident and have not once been contacted by the claims adjuster.
A Windhaven insured driver caused an accident involving my vehicle and was cited by the police department on the morning of Monday, August 13th. After being instructed to call the driver's insurance, Windhaven, I was given a claim number (#CFLXXXXXXXX).
I was told by the Windhaven rep that a claims adjuster would be contacting me within 24-72 hours. I was also given the address of a body shop that underwrites for Windhaven.
I immediately went to the body shop that same Monday morning where they took pictures of the damage.
The week has gone by and I have yet to be contacted by anyone from Windhaven despite calling several times and being told that the adjuster (whose name they gave was Sumner Bukaski) would be calling me. The customer service is atrocious as they would claim a supervisor was never around and they only gave me extensions to the adjuster or supervisor that would disconnect or say not valid! I called back once again and told them the extension they are giving does not work and to please transfer me directly and they said they are not allowed to directly transfer any calls!
Needless to say, Windhaven is the most frustrating, unresponsive company I have ever dealt with. Now it appears my only choice is to go through my insurance company and pay a deductible for something their driver is 100% at fault for and wait for my insurance to go after them or to hire an attorney.
After reading all of the horror stories from Customers and having my own experience, I am baffled how this is a real company.

Desired Outcome

Explanation to why I was never contacted once and for Windhaven to pay for damages caused by their insured driver in a timely manner.

Everyone hates Windhaven and now I know why! Windhaven told me they would cover damages from an accident I was in and then changed their mind
I have been insured with Windhaven for years and never been involved with an accident and paid on time. My car was broken down so I rented a car and got into an accident. I called Windhaven and they said I would be covered even if it were a rental. A week later I was told that because it was a rental car they didn't think they could cover it and a week after that after I reached out to them for an update, I was told that it wouldn't be covered. I tried speaking to a supervisor and also contacting the director and am being given the run around and can also not get a copy of my policy from anyone to see where it states that my rental isn't covered. And I'm not understanding why I received conflicting information.

Desired Outcome

I would like Windhaven to honor my policy and contract and pay for the damages:

Windhaven Insurance Company Response • Aug 19, 2018

To whom it may concern, we are in receipt of your correspondence. The insured's policy has a provision that excludes coverage on rentals, the appropriate denial letter that includes this specific policy language has been sent to the complainant. Thank you for allowing us to respond.

Customer Response • Aug 28, 2018

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The "provision" in my policy that Windhaven speaks of seems to be a general insurance policy that Windhaven borrowed for the sole purpose of not wanting to do their job of paying for damages for their insured (me) and the policy they forwarded is not dated nor signed by me. In fact, it took over two weeks for Windhaven to produce this document and prior to this I had never seen it before. It is NOT part of any policy that I ever signed AND I still have the original policy I signed and it does not include any of the same language as the one in the document Windhaven concocted. Furthermore, I was told that my rental would be covered when I first called and now it seems that this is just an excuse because Windhaven does not want to pay. Also calls to the director and higher ups were never returned.

Windhaven is nothing more than a scam insurance company preying on those who are in desperate need of insurance like I was when I became insured by them years ago. Again, The policy that Windhaven has conjured up I have never seen before, I have never signed and does not even include my name! Furthermore I was originally told that a rental would be covered and then a week later I was told that a rental would only be covered in the event that my car was in need of repairs at the time that I got the rental - which it was. I was then asked for proof of this and as I was about to send proof (a tow receipt) I was then told that even if my car was in need of repairs that my policy wouldn't cover the rental and suddenly there was a clause that I had never seen or heard of before. This is sad! I am looking for a new insurance company at this time and will make sure to spread the word about Windhaven. I'd rather pay the extra money with a reputable agency to make sure I'm actually insured and not just being told that I'm insured. Windhaven you will not be around for much longer with these type of practices!

this company is very unprofessional. You have a hard time getting ahold of anybody unless you wait and listen to the complete cookie cutter voice mail message and get the supervisors number.
When you do they seem clueless to what their employees are up to.
I had an adjuster come look at our car on a Friday, complete loss. The following Monday we had the same adjuster come to the house and he was looking for the car my son hit. (paperwork shows our son in the other car). The same day Richard called me at work and stated that the other driver was not covered and that I needed to find the owner to see if he had insurance. I called HIS supervisor and she stated differently that he was insured and it was his car.
Finally after going through more hoops the total loss adjuster gave us our settlement numbers, and send POA which took more than a week to get to us. in the mean time I contacted HER supervisor and she emailed this to me. we went above and beyond to get this paperwork back to them, we overnighted and certified it. I called to check the status of claim and was emailed and instructed to call Copart to tell them the car was ready to pick up. That is their job.
I called and they picked up the car. I sent email stating the car has been picked up only to get a response stating that once it shows up a Copart they will issue payment. like the tow truck driver is going to be driving around with a wrecked car all around the state.
we called and emailed regarding payment being sent with no response.
I will be glad when this is over accident happened June 26 and we are still waiting for payment.

Windhaven Insurance Company Response • Aug 10, 2018

Mr.
We are in receipt of your correspondence. The total loss settlement check was issued on July 31, 2018 and takes five to seven days for receipt. If you have not received it, please contact us immediately so we can reissue and send the payment via overnight mail to you.
Thank you for allowing us to serve you.

I renewed my car insurance in April of this year and made the down payment and received a schedule of payments due on the 3rd of each month through November, dated 04/20/2018 Then I received a notice on 05/04/2018 with a new payment schedule. I received another payment schedule dated 05/22/2018. Another payment schedule dated 06/21/2018. All these had the payment due date due on the 3rd of each month but, the amounts kept changing and getting higher. I have called each and every month to find out what is going on with my policy and how much I actually owe. Each time I was told that they changed computer systems and it should straighten out soon. I have made payments on or before the 3rd of each and every month and have been cancelled twice even though I made payments of the amount they told me. During one call the customer service rep had someone recalculate my policy to figure out the payments. During this time the due date was changed to the 23rd. I was told that he could not change it back that they will get someone else to change it. I received another letter dated 07/10/2018 with a new payment schedule. My due date was changed to the 21st of the month. Again I called them and now they tell me that they can not change the due date back to the 3rd. This company is not reliable and customer service not doing what they tell me. Their on line site for customers is still not right. I am being cancelled as of 08/02/2018 because the paperwork and the messed up computer system is saying I did not pay for July when I paid the amount due on the 3rd and August payment is on the computer due July 21st.

Desired Outcome

Other (requires explanation) Let other consumers know that this Insurance company has poor customer service and cannot be trusted

I was involved in an accident with a Windhaven insurance policy holder
On July 17 I was involved in an accident with one of their policyholders. On that same date I contacted Windhaven and provided them all the information they needed regarding the accident. On July 20 I took my car to Carolina auto body for repairs. On July 23 Ms. was assigned as the claim adjuster. From that day on I have received no contact from Ms ***. According to her voicemail it states that if a call is made to her after 2 PM she would call back the following day before 11 AM. It also states that if you ***'t receive a call back within that timeframe to call her supervisor Ms *** Ms. has also not return my phone calls. On July 26 Miss *** finally made it to Carolina auto body to take pictures of the damage. After taking the pictures she said that she would have the claim estimate made available to Carolina auto body July 27. It is now July 31 and Carolina auto body has not received any contact from Ms *** or Ms ***. They to have made several attempts to contact them. I would like for the to stop dragging their feet and give Carolina auto body the information they need to repair my vehicle.

Desired Outcome

I want my vehicle repaired or rental vehicle so i can get to and from work.

This is the worst insurance company ever. My daughter is without a car as they deemed it a total loss and they are delaying the process so she could get a new one. My claims adjuster is Tristian Smith whom NEVER answers the phone and it is very unprofessional and her supervisors never answers either. I've tried to contact this company for days at a time only to be on hold with customer service for almost 20 minutes before someone answers to only transfer my call or hang up on me. They are no help at all. It has been 2 weeks and nothing has progressed in my claim. I am paying them over $350 a month for full coverage insurance and they do not offer rental reimbursement. This company if a fraud and has canceled my policy leaving me without insurance for whatever reason. I geneuinely wouldn't mind seeing this company go out of business as they are thieves and like to find any reason to raise your rates.

Desired Outcome

Finish the job! Settle my loss completely !!

Windhaven Insurance Company Response • Aug 07, 2018

To whom it may concern, we are in receipt of your correspondence. Contact has been made with the complainant and a total loss settlement check issued to the lien holder. The policy does not afford rental coverage and as such we are unable to provide a rental vehicle. Thank you for allowing us to respond

I am unable to get an update on the status of my case (#CFLXXXXXXXX) filed through Windhaven Ins. Co. It's been 45 days since the accident.
My son was involved in an accident, in my car, on 6/15/2018. The incident was the fault of Windhaven's client ( as reported in the police report). I contacted Windhaven Ins. Co. to make my claim. I was issued a claim # and adjuster. I corresponded with the adjuster 6/18/18, provided what was asked, my son provided a statement, and we were told we would have to wait until she received a copy of the police report before she would know anything (this was 6/20/18). On June 27, 2018 I was contacted via email that Windhaven was accepting liability for the accident. Short lived settlement because on July 3, 2018 I rec'd a phone call from Windhaven's adjuster stating that due to their client's appearing in court to amend their charges that my case would need to start over. It is true that their client's did have to appear in court on 7/3/18. They were appearing in court due to the criminal charges that they were facing a result of the driver of the vehicle that caused the accident not having a driver's license and for the owner of the car allowing an unauthorized person to drive, Not To Amend the Police Report! I have called the police dept. on a few occasions to see if there have been any amendments to the police report and as of 7/25/18 there have been no amendments. I have also not had any response to my emailed attempts requesting an update and/or my voicemail messages that I have left for the adjuster and her supervisor, although they state they will respond within 24 hrs. It has been 45 days and I ***'t know where my vehicle is (they transported it to a "holding facility"), I ***'t know if they consider it totaled, I ***'t know if they are going to continue to drag this out and refuse their client's liability. Mind you all of this over a $3k car. I cringed at the beginning of this fiasco when I looked up Windhaven's reviews and saw all the horrible reviews. I had hope that they improved their service but unfortunately I will only add to their collection of bad experiences when dealing with their company.

Desired Outcome

I am seeking a fair settlement for repair or replacement of my vehicle due to their client's negligence. I would also like to be reimbursed for having to provide transportation for my son while this case is being dragged out/until settlement is received.

Was promised rental reimbursement only to be at told one payment can be issued while my car is stuck in the shop due to a delay on thier part sending payment. Orginally talk to *** who I had to call and for weeks before being told she was no longer woth the company. Talked to*** and *** who were very rude and unhelpful. I was promised reimbursement and now being told only for a certain amount of days after I have shelled out over $1000 on the rental. Have not received a return call from anyone who I asked to speak with. Horrible business practices will not do as promised. I was severely injured and is on the verge of losing my home.

Desired Outcome

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)

Failure to comply with contract
6/8/18 entered into contract with windhaven. By early July, documents were submitted by myself as directed by said company. Complany failed to upload said documents which ended in cancellation of my policy. I received written notice july 17th of cancellation on July 11th. No calls, emails, etc were received on my end until the cancellation was received via mail.after cancellation of policy, I then had to get an entirely new policy. 1,220 later they then take an additional 610 out of my acct without notice making the total 1,830 in one months time.

Desired Outcome

They still have yet to return the unapproved funds from which they took out of my bank account without prior authorization.

Windhaven Insurance Company Response • Aug 03, 2018

This policy is isted under *** and was issued on 06/08/18. The insured advised the agent that she had 6 months prior insurance so the agent quoted the policy with prior insurance discounts. Our guidelines state in order to be eligible for the proof of prior insurance discounts that proof must be uploaded to the policy. Our underwriting department reviews every policy 5 days after issuance to confirm all documents have been received. On 06/13/18 this policy was underwritten and the prior insurance discounts were removed because proof of the discounts hadn't been received. The premium increased due to the removal of the discounts. On 06/16/18, we sent the insured a monthly invoice due 06/28/18 via email as that is the delivery method she requested. The payment wasn't received so on 06/29/18 a Notice of Cancellation was mailed allowing the insured until 07/11/18 to make the payment. The payment wasn't received so the policy cancelled effective 07/11/18 for non-payment. I see the agent uploaded the missing proof of prior insurance on 07/16/18 but it was too late as the policy was already cancelled. We apologize if the agent didn't upload the proof in a timely manner and will be sending this complaint to our marketing mananger to discuss with the agent. I am happy to see the insured has a new policy with us effective 07/18/18. Thank you!

I am filing a complaint due to poor customer service. Windhaven is dodging my calls and not giving me an opportunity to appeal my payout for mycar.
I have been assigned to ***, Total Loss Adjuster located at P.O. Box XXXXXX Miami, FL XXXXX
Tel: 800.919.9114 Ext 5000 Fax: 888.288.6167. Ms. won't return any of my calls and seem to be dragging this out for as long as she can to not have to pay. She never gave me a chance to accept or decline the offer she just lied and said she was trying to get ahold of me for 10 days, even though I spoke to her the day before and she agreed to give me time to think about the offers she gave me. By not return or answering any of my calls over the course of a month they haven't give me the chance to counter their offer with offers of my own. She has been pressuring me to sign a power of attorney and I ***'t feel comfortable signing it because I haven't even been given the chance to appeal or discuss the payout. They ***'t want to negotiate.

I believe $1,217.50 isn't a fair pay out for my car it was in great condition nothing was wrong with it and it was taken care of beautifully. According to Kelly Blue Book it is worth more. I am the victim of an unfortunate accident; hit by a 15 year old driver, who shouldn't have been on the road. Now I ***'t have any mode of transportation and am forced to rely on others to get to work, go to therapy and see doctors.
With it being almost 3 months since the accident and she has been dodging my calls and not responding to me. I feel like it shouldn't be taking this long. Now almost 3 months later, she is finally sending out the new corrected paperwork that I asked her to resend over a month ago to my correct address, leaving her and voicemails every time I called, along with my attorney calling and faxing her the address information.
For your reference I have a detailed Call Log from the date of the accident, April 25th through July 18th, Police Report, Correspondence via email, USPS, and Road Runner, Kelly Blue Book Value of $2,624.00 and my cell phone calls over the past 3 months.

Desired Outcome

I want to appeal the settlement of my payout. I want to know what their procedures are. I have documentation from Kelly Blue Book to support my appeal. I do not accept their offer and want a fair payout for my vehicle.

Windhaven Insurance Company Response • Jul 30, 2018

To whom it may concern, we are in receipt of your correspondence. At the time of this response, a call has been placed to the Complainant and his attorney requesting the power of attorney, the original vehicle title and a copy of the complainant's driver's license in order to settle the total loss claim. Thank you for allowing us to respond

No Calls Returned
My car was rear ended by your insured. Windhaven wants me to supply them with police report. Calls from my insurance company is not being returned. Adjuster *** communicated that driver is not returning phone calls and father (insured) is not aware of any accident and damages to his vehicle (father and mother came to the accident scene). Also Windhaven claims the customer just have basic insurance and I need to have my insurance fix my car. Driver was ticketed for careless driving.

Desired Outcome

Take care of the charges for my vehicle repair and my medical charges - take responsibility

Windhaven Insurance Company Response • Jul 26, 2018

To whom it may concern, we are in receipt of your correspondence. At this time we have been unable to confirm coverage for this loss as the driver of the insured vehicle involved in this loss is not a listed driver on this policy. We are continuing in our efforts to reach out to the named insured in order to obtain a permissive use statement and clear coverage for this loss. Thank you for allowing us to respond.

I was told my refund of $185 was going to be back in my hands in 20 days. It it over due by a couple days.
I went through an insurance agency by the name of UniVista and they recommended Windhaven insurance. I was looking to have bodily injury and liability. I never signed any documents and the policy was started without my permission. On top of that, my policy was started without bodily injury so the rate increased way out of my budget which forced me to cancel. I canceled on 06/20/2018 and today is now 07/16/2018. I was told by a Windhaven insurance supervisor, ***, that the policy would be canceled within 48 hours if I had the necessary documents sent over by Univista. I had the correct documents sent over that same day and when I had called the next day to insure that the policy would be canceled, I was told by another representative that it would take 3-5 days to cancel and another 10-15 days to receive the money. Winhaven Insurance has been very unprofessional in handling my policy, money, and time. They also take over 40 minutes to answer my calls. it has been 23 days since my cancellation and was told it would take a maximum of 20 days.

Desired Outcome

I would like to receive the $185 that was fraudulently taken and was promised to have within 20 days.

I can't get my refund for them overcharging me.
I was quoted $255.88 a month for my car insurance. They took out over $700 out in June, and $700 out of my bank account in July. I have been trying to get a refund from them for 2 months now and they keep giving me the run around. Telling me 3 to 5 days every time I call.

Desired Outcome

Give me the money the stole from me.

Windhaven Insurance Company Response • Jul 23, 2018

On 04/13/18, Ms. was quoted $255.88 monthly but we did not receive correct and complete information which resulted in an increase in premium. The insured's policy received a discount for receiving her documents via email delivery but did not provide a valid email address to her agent. The email on file was ***@GMAIL.COM so her discount was removed. Ms. signed the Applicant's Statement on the application which states, " If the Company determines that any such information is inaccurate or incomplete, and if I am notified of any additional premium based on
accurate and complete information, I agree to pay such additional premium according to the directions in such notice."

We properly notified the insured of the increase in monthly installments but because she gave a fake email address she did not receive the Revised payment schedule that generated.

On 05/17/18 we received a valid email and made an exception to give her the credit back to inception so her rate would return back to the originally quoted premium. The insured has received a credit of $568.80 and at her request it was applied to the balance of her policy. Her 06/13/18 payment of $682.98 was credited back to her credit card. The policy has been corrected and her premium has been updated.

Windhaven followed procedures but the agent should have advised the insured that a valid email address was required to receive the rate she was quoted. Our marketing department has been informed of the complaint and will discuss the mistake with the agent to prevent this from happening again.
