Worthy.com Reviews (%countItem)

The whole experience was extremely slow. It took over a month from the time I shipped my wedding ring to them to begin the auction. Be aware that they will ask to remove your diamonds from the setting to be inspected (not sure why as I have had the ring appraised twice and they never had to do that), if you say no they will not proceed. I got $986 for a ring I paid over $5000 for. Very little communication. Bots texting and emailing, no real human response. Questionable "auction", it all seemed a little fake to me. But I took the money. I guess it's better than sitting in my jewelry box, never to be worn again. Just don't expect much and you won't be disappointed.

The experience with Worthy was subpar at best. The timeline was nothing as they explained. I am happy to have received my diamond back.
Now, five months later, they have contacted me requesting I ship my diamond back to them because they have interested bidders. However, the diamond they outlined in their email to me is not my diamond. Would NOT recommend them.

The seller, Paula S. did submit a ring to Worthy in Sept 2017, of which upon auction completion, she requested the ring be returned, of which Worthy shipped back to her, with confirmed signature of receipt of her item in Oct 2017. On Jan 25, 2018, 16:30 EST, Paula S. created a new submission, via the Worthy online submission form for a new ring, and inputted the details, see below of her submission, of which we have an online record with a corresponding user/google id: She inputted, her name and the information listed below:

A Worthy customer representative reached out via email on 2/7/18 to inquire about her 1/25 submission and offer assistance and explain the process. The diamond outlined and discussed was the item inputted by the customer on 1/25/18, the most recent submission. The customer asked that the item be aborted, of which Worthy cancelled the submission on 2/7. Worthy was responding to a customer submission and was being proactive, reaching out to offer assistance and respond to any questions the customer may have had. The entire communication on the part of Worthy is prompted by the customers most recent submission on 1/25/18.

Customer Response • Feb 08, 2018

Please note Worthy never mentioned their timeline and how delayed the process was when they told me it's a seven-day process. Also, the 1/25/18 account was NOT submitted by me and has been turned over to management at Worthy. Hence, another problem with Worthy.

I called these people and inquired about their service. I gave the man specifications of my jewelry, from appraisals, and he gave me rather elevated valuations of what I could get fr the pieces. I agreed to send them in. Upon arrival htey tol me that the pieces woudl be evaluated and a new optimal price generated. I was also asked to sign an agreement saying that I absolved them of all damages due to them taking the jewelry apart (which was mandatory as they really just sell the stones and not the intact jewelry). They assured me that they would take great care. First, the valuations came out much lower than what was given by phone. They had the information from the appraisals, so there should have been no discrepancy. When they went to 'auction', I was expected to sell the ppieces for literally pennies on the dollar, and give them a 20% commisssion for doing so. I demured and hey sent the jewelry back. When I received it back, one diamond ring had a substantially altered stone, which now has a large chip out of the top . Among the pieces was a high end necklace of tanzanite and diamonds. The 'chain' was a series of basket set tanzanite stones, set in white gold and accented with diamonds. The 'chain' was 24" long. When I got it back, the 'chain' was now only 20" long. The salseperson had remarked that the piece was beautiful and I said something about the chain being a series of gemstones and not just a chain and, because it was so long, I had thought of taking some out of the length and making a bracelet with it. I should have shut my mouth as apparently that is what they did. The original appraisal has the number of tanzenite stones and it would be a simple matter to compare the piece as it is now to the appraisal but I let it go. The now - cloudy center stone of my diamond ring, and the rather large chip out of it are another matter but still, I have no proof, except for the original appraisal.
Not only did I need the money and was looking forward to the prices quoted, but when I declined their pennies on the dollar 'offer' and got the jewelry back, it was altered. what I received back was not what I sent in. I now cannot sell the diamond ring. Be very wary and take pictures before you send your jewelry in. The people are nice but it's not a good idea to trust them.

This customer review is dated 2/1/2018. She submitted her jewelry items to Worthy on April 6th 2017 and asked for Worthy to return the items submitted, which Worthy returned to her attention on May 1, 2017. Nine months have elapsed since her initial submission of her items for auction with Worthy. All of her items were returned with the 3rd party grading reports from both IGI and GIA. Each grading report identifies the stones characteristics, and shows the condition of each stone at the time of review, in this case, the grading reports are dated April 2017. Each item was returned having been professionally cleaned with grading reports. The Worthy auction works to get the sellers the resell value of their jewelry. Appraisal value is typically a retail value for insurance purposed only and should not be confused with a resell value of an item. Similar to car prices, the retail value and the kelly blue book resell value are two different values. In this case, for this client, all her items were successfully returned to her as received within 30-days of her submission in April 2017. Worthy can not reply on the state of the condition of her items during this elapsed time since we returned them over 8 months ago. We can show from receipt in to the return of all items, but not after May 2017 when they were in her possession.

I worked with a young man named Josh and he was very professional. He followed up like he said he would and made the process so easy. Hesitant at first but he and Mel eased my worries. I would highly recommend Worthy.

Thank you for sharing your experience with Worthy with the readers of Revdex.com. The Worthy team is a dedicated group of people, men and women, who care about each and every seller that comes to Worthy. Our team of customer success agents work to make the process of selling your jewelry not only easy, but we educate you so you know what you have and can make the best decision when it comes to selling your jewelry. Worthy works with industry renowned Labs: GIA, GSI, IGI, to provide you with a grading report. Knowing the actual characteristics of your diamond is imperative to establishing the value range of your ring. Worthy provides an online auction platform where competitive bidding occurs, so every seller has the advantage of getting multiple bids from our professional buyer community. We are glad you found the process easy and the team kept you informed every step of the way. Thank you for recommending Worthy.

When my husband and I separated, he wanted me to buy him out of our house. I couldn't bear the thought of losing my home, so I decided to sell my ring to help offset the costs. My jeweler suggested Craig's List. After only being contacted by scammers, I was left frustrated and scared, so I decided to do some more research. That's when I found Worthy. I had never heard of them or any company that performs the same service, so sending them my ring was a true leap of faith. They exceeded my expectations! I had been offered a certain amount by a local jeweler, and when my auction was over, the final price was slightly less than that. I asked Worthy to please send the ring back. The next day, they called me to say they had gone back to the winning bidder and asked them to match the local jeweler's price, which the bidder did. I really wish I had know about them in the beginning and didn't have to feel that sending them my ring was a 'leap of faith'. Everyone at Worthy was helpful and, even more importantly, kind during a time when women find themselves very vulnerable and afraid. I would highly recommend Worthy!

Thank you for your review and sharing with other customers interested in selling their ring, your positive experience. Worthy works with clients every single day, and our goal is to provide a easy, accessible, trustworthy solution for selling your diamond jewelry that is transparent as well a friendly and supportive experience. Our online auction solution is unique in the marketplace and brings a community of vetted professional buyers virtually to you, enabling competitive bids from jewelers across the county that ultimately gives you the opportunity for higher bids than just your local store. Many stores only do trade-in's or consignment, which also doesn't allow you to review the money directly for your jewelry. Once your ring is sold thru the Worthy auction your money is sent via ACH, check or Paypal to you, so that, like you were able to do, save your home. We are so glad that by using Worthy you were able to stay in the home you love. Thank you for sharing your story. The Worthy Team

The Worthy team is a dedicated team of men and women who take great pride in delivering outstanding customer service. Our goal is to provide each and every seller with the real facts about their jewelry and in so doing work with industry renowned labs such as the GIA, Gemological Institute of America, to provide you the seller with a grading identification report so you can accurately know what you have. Working with the Worthy auction managers helps you set the auction minimum so that you remain in control and can decide the best trending market value for your item. Thank you for sharing your experience with others who may be interested in selling with Worthy. The Worthy Team

I would avoid Worthy. I was enticed to spend my time and send them a wedding set for auction based on their recent online response valuing the main diamond in the set in a certain range (and not even considering the 18k gold bands and channel diamonds in the setting). The GIA certificate Worthy obtained and my original GIA certificate from 20 years ago were consistent. Then, when it was time to put the set up for bid today, Worthy's sales associate recommended a sale price that was significantly less than their original estimate two months ago of the resale value of the 1.4 carat princess cut diamond alone. From this, I get a very strong impression that they are just into selling the jewelry to their list of retail clients irregardless of what the merchandise is truly worth and to the financial disadvantage of the sellers. I told the associate that I will not accept a bid that is lower than about 40% of what I paid for the set and she said it would never sell for that amount. I expect I will get the wedding set back from Worthy and sell it myself. That's fine, but Worthy should not create false expectations by giving estimates online that are not in line with what they truly expect that they will be able to sell a ring for to their own customer base of buyers. It seems to me to be like a bait and switch deal here.

Worthy.com Response • Jan 15, 2018

Worthy evaluates first based on the sellers online submission, which is based on what the seller inputs as the characteristics of the diamond. In the clients case, Worthy gave an initial trending market range of $2727 to $3334. Once the ring was newly reviewed by GIA and a new report was issued the differences in the submission vs the report were clear. The diamond the seller submitted was inputed with a carat weight as 1.42, Color as I and Clarity as VS2. The new GIA Report stated the Carat weight is 1.41, J Color (2 grades lower), VS2 Clarity. GIA also stated there are chipped corners on the diamond. These factors, are important when determining the value of a diamond. The GIA certificate allowed us to accurately determine, represent and reflect the value of the clients' diamond. Regarding the chips in the diamond, diamonds do get chipped with wear, and this is taken into establishing the resell market value. The seller received a final bid offer that reflected $3274 or 98% of the initial submission offer. The seller accepted the final bid offer on 1/15, 5 days after he posted to Revdex.com. He is in receipt of his payment for $3274 less the 20% success fee. Worthy is an honest and transparent company and delivers the current facts to every seller so every seller knows exactly what they own and can make an accurate decision to sell.

I sent in my wedding ring and had it graded. I got the report back and it isn't my ring. My ring is white gold with 1 ct center diamond and this ring shown is yellow gold with .80 ct center stone. Now I'm worried they swapped mine out or mixed it up and I won't get MY ring back. I'm thinking this company is a scam that swaps out diamonds and rings to pocket money. I'm not sure what to do so I've requested my ring be returned. I guess we'll see what I get back.

Worthy.com Response

Worthy has been speaking with this client directly. Her ring was purchased at ***'s and as many stores market themselves, sell their rings by total carat weight, and not by the center stone ct weight. This is exactly the case here. Worthy gets an impartial 3rd party grading report, and the center stone for this clients ring was .8 ct wt and the remaining weight is in the smaller stones. *** also plates their rings and when we cleaned the ring for photography, the plating is rubbed off in spots. *** confirmes this, and would offer her a trade-in value for the ring. Since Worthy is an auction platform, our goal is our clients goal, and that is to sell at the best price for the client and get them the money so they can move on to new opportunities. Worthy is working with this seller to sell her ring vs. the trade-in offer from ***.

I was a bit leery at first about sending my two rings to Worthy but after speaking with them, I felt confident I was dealing with a reputable company!
They have exceeded my expectations! From sending the rings to being kept up almost daily on where my rings were...GIA, IGI, etc. The rating were accurate and quick.
I have already sold one ring and am waiting on the rating for the other. The first ring went on auction and they guaranteed me a price they would pay whether or not it sold at that price. Well, it sold below the price, BUT they kept there promise and are sending me a check for the amount they guaranteed!!! WOW...I felt like a first class citizen!
Worthy is amazing and I highly recommend them if you would like to sell your diamond ring!

We researched Worthy prior to dealing with them (as anyone should). Worthy went above and beyond to make our auction sale a good experience. They stayed in constant contact with information and updates. They were always ready to answer questions and help in any way possible. Our item sold for far more than the Worthy estimate. I would not hesitate to use this service again.

I am absolutely horrified that the Revdex.com can give this company an A+ rating. The only reason I trusted them was the Revdex.com rating which I regret.
I recently sent a piece of jewelry to them with the intention of selling it. They provided an initial estimate of the value at $9,862 which agreed with my appraisal and grading paperwork. They requested permission to unmount the stone in order to obtain a GIA grading certificate which I granted.
After several days I received an email "Upon our arrival inspection, our gemologists found that this stone has a cavity (a tiny hole) on the surface." which is not true and even their paperwork does not say it.
They then proceeded to send my ring to International Gemological Information NOT GIA as they had said when I agreed to send my ring. A couple days later they came back with a value of the ring at $1,300. When I reviewed the paperwork I found that IGI did not provide a grading report at all. They sent an Identification Report which clearly stated it was for Identification not grading. The report even indicated "Grading as mounting permits". The report said nothing about a "cavity" which if that was true they surely would have mentioned it in their report if IGI was reputable.
At that point I notified them that I wanted my ring returned and I wanted it insured for the value $9,862 because I had documentation proving that value and I rejected their "Identification Report" as an accurate valuation of the ring. Unfortunately I had to demand the return of the ring several times over the next few days before they actually acknowledged that it would be returned. I gave them specific instructions not to ship the ring unless it was insured for $9,862 and I even offered to pay for the insurance if they refused. They sent several emails assuring me the ring would be insured for $9,862.
I requested a copy of the insurance certificate before it was sent but they did not provide one. Thankfully the ring did arrive safely and appears to be OK but included in the package was a packing list that indicated an insured value of $1,685 although they never did prove that it was insured at all.

Worthy.com Response

Worthy sincerely apologizes to *** and has reached out directly to speak with him and address the issues that he has stated. Worthy takes his comments very seriously. We understand that his experience was not optimal and as a company we are already making the appropriate updates to our process to clarify and communicate more effectively with our sellers. While Worthy clearly acknowledges its errors, as an agile and responsible business, we are quick to make the changes required to build a better customer experience for our customers. For example, clearly stating the correct terms we recognize is important: IGI issues Jewelry Identification Reports which is their proprietary name for reviewing jewelry in their original settings; while GIA issues a Grading Report for diamonds which are loose/un-mounted. Consumer confidence is of utmost importance to us at Worthy. We are proud to be accredited and rated by the Revdex.com, and like them, we uphold the values of transparency, honesty, and responsible business practices. We care about each and every customer and appreciate ***'s comments. Thank you, The Worthy Team

No one is compelling me to write this review. I do so of my own volition. My experience with Worthy in a word, amazing! I sold my watch with the company but I was initially filled with angst. First: that I was selling an important and emotionally significant timepiece and second: that I was selling it with an unknown––at least to me––entity. Well all of my concerns were allayed. The professionals at Worthy were on top of the matter from start to finish. This is the only company I would use to sell an expensive item. Thanks Worthy for your efficiency and your professionalism.

Worthy.com Response

Although I was skeptical to work with Worthy in the beginning, I have to say I had a great experience. The staff was kind and helped answer all of my questions. Everything from start to finish was simple. They paid for the shipping, insurance, and the final payment went smoothly. I would recommend using Worthy when selling your ring.

Worthy.com Response

Worthy takes great pride in being the trusted online solution for selling diamonds and jewelry. Wow! This was the best auction experience I’ve ever had. I put my rings in a box, put the *** label on and dropped it in a box. They kept me up to date on what was going on and asked me questions along the way to make sure that I understood what was going on. If ever I find myself in need of selling anymore jewelry, I will use Worthy.

Josh R helped me out throughout the process of selling a very nice solitaire diamond wedding ring. He was courteous, got back to me quickly the few times I had a question. I would recommend Worthy Inc. for anyone wanting to sell nice jewelry. This company took care of everything...with permission from me, they unmounted it, professionally cleaned it, professionally photographed it, and submitted it to auction. They grades the diamond before the auction also. I got more money than what I anticipated. Thanks so much Josh.

Worthy.com Response

Worthy works with the GIA for unmounted diamond grading. Stephen M, director of corporate communications at the GIA’s world headquarters in Carlisbad, Calif., says, " for anyone making a gemstone jewelry transaction — buying or selling — having a GIA report, which scientifically describes the characteristics of the gems, can give customers a lot more confidence in the transaction." By working with GIA, Worthy's sellers can be assured that they are getting the most accurate account of their diamond and that enables the buyers from across the country to bid online with confidence, making the auction process very competitive. We are glad that *** used Worthy to sell his jewelry and found the process to be a safe and easy one to use. Thank you for using and recommending Worthy.

Nice reps, but a poor process. Never knew what was going on beyond emails that went to SPAM.
Need a timeline on the account page that explains what has, and will, occur.
Ended up getting MUCH less than discussed in intro phone call.
Felt taken advantage of, especially when the wedding ring was such a personal item.
Never again!

Worthy.com Response

Worthy very much takes these concerns and suggestions seriously. As an agile company we are invested in continuous improvements and will be acting upon the suggestions. The timeline on the account page is an excellent one. Selling a cherished ring is emotional, and we understand that the current market resell value needs to be understood. This article found on smartasset.com is a helpful one:

I just finished the process of selling my ring with Worthy. Although I sold it for less than I originally expected, I realized my expectations we based on what we paid for it. I always thought diamonds appreciated!

Process was fairly straight forward and my rep educated me about the resale market.

Worthy.com Response

The majority of our clients were not the ones who purchased their rings, and now when they are looking to sell their ring, it is very important to know the actual characteristics of the ring. Worthy makes selling secure and risk free and provides GIA/GSI diamond grading, along with professional HD photographs. Worthy has curated a very strong network of buyers who bid via the Worthy auction platform allowing for competitive bidding that encourages fair value. Our dedicated client success managers assist sellers and help explain every step of the way. As a seller with Worthy, you remain in control. We are delighted that we could assist GIna with selling her ring and getting her the fair market value to help her move forward.

I worked with Worthy about two weeks ago to sell my wedding and engagement rings from a previous marriage. The experience was very easy and stress free. Worthy handled everything for me and gave me a minimum even though my ring didn't sell for as much as I had hoped for. I really loved doing business with them. They were courteous and professional and really top notch!!

Worthy.com Response

At Worthy we work with women every day to help sell their rings with trust and transparency, providing all the facts of their rings so they can make the right decision when they are ready to sell their rings. Best of luck as you pursue your new opportunities. Worthy
