I sent a diamond ring into be auctioned, but then I changed my mind. I got my ring back, and there used to be a black speck of like pepper in it. The diamond I got back is missing the speck. I have had two jeweler's see this same speck prior, as well as the previous owner. I believe that my diamond was switched. I am not happy at all with the one they sent me back.

The clients ring was sent to IGI for grading. IGI grading does not unmount the diamond. Her diamond was professionally cleaned and graded as a mounted ring by IGI. Every item received into Worthy is done so under camera and recorded every step while being preparing for auction. Ring images are attached. Images show the professionally cleaned ring graded by IGI and the IGI grading report. #5 shows the ring as originally received in. This ring was sent back cleaned to the client and is the exact same ring, never unmounted, returned professionally cleaned back.

I am extremely unhappy with ***. I was given a range of $4-6K for my diamond ring, and told that when they graded it it may go down 1 color range since my grading from EGL was quote on quote a "scam". I sent my diamond in and once, they graded it, it came in 4 colors lower than what my paperwork shows. They also suggested my auction be $1,300. I was very unhappy and asked to have my item sent back asap. This was on 9/*/17 and I was told it takes 5-7 business days to get back to me since it had to be remounted. I called on 9//17 to check in, and was told that they haven't done anything because I needed to confirm my address and they had sent me an email about it. I told the agent this was INCORRECT, the last email the sent me was saying I only needed to respond with an address if it was different than the one they had on file already. I'm using the same address, so I didn't reply to the email. The agent told me "oh yeah our system has the wrong email logged, I will check on your ring and follow up with you TODAY". She never contacted me again. I called this morning and after 15 minutes on hold, was told my ring is still not ready and they have no estimate, even though today 9//17 would be 7 business days since 9/*/17. I was told it won't be 7 business days and whoever said that was wrong. If YOU made a mistake with your system, I should not have to suffer the consequences of it. I am truly disappointed in this whole experience from the ring grading, customer service, and lack of knowledge amongst employees. Obviously I am selling this ring for a reason, and I would love to have it done asap, but now they won't send it back to me and I am stuck. I would not recommend sending your ring here. I read reviews before I sent mine, and really was hoping for a different outcome than this has turned out to be.

Worthy works with GIA, the industry standard for grading diamonds, so that the diamond is graded by an unbiased 3rd party. Once the grading is done, the client sets her minimum price and the diamond goes to auction. The client can accept the bid or not. In this case, the client was not pleased and Worthy returned her ring, insured and mailed back to her with a confirmed receipt on 9/.

Am shocked at the low ball appraisal on my ring. I should have known that this was too good to be true.. How can a 1.50 ct princess cut diamond set that originally cost $5,000 be value at $300?? I feel like a fool ...

Worthy.com Response

Understanding the resale value can be a huge shock, especially when the retailers promote the total ct. weight vs. the individual stone weights. This was the exact case here, the total ct. weight was inputted for the estimation as 1.50 when the value is actually not based on the total weight but on each individual stone. We explained this to the seller and she understood completely and has retracted her comment here. Thank you. The Worthy team.
