IMMEDIATE ATTENTION NEEDED*
I sent in (11) pieces of "one-of-a-kind" jewelry to Worthy on the premises that if I didn't like the asking price, my items would be returned.
I sent in the items on 8//19 and as of last Thursday 9//19, I was given prices that Worthy would guarantee me if the auction did not bring a price I liked. Yesterday, 9//19, I AGREED to only (4) of these pieces being placed into auction requesting the other (7) pieces be returned. I was told that ALL my items HAD to go through auction and my "jewelry box" had to be settled all at one time, I told her I DID NOT want the other (7) items going into Auction but she pressured me to give her a "price" I would take if a buyer offered close to it, THEN if I did not want to sell, I did not have to. I DO NOT WANT THESE ITEMS GOING THROUGH AUCTION. "NO means NO". I am TERRIFIED these items are going to come up "missing" during this auction process and I am desperate to have them REMOVE these items. The auction is occurring TODAY and I don't care what is offered, I want those (7) pieces returned now!

H***,

We understand your concern and apologize for any confusion that may have arose. As you stated you only wanted to proceed with a few of the items to auction, the rest of the items you submitted, per your request, have been shipped via *** fully insured and confirmed receipt back to you. Worthy is currently proceeding with the items you would like auctioned at this time. Thank you. The Worthy Management Team

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

Sincerely

This place was a sick joke ...
They don't even deserve one star!
I am going through a divorce and I wanted to sell an anniversary ring that I no longer needed, and at the very least I thought I could try to at least break even (I paid $2,500). I looked around different sites and the most impressive and they were quite efficient and informative. The process was to provide them with as much information about the piece of jewelry and from that they will assess if it’s worth sending it or not.
I provided the following information:
Vera Wang 14 WG
1.8 CT diamond with sapphire
NOTE: this retails for $3,300
They then asked for pictures of the ring, which a few days later I did and I sent over to them the pictures.
After that, Worthy within a few minutes sent me a *** shipping label and told me that the ring would be insured $100,000 for protection, etc. This took place during the three day weekend of Labor Day. My ring shipped out on Friday, August 30 and they had received it Tuesday, September 2nd. Then by September 4th I get an insulting message saying that my ring wasn’t a 1.8 CT but that it was a 0.5 CT and that it is worth only $500. It was at this point that a fear just entered in my mind, and that fear was that they switched the diamond. They replaced my 1.8 CT with a 0.5 CT and then tell me that they couldn’t find “willing buyers” to buy my ring that was only worth to them $500.
My reply to that was in an email as follows; I titled it on the subject line “Is this some kind of sick joke??” Here is what I wrote:
I just received an email telling me that the ring I bought at a prominent jewelry store either are scamming people to pay ridiculous prices for a diamond that according to Worthy.com isn't worth what *** diamonds are?
The email from Worthy proceeded to tell me that my 1.8 CT is actually a 0.5 CT and it is only worth $500. Really!!?
It is insulting that you would have such a process. You asked me what kind of ring it was in the beginning - I gave you all the basic details.
1. Vera Wang collection
2. Diamond - 1.8 CT
3. Sapphire
4. White gold
My receipt retails it at $3,300!!!!!
So whom ever you have as a "gemologist" Please get another one, unless this is your game. Tricking people into sending their precious belongings that due to a certain need one has to get rid of it, you then play with the emotions of the people and crush them by replacing the diamond and saying that its worthless?
What am I supposed to believe now, that you will return my same exact ring?
Its okay, I have *** signature image and as soon as it's sent back to me, I'll confirm its validity.
This is a horrible company, and the games you play on people is despicable... I'm going through enough, now to have to deal with this nonsense.
Please feel free to call me - xxx-xxx-xxxx PST.
Their response (on September 5th) was as follows:
Hi ***,
I completely understand where you are coming from, and it seems like there has been some confusion. The ring you purchased is quite likely 1.8 CTW which stands for carat total weight, which would mean all of the diamonds in the ring total to 1.8 CT which is often how rings as sold in retail, whereas the center stone of your ring is 0.5 CT. Whenever items arrive, we use the center stone to identify them which is why your item would be labeled as 0.5 CT. In the resale market, most buyers are interested in the center stone of a ring and that is where about 80%-90% of the value will come from, so with a center stone at 0.5 CT, there will not be a heavy demand for rings like that on our platform. In the retail market, items are often heavily marked up to account for profit that the jewelry stores makes, and to include costs that the jewelry store had to pay in order to get the item there. In the resale market, the value of piece is solely dependent upon the rarity and demand in the market for pieces like it, so the retail or purchase price of the item usually does not have much to do with the resale value you can expect. Depending on the kind of deal you got when it was purchased, we typically see that clients can expect about 20%-30% of the purchase price.
Additionally, we would never want to offend any of our clients which is why we send this preliminary email to be as transparent as possible. I am sorry if we have done anything that has offended you, as that would never be our goal. In order for us to start the return process for your item we will need to confirm your return address over the phone for security reasons. Please let me know when a good time would to call, and I will have Kayla from our Quick Sale department reach out. Please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns.
Thank you,
Kendall V

This information WAS NOT PRESENT IN THEIR WEBSITE, why? If that were the case, I would most likely have taken a better chance with a pawn shop! I then asked for my ring back, and then I provided my home address that same day. Then by September 9th I haven’t heard or received any update on my ring, so I emailed again on September 11 where they replied back asking for signature requirement, to which I then provided my work address. Today now the 16th of September, and no update as of yet.
This whole experience has been a nightmare, and I truly fear and believe that they have done something to my ring. Why else would they have taken so long in returning what is mine back to me? Therefore my belief here is that “WORTHY” lures people who have valuables takes their product and switches out the actual value (in this case the diamond) for a less valuable one, then tells the would be client that it is worthless, thus insulting the person as a consumer.

Worthy.com Response • Oct 04, 2019

First and foremost, we want to apologize if you feel this way, as we never want to offend any of our clients. Our goal is to be transparent with you and inform you of the characteristics of your ring. The ring you purchased at a Retailer is a 1.8 CTW which stands for carat total weight, which would mean all of the diamonds in the ring equal a grand total of 1.8 CTW. You ring is a 3 stone princess cut ring with the largest diamond set in the center equaling 0.5 CT.
Per your request to not accept the offer, Worthy returned your ring, fully insured to you and we have been in touch directly to confirm receipt and answer any additional questions you may have about your ring. Our goal is to be fully transparent and share with you the resale value of your ring.

I had a wonderful experience with Worthy. Service is extremely organized and smooth, also hassle free.
Updates are frequent, quests are answered quickly.
I would recommend them to anyone wanting to sell unused jewelry.
They ship, appraise and sell it for you.
I truly appreciate excellent service .

Gail B: excellent , understanding, Josh and Madeline helpful as well .

Worthy helped me sell my engagement ring and I sincerely appreciate the entire team helping me with the process. They were always friendly and very helpful. Josh R was particularly professional and courteous. He was willing to answer all of my questions- multiple times. He provided a trusting foundation for me to lean on throughout the closing of the sale of my ring. He ensured I had a great experience and truly went above and beyond to secure that. Absolutely outstanding Auction Manager. Worthy is fortunate to have him!

I sent my 2 ct. ring into Worthy for them to auction for me. We did not reach an agreeable price for me so I asked for them to send the ring back.

Upon return, the ring was gone from the package. I worked with the Worthy team's Operation Manager and VP of Operation on resolution. At first they were responsive and I gave them all the information I could. Police reports were filed and they stopped responding. They claimed they would file a claim with their insurance but I have not heard a peep from them for over a month.

Hi ***,

We would very much like to speak with you. I see that we have not been able to connect yet. May we schedule a time for a call to discuss next steps. Thank you.

I am completely satisfied with the service I received from Vik at Worthy. The Clarity of my ring came back from GIA very low. Thus the value that I thought I had was not there. However, Vik walked me through the process. He took the time to explain every single thing about my diamond and setting. He was in communication with me every day. I knew where we were in the process at all times. He even gave me his personal cell phone number to which I was able to contact him whenever I had a question. He handled all my inquiries with patience and professionalism. He always got back to me immediately. He absolutely got me the most money that I could’ve gotten for the ring. Thank you Vik for the excellent customer service!!!

I shipped a Chaumet Josephine Eclat Floral ring to Worthy for auction on June . The ring was bought ~2 years ago with purchasing receipt (price euro 21,000) attached to the ring and original box with it. Auction did not meet my reserve price so asked the ring to be shipped back. Till today, July , despite multiple email follow ups, phone call, and confirmation from Worthy representatives on the phone. The ring was still not shipped back to me. And Worthy's staff told me on the phone that they had lost all my original papers.

Worthy.com Response • Aug 16, 2019

Worthy has been in direct contact with the client and Worthy will be providing a new GIA report which has been mutually agreed upon. Thank you.

Melissa was absolutely amazing to work with. I forwarded a number of pieces and received more for them than anticipated. I would highly using Worthy, and would definitely use them again.

Professional and swift! THANKS Melissa M for a great job done!

Service was fantastic and Josh R walked me through the whole process and explained each step. He's a go getter and will do everything possible to get you a great price. Josh was exceptionally nice, polite and helpful. Enjoyed the experience!

Complete waste of time. They say you can expect 40-60% of what you originally paid for the item. What they offer you is less than 10%. I have a flawless bridal set that was originally $8850.00 and they appraised it at $781.00. Don’t waste your time. They are just looking to rip you off. Then they will take weeks and 10+ calls to actually get the item shipped back. It sounded like a good idea but it’s a scam.

Worthy.com Response • Aug 13, 2019

Hi ***,
Worthy is a business built on transparency, trust and accessibility and provides a full service experience that includes authenticating your diamond. Your ring was evaluated with the GIA and received a GIA grading report #***, which states the diamond as L color, VVS2, good.
The diamond you submitted is not a flawless stone as you state. All our auctions are based on the actual characteristics of each piece. L color diamonds are defined by GIA as having a "faint" yellowish color which is a lower color grade compared to a colorless, flawless stone.
As an online marketplace for reselling pre-owned diamond jewelry, watches and estate jewelry valuables, Worthy is directly aligned with you to get you the best offer based on the true characteristics of your diamond. Our goal is your goal, getting you the best price in the market today.
You set your reserve price at $4000.00, and did not accept the highest bid. Worthy proceeded to confirm your ship back address and remount the stone and shipped your ring, fully insured, back to you within 7 business days from your request to ship back your ring.
Worthy is a very successful jewelry resell auction marketplace conducting hundreds of auctions every day, and receiving outstanding reviews from sellers happy to know we are helping them learn what they have and sell using the Worthy auction platform.

Complete waste of time. Inaccurate representation of value- back.

Worthy.com Response • Aug 13, 2019

We value your time and we dedicate our time to help you learn what your item is by reviewing and evaluating each and every diamond piece submitted. We believe in accuracy and work with 3rd party grading labs such as GIA and IGI to get a grading report that details the specifics of each piece. It is with this accurate information coupled with 360 images that the marketplace buyer bid. The bidding is competitive and allows you the opportunity for multiple buyers to see your piece, allowing you to see the bidding in real time and make a decision to accept the offer; and if your reserve is met, complete the sale. Worthy makes it easy and convenient. We know your time is valuable.

My wife and I went through the process of selling her wedding ring on Worthy, as we were thinking of upgrading soon. From start to finish, we were expertly guided at each step in the process. Our auction manager, Kendall V, was especially stellar. He addressed questions and concerns, and remained exceptional to work with even when we ultimately decided to decline our highest bid and have the ring returned. I will certainly recommend Worthy to others and return in the future, should the need arise.

This is the best service out there and they do all the hard work for you. Josh was great to work with and explained the entire process from beginning to end. I definitely recommend this company and would use them in the future if needed.

I submitted a 3-ring engagement set to Worthy in April of 2019, for the purpose of potentially selling it through them. An accurate estimated price required sending the rings in.
The set consisted of a 1 ct solitaire, a band of diamonds (eternity band) and a plain white gold band. I received confusing confirmation with two different "Valuable" numbers, and then an estimate for just the two bands, not the solitaire. I have an email asking for the price of all three rings together. I never got a response to that. When I finally asked that my rings be returned, they only sent back the two bands. I have called them and they claim they have no record of receiving the solitaire and claim I must not have sent it.

Worthy has reached out directly to the client and has reviewed all videos of the unboxing of the shipment, sharing all videos with the client and is able to resolve this issue directly. Thank you.

Smooth operation. I sent in my diamond ring on July 5th and had advanced payment in my bank account on July 12th...plus more on the way. I was paid double what a local jeweler had offered me. In fact, the local jeweler gave me false information about my ring. They said it was 1 ct...but in fact, it was 1.25 ct. They also lied about the color...they said it was H...but it was really D...colorless.
Worthy was honest and upfront. I highly recommend using them.

Seamless experience from start to start to finish. Gail did an outstanding job keeping in the loop of what was going on. I would recommend Worthy and Gail B. to anyone looking to sell a diamond ring. Thank you for all your help.

Melissa M. was absolutely fantastic to work with. She helped me negotiate the final price with the buyer and was able to get me even more than I had anticipated. I would highly recommend Worthy (and Melissa) to anyone else!

Melissa was a an amazing customer success associate. It was clear she had a lot of experience in the jewelry industry and was extremely knowledgeable. On top of that, she was extremely friendly, answered all my questions, and was so patient with me when I changed my mind about one of my pieces. I would highly recommend Melissa and Worthy for any of your jewelry sales!
