Do not choose ADT as your home security provider They offer the WORST customer serviceThe radio signal connected to my system has been malfunctioning two weeks after installationWe've made four appointments for ADT and Defender (a company that sells their product) to come out and fix the issue and nobody has shown upDo you know the ADT commercial that shows a customer (from a competitor I'm assuming) calling to report a breand is put on hold? ADT charged me for an additional month of service after canceling
I originally signed on with ADT years ago (contract was for the first years) My bill has gradually gone up and up even though friends and family pay less than I do for the same service from ADT I decided to change to a different alarm service for $/mo as I was was up to $with ADT I tried canceling my service several times last month (3/2017) First call, they required a pass phrase to cancel that I didn't have So they said they would mail it me Said it would arrive before my billing period ended on 4/2/so there wouldn't be a problem It never arrived in my mail After the time has passed they said it would arrive, I called back again to try to cancel They said they would just email me this pass phrase so I could cancel They never did At this point I logged into my account online to see if I could stop billing somehow, I couldn't, but low and behold, found this pass phase after logg

I purchased a home in shawnee, kansas that had ADT equipment left in the home I was told by adt sales rep that everything was in place and nothing needed to be done except sign for a remote that goes on the key ring and agree to the monthly payment which I did and paid faithfully for years My wife has alzheimers and her condition deteriorated rapidly and I had to put her in alzheimers nursing home facility after years I sold my home because it was just me I left all the adt equipment in the house just as I had found it After moving to a senior housing facility which has security, I did not need any security service ADT sent me a bill for full year of service because they said that I had a year contract The only thing I signed for was to agree to the monthly payment and receipt of the remote for my key chain At least, that is what the sales rep told me I could not keep the service since I sold my home I cannot use the service and they still have all the equip

I discontinued service in July I sent signed and dated letters, a fax and spoke with a service representative on the phone: 7/15/16, 9/15/16, 10/5/16, 12/8/ I was told the service would be discontinued ADT keeps sending bills I cannot get the company to discontinue billing me

I received a check in the mail from ADT for $ Then I received a bill for $stating that my bill for $was overdue by a month I called them and the recording said I had a zero balance I called again and told them we are not getting their bills and we need them to use the correct mailing address, not our physical address They said we could not change anything without knowing our password I can not remember our password They said, "then you can not change your address" How can we be on time, if we never get our bills from ADT? I asked to speak with a Manager and they said there were no Managers available (this was at 10:AM on March 18, 2016) I asked to have the Manager return our call The employee said she would have the Manager call us This was four days ago and we still have not received a call back

ADT was unable to install the system at our new home (once because they didn't even show up), yet is continuing to charge us the cancellation fees

I recently signed up for service with ADT via Defender I have had the service for one month and within this month the system has malfunctioned twice We have had two service visits without resolution The police department had to come out due to the alarms I contacted Defender to cancel service due to the defective system I spoke with *** Cancellation Department Manager (employee number XXXXX) in *** ***, *** She was extremely nasty and frigid Needless to say, she would not let me out of the contract because the day grace period has passed What kind of company expects someone to continue with a service that malfunctioned twice within days!!!
I also contacted ADT and they stated that they were unable to cancel the service due to my contract being with Defender
I explained to ADT how I will not do business or recommend them to anyone due to the fact that they (ADT) as the parent company can not reprimand Defender (contractor) and assist an unhappy customer Plus Defender provided rude and unacceptable service via customer service both management and faulty equipment I am very disgusted that my only options are being stuck paying for a service that I am not happy with or paying $to cancel the service
Please do not sign up with Defenders If you don't have or more service visits regarding the same problem they will not cancel your contract Please do not sign up with ADT they are not supportive of their customers via the contract companies Both companies are in it together just for the money!!!! Our Family's Experience w/ADT:
We paid for multiple units to have their services, then cancelled before installation because of mixed communicationThese services were paid in fullWe are due a refund
What happened:
Sept called*** used my phone # to look up informationAttempted to try to get me to stay (seemed nice, I also welcome re negotiations) yet failedShe was going off of of the units and not accessing my full accountThen when I requested to refund my funds, she was only going to refund me for account and not the other...I had to I inform her of the other account (not listening to the customer)The refund amount she gave was less then what I paid, so she had to go back and add the other account that I paid forHer initial presentation of her customer service wasn't as "helpful" as it was when she was trying to get me to not cancelFrom 9/8/she said it would take days for a refundAnd she couldn't send me an email of the refund amount or my confirmation
I called ADT on 9/15/to follow up on my refund*** answered and forward me to billing to *** ** said the sales dept handled the refund so he forwarded me to sales, *** from sales, put me on hold and forwarded me to a office and its automated machine said it was close and sent me to the survey automated message that wasn't set up because it was just a dial toneNo one was able to answer my questions of wheres my refund or its confirmation #, seemed very uneasy/unprofessional like they're just winging itSo I did some research and discovered ADT uses private or 3rd parties to run the customer service lines (now I understand a bit, but still doesn't make this play for the customer)

I called ADT on 9/Rep *** answered, I filled her in and asked about my refundShe said it was "refunded on the 16th" (not the 8th, like I was told and requested it on) so she said I should expect my refund on the "26th"
I intended to use the refund money for another security systemThis is delaying the process and putting unnecessary hardship on our family affairs
I intended to use ADT on future properties, just not this one due to the specifics of how this property is usedBut I will never use this company again and I will never referEven after sharing my experience with others they say "ADT? They are suppose to be good?" That's what I thought

I have been a loyal customer of ADT for over years I have been paying quarterly services for a long time and the service hasn't been working properly This morning, I called again to report the problem and I was informed that I needed to upgrade system
The rep told me that there was a promotion to upgrade the system and the all the old equipment will be replace for the whole house including smoke detectors The rep didn't explain to me how the new system will be install and work with the new upgrade system I just finished renovated my house and I don't any damage to my new wallsFurthermore, there was a mistake in the order due to rep only wrote one smoke detector and one sensor
I called the headquarters and I spoke with another rep-lady in order to try to explain the problem and try to work with me but she was rude, didn't wat to work with me or grant me a discount for the smoke detectors I can't pay per smoke detector after paying service for over twenty years It is very unfair and bad business practice
My house always been protected with ADT for so many years; now I don't feel that ADT cares a bout my well being and satisfaction as a loyal customer

I had a large system installed in my house for which I paid a second installation fee since I relocated from another state where I already had ADT installedDuring installation their technician fell and put a huge hole through my ceilingThey informed me they would send someone to fix itFew days later to my surprise I received a phone call from ADT's insurance company telling me I had to find a contractor and obtain a quote that they would review and decide if to agree so I could get my ceiling fixCustomer support is hideous and unprofessionalIf they damage the property during installation they will not follow through to repair it, they will pretty much leave it up to you and just cut a check through an insurance companyThey won't even further discuss the matter with you but rather just defer to their insurance company

We have called times to cancel our service and they will not allow us to do so They say they will refer our account to collections if we cancel
My husband and I have called four times to cancel our service We are getting new home security service with comcast and no longer require home security with ADT They say we cannot cancel without a PIN number which we don't know When we ask to speak to a supervisor they say none is available They've said they will send our PIN number in the mail and have not done so (after two weeks)
We've stated that we are disconnecting our land line and will no longer be paying for their security service and they've threatened to send our account to a collection service

This company Has been charging me fr services they are not providing since the end of July, The system is not own nor does it work but I conyinue to get monthly chargesI have had deaths in my family this past year which caused me to miss alot of time from work which I was not paid forI was barely making my mortgage which I am still behind on let alone paying for security services I am not even gettingI have called numerous times requesting they cancel and credit my account but they refuse to do so unless I allow a technician to enter my homeI no longer want anything to do with ADT the people I have spoken to do not care or have compassion for their customers and they continue to rack up charges for services they are not even providing, in turn affecting my standing and creditI would like to cancel my account and be credited for services they have not rendered to me since the end of JULYI need resolution not them telling me I have to allow someone in my house when I cannot
