Blink Fitness Reviews (316)

Hello,
We have made every attempt to resolve this matter, contacting you via email and phone. 14 emails have been sent and 6 phone calls have been made over the past 70 days.  A call center representative did call you back and left a voice mail to discuss
the past due balance on your account as well on 4/*/16. Despite several attempts to resolve the matter, the account is set to cancel 4/**/16 due to final notice collections.
To avoid being sent to collections, please make a payment by either logging on to [redacted], simply stop by any Blink location, orcall Blink billing account services at ###-###-#### where you can speak with a billing
representative Monday-Friday between the hours of 8am-6pm. If you call after hours, please feel free to leave a message which will be returned by a representative during the next business day.

Before visiting Blink on Macombs for early morning workouts, it's a good idea to call ahead and ask if the TVs are on. They keep losing the remote! Turns out that irresponsible evening staff put it in their pocket and take it home. The morning staff then make up some cockamamy story to placate customers who have made the screen an integral part of their workouts. After all, many of them joined because Blink offered this amenity. To compound the problem, management has been remiss in resolving the situation in a practical manner. So far it hasn't occurred to them to purchase a second remote, or to place a sign at the front desk reminding the staff to leave the remote in the drawer before closing up shop. It's a no-brainer, but this simple practice seems too cumbersome. Or maybe they couldn't care less about the clients.

This company is a thief I pay for a personal trainer she has not be showing up, have not be calling, never give me her number, but when I call the manager never in because she is working at a next gym and this is three weeks now. Why should I paid a penalty to cancel when the gym is [removed] and robbery with no mask. I am calling the bank and block blink no more money.

I'd go ahead with the stop payment. Trainers aren't cheap, and you shouldn't keep paying for a service you're not getting.

Blink Fitness 833 Flatbush ave I use to love this gym but now this location is out of control this guy wearing a name tag said Jermain I only asked him to use the shower and he got very disrespectful out his mouth I was appalled shocked that blink would have someone like that working for them tarnishing Blinks name this guy should be fired period I will never visit this location again .

Did he smell like he wanted to be alone? If that's the case you did nothing wrong. Good personal hygiene should be a must for all Blink employees.

833 flatbush avenue brooklyn new york beware of the black guy that works maintenance at blink on flatbush avenue he is very disrespectful he is a gay basher his name is jermain ainsley i'm a member at this location this guy cursed me out for playing my music out loud he called me all types of fs my feeling were hurt badly blink hires animals this guy should be in a cage not allowed out i'm going to cancel my membership immediately. The nerve of this guy calling me out my name.

Why hasn't that pitiful excuse for a man been fired?

Blink Fitness at 833 Flatbush ave I'm a gay male I have been a member with blink for 3 years so I decide to go on this day to Flatbush blink 833 Flatbush ave and after a hard workout I went to use the men rest room to wash my face so I got just a sprinkle of water on the sink and this light skin guy comes up to me real aggressive saying yo motherfker didn't you see me just clean off the fking sink cracker and right away I got scared and walked away to go complain to the nice lady at the front desk he was so aggressive and scary I think that I'm going to cancel my membership and join planet fitness I only came to work out not be threatened I'm surprised blink hire people like that is sad.I found out that guys name from front desk its Jermain Ainsley so blink members beware of this guy he is very disrespectful.

We cancelled our membership before moving and they charged us for over a year. This went unnoticed because thus was an account that was never used after moving and changing our cable/email provider. It was a fluke that we noticed but I am glad they did. From 7/16 until now we were charged $20 a month and one month they charged $39. Before we left we went in and cancelled the membership and were told we could use blink at our new location, and when they checked the zip code there were none in the area. They said we will go ahead and cancel the membership, no cancellation letter was issued. After calling the bank we were told they can only refund 60 days, and we were advised to call the service provider. The number they had was incorrect, then we got the correct number. A receptionist told us someone would call us back and no one ever did. Avoid any place which hides behind a cancellation letter which they will not issue unless you know to ask for it.

That's why it's a good idea to put a stop payment the moment we leave a gym for good.

Certified letter to cancel is the dumbest thing since unsliced bread

Amen!

As a member prior to the erected facility of Macombs Road Blink Fitness location, I find it extremely irritating after speaking to two different mangers who stated' "The sound system issue is being addressed," (Jan 1 2016 and Feb 10 2017) remains a complete mystery. The past three weeks the far end speakers on the 2nd floor have been off. The stucco ceiling allows the reverberation of sounds to enhance Blink customers’ workout experience. My use of the gym is during peak week day hours as well as the weekend. Again, other locations have maintained an audible excellence within their facilities. It the volume issue is not going to return to its original glory (Macombs Road Location) and empty promises or statements are to ensue. It might behoove someone to remove the speakers all together. In this manner the weal sound system would therefore make perfect sense!

You know why they haven't done it? Because not enough people have complained about it.

Good morning
I'm writing this letter because I'm disappointed in the fact tht I been a member from dec 2016 @ the parkchester location I love the gym and the staff are nice, so this morning I take my 16 yr old daughter with me cause she wanted to go and see wht I do and work out since she had no school so I called 2 gym locations to make sure she can go both locations told me as long as she's 16 and over and with a adult 18 or older there will not be a problem so when we get to the gym I'm told she can't come in as a guess because she had to be 18 and older so now I'm upset cause one I didn't get to do my work out today and I wasted my carefare to get to the gym.
This situation really makes me 2nd guess renewing my membership once my yr is over I already referred one friend to join and another one is about to join but I will not recommend her or any one else with kids to join because of the misinformation you get and and if you have teens age kids tht want to go with you to the gym once in a while they can't, I really don't see why they have to be 18!!
I'm really disappointed and hope you guys change this policy so family can get healthy together now I know to make sure I ask at the next gym about the age limited when you bring a guess and the crazy thing just last week there was a member who had her son in the gym and he look like he was 15/16 yrs old.
I'm so dedicated to getting healthy and finishing out my membership I pay my bill on time in fact I already paid my bill for February this really has me upset.
Have a great day

Review: I had personal training session scheduled which I cancelled immeadiately before couple of days of actual appointment. They are not ready to refund. Appointment confirmation says that won't get refund if I cancel within 24 hrs of appointment. Very bad experience with manager when I went to talk to them... Not good

Review: I fell at Blink Fitness in [redacted] on January [redacted] 2013. I broke my foot and filed an accident report that day at the gym with the manager [redacted]. I called back to the gym later that week after I had an MRI and found out I would be unable to work out anymore and asked the manager to cancel my policy. The manager said he would cancel it for me as I would be unable to get to the gym. I just looked at my credit card statement, and I see that Blink has been billing my credit card monthly. This didn't catch my attention right away as they were billing me as "BLINK MOTO" and when I saw it last month I thought it was Apple billing me. I want my money refunded immediately.Desired Settlement: I want my money that was debited from my credit card back.

Response:

At this time, I have not been contacted by Blink Fitness (All Metropolitan NY area locations) regarding complaint ID [redacted].

They have not refunded my money.

Response:

Dear [redacted],

We have reviewed the customer's complaint in detail and have addressed accordingly. Our cancellation policy does require the member to sign a cancellation form with in the club or send a certified letter to our corporate office, giving 30 days' notice. The member stated that she cancelled over the phone with the manager at the time. Since we never received a cancellation request in writing by the member, it was never processed. As a customer service gesture, we have cancelled the membership effective today and refunded the requested $105.00 back to the credit card charged.

In good health,

Review: l am a member of the [redacted]. Over the course of 4 months I have attempted to remove the card that's listed as primary on my account. Three times over the phone and twice in-person. Unfortunately, the employees have been unsuccessful with removing the card, and continue to list my card as secondary. The issue is the current primary card belongs to my ex-partner, and month after month he continues to be charged. Not only is this inconvenient it's frustrating! January [redacted] I contacted the manager by email and received no response.Desired Settlement: I would like to have the current card on file be completely removed from my account, and I would like to receive some consideration on my monthly billing. I want a discounted rate or three months of free service.

Business

Response:

Hello, Thank you for reaching out to us. We've looked into this matter and see that the original credit card is still listed as the primary payment source. I have removed that credit card and replaced it with the member's preferred credit card. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and for the length of time this has taken to be resolved. As a customer service gesture, we have refunded the most recent payment on 1/[redacted]/16 back to the credit card used. The next billing date will be 2/[redacted]/16 which will be charged to the new credit card on file. Please feel free to reach out to [redacted] if you have any other questions or concerns. I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

Sincerely,

Review: Blink started charging me twice for my gym membership each month. After emailing customer service and going into the gym to try and have it fixed, it took two months for them to only charge once. However now I am receiving emails that I have not paid my membership even though I was charged for this month. They found that they were charging my credit card under two different names (somehow my maiden name had an account even though I havent used it in several years) and I asked them to cancel that account but this issue seems to still be unresolved. I believe that they still have two accounts for me even though Ive been trying to get this fixed for 3 months. Ive disputed the charges with [redacted] each month that they double charged me since they could not resolve the issue and reimburse me each month despite multiple emails and visits to the gym. I would like to only be charged for one membership each month under my correct name without getting an email that I am not paying.
Desired Settlement: I would like to only be charged for one membership each month under my correct name without getting an email that I am not paying.

Review: I joined Blink on 12/[redacted]/13. At that time, we were given a tour of the gym and signed up (I, as primary member and my husband as guest) at a kiosk in the gym and given no proof of contract but a membership card. By January 2014, I discovered I was pregnant and was advised by my OB/GYN to avoid running & weight lifting. Running on a treadmill and weight lifting are the only services offered at this gym.On 7/[redacted]/14, I accompanied my husband (guest member) to the gym since he can only use facility if I, primary member, check in as well. Upon leaving, we tried to find out if my husband could take my place a primary member given that I was pregnant and TEMPORARILY unable to use gym facility. We were told that there was no provision for such and that the only option was to cancel the membership and pay a new sign up fee for my husband who wished to be listed as primary member. We were told by gym associate, [redacted], that if we wished to cancel, a $60 fee would be charged plus, we needed to give 45 days notice. This was never mentioned to us before! According to [redacted], that 45 day notice meant that we would be billed 1 month payment on top of the cancellation fee! At this point I objected, as I was never told of this policy. [redacted] then proceeded to tell me this is the same policy for those who may have a terminal illness (e.g. [redacted]), who are disabled suddenly, or military members deployed abroad. This upset me gravely but, I paid and cancelled my membership to Blink as I didn't want to delay this any longer. I NEVER wanted to leave Blink. My intentions were to continue membership so that I could use facility when I was able to resume physical activity. Blink made it IMPOSSIBLE for me to remain a member. My only options were to continue paying $20/month for service I wasn't using ($100 till end of contract) or to pay a total of $82.29 to cancel completely or pay a total of $111.96 to cancel and then have my husband rejoin as primary member. I was FORCED to take the least expensive option.Desired Settlement: I am seeking a reimbursement of $82.29 ($60 cancellation fee and $22.29 monthly fee) I was charged unfairly to accommodate a temporary physical challenge. Management did nothing to help me figure out a reasonable solution for a situation as simple as this. Again, I NEVER wanted to leave. I wanted to resume physical activity once I was given clearance to resume such. There must be a change in policy for customers who may be in a similar situation like myself.

Sincerely,

Review: I joined Blink FItness in mid-July whilst temporarily living in NYC for work. Going into it, they told me about the 45 day advanced notice for cancellation. They said it would be possible to cancel my membership as soon as I started. I signed up and proceeded to cancel the membership that same day.. I left NY and I moved to SF. I checked my account to see that blink had charged me another 3 months of membership. I contacted my former gym in NY, and was sent for a loop. They told me they had no record of me cancelling when I cancelled on the first day I joined. They then proceeded to tell me I needed to fill out another cancellation form and send it to them if I wanted to cancel. I have contacted both them and the head office, to no avail. They owe me $52.26, which includes two months of membership. This is a total scam and they are not helping me cancel my membership. I need help and this seems to be the last optionDesired Settlement: A refund and a confirmation that my membership has been cancelled.

Business Response:

Blink's cancellation policy is 45-days notice. As per the member's signed membership agreement, the member agrees to terminate the Agreement by providing 45 days by either visiting the club and signing a cancellation form at the front desk or by certified mail sent to: Blink Member Services [redacted]

[redacted] Without a signed cancellation form at our front desk or a certified letter mailed to our Member Services address, Blink will be unable to cancel a membership. Blink requires a signature at the club or by certified mail to cancel the membership.

Consumer Response:

I have sent a letter of cancellation via certified mail and they still have not cancelled.

Blink Member Services is in receipt of certified letter postmarked November [redacted], 2015. Membership will be cancelled from postmarked date with final usage date of December [redacted], 2015, per the standard terms of Blink's cancellation.

Consumer Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved. Is there anyway I would be able to follow up with this if I see another charge from them? I don't really trust Blink considering the poor service they have provided me thus far. I really appreciate the help on your end!

Sincerely,

Review: I was not told when signing up that the blue membership has a cancellation fee, so when I attempted to cancel I was shocked to find out. As a response I cancelled the card they had on file, however the company has not stopped harassing me about payment and contact me daily. Desired Settlement: I want my account cancelled and whatever I owe the company absolved. I feel that I am not responsible for this payment because I was not made aware of the cancellation fee.

Business Response:

Hello, We've looked into this member's account and see he did sign a contract for a Blue membership. Memberships are created digitally via online. When signing up online, the details of the membership you're selecting are shown. The site states for both Blue and Green memberships that they are for a 12 month period and that there will be an annual fee charged (The annual fee date varies based on when a member joins) . The contract that is digitally signed by the member states that there is a $60 buy out fee associated if the member cancels before their 1 year obligation. We do not cancel memberships immediately after a member decides to stop payment. They must submit for cancellation. Cancellations are processed by either visiting the club, filling out a cancellation form at the front desk, or by submitting a certified letter to: [redacted]

We practice this methodology as it provides a receipt of cancellation for you in the event something isn't processed properly. We do require a 45 day notice with a pro-rate to be collected from the date the cancellation form is signed or from the date the mail is postmarked. At this time, there is past due balance on the account of $62.70. The membership will be set to cancel due to final notice collections effective 2 / [redacted] / 16. To avoid being sent to collections, the balance must be paid. To make a payment, you can either log on to [redacted] or simply stop by any Blink location. You can alsocall Blink billing account services at [redacted] where you can speak with a billing representative Monday-Friday between the hours of 8am-6pm. If you call after hours, please feel free to leave a message which will be returned by a representative during the next business day. In good health, Blink Member Services

Review: My credit card number changed due to fraud on my account and my automatic billings stopped being deducted. Emails regarding an issue with the credit card went to my spam box and not once did Blink try to contact me via telephone. Instead, they sent me to collections over a $78 balance. I now have twice or even three times daily calls asking me to pay the balance or "negative marks" on my credit will be reported. Despite paying Blink directly, the collections company will not stop calling me or reach out to Blink to ascertain whether or not the payment was made.Desired Settlement: Would like Blink to make sure this issue is corrected with the collections agency and improve its customer service practices. It is absolutely insane to be sending people to collections over something like this.

Business Response:

Member account reflects overdue balance payment received. Account is cancelled and no balance remains.

Review: due to injuring my ankle at blink brentwood, I was unable to go in and cancel my membership. I spent money out of my pocket to pay for painkillers so I could function somewhat normally. I had gotten 3 emails stating that I needed to pay my bill and when I was financially able to, I called blink fitness brentwood on 10/[redacted]/15 and stated that i'd pay in person like the email that I was sent said (either in person or online) . On 10/[redacted]/2015 at 2: 35am, instead of waiting for me to come into their location to make a partial payment that blink fitness brentwood agreed to, they took $114 off my debit card. I felt that the staff of blink fitness brentwood disrespected me, despite me telling them that my ankle injury prevented me from coming in. If they don't give me my money back, I will go to another gym with better customer service and personally send a certified-notarized letter to the [redacted] of blink holdings, inc. Desired settlement: I am on ssi disability and I can't afford to be giving them $114 all at one time. Blink fitness took all that I owed them after agreeing to me on the phone that I could come in and make a partial payment. I was told today, 10/[redacted]/15 that the manager left for the day and she'd be in on monday, 11/[redacted].15. Apparently they couldn't find my name in their system. I want a full refund of my $114. My ankle is is no condition for me to work out at blink fitness or at any gym.

Business response:

per the terms of the member's signed agreement, the member authorizes electronic funds transfer to make blink monthly payments by the method indicated on the signed agreement. The monthly dues will continue to be deducted each month at the monthly rate then in effect. The outstanding balance was collected as per the eft billing the member agreed to upon joining on 6/[redacted]/2015.

Consumer response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint id [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has not been resolved because:

I was told that I could go in and pay the balance online or in person. I was homeless and broke, I had no one to give me any type of assistance. I want my membership terminated since i've signed up with another gym. I called blink fitness of brentwood and I said i'd come in and pay the balance myself. The money was taken at 2: 35am, while I was sleeping... Not even giving me the chance to finally go there and pay in person. I want my money back and if I don't get back my $114, i'm telling all my friends and family not to join blink either. I am on ssi disability and I now have no money to buy food. Thanks, but no thanks. Please cancel my membership, I want to have nothing to do with blink fitness anymore. Thank you,

Review: In May/June during presale before the blink fitness location was up and running. I applied for a membership online, approximately a week later I found out I was pregnant. I then called and cancelled the membership over the phone because the club was still not open at the time. I spoke to a young lady I was told that it would be taken care of when the club was finally up and running in August. I was not going to be bill so I shouldn't worry. Several months down the line I realized I was being billed to an account that I no longer use. I personally went into he location and gave her the history of my account that was originally open in 2013. She advised me to send a letter to with she prefilled out to send out. I went the letter out with still no answer weeks later I went back to club and asked what's the status she said she heard nothing back from memeber services. I should continue to wait. Fast forward to this present time assuming all was taking care of I signed up once again for $26.00. When I went into he club to finally take my first photo in the club my access was denied because of a running balance. I explained it to the new manager of the history date 2yrs back and whose advice to me was either pay the balance and then received my 26.00 start up fee refunded or place an inactive card let the new membership cancel out on its own in 3months and ignore it all together leaving me with 2 open balances totaling more than $100.00. This manager also told me that memeber services of blink fitness does not open mail unless it's ceterified therefor it my fault they did not honor my cancellation notice because of was not sent their preferred and not mandatory option of mailing services. I would like to join the gym with a clean slate.Desired Settlement: I would like the previous balance to be wiped from my account and start a new membership.
