I have been paying CarShield $99.99 each month for 8 months since I signed the contract that they will take care of vehicle repairs.
Almost three weeks ago my car suddenly needed repair when the AT oil temp light came on. My service rep filed a claim after doing diagnostics. No one acknowledged the claim. I filed a claim. No one acknowledged my claim. Both my service rep and I have made many calls to CarShield with no replies. I had the work done and want reimbursement from CarShield so filed another claim. Still no replies from CarShield. But Mepco CarShield took another $99.99 out of my checking account this month.
CarShield is here to address your concerns.
We are sorry for the delay in facilitating your claim. If you would like to email your SIGNED, repair invoice to [email protected] we would be happy to forward it to the correct party for review to determine any eligibility for reimbursement.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. I have attached the invoice that I myself paid to my car service center because CarShield did not respond. You will see it is for $1300 and I am only asking CarShield to return my $800 fees so that I can end my contract with them and share my negative results about them.

I have been unable to file for authorization to perform an auto repair.
We apologize for the delays in facilitating
your claim.Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, most American
Auto Shield ("AAS") employees are working remotely; as a result, some
callers are experiencing connection issues and extended hold times.
Likewise, we experienced interruptions to our

previous week. We realize these issues are not acceptable and certainly
do not reflect our commitment to provide the highest levels of service.
We apologize for your inconvenience and look forward to providing excellent

I have had Carshield for about a year. I have paid them $1100 so far. I have 2007 Nissan Pathfinder. I took it in Nissan and they said there were issues with the windows. Carshield did not do anything about it. Also my water pump and timing chain went out. They did nothing about that either even though it is supposed to be covered. I called them many times and they do not answer calls, they also did not give me a rental car.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

I am rejecting this response because:
A few days ago I made a copy of the document they are requesting and put it in the mail, however, I have already previously provided them this information. I feel that they are jerking me around. I just want to be reimbursed for the bill that I paid that should have been covered. They should receive what I sent any day now.

The company stopped the car dealership from diagnosing my car because of just 1 of 9 engine codes. I paid for the repair and Car Shield refused to get on the phone with the dealer was on hold for hours. My car spent a total of 60 days in service between June 8 and August 14 at 2 different dealers who could not get Car Shield or American Auto Shield to respond in a timely manner. I made a second claim based on the codes from the original 9 engine codes and Car Shield canceled my warranty claiming I requested it closed through the Ohio AG's office (no suit was ever filed).
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
We have attached a copy of the complaint you filed with the Ohio Attorney General's Office. As you can clearly see, there was a request to cancel the policy. That request was processed on August 4th, 2020 and a full refund was issued to you. This refund was done as a courtesy for the inconvenience of the repair needed for your vehicle not being covered under your vehicle service contract terms.
The repair estimate you presented for the torque converter is dated August 6th, 2020. Since your contract had already been cancelled as requested by the Ohio Attorney General, the claim is therefore denied.
Finally, on August 6th, you forwarded a copy of a rental receipt. Your car was not at either of the repair facilities on the dates you rented a vehicle. Since there was not an authorized claim in progress requiring four or more hours of labor, there was no need to rent a vehicle See Section B, Paragraph 2, found on Page 4 of the contact. That claim, is therefore, denied.
If you have any further questions or disputes regarding your repair claim, please contact American Auto Shield directly or see Section M, Dispute Resolution, of your contract.

It is August 17th, a month and a half since opening my claim August 1st. When I called my car was at my preferred auto shop until I asked for a recommended shop that they deal with . The shop it self has been great but even they have had to accommodate so much for this warranty company . They refused for three weeks to approve the price that was verbally agreed on between the shop owner and the adjusted who randomly showed up one week. All of a sudden it’s the end of August and the excuses I hear for the delayed processing are that their systems were down and that I confused the representatives by calling everyday . All of there notes said different things. How am I supposed to know what they note down when I’m left on hold for them to “review” my contract . I called this morning after I was told the part was suppose to be delivered 2 weeks ago. On the call the representative said called the shop and the delivery service once I told her the timeline I was given. Even though the part should have arrived in 3 days she says, the shop does not have it . But they have an invoice ? She said the delivery service showed a status of delivered. I feel terrible because the shop has a policy of using their own vendors(ei.. the dealership that has my transmission sitting on their shelves down the street). I’ve paid many months, paid for extra diagnostics to confirm point of failure , now why can CarShield not follow through on their end?
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
We have contacted the claims department to check status on the part for your vehicle. Their tracking system indicates the part was delivered to your repair facility on August 7th, 2020. Please contact American Auto Shield *** if the repair facility doesn't find the part for your vehicle and they will have another part shipped out to your repair facility.

Hello, I purchased a vehicle warranty contract from this company back on January 27,2020 . And due to circumstances out of my control my Transmission went on my 2004 Nissan Armada in June 2020. I had to have my vehicle towed to a repair shop that specializes on transmissions. The shop that’s doing my repairs called several times and I also called over several times to Car Shield within two months span and each time they gave me the run around about having my vehicle repaired. Car shield sent an Inspector out and he had my repair shop( ***) take my old transmission out of my truck and that was the last time they heard from anyone from Carshield. I explained to each and every representative that I spoke to that this was my only means of transportation and they continue to put my case on the back burner. As of today my vehicle is still not Fixed. I want my vehicle fixed
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

I've been trying to get my car repaired under my extended warranty with Carshield / American Autoshield for close to a month now and yet still it has not been done even though the repairs are clearly covered under the warranty. I have a 2016 Audi A7 that needs motor mounts ymto be replaced and I've taken the car to my local shop and it was diagnosed with the motor mounts needing to be replaced. They tried contacting Carshield and to no avail to file the claim. As I was informed of them not being able to contact Carshield, I then started to contact them everyday for 2 weeks in conjunction with the local shop. I filed the claim on line, I waited everyday for 2 plus hours on hold to speak with a representative and when do speak with them they would say that no claim has been filed and we must try again over and over. It being a nightmare with the local shop I took my car and waited 2 weeks to see if things would get better with Carshield and it it did not. I then took my car to an Audi dealership thinking it will better and that Carshield will respond quicker but to no avail as it was the same issue. Calls are not answered or returned. Claim not being filed in their system despite both me and the dealership working together to get the claim filed and approved. I would conference in the dealership once I manage to get in contact with someone at Carshield/ American Autoshield and of course they would say that they did not get the estimate even though it gmhad been sent over to them multiple times and while we're on the phone we would get disconnected and can never finish the process. Thus happened twice and not once did they called back to continue the process. The bottom line is that it seems that these folks are simply discouraging people from filling a claim because this is insane and meanwhile they are being paid monthly from me for the courage that they are not taking responsibility for. I simply need resolution and a consideration for the nightmare that they have put me through for a whole month. As it stands the claim is still not yet approved to move forward and I'm having to bring back the loaner car to the Sudi dealership because these Carshield refuse is not doing their job. I+ have escalate to management and yet still they have no sense of resolution or concern for the customer. This is quite a shame as I have never seen anything like this.

I am rejecting this response because:
Hi, the reason that I have rejected the response is because as of today 8/19/20 I was able to sell the car for a cash offer. In saying that, because of the fact that the required repairs are so apparent on the vehicle, the dealership deducted about $2500 from the overall price since the car will need to have those repairs done anyway. So, as it stands, since the repairs have already been approved and authorized I would like for Carshield to reimburse me the approved and authorized amount so that I can put it towards the payoff of the vehicle since I had to take a $2500 hit from the sell. Because of the fact that this claim dragged on for so long, the repairs weren't completed in a timely manner and so that's why i'm requesting reimbursement. Thank you
Sincerely
Thanks for reaching out again.

A complete waste of money! I started with CarShield on 5/22/2020 I waited months to use cause I didn't have any issues with my vehicle. Once an issue developed I called CarShield to double check my coverage and was assured that all was good and I will be fine. I called the dealer to schedule an appointment, dropped off my truck and rented a car through the CarShield. I dropped of the truck on Wednesday, the dealer called me Thursday late morning to tell me I needed a driver's side wheel baron and a motor mount and that CarShield was researching the wheel baron to see if it was covered and he said they would cover the engine mount. I said okay. Waited until Friday and called the dealer who said he was now having trouble getting in contact with CarShield, he was on the phone and they got disconnected and then their system went down and the only way to contact them was via email or fax. I called back in the afternoon and the dealer was still having issues. At that point I decided to pick up my truck and told the dealer to let me know when they get a response from CarShield and I will bring my truck back. I returned the rental and have been waiting, which is now two weeks for CarShield to contact the dealer. In that time I wrote the required letter to cancel the contract and mailed it off certified return receipt and of course haven't received the card back yet, but I blocked any charges from CarShield so they can no longer charge me.
We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.
We received your request for cancellation on August 17th , 2020 and your account has been cancelled. Due to the cancellation there will be no claim filed on your behalf.

I was very skeptical about purchasing this policy. I was warned by BMW themselves that they Deny most claims and people usually are left having to pay out of pocket. So my car broke down on July 10 and I was forced to have it towed to my home since it fell on a weekend. Monday morning I filled a claim and of course I get a call from the workshop only to tell me that I wasn’t covered. When I spoke to the rep over the phone, he said it wasn’t a covered component. They even didn’t cover the tow bill. It’s all a lie and a scam. It shocks me that they are allowed to rob people in this manner and they are getting away with it. I sent them an Email 24 hour before my cycles renewed telling them I wanted to cancel and not to charge my credit card. They still went against my wishes and took my money. By the way, I had the platinum plan. So if you think getting a higher plan is better, it’s really not. Save yourself and stay away from this company. Look at all the other reviews. They have an F RATING ! it’s a disaster. I want all my money back from them. I’ve paid $500 so far; I’m better off putting the money aside. Someone need to file a lawsuit against them.
CarShield is here to address your concerns.
We have contacted your service contract administrator to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. Their notes indicate the cause of failure on your vehicle was a radiator hose. Unfortunately, that is not a part listed for coverage under your service contract terms.

On July 23 2020 I had to put my car in the shop. I was told what the issue was and the car dealership called car shield. It took 2 weeks for the young lady to connect with a representative. She was told that they could not take the claim due to an internet problem so she attempted to file the claim on line and after several attempts it finally went through. After She filed the claim on line she never heard from anyone, so she and I both had been attempting to call and the two times I had spoken with someone I was told that they would contact the dealership which they never did. On the 7th of August another payment was taken and I called carshield back asking for a refund, but I was told that I could not get a refund, but they could give me a discount. That was very insulting considering the fact I just explained to the customer representative my issue. Finally I told the dealership to repair the issue that I had to pay out of pocket for so that I can come a get my car, which I finally got back on August 10. At this time I can 't get a refund, I can't get my claim approved and still had not heard from anyone at the company. I attempted to sent an email to the corporate office and it was kicked back to me as if the email doesn't exist. I have given the company an ample amount of time to resolve this issue and no results, but they don't hesitate when it comes to taking the money monthly.

My contract with car shield began on 7/21/2020. I signed up with a telephone representative and my vehicle is a 2005 BMW 635. When speaking to the representative that was selling me the service, he spoke very quickly and did not go into the actual part coverage breakdown into detail. He told me specifically that electrical was covered, but did not state that there were certain electrical issues that were not covered. He did not disclose that there were certain part/issue restrictions on each component of the vehicle. In addition, my payment was processed prior to me being able to view the actual contract. I feel like Carshield trains their employees to misinform and leave out details about coverage in order to capitalize off of hardworking Americans. This is despicable. As a business, you should want to be transparent with your customers about what they are actually signing up for. As a business, this is your responsibility. And when a customer has a question, concern or issue, they should have not to take up their entire day to reach someone.
On 8/11/2020, my car's check engine light went on along with what I thought was an electrical issue. My windows would not roll down, the steering wheel would lock at times, and the top would not roll down. Confident that I could have some work done on the car at a low cost per my Car Shield contract, I took the car in to see what the issue was. The estimate included the replacement of the thermostat and coolant. This is the reason that the check engine light came on.
Yesterday, the service technician at BMW was finally able to get a hold of someone at Car shield about the estimate and Car shield stated nothing was covered, not even the diagnostic tests. I would not have taken my car into the shop. Since the car prompted us to check the engine, you would think if there was a problem within the engine it would be covered. The thermometer is an entity within the engine, so I would like to know why that was not covered when the shop reached out to carshield.
I reached out to car shield early morning 8/14/2020. The hold time was outrageous, but I understand with covid going on the staffing issues. I spoke to a representative and she directed me to the cancellation department because I told her I wanted to discuss the decline in coverage and cancel the policy. I was sent to the cancellation department and asked to speak to a supervisor. The representative said just one moment. I was on hold for about ten minutes waiting for the supervisor. The representative came back on the line and said she was about to transfer me and then I was hung up on. I called back, was put on hold immediately, and asked to speak with a supervisor. They sent me to customer service and I spoke with a woman named Carla. I told Carla that I was hung up on and I needed to speak to a supervisor. She said she can not directly connect me to a supervisor and that a supervisor would reach out to me within 24 to 48 hours. This confused me because the representative I spoke to previously told me that I was about to be directed to one. I told her that I needed to speak to someone and she restated the policy. She said she would sent me the policy via email. In the middle of a follow up question, she hung up on me. I called once again to try to reach a supervisor. *** never sent me the policy. I spoke to Rachel and she told me that they do not have a direct line and a supervisor would reach out to me within 24 to 48 BUSINESS hours.
I have a problem with how this company is operating. I have an issue that needs to be resolved in a timely fashion. I am paying a daily fee to house my car at the BMW dealership. I am investing time into reaching someone to get simple questions answers. It seems like this is the script and direction that Carshield gives their employees to assist them with dealing with customer issues. There is no problem solving. There is no resolution. There is only ducking and deflecting. As a paying customer, you would think that you care about me enough to; 1. solve the issue 2. retain my business. This is not car shield's business model and it is apparent after a day of simply trying to reach someone to ask simple questions.
We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.
As notes on the first three pages of your vehicle service contract, American Auto Shield is the administrator of your contract. We have contacted your service contract administrator and requested information on the repair claim you have referenced. Per their notes, the parts needed for repairs including the thermostat are not parts listed for coverage according to your vehicle service contract terms. We see that you spoke with a customer service specialist and you were refunded 1 payment as a gesture of goodwill to help with the conflicting information you were given during you phone call with our customer service department. We do apologize for any confusion. Many of our staff are still working from home due to the COVID-19 pandemic and are therefore unable to have a supervisor pick up a call. Most of them have to email the supervisor and ask the supervisor to reach back out the customer.
We see in your complaint you have asked for your initial payment to be refunded. CarShield is willing to refund that payment in a good faith effort to resolve this matter but your contract would then be cancelled. Please advise as to how you would like to proceed and we will process your request as soon as possible.
We do hope to keep you as a loyal CarShield customer and look forward to working towards a resolution with you.

I purchased coverage for my 2013 Denali a month after my extended manufactures warranty expired per the recommendation of a family member who had coverage. Four-five months after purchase I begin to get a check engine indicator so I took my vehicle in to a dealership advised of my coverage. Carshield told the mechanic even though he knew what the issue was he would have to break down the engine completely before they cover anything (which would be at my cost if claim denied) the mechanic did this confirmed it was in fact what he said originally. Carshield then began to ask for vehicle maintenance history etc (mind you I’d only owned the vehicle a little over a year) I provided all requested documents. After following up several times in a three week timeframe my mechanic reached out and advised of his concern due to the climate humidity and rain w the continued exposure to the elements of my broken down vehicle all while Carshield avoids us both. I again played phone tag with Carshield for over a month. Being told the claims department experiences hacking causing a weeks delay etc etc. now we are at a stalemate they haven’t requested any other paperwork they have spoken to the mechanic done inspections but no claim decision has been issued. It’s been over two months and the shop is fed up w my vehicle sitting there. I was even told once on July 18 that the claim was already approved just needed confirmation from the mechanic. All lies, I get no real answer as to what is delaying my claim determination. The only reason I haven’t put right paid for repairs myself is because I’ve heard horror stories in reference to getting any reimbursement as well. The delay tactics being used are unprofessional your customer service is unprofessional and just overall the company is a scam at best. When forced to actually pay out for repairs that are covered you instead stall trying to force me into either paying myself or taking my car out the shop both of which would result in automatic claim denial. I demand some answers!! And warn anyone to steer clear.
We apologize for the delays in facilitating
your claim.Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, most American

reach out to all claimants who were affected during the previous week. We
realize these issues are not acceptable and certainly do not reflect our
commitment to provide the highest levels of service. We apologize for
your inconvenience and look forward to providing excellent service in the
future. We have escalated this with leadership in the

When I had an issue with my car I took it right to my shop. I called in, filed a complaint online, and emailed the company from 9 am until 4:15 on July 30,2020. I never received a response, and as the rental companies were closed due to covid, I could not drive a different vehicle. The next day my shop forwarded an estimate to Car Shield. I waited an additional week with no response. I contacted them and was told "they never got the estimate" So I forwarded it to them a second time. Then they wanted to send just a part to fix the transmission. My shop said no. Then they wanted to send a used transmission. My shop said no. Then they wanted my shop to take the transmission apart, call them, and they would send an adjuster to see if that was indeed the case. If, so it would be 3 weeks before my shop could get the transmission, so now I waiting an additional 5 to 6 weeks above the 3 weeks I've already waited, with no other car to drive. I cannot walk 60 miles round trip to work everyday. So I cancelled my policy due to their failure to uphold their end of the contract.

In the mean time I rented a car for my son to get to work at enterprise car rental for one week cost $432.07 enterprise gave me a discount and refunded me back $236.00 car sheild owes me $106.07 on Aug 7th we traded car for new car we felt that it was not worth risking carshield not covering cost for repairs that $750.00 not total cost for repairs that was just the begining.faxed carsheild car rental aggreement for refund never heard back. On Aug 1,2020 carshield took out of bank account $129.99 I called them on Aug 8,and canceled service because the car that was under their warranty was traded in .on wed august 12th after countless calls and waiting on hold I was told I could not get my refund back for car rental which they state is apart of their warranty, also I ask them to prorate my payment for 7days of $129.99 and send me the difference because we no longer had the car .carsheild said no because we didn't notify them within 30days there was no coverage for 20 days in july when I joined. this company is fraudulent there advertising is fraudulent ,wish I had read all the distressing calls to Revdex.com ABOUT this company, attorney general office needs to removed them from the face of earth they are scammers to the public.some of their customer service people are rude hang up on you and leave you on hold for long times
We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.
We have contacted your service contract administrator to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. Their notes indicate the claims department was unable to determine the cause of failure on your vehicle. A teardown of the vehicle was requested but you chose to pull the vehicle out of the repair facility and have sold since the vehicle. As noted in our contract, rentals reimbursements will only be approved when the repair claim is approved so their is no rental reimbursement due to you at this time.
As a gesture of goodwill, CarShield will refund your payments in full to solve this matter. You will receive one payment back to the VISA *** and the remainder will be sent via check within 7-10 business days.
We are sorry to lose you as a CarShield customer and wish you well.

I have been with car shield for 1 year and just added another vehicle on to the account. The problem with Car Shield is that they dont pick up the phone. My mechanic has called and was on hold for 2 hours. I called and was on hold for 2 hours. its just ridiculous im trying to get my car fixed and cant because no one will pick up. Like im cancelling my policy with them because im not going to keep paying if I cant get my car fixed, that money I could of used toward the car getting fixed. They want to keep saying( while on hold) its a longer than usually wait due to the pandemic... not true because last year it was the same thing long wait for 2 hours but they ended up picking up but wouldnt pay the what we needed they said it wasnt covered

I have found that Car Shield preyed on my husband's dementia condition, selling him a policy, telling him that he was purchasing the "Gold plan, that covers almost everything" He purchased the program, and 3 years later when our truck broke down, he produced a paid up "Gold plan" Carshield plan. Of course, the plan did not cover the issue that we have, and so we had to pay the $1000 repair bill ourselves. My husband thought that he had purchased the plan that he sees on TV toughted by the stars when you drive an older vehicle. When the check engine light comes on, yiu call Car Shield.

As requested, we will cancel your account. As per your contract terms, you are due a prorated refund amount of $659.05. You will receive this refund by check within 7-10 business days.
