This company is a scam that will not return a call when you file a complaint. I had a legitimate covered repair that they would not cover due to maintenance. The part I had replaced had no maintenance. They would not talk to the repair shop and left a denial on their voicemail in the middle of the night. saying it was not properly maintained. They will put you on hold and will never discuss the matter. I advise anyone to stay clear and not do any business with them. I would leave them a negative review if that was possible. They do not deserve even one star.
We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.
As noted on the first three pages of your contract, *** is the administrator of your vehicle service contract and has full authority of claim procedures, repairs, approval, denials and payments. We have reviewed the notes from the claims department and see your claim could not be authorized because the condenser was full of dirt and and not been kept clean causing deterioration of material leaking.
If you have any further questions or disputes regarding your claim, please contact *** directly at *** or see Section M, Dispute Resolutions, of your contract.

The part replaced was the evaporator coil not the condenser coil. The evaporator coil has no maintenance. They were told this by the repair shop but still issued their blanket denial. T his company is a scam.
I can't honestly give them 1 star at this point. Possibly the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. I'm waiting on a call from a supervisor right now and have no confidence that I will ever get that phone call back. I have wasted hours and days on the phone with their folks. Promises are never followed up or through with......It's nearly an impossible situation and I'm sure that they wish that I'd go away.
My wife's car has been at the dealership for at least 3 weeks waiting for a response from CarShield on repair coverage. My service tech has been on the phone for hours trying to get an answer on if the repairs will be covered by CarShield. As well, he has emailed/faxed the information that they have requested more than once. Still no resolution after 3 weeks. I am frustrated trying to call them as well, since you are put on hold for hours and still don't get thru. The excuse on their message is because of the COVID-19 situation. As others have stated, I could have put the monthly premium towards my repairs. At one point I was fortunate enough to speak to a lady who gave me a claim number of ***. I don't even know if that is valid or just another stall tactic. This is one of the worst experiences that I have had trying to get a service issue resolved.
I really wish that I had read the reviews on this company. I have the platinum coverage and my vehicle has been sitting at the dealership going on two weeks. I have called Carshield everyday multiple times a day Monday-Friday to find out why their claims department hasn’t contacted the dealership to approve the repairs. I get told that they did call and they left a message but no message or emails were left. I have given them the direct phone number to the person that carshield needs to speak too every time I call and yet the dealership was never contacted. It’s so sad that companies like carshield take advantage to people especially with COVID still around. I have wasted money on a rental car that cost me $1200 for two weeks. Now I have to come up with $5000 to have my vehicle repaired. I will be warning everyone and anyone that I can to not get involved with this company and if they are already a member of carshield I would advise them to cancel right away and find another company who will abide by the contract that they pay for.
I had a repair on my car AC and my left front master glass switch. I submitted paperwork according to their instructions to Carshield via fax, using the number that was provided. That was three days ago and I haven't heard from them yet. I have called each day and I have waited on hold for several hours. The dealer tried to get a response and they were unsuccessful as well. I went ahead and had the repair made and paid for it out of my pocket, $242.00. I submitted the invoice to them with a letter and still no word from them. I have had an account with them for three months and have paid $79.99 by direct withdrawal each month from my checking account.
We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

I have had a cvar shield extended auto policy for over a year. Last year they gave me the name of 2 companies that are in their program to check and fix my airconditioning in my vehicle. One was *** and both times I went their mechanic was "out". The other repair shop had a mechanic that said he would not honor thier 100.00 co-pay on covered services as he charged for however many hours it took to figure out the problem. Since that time, I have moved and been caring for my termnially ill mother. I called again 2 wks ago and was given the name of a mechanic/shop in Troy, OH ***. I made an appt last week on Aug 6th. They checked the car and put dye in (to see if there were leaks) and advised me I had to drive it to get the dye moved around and I had another appt scheduled to come back today Aug 13th. I could not come any sooner as I am the primary caregiver for my mother 5 to 6 days a week. I arranged for a friend to pick me up and take me to my home. I received a call from the mechanic at 1100 am on todays date and stated he has been able to diagnosis the problem and my vehicle needs an air compressor fpor the air conditioner. This is covered in my warranty. He advised he has called 4 x today the no. listed on my contract and each time it says there is an hr wait due to "technical difficulties. He cannot proceed until he is given an approval and a claim number to bill. He asked that I try and call. I have trtied 7 x. I get the same response with both numbers I call. My car is up on a hoist and the air conditioning unit is taken apart and ready to be repaired. I am scheduled to be back at my mothers on Saturday andf I have no vehicle. I cannot be at her home without a vehicle for emergency purposes and will have to now rent a vehicle. One if the numbers does let you leave a voive mail; however, when you attempt to leave a message, it cuts you off after 2 seconds. I understand technical problems, but, there is no way a huge company like this should have this horrible of customer assistance. I am stuck without a car, the mechanic is stuck with my car on the hoise and cannot use that bay.

Carshield is by far the worst company you will ever endure as a customer! I purchased a contract with this excuse for a company approximately a month ago. After a few weeks my engine began experiencing problems with the timing chain, resulting in complete engine failure. It was towed to a shop who then filed a claim on my behalf. Only took 24 hours to get a response denying my claim, stating that there’s a 30 day waiting period. My contract very clearly says the waiting period is 20 days, and 500 miles. My claim was filed on day 22, and I’ve traveled 921 miles since. I spoke to a supervisor who apologized for this mistake, and started my claim. At this point the shop is waiting on an adjuster to contact them for final approval. Now they’re not nearly as quick to address my claim, as they were to wrongfully deny it. It’s been 5 days since my claim was started. Judging by the massive amounts of negative reviews, I’m rather concerned that I may not get my repairs done any time soon, if at all. An F rating by the Revdex.com is well deserved. This “company” needs to be shutdown!!!!
I agree with ALL 629 reviews to date. I signed up with these scammers and when I submitted a claim 4 weeks later they are telling me that I gave them the VIN for a different vehicle and they came up with a totally different VIN than what I gave them and not for the love of God can I get a supervisor to speak to! If I select sales, I can get someone one the line in seconds but when I select customer service or claims I am holding for 50 mins to an hour. So now I have to go through my Attorney. I will be reporting them to the *** and I believe that if a few of us bring a class action lawsuit about them then we will get better service. I will be reporting them to the *** and I believe that if a few of us bring a class action lawsuit about them then we will get better service.
I signed up for after market car warranty coverage from Car Shield. I submitted a $2825.70 claim for a head gasket crack which was causing oil to not flow properly into the car. The dealership told me if they were to do the work I would have to pay up front because they can never get a hold of Car Shield to file claims. They had one customer waiting a month for an authorization. I paid for the repair and tried to file a claim via their website. The form to file did not work. I tried to call their 800 number, nobody picked up. On July 28 the dealership sent them an e-mail about the repairs to their e-mail account. On August 3rd I did the same as well as via their website form.I periodically tried to call the claims department and nobody would pick up. I have currently been waiting 1 hour and 34 minutes and counting. I did speak to someone in customer support and they said my claim was denied because in the adjuster said it was routine maintenance. How is a head gasket crack routine maintenance? When I asked to speak to a manager, I was place on hold the first time for 50 minutes before I hung up. I called customer service back to cancel my account and was hung up on twice.

I am rejecting this response because:
I have sent 3 e-mails, filled out the claims form twice and have called them numerous time with no response. I have called Car Shield for assistance in contacting your claims agent. On yesterday alone, I was hung up on twice. Another three times the call dropped when trying to transfer me. I asked to speak to a manager for assistance and was told you would have to send an e-mail request and someone would get back to me since you apparently do not have any managers on duty. Being that they are your claims fulfillment partner but you are the face of the collaboration to which I pay my bill every month, I would think 1) you have a duty to make sure your systems have updated and accurate information so we are not wasting 5 hours trying to get a simple answer. 2) Your systems are in synch so that when we call customer service, your reps have the latest information and and connect us seamlessly with a claims processor.
Basically your response is ***, not our problem, but we'll take your money every month.

If you would like to send the signed invoices for your repairs to *** we would be happy to forward them to a claims specialist with the request that they be reviewed immediately. We can also offer you a full refund on your contract. This will not influence your reimbursement claim but it would cancel the contract for future repairs. CarShield is dedicated to trying to come to an amicable resolution of this matter.
Please advise how you would like to proceed either by emailing the invoices, requesting the refund or both.

We have contacted your service contract administrator to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. I called car shield on August 3 to get a policy for my vehicles after doing research through Revdex.com I realized this is not a contract that I want it with this company. Based on all the reviews that I’ve read I trust and believe that this company is a scam. We called car shield less than a wk after purchasing the policy to cancel and each time I got a person and let them know that I wanted to cancel the policy they would say “hold on let me transfer you to customer service. Then they would transfer to a line that played music and then immediately disconnect the call. Called back, followed the prompts for the dept. I needed to speak with and again this kept happening. This happened three times in the same day. When I called back a fourth time the phone just rang with no answer so I’m gathering my number was flagged for wanting to cancel because there was no answer. I’m sure this is being done to keep from canceling the policy because each representative I spoke with did the exact same thing.

I've had Carshield since January. I called them in the middle of May to tell them about a problem with the back end of my car. They said they were sending someone down to look at it. They knew the car was at ***, and the service manager said they never showed up. 4 days later they said they would send someone again and they never showed up again. Two months later they still had no one look at it, so the mechanic fixed it I had to take out a loan to pay the $3600 bill.

This letter is in regards with dealings of fraud concerning CarShield. I am in my eighties and believe most tv advertisements. What a fool I was. I called their number after seeing their advertisement on tv and signed up with them back in January. They take $79.00 each month from my social security check. So far they have taken over $600 from my social security checks.
On the 15th I notified CarShield gave them all the information. I received an estimate of $3600 to repair. *** called CarShield who never called back. I received a phone from a representative from CarShield and said he was coming to Toledo the next day to check on the repair. I called *** and they informed me that no one had showed up. Two weeks later another fellow called and said he was leaving the next day but he never showed. My car sat in *** for five weeks. Finally, this without our car my wife took a loan and paid them off. I called CarShield many times and was told to fax the bill to their office which we did at our church. We received fax verification that it had went through. I called CarShield and was told they have no idea what I was talking about and that they had never received a fax from me.
I read their reply and it seems they have taken advantage of many stupid seniors like me. I have heard nothing further from them in this matter. I have contacted an attorney in this matter. All I want to get is my wife's money back. Also CarShield told her that the service manager was never there which I found was untrue.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

I purchased an extended warranty from Carshield. I’m told I’m only responsible for my $100 deductible with any repair. I had a recent car issue and I took my car to a certified dealer as specified. Every advisor working stated how they are unable to reach this company after multiple attempts and even while the customer is waiting. I attempted to call a customer service agent twice and was on the phone more than 40 min each time still unable to reach anyone. The dealer submitted a claim online as prompted and still no response. I had to pay out of pocket just for the diagnostic since the dealer was unable to reach the company. My vehicle is still not fixed and unsafe to drive back and forth to work and the dealer can’t do anything without contacting the company. I took off work to get my car checked and may have to bring it back. I just went back to work last week and I can’t afford to take off any days.

So I have been making my payment to carshield for 5 months already never had to use or call them until about a month ago. I needed to get towed off the highway because my tire tore apart due to a defected tire a tire shop had just given me. Make a long story short when I called they said that highway was restricted so they couldn’t send someone to take me off the highway ..I had to pay $133 out of pocket to AAA just to take me off the highway.. then call Carshield once I’m off the highway to tow my car to a tire shop ..I had to pay an additional $43 for that now too because Carshield didn’t cover the full payment ..meanwhile towing is supposed to be included in my contract .. ok so now Carshield says I will get reimbursed for the $133 it’s been over a month now and I haven’t received anything. That’s 1 incident now I have an alternator issue a month later I have my car in the shop and work needs to be done to it .my mechanic Has been trying to call them to confirm payment of work that needs to be done and they don’t answer the phone .they leave him on hold For an hour and then hang up ..so I call them myself and they keep me on hold for over an hour then hang up as well ..So. I call again and they say they are going to call the auto shop to confirm the process for the work that needs to be done My mechanic hasn’t received any call it’s been 3 days still nothing they keep having me go around in circles It’s ridiculous it seems like they just wanna take payments every month and not do what they advertise. My car has been sitting there for a week and no work has been done ..what have I been paying them for then?I am ready to cancel my contract at this point if this isn’t resolved quickly .. I am a very unsatisfied customer at this point

My vehicle broke down on July 31, 2020 which is also the same day filed my claim (claim number #***). I took my vehicle to Central Valley Nissan for repair, myself and the customer service rep for Central Valley Nissan (*** ) have left numerous voice messages and I have left several emails with Car Shield to please contact us and please get an adjuster to approve the repairs so my vehicle can get fixed, that is my only means of transportation to work, I was forced to get an rental car and it is very costly and I cannot afford to have it much longer. Every day I call Car Shield and I am put on hold for longer than an hour just to be told the same old song and dance, that they are just waiting on an adjuster to be assigned, that it can take weeks. My car is just sitting at the car repair shop waiting for this adjuster and I have not gotten any replies back or any new information or updates, I think this is very unprofessional way to run a business. My vehicle needs to be repaired as soon as possible.

As explained during the sales call when you called to obtain coverage for 2010 Cadillac Escalade, the *** coverage you purchased is not a vehicle service contract that can be used for repairs to your vehicle. The state of California does not allow CarShield to sell vehicle service contracts but rather a coverage that helps negotiate up to 30% off the cost of repairs, parts and labor, Also, as noted on your contract, the Auto Gold coverage also covers towing, emergency tires service, lock out service, battery service and fuel delivery service.
We apologize for any confusion but the claims number you are referencing is not a CarShield claim number.

On 6/13/2019 I enrolled with car shield. The company claims they're a car warranty company but when it comes time to use them you can not reach anyone. All the numbers I've tried go to a recording and placed on hold that never reached anyone. I paid on this over a year for $79 a month . t. $6,200 in repairs I have to figure out myself not to mention if I don’t get my car fixed I have to pay $140 for diagnostic fees because car shield misleads they’re customers into thinking they’re here for us. I’ve been working my *** excuse my language~ off during this pandemic, putting my life on the line for my clients to feel comfortable and safe, having to provide for my household because whoever is signing off on these laws aren’t helping the essential workers. I thank god to this day my elderly client or my child wasn’t in the car when my transmission went out. No one from carshield has called me to say that my claim wasn’t covered. No one has given me an explanation but you all are continuing taking money from my account. If your not going to help fix my car , refund me my money from this month that you all just took from me and the previous month before. That’s $260. I don’t want to cancel my services I’d honestly just like for my car to be repaired.
So I purchased my car shield warranty about a month ago and during the time for the warranty to kick in you know the 20days 500miles probation period. My car transmission either slipped or went out while I was driving home from work. I’m like okay no big deal I’ve heard nothing but good things about carshield I’ll just wait for my warranty to kick it and they’ll help me fix it. At least that was my mindset before. So my probation period ended on the July 31st and I filled my claim either on the 31st or Aug 1. Everything went smoothly from point A to B getting to point C which is the dealership. The tow company came with ease, dropped my car off with ease, and the dealership and I started to process the claim. I already knew the call times were through the roof so I gave the dealership employee the same email address I received over the phone so he can get the process started. I leave while they handle they’re business there and allow a couple days to pass. The dealership emails me stating they got in contact with someone over at car shield and carshield will not cover my transmission being fixed. I feel betrayed and like a complete i

We have contacted the claims department to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. As noted in every CarShield contract, all vehicles have a 20 day/500 mile waiting period because CarShield does not perform an initial inspection on the vehicles it covers. Your claim was not authorized because the vehicle was only driven 1 mile since the date of purchase and is therefore not eligible for coverage.
CarShield will refund your payment as a gesture of goodwill. You will receive the full refund via check within 7-10 business days. This will cancel your account with CarShield.
We are sorry to lose you as a CarShield customer and wish you well.

I have a 2012 Ford Mustang that blew an engine. I took it to Ford for repairs. CarShield did not cover the full repair bill like they said they would. My call to them on July 7th 2020 will prove that. On that day I spoke with my CarShield claims adjuster. He was misleading in what would be covered. I now owe Ford $3000 for the repair bill balance, and they will not release my vehicle to me. I am going to lose my job because of this. Ford had given me a loaner vehicle for me to get back and forth to work. When they completed the repairs I had to return their vehicle to them. My job is too far away for me to take an Uber back and forth, AND still have to pay a car note and car insurance for a car that’s not in my possession. My claims adjuster specifically stated that if I let CarShield pay for the engine, instead of Ford, that I wouldn’t have to come out of pocket for anything other than my $100 deductible. Anyone who listens to our call will hear that I was misinformed/misled/lied to.
We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

On June 24th, 2020, I proceeded to purchase policy number *** with the car shield representative by the name of ***. At that time, I purchased this policy for my 2004 BMW 325CI, my leisure car, as we only drove it for leisure on the weekends.
This was clearly stated to the representative whom sold the policy and who in order to sell such policy has to hold an insurance policy brokers license. As an educated consumer many questions were asked to make sure we were on the same page, and what we heard was the deciding factor. He stated that there was a 20 day waiting period, he stated that the miles did not matter, This was important, one because we only drive it for leisure and two because now more than ever we barely use it.
upon be stranded on Sunday, July 26th, 2020 we proceeded to file a claim, at which first they denied because it had not been long enough, than after I had emailed them, they come back and say, that the car should have been driven a certain amount of miles.
This is unacceptable as the broker specifically said there was no miles required,
I am sure there is a recording of this conversation
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
We have reviewed the sales call on June 24th, 2020 and during the recap of the sales at the end of the call, our sales representative did advise of the 20 day/ 500 mile waiting period. Our waiting period terms are also noted in the contract on 4th page (page D1) of your contract. CarShield contracts also come with a 30 day/money back guarantee so that our customers have time to review the contract terms and decide whether they want to keep coverage.
If you are unhappy with your contract, CarShield is willing to refund your payments as a gesture of goodwill and in good faith to resolve this matter. This would cancel your contract with CarShield.
Please contact us if you like to proceed with the cancellation and start the refund process. We thank you for being a CarShield customer.
