For over a month now since June 2020 my car has been sitting at the car repair shop, with out anyone from the claims department calling us back, my claim # is ***. It’s not fare that everything my monthly payment is being made and I can’t get any service done to my car. Each time a Rep Calls back I’m told that to call back and someone from the claims department will call back but one one has reached out to the shop during normal business hours 9am-4pm eastern standard time (New York Time) the number to the shop is

I joined Car Shield in Feb.2020 and my engine light went on about 2 weeks ago. The CarX mgr said it is an Oxygen Sensor needing to be replaced and we have both been calling Car Shield for over a week to get an authorization to replace it. I can not get anyone to return my calls and neither has the CarX mgr. They will only answer if I am a new customer and then I got to talk to a live person who told me I have to contact American Auto Shield to get approval for the repair. Well they claim they have had a phone power outage for the past week and no further communication from them. They never returned any of my phone calls!! Can you help me ?? I also would like to file a Class Action law suit against them if this continues. I have to get this sensor replaced in order to get my car emission tested for my new license sticker due by the end of August.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Our claims department experienced intermittent phone and internet issues last week and were unable to start new claims. We realize these issues are not acceptable and certainly do not reflect our commitment to provide the highest levels of service. We apologize for the customer’s inconvenience and look forward to providing excellent service in the future.
Your repair facility will to contact *** to start the claim process. I am rejecting this response because:they haven't responded to me or to the CarX mgr in Fairview Heights, IL. He has tried numerous times to file a claim but only gets a recorded message at all the phone numbers we both have for contacting them !!!!I don't think they give a hoot if we file a claim or not. How do I start a Class Action law suit against them.
Sincerely
We apologize for the delays in facilitating your claim.Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, most American Auto Shield ("AAS") employees are working remotely; as a result, some callers are experiencing connection issues and extended hold times. Likewise, during the week of July 20, 2020, we experienced interruptions to our claims and telephone systems. Our systems are now fully operational and we are working to reach out to all claimants who were affected during the previous week. We realize these issues are not acceptable and certainly do not reflect our commitment to provide the highest levels of service. We apologize for your inconvenience and look forward to providing excellent service in the future. We have escalated this with leadership in the Claims Department and you should receive a call back shortly.

I literally can't get an adjuster to look at my vehicle and its been weeks. I cancelled my policy and requested a refund. Refund period is within 30 days, you can't file a claim within 30 days so you have no clue what you're really getting into.

As stated in all CarShield contracts, each customer is given a 30 day money back guarantee to review the terms of the contract and determine if they want to keep coverage. I have had Carshield for 8 months, and now when I need them they won't answer the phone. My transmission went out and both my mechanic and myself have been trying to call them to get verification on payment of replacing the transmission. Customer service did speak with me in the beginning, and they told me to go rent a car. So I did, Now Carshield has ghosted both me and my mechanic, my car is not being fixed, and I am paying for a rental car.

I had a car under the warranty of Car Shield. It broke down in April and I took it to a repair shop. Horn Automotive of Marion, IA. After an adjuster gave them the go ahead, they rebuilt my engine to the tune of 4400 bucks. It was completed and an invoice submitted 7/10/2020. After a few days with no response, I started calling Car Shield. I got long waits and transfers to be hung up on. Every time I got someone who said they could help, they made promises that the next day I would get a call which I never have. Yesterday, I was told that I would hear from them by noon today for sure regarding the final settlement. My mechanic has the same issue with trying to contact them. In the meantime, I am keeping paying them premiums and I am making payments on my car which I cannot drive before paying. I bought this insurance because I knew I couldn't afford a multi thousand dollar car repair. Now I just am screwed both ways until this is resolved.
CarShield is here to address your concerns.
We have contacted your service contract administrator to obtain notes on the repair claim you have referenced. Their notes indicate your claim is still pending as they have not yet authorized the repairs to your vehicle. The claims department is in the process of reviewing the requested records your repair facility sent yesterday. Your repair facility will be contacted once a decision is made on your vehicle.

I have this company to warranty my car. I had a problem with the car and I thought it was the battery, but it turned out the alternator. My mechanic wanted to put in a Delco part, which he could warranty. Carshield would not let that happen. They wanted to put him to put in a part that they would send to him. He fixed that and they paid for it. A week later I parted in my driveway and what I thought was steam started coming out of the car. I popped the hood and there was a fire ! What I thought was steam was smoke. I got some water and put out the fire and had the car towed to my mechanic. He looked at it and told me it was the alternator that Carshield had sent that caused the fire. The fire also burned the wire harness. Carshield said they couldn't find one, so my mechanic found a recycled unit. He got the car fixed, but Carshield put us off day after day by saying that they couldn't find the part. My car was held hostage for a month because Carshield ghosted both me and my mechanic. They showed up at the shop to collect their subpar alternator, but they just keep giving the run-around to their policy holder.

I got car shield 3 months ago and tv advertising said they cover engine transmission and heating cooling and power windows so I paid 89.99 a month 2 weeks ago I took my van to dealership with a knocking in engine and found out it needed several parts that thought car shield would cover cause of there add and found out they only paid 1600 out of 4000 I had to pay the rest plus my 100.00 deductible this is misleading and how can they put people in there commercial saying they paid there repair bills when they dont. That is dishonesty. Also they say they pay for car rental and they only paid for 1 day out of 3 for me.As soon as my money is out I will be dropping it
CarShield is here to address your concerns.

I purchased an extended warranty with them. 2 months down the line my check engine light came on and the dealership said is was something wrong with my intake system which is a part of the engine itself. My warranty was for engine and trainsmission . I called car shield and it took them a week to get back in touch with me and the person said that the warranty I purchased would not cover it. I was and still am upset, 5 calls and 4 hang ups later they didnt offer me an apology for anything. I canceled my service but I requested them to return my 2 months of payments and they refused.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

I have had a warranty with them on my Dodge Ram 1500 since 6/2020. I have made three payments so far. I took my car into a repair shop. My car needs the rear end replaced and it's going to cost $1910.17. I have to pay a $100 deductible through their warranty and they would pay the remainder. My mechanic is trying to file a claim and he can never get through to them. This has been going on for almost two weeks. I finally got a hold of them and they told me they would email a form to my mechanic and he hasn't received it. Now they are not answering my calls and I need for them to pay for the repairs. I bought this because it was cheaper than financing a new vehicle.

It is taking over 4 days to reach someone in the claims department to file a claim for service. The dealership and myself have been on hold each at least 3 to 4 hours each day. At least 3 times, someone answers the line it goes dead. This makes you have to call back and get back into queue. This is extremely poor customer service! I have been in queue yesterday for over 3 hours and the system called me back at 7pm and the line went dead. All I want is my vehicle repaired. Now I have to pay the diagnostic fee of $140 to the dealer to pick my vehicle up, because Car Shield will not answer or call back to approve the claim for service.
This company offers false advertisement, as getting your vehicle repaired is not so simple or easy. It is very hard and frustrating for the dealership and myself as a customer to call the claims department and hold over 3 hours and never get a claim submitted. I will be looking to cancel my service contract with this company and look to contact the federal government on how they are taking you money monthly and not honoring their commitment to its customers.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. However, it is sad to find out that after making an initial call to see if my service request would be covered and the representative stated "YES" that after 5 days of frustrating calls and messages that my services will "NOT" be covered.
This is so disappointing and discouraging as a client with this company. I am now back on hold for over 2 hours and 42 mins to find out why was I told to take my car and then find out after all this frustration that it will not be covered. This is unacceptable!
Sincerely
Deceptive sales tactics:
When I purchased my policy in May 2017 for $3694, I explained to the salesperson that I wanted a "Bumper to Bumper" policy just like the dealer's extended warranty. They assured me their Diamond coverage was just that. They also don't explain to you that they are only a reseller and the policy is really through United Car Care. They never sent me anything in the mail as promised. I only received an email of a CarShield graphic with my name, policy# and coverage name. Along with that is a contract attached but has the word "SPECIMEN" written across every page. Is this a legit contract or just a sample? I don't know. I called them about this at the time and they said all I need to file a claim is to call them and give my phone number. They assured me at that time they would be sending me the "Welcome packet" with all the information and contract. I have never received anything yet.
I did not find that this is a "component" warranty until my first claim. I was having heater issues where I was not getting any heat blowing on the floor. Took it to the dealer and there was a $700 diagnostic fee to remove the heat exchanger to troubleshoot what is wrong. They found broken dampers causing the issue. Car Shield/United Car Care denied the claim as they do not cover these components. That was $1900 out of pocket. I complained to Car Shield and got the passing of the buck that it was United Car Care, I told them I was going to cancel my payments with Discover. They agreed at that time that they would reduce my payments by the $700 diagnostic fee which they did.
Current Claim:
My truck has been at the dealer for two days waiting for Car Shield to approve the repairs. First, you sent the dealer to the wrong company American Auto Shield instead of United Car Care that my policy is through. Now, I have to wait until Monday or Tuesday for a rep to review the replacement of the turbo which is covered in black and white in my Diamond coverage. Then after that, it will be a couple more days for them to order the new turbo and replace it. We are suppose to leave for vacation tonight for next week, but that has been cancelled now.
The inspector came out and said he cannot approve the claim until he has more proof. They do not go by "Check Engine Light" codes and dealers word. He wants the dealer to remove the turbo and break it down on the bench to find the reason for failure. This is a variable vanes actuator issue and Tom said upfront that if this is due to soot, the claim will be denied. This is a $900 diagnostic fee and a $5000 gamble because the cost of the turbo replacement is $6000.
On inspection, the Dealer found a front suspension bar failure. Per Chrysler's TSBs, they have to replace both sides at the same time. They will only cover once side but not the other. That is another $700 out of pocket for me. This is a 6800 lb truck and I tow a 10,000 lb trailer with it. If my front suspension breaks, I can kill or injure my family, self or somebody else on the road.
Tom from United Car Care sited chapter and verse of the contract of why they will not cover these items. I have talked to upper management of Car Shield and I get the passing of the buck that is is not us it is the contract between you and United Car Care. She said contracts are "iron clad".
Thank you for contacting us and bringing this to our attention. We appreciate the opportunity to respond to and help in the resolution of this matter.
Your purchased your service contract on May 2, 2017. Your service contract booklet containing the terms and conditions of your vehicle service contract was mailed to you on May 5, 2017. Tracking is showing that your service contract booklet was delivered to your *** address on May 9, 2017.
As shown in your service contract terms and stated during the initial sale, United Car Care is your service contract claims administrator. United Car Care has full authority over repair claim procedures, approvals and payments and is the obligated party under your service contract terms. We contacted United Car Care to obtain information on the repair claim you have brought to our attention. United Car Care stated that they paid a claim on 7/28/2020 for a front suspension control arm and flange. This was paid on July 28, 2020.
They also stated that a repair claim was presented on July 24, 2020 for your vehicles turbo. As stated in your service contract terms, diagnosis to find the cause of failure is required to determine if this is a failure that is covered under your vehicle service contract. You refused to allow diagnosis of the turbo and United Car Care could not proceed with the repair claim.

I have been trying to contact the claims department at Car Shield( which they say is also known as American Auto Shield) and everytime I call I'm on hold for an hour or longer and my call is never answered. When I speak with customer service all they do is give me the phone number to the claims department. I have also tried to file the claim online (twice) and no one has reached out yet. Its going on 5 days. My car is in the shop being repaired (starter issues) and I have yet to speak with anyone in the car shield claims department.
CarShield is here to address your concerns.
We have reviewed the notes made by the claims department and see that you and repair facility spoke with the claims department yesterday, July 29th, 2020. The notes indicate the repair facility was lost on the call. They have requested an adjuster reach out to your repair facility as soon as possible to get the claim moving forward.
We appreciate your continued patience and thank you for being a loyal CarShield customer.

I have a Car Shield Diamond package. I have had it for two years. I went to have my vehicle worked on. They would not cover the work that needed to be done, about $500 - $600 worth of work: AC evaporator. The shop could not get in touch with them for seven days. I went ahead and paid for it on my own. I have tried calling to cancel with Car Shield and they told me that I had to write a letter to them. They said they would not reimburse me since I already paid for the repair. I have never even used them on any repair.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
CarShield would be happy to forward your invoice for repairs to the claims department to determine if you are due a reimbursement. Please email the invoice *** and we will forward it to the correct party for review.
We appreciate you being a loyal CarShield customer and look forward to assisting you in this matter.

I have been a Carshield customer for over a year now and have made payments every month. The rear air conditioner of my Ford Econoline E150 van stopped working so I brought it to a repair shop that accepted the Carshield protection plan. On July 20, 2020, the repair shop called Carshield to put in a claim; however, Carshield informed the repair shop that their claims department computers were down so Carshield couldn't accept claims at that moment and it would probably take around two days to get the computers back up. On July 22, I called the repair shop and they told me that Carshield wasn't taking any claims. Therefore, I decided to call Carshield and they informed me that their claims computers were down but the repair shop could place a claim online (***). The repair shop submitted the claim online later that day. The repair shop made the repairs, assuming that the claim would be approved since they had not had any issues with Carshield in the past. Since that day, I've been trying to get in touch with Carshield and no one is answering my calls. You're placed in a continuous answering machine stating that they are "currently experiencing longer than normal hold times" and that you could punch the star button (*) for a call back; however, the call back doesn't work. I've called two to three times every day since then and NO ONE ANSWERS! It's now July 29 and the repair shop wants me to pick up my van and pay them the $450+ for repairs.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
We have contacted your service contract administrator to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. Their notes indicate the part needed for repair was your vehicle was a part not listed for coverage under your vehicle service contract terms.
In an effort to resolve this matter, CarShield will refund your payments in full. You can expect one payment to the VIA *** and the remainder will be sent via check within 7-10 business days.
We are sorry to lose you as a CarShield customer.

My car has been sitting waiting for repair authorization from Car Shield since July 8th, 2020. Myself and the dealership have responded to their requests within 24 hours ie oil change receipts and pictures of the transmission. We have called every day, often left on hold for several hours. Twice we were left on hold for 5 hours, I have picture of the call duration. We are continually told that they will get back to us. Still no answer and I have been without a vehicle for 3 weeks.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
We have reviewed the notes in your file and see you spoke with someone in our customer service department who advised you as to the status of your claim. We appreciate your patience and thank you for your business.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.
With regards to the above consumer complaint against Car Shield.A representative from Car Shield contacted us this morning and advised the have approved the repair. The transmission is being replaced with a used transmission with less miles and a 12 month 12,000 mile warranty.

After seeing so many of the celebrity endorsed commercials for this company I decided to give it a try. The agent that sold me me contract said it was extending my cars warranty which is a flat out lie. It is a very narrow and limited warranty for example it covers the power windows but not the electrical system in the car.
So I tried and tired and tried to get a hold of them on the phone after I read my contract when I received it in the mail a month late.
I finally get a hold of *** who is rude, aggressive and callous on the phone. She was extremely hostile and condescending when I tried to cancel trying to come up with reasons for me not to instead of just helping me.
She then tells me, oh yeah you're at day 65 of your 60 day cancellation so too bad we are keeping your money.
I pointed out that I didn't not use this warranty at all but she claimed that I did just because having it meant I was somehow using it. After a few insulting statements we ended our conversation. We are in the middle of a global pandemic and the world is falling apart, customer service is at an all time low but that is not excuse to steal people's money and provide nothing in return.
I should have known better that to trust a company like this.
We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.
We have contacted the claims department to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. Their notes indicate you requested to cancel your account when you realized your service contract terms do not cover electrical issues. CarShield contracts come with a 30 day/money back guarantee so that you have time to review the contract and determine if there are any terms you don't like. Your contract is over the 30 days period and is not eligible for a refund.
CarShield in a gesture of goodwill will refund you in full for your contract. You can expect the payment back to your *** within 3-5 business days.
We are sorry to lose you as a CarShield customer and apologize for any confusion when purchasing your contract.

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because they have failed to take responsibility for the following:
- Misleading information provided at the time of the purchase of the contract
- Complete unwillingness to assist me on the phone
- Rude and aggressive conduct of *** the employee I dealt with who and I quote said "we get plenty of bogus complaints to the Revdex.com because we are the best car warranty company"
- Noting that I am STILL waiting for a supervisor to call me back in spite of three separate requests to do so, 2 via phone and 1 via e-mail.
- So they can apologize, and note that I did not even put a claim in but rather read the contract that they finally sent me a month late that excludes a ton of items. I never used or attempted to use this warranty
- *** because they are a good company has already reversed the charges so I'll take a genuine apology for what they did to me vs acting like they are doing me a favor by refunding something I already got my money back for.
Sincerely
We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.
We have reviewed the call on July 21st, 2020 when you requested information on the policy you purchased on May 15th, 2020. During the call, our sales representative explained that your contract was unavailable for refund at which time you suggested calling your credit card company to get your payment back. Our notes indicate there was a charge back to your account and you have been refunded as requested during that call.
Your account has also been cancelled as you requested. There was no call made to you after you cancelled the policy and received the charge back because the account was closed.
We do apologize for any confusion about the coverage during the initial sales call.
