I purchased a used vehicle on 4-2-2020. After getting oil change it was noted that I had a front differential and possibly oil leak issues. I shopped around for a affordable Mechanic and on 4-16-2020 the repair shop I found stated there was no oil leak only a spill in the timing cover. They gave me a estimate for the differential which was extremely high so I had it towed to ***. I got the differential fixed and repaired with no other issues. I purchase a extended warranty on 4-23-2020 so if something else ever comes up wrong with the vehicle I’m not out of thousand and thousand of dollars again. On 4-27-20 I picked up my vehicle from repair shop and drive it as usual. On June 5 went to get my calibers painted but told when I turn off the car it was making this wear noise. They looked at the vehicle and stated the timing chain and super charge was having issues and needed to be repaired. I got an estimate but then realized I now have a warranty. I gave them the warranty info and have been waiting for over a month to finally get a answer. Which at first they accused me of owning the car since 2016. Then I sent over the buyer documentation. They then said that jaguar said I had timing issues but I decline, when in fact jaguar stated I may have a timing cover leak! Which was checked and validated to be none on 4/16/20. After that argument didn’t work they said the mechanic who fixed the differential has where he fixed the differential that the timing cover noise needed to be check when he was only referencing the previous estimate I got from jaguar and me telling him I was hearing noise and timing because as a none mechanic I was only telling them what I knew this far which was sometime about timing cover and the car making noise which both repair shops pinned on the noise being the differential. The adjuster *** was rude and told me he was hanging up after I told him I wasn’t understand how I can be denied. He then stated he’s basing it off the day the repair was completed and the date I purchase the warranty even tho my issue didn’t start til months later and after I had driven it. He said the time starts from when I got purchase warranty until the repair date for repairs I spent my own thousand of dollars on. I only got the warranty so I don’t ever have to incur a expense like this in the future. Didn’t know the future would be months later.

Purchased a warranty in Jan. Had issues with my truck and needed to have the fuel system replaced. Inspector informed mechanic to tear down the system so it could be inspected. The shop performed that work, and got parts ready for inspection. Inspector came out and looked at parts, they agreed they were damaged and needed to be replaced. But they denied the claim due to “suspension modifications” and since I didn’t have that portion of coverage in my policy the claim was denied. They also informed me that since “I” didn’t mention this information to them, the warranty they sold me has been null and void since the day they sold it to me. They never asked or mentioned anything about suspension or tires, if they had I would have told them and payed for the coverage at initial contract date, considering it was only like an additional 40.00 per month. I have since purchased the “suspension modification” coverage in hopes that they would help me with the 11,000 dollars plus repair bill, but have not had any luck. I have requested manager call backs, when they do, they say I need to contact service provider, service provider says I need to contact the contract seller, I have done both and requested a copy of the phone conversation and had ZERO response. I have also emailed them in regards to their arbitration laws and no response.

CarShield Response • Jul 10, 2020

We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

We have reviewed the sales call and you were asked about modification to your vehicle during that call. Any claims that were filed after the sales calls will not be authorized as the surcharge for modifications was not added to your policy. We do see the modification charge has been added to your contract. The current claim is not covered but future claims would be covered.

CarShield can refund your payments but it would cancel your contract. Please email us at [email protected] if you wish to proceed with the cancellation.

We hope to keep you as a CarShield customer.

We appreciate your reaching out to us again.

In your service contract, under exclusions, it says the following... "...mechanical breakdown or failure of any otherwise covered part that is directly or indirectly related to a part or system that did not meet manufacturer's specification or has been otherwise modified or altered. such parts and modifications include but are not limited to: headers, altered ignition system, altered engine management systems, free flow exhaust system, aftermarket sunroofs, aftermarket alarm systems, snow plows, oversized or undersized tires, wheels or life and drop kids, whether or not the vehicle was purchased with such."

Now that you have added the surcharge for modifications, you will be covered for any future repairs covered under your contract terms. However, this repair claim is not eligible for payment. If you are not happy with your service contract for any reason, we would be willing to refund you in full for the payments you have made to date in a good faith effort to resolve this matter for you. I am rejecting this response because:I want to hear the recorded phone call, so do I need to have my lawyer write up something requesting the original phone call??

Sincerely

Signed up for a contract with these guys, was told on the phone that 100% of the engine, transmission and A/C were covered with a deductible while purchasing, however that is not the case. Yes, they emailed me a copy of said contract after I gave them money and guess what? Buried in the fine print of the 60+ page of contract it sates that only certain things are covered and when I had an issue with my A/C and brought it to the shop, only $287 of a $900 bill is covered, had to pay over $600 out of pocket. Also, when I tried to call to try and get this resolved, was on hold for over an hour, transferred multiple times, disconnected a few times and had to call back and the last person I spoke with seemed like they did not care at all. Why am I paying a monthly bill? I am not anymore, cancelling with them today. Be careful......

My mechanic has had my truck for over a month and he has already told me the issue but nobody from the dealership can get an adjuster to come look at the truck for the approval. I cannot even get a claims person on the phone sometimes I’m hold for over 30 minutes..reading all of these reviews makes me wonder if I’m going to have to fit the bill for this..this is becoming quite frustrating. There is no reason why we have not made contact with an adjuster. No excuse.. maybe if I could get some progress then my rating with improve

I had coverage on my car for some months then put my car in the shop my claim was denied because the sales guy sold me the the wrong coverage then they redid my contract and informed me that the issue is now considered a pre existing issue and they won’t cover the work that need to be done on the car I’ll have to pay for the labor and parts because they had to void out the contract I had been paying on for months

We have reviewed the sales call and when asked if your vehicle had a salvaged or branded title you said it did not. It's not until you brought your car in for repairs and we pulled the CarFax records that we discovered the branded title. The branded or salvaged title makes your contract with CarShield null and void if there was no surcharge added to the policy. We see that you have a new contract with the surcharge for the branded title noted. I have had this service for over a year. I asked to cancel my service and I can not believe how rude they were with me. I was informed that they would not honor the last remaining month and I would not receive a refund. I feel as though they punish people if you choose to cancel. Fair warning. I bought this warranty for my two Honda’s and paid $180.00 a month for the warranty. Two weeks later I had two claims neither of which was covered. I called and told to wait until the end of the month to cancel as there was no pro rating to give me part I paid on the 4th of the month. This is the sixth and I have a worthless warranty. I was told by a competing company that they were going out of business because off their poor record on claims. Do NOT believe the commercials on TV because that’s the only thing they pay for. I purchased my contract on jan 2019 and on feb 2019 I had a issue with my vehicle; but being because I had just recently bought the contract I did not do a claim I handle it on my own.
now a year and a half later I need my warranty for a issue and they have denied my claim because of pre existing condition. which when I bought the contract there was no issue.
I am a single mother with 2 small kids my only car, been paying for this warranty one year and half with no claims and they are going to deny me !!
I am extremely unsatisfied with this company. Taking my money for a whole year like that

AND WHEN I BOUGHT MY CONTRACT MY CAR WAS WORKING PERFECT.I HAD JUST FINISHED MY 30 DAYS OF TRAIL FOR EFFECTIVENESS. AFTER THE 30DAYS LIKE A COUPLE OF DAYS AFTER WAS WHEN I STARTED WITH MY ISSUE OF MY VEHICLE AND THAT'S WHY I DECIDED TO HANDLE IT ON MY OWN BECAUSE IT WAS TOO CLOSE TO THE DATE AND I THOUGHT IT WOULD HAVE DENIED OR EVEN CONSIDERED FRAUD BECAUSE OF THE TIME FIME, SO I DECIDED TO HANDLED IT ON MY OWN WITH NO CLAIM.SO THAT PART OF THE REPLY FROM CAR SHIELD IS INCORRECT.WHAT I WANT IS MY VEHICLE FIXED!!THAT IS WHY I PURCHASED A WARRANTY.( THIS IS FRAUD FROM CAR SHIELD)They stated that they have multiple invoices showing your vehicle's transmission issues were present prior to the purchase of your service contract. The representative you spoke with when you purchased your service contract did let you know that no problems with your vehicle that are pre-existing the effective date are eligible for coverage. This would cancel your coverage going forward. WHY WOULD CAR SHIELD DO THIS INSTEAD OF JUST PAYING FOR MY REPAIR. IT MAKES NO SENSE IT'S ALMOST THE SAME AMOUNT OF MONEY AS A USED TRANSMISSION IF THEY WOULD FIX IT.LIKE I STATED I AM A SINGLE MOM WITH 2 SMALL KIDS TAKING UBER AND BORROWING CARS TO GET MY KIDS AND MYSELF AROUND. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR ME TO HAVE MY ONLY VEHICLE WORKING FOR MY KIDS.CAR SHIELD HAS MONTHLY CASHED THERE MONTHLY FEE ELECTRONICALLY FROM MY BACK FOR ABOUT 15 MONTHS NOW AND THEY DENY MY CLAIM WHEN I NEED THEM.THIS IS SUCH A FRAUDULENT MOVE PLEASE GET BACK TO ME ***OR EMAIL ME IT'S IMPORTANT FOR ME TO FIX MY VEHICLE

In the latter part of June, 2020, I signed up per telephone with Carshield, to cover my 2013 Ford edge. The cost was $79.99 per month beginning in July, 2020. I ask them twice when my first payment would come due and they told me both times the charge would start in July.

I rec'd my *** credit card statement and carshield charged me S79.99 on Jun. 4th and again on Jul. 3. I called Carshield and they told me the $79.99 charge on Jun. 4th was a down payment. I explained to the woman that nothing was mentioned to me about a down payment when I signed up. She checked with their customer service and was told that I had agreed to the down payment. This is untrue. I ask that Carsheild refund me the charge of $79.99 in June. The woman and apparently the service dept. refused to refund the June charge on my credit card.

I explained to the woman that I could not let them do me this way, telling me "after the fact" that I agreed to the down payment. I called *** and had them to block any further charges from Carshield to my credit account. I also told the woman on the phone at Carshield to cancel me with their service, which she agreed to do.

It seems to me that this is another shyster attack on us consumers. Carshield owes me a refund for the June charge to my credit card account in the amount of $79.99.

I totally agree with other customers. Car shield is a total scam. My AC for my car works but air was not cold. So I took it to the shop. He told me that I need to replace a hose that will cost me to include labor is $2000.00. I gave him my car shield documents and will let me know. Later on the day, the shop called me saying it is hard to get car shield on the phone BUT according to car shield, no work can be done until car shield do an inspection to my vehicle. I asked what is this inspection for? something that car shield never mentioned to customers when they first sign up. If the inspection result of the AC was caused by anything other than what ever they're looking for during their inspection. I found out 99% customer will pay. What the hell, looks who is doing the inspection? From car shield and that is their job is to make sure that car shield never pays for any maintenance. I wrote a letter to them to cancel my plan. Need to remove the commercial on TV.

We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.
We have contacted the claims department to obtain notes on the repair claim you have referenced. As stated in your contract terms, a tear down of a failed part might be required to determine the cause of failure. Their notes from June 8, 2020, indicate the repair facility was waiting on authorization from you to do a tear down of the air conditioner. The file is considered still pending but will be moved to inactive status if you have chosen not to move forward with the claim.
Your request for cancellation was received on June 18, 2020 and has been processed.
We are sorry to lose you as a CarShield customer.

The dealership nor I could get payment authorization to the dealership for needed repairs. We wasted 3 days attempting to get the authorization, and the dealership service manager spent a total of 4 hours in 2 days to get the authorization. Very poor customer service!!! I cancelled my account.
