We put our car into the shop and was told we had to pay out of pocket for the services and would be refunded. Once we filed the paper work they told us that what we had done wasn’t covered even tho while it was in the shop they assured us it was. This is the worst company I have ever done business with!

CarShield Response • Jun 29, 2020

We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.
We have contacted your service contract administrator to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. They have informed us there was never a repair claim filed on your behalf. The notes do state you had concerns about your air conditioning compressor and a gear module and had taken your vehicle to your repair facility.
As stated in your vehicle service contract terms, all repairs must be approved prior to the repairs being performed to ensure there is no confusion on what repairs are covered components and what if any out of pocket expenses will be incurred.
If you would like to submit your invoice, signed by yourself, we will get it sent to your service contract administrator to review to see if there is any reimbursement due. You can email the invoice for the repairs to ***.
We look forward to hearing from you and working towards a resolution.

I purchased a contract from Car shield for my 2013 Chevrolet Traverse 2LT SUV on May 29, 2020.
I purchased a protection plan and the employee that took my information that the contract was enforced as soon as I send $79.00. After paying the $79.00, a contract was sent to my phone stating that the contract was in effect as soon as payment was received by Car Shield on May 29, 2020. A few days later, my air conditioner made loud noise and started to smoke. I immediately turned the air conditioner off. I called Serra Chevrolet and asked if they honor Car Shield and they said yes. I took the Traverse to Serra Chevrolet on June 9, 2020 and they stated that the air conditioner compressor, condenser, front and rear expansion valves, plus the O rings . Including labor, the price was $2,200.00 and I was to pay only $100.00 I had a claim number and showed the contract to the dealership. Car Shield would NOT honor the warranty because they stated: you have to wait at least thirty days and 500 miles and you should know when your ac compressor goes out. The Service Advisor at Serra Chevrolet also talked to Car Shield officials about repairing the vehicle and was told Car Shield would not honor the warranty even though Serra would lower the price of the parts. In order to avoid storage fees, I picked up the car from Serra on June 13, 2020 and paid $236.00 for the diagnostic fee. I had to rent a car for past few weeks because I have a sick child and she has to have air conditioning. Car Shield took $79.00 out of my bank account and I told them that the account was empty. They also took another $79.00 off my state unemployment benefits card in the same month. I have tried to call Car Shield every day in order to speak to a supervisor and each time I was placed on hold for at least an hour and car Shield would not answer nor return any of my phone calls. I want Car Shield to honor their warranty along with reimbursement for car rental and the $79.00 plus bank fees for taking the money out of my account.

You purchased a Powertrain Gold Vehicle Service Contract for your 2013 Chevy Traverse on May 29, 2020. At the time you purchased your service contract, the representative you spoke with let you know that there was a 20 day and 500 mile waiting period before your service contract would be effective, just to make sure everything was running okay. The waiting period is also listed prominently on the declaration page of your service contract.

There is not a waiting period for roadside assistance, as shown in your contract terms in section C.

Your repair facility submitted a repair claim on June 11, 2020, clearly inside your 20 day waiting period. This repair in not eligible for coverage.

They misrepresent their company. My vehicle sat in a repair facility for over a month. They had two inspection on my vehicle a week apart. They only let me have used parts for my vehicle. They did not pay the amount they allowed for a rental vehicle. This company is a sham, and I would never recommend this Carshield company to anyone. It's a very misleading company.

I am completely appalled by the insensitivity and lack of professionalism with Carshield and ***. The serviceman at Nissan told me today that he has never experienced this type of pushback and hassle from an extended warranty company. This claims process has been most frustrating for me. Although approved, Nissan has been waiting on the parts for my AC for almost two weeks, even though they have all the necessary parts in-house at the dealership. I recently moved to Orlando for work, and my AC went out. Since I work from my car as an insurance agent, I am changing my clothing three times a day from sweating immensely. The representative told me to rent a vehicle and I'll be reimbursed. If I could have afforded this, I would. Spending $116 faithfully each month for back and forth heated conversations with representives, is not worth my time nor energy, especially when supervisors and managers promise to get back with me and never do. I am highly disappointed!

This is a horrible car warranty. Do not buy it. It costs us $109 per month and they denied a transmission repair without explaining why. We had routine oil changes, a transmission flush, and rear differential change. Even worse than the denial is that it took over a month to get the denial. We paid for a rental car during the entire time which was $1083 (they paid $160 on rental car, that's the max available). We had to pay the dealership $600 to open and close the transmission per Car Shields request. It was a 30 minute or more wait to get a live person and then you get transferred into a black hole. Terrible experience and will definitely be cancelling this warranty now that I have been forced to pay for everything and still get denied without an explanation.

I've been a platinum member for over 2 years now and my experience has been a nightmare! My initial claim was dealt with terribly. My differential gears went bad on my 2013 Jeep Wrangler. To make a long story short, I got the run around from the adjustors (***) about what they'll cover. I was without my Jeep for a month and a half. Nothing but a bunch of *** over the phone about parts and shipping them. After the adjustors gave the green light the parts hadn't been sent for God knows how long.
It was so bad, that after it was finally fixed I had the representative talk to her supervisor and they agreed to reduce my monthly premium from $120 to $110/month. I just had another claim last Tuesday and expressed my concerns with them about my awful experience with my first claim and that I did not want to have the same crap happen like last time. I called them this afternoon and asked the status of my current claim and they said that the dealership had not emailed the pictures they asked for, when in fact they did. I immediately called the dealership and he said he did. I politely asked him to email them two more times just to be sure. He did. So now I will sit here and play the waiting game and phone tag with these adjustors about my repairs. I will not recommend Car Shield to anyone. It seems to me that their partners *** is their apparent problem. The representatives that I've spoken to were very polite and understanding. But, do to my circumstances, I wouldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy!

Purchased carshield for my car and a month and half later I ran into issues. Took my vehicle in and the torque converter needed replacing. Filed a claim with carshield and it had gotten denied because Carshield is calling it pre existing issues. The issues I had prior to my torque converter was injector stuff and I had done a complete flush of injection system. 2,540 miles my torque converter started acting up and car shield is telling me it is pre exciting condition.
I was without my car for 4 weeks because the dealership that replaced my converter though it wouldn’t be safe on the road. All said and done the replacement torque converter took a whole day to replace. Yet I did not have my car for 4 weeks because carshield would not call back and give straight answers to the dealer ship. I had to call back and forth to carshield and at times was on hold for hours. Finally I would get in touch with someone but got no where and would get transferred and eventually I would get hung up on. I have wasted way too much time and money on carshield and would like them to do the right thing witch is pay for my service on my car or I want a refund of the $118 a month I paid them for the coverage they promised to cover if I had car issues.

CarShield Response • Jun 24, 2020

We appreciate you bringing this to our attention. We have reviewed the notes made by your service contract administrator, The notes indicate your claim was denied because the failed torque converter was considered a pre-existing condition. This decision was determined when your service contract administrator obtained information there was a concern for the transmission shifting made on February 24, 2020. The notes state to check the transmission for a shifting concern which could have been caused by a failing torque converter. CarShield will refund your 3 payments in full as a gesture of goodwill and in good effort to resolve this issue. I have asked Car Shield to stop contacting me several times. They are contacting me regarding a car I no longer have, when I tell the caller that I no longer have that car and to remove me from call lists, I get asked, "Well, what car do you have now?"

I constantly get letters in the mail with alarming things printed on them like "OPEN IMMEDIATELY". Currently, I have two letters here I received last week. One has Customer ID: ***, and the other, a different customer ID:***. I have spoken to employees at Car Shield on several occasions, also asking to be removed from the mail list.

I did get a quote from Car Shield about 2 years ago, decided it was not worth it. Now, I am getting all kinds of calls from DIFFERENT companies asking about my old car's warranty. Car Shield says they don't give your information away, but they absolutely do. All of this started after getting the Car Shield Quote. My warning to everyone is DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT.

On April 30, 2020 I contacted Carshield to inquire about their service warranty plans. The customer service representative asked me a few questions about which service I was interested in. I chose the Enhanced Powertrain Coverage. He asked me for my mileage and year of the vehicle. He explained that the coverage would cover the transmission, engine, starter and etc. I had taken my vehicle in for a transmission diagnostic to a dealership and the dealership had submitted the diagnostic results to American Auto Shield. After submitting the results, they still wanted the transmission torn apart and if the outcome of the transmission failure was not up to par than I would have to pay out of pocket for the transmission to be put back together. Also, they needed service records of transmission fluids for the past 9 months, which I did not have. Never was I told that service records, oil change records or transmission records would be needed when submitting a claim for repairs. After making 2 payments and meeting the standard requirements for a transmission repair, I was denied a claim because I did not have any records of a transmission fluid change. When asked for a reimbursement for the 2 months, I was told that I had to cancel my contract within 30 days of purchasing the contract from Carshield. This makes canceling the contract impossible because within that first 30 days, you are told that you have to have 500 miles on the original mileage of the vehicle plus 40 days of coverage before a claim can be processed.

Response: I am rejecting the response because I was never told by the Carshield Sales Rep. VERBALLY that I would need maintenance records for any transmission repairs at the time of purchasing of said contract. Yes, I understand that it is in the contract but when purchasing any contract through a Carshield Sales Rep. they should be more specific and explain in more detail what is needed before submitting claims for any repairs. They should not be in a rush to sale a contract and any questions asked should be answered in a prompt manner, which he was not. Therefore, I feel that they owe me the two payments that were made for a service that they did not provide. This company is falsely advertising and are taking advantage of consumers by promising services that they never intended to provide.

I purchased a warranty from Carshield in 1/2020. I pay $89/month. I had to take my car on 6/5. The repair shop told me they needed to replace the A/C and a belt for the steering wheel. I called Carshield and they told me to take care of everything and they gave me a contract number. They told me to give it to the repair shop and give the repair shop the claims number. The repair shop called the claims number and then Carshield denied the claim. They denied it beacuse they said they didn't receive a pre diagnostic paper from the repair shop. There's nothing in their paperwork that says that this is required. I had to pay $617.87 to get my car out of the shop. Carshield is not willing to reimburse me for the repair. When you signed up for this, they claimed that you would only pay a $100 deductible for the repairs and they would take care of the rest.

We appreciate you bringing this to our attention. We have contacted your service contract administrator to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. According to their notes, your repair facility called today indicating you have a failed ignition coil and a failed spark plug. Unfortunately neither of these are covered components of your service contract terms. If you have any further questions or disputes, please see Section M, Dispute Resolution of your contract or contact American Auto Shield directly ***. Respectfully,Customer Relations

I pay every month towards my car warranty to Car Shield my Dodge Truck has been at the car dealer shop waiting for the warranty coverage to no avail. I have produced every document that they stated their company needed and they still have not paid the deductible so my truck can be repaired. Myself and the Auto Dealer have made multiple calls, no response, rude customer service, complete run around with no resolution and will just rudely hang up the phone.
I’m hoping to get this resolved because this is my only transportation for work.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because: Carshield has no reached out to me since this complaint. My truck is still waiting for service and I am appalled that I have made payments monthly for my warranty service and this business has not delivered on their responsibility or made any payment to resolve this issue. It now going on 2 months with my truck just sitting and leaving me without any transportation and compromising my ability to get to my place of employment.

Something must be done ASAP this has become very frustrating for a very easy solution to resolve this problem.

Sincerely
