I am rejecting this response because:They should have given me a rental car, like they promise,to me. My car has been in the shop for over thirty days and I have been calling them just about everyday. They kept putting me off, and not calling me back. That's not how you do business. All Iwant right now is my car repaired ASAP. There has been too many lies between car shield and the repair shop.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Sincerely, I do expect to receive a free rental car while my vehicle is being fixed!

I purchased a vehicle warranty through the company carshield. The powertrain gold package is what I got which covered Transmission and all major parts. I filed a claim on April 29, 2020 to have my transmission repaired. I was just notified on July 1, 2020 that my claim was denied after going through this process for two months and completely complying with everything that was asked for. The company is not hold up to their end of the agreement.

We have reviewed the sales call on May 14, 2020. During the sales call, our sales representative explained covered parts of your vehicle under your monthly power train package, our 30 day/money back guarantee, and our 20 days/500 mile or 40 day/250 mile waiting period.
Unfortunately, when you brought your vehicle in to your repair facility on June 30, 2020 the repairs needed were not parts listed for coverage under your contract terms.
As requested, your contract with CarShield was cancelled on July 1, 2020. We are sorry to lose you as a CarShield customer.

I ended up paying for my repair as the car repair shop tried for 12 days to get a hole of them for approval to fix the car, which they didn't cover half of. She was on hold a total of 20 hours and still didn't get anybody to approve the repair. I had to spend an addition $698 for a car rental so I would have a car to drive. I'm going to need to fight those bill to get reimbursed. 2nd of all, you can't rent a car until you've received an approval, so I would have had to go without a car for over 12 days. When do you need a car rental? WHEN YOU DROP OFF YOUR CAR!! Customer Service said they would cover my car rental for my inconvenience but I don't believe they're going to want to cover $698.00. They're going to have to as they said they would and did not put an amount on it. All Customer Service ever says is, "It's because of Covid". I believe that to a point but I also think it gave them another scapegoat to be a very lazy service. Hire more people. Repair shops don't have 20+ hours to hold on the line while they're trying to run a business. Do you they really believe that's OK? Seriously. According to the commercial, the customer doesn't have to do anything; they just float in, drop off their car, pick it up a few days later and have no bill to deal with. That is such a load of phooey. I was on the phone everyday with customer service and my car repair shop. I plan to drop them ASAP! When I first went to the repair shop and told them I had Carshield, they rolled their eyes and said, "Ohhhhh noooo!" That should have told me something right there.

Canceled contract 6/29/20. Was told that because my payment was already drafted on 6/22/20 the coverage is still in effect until 7/22/20. The car covered was sold on Friday 6/27/20. Was told on 6/30/20 that the remaining monies would cover my new car until 7/22/20. My new car has 45 miles on it. I don’t need their coverage anymore hense the cancellation. I just want my pro-rated amount returned. This is theft!

I joined CarShield as a way to use a warranty for my 2013 Jeep Cherokee. I saw CarShield's commercial on television. In my mind it sounded like a good deal. So I joined and started paying $79.00/month. When I took my Jeep in to get my engine light a loose gas cable indicators and my air conditioner freezing. I was told that none of that was covered. One of their ads on tv specifically said that they repaired engine lights being on.

Too many people from their company called me and when I did decided to sign up with them they wanted to do an over the phone payment transaction which we all know nowadays is not safe. Also what struck me as suspicious was their price for their so called Diamond package went from over $100 a month to $69 still covering the exact same items. Keep in mind, at the time I was going to sign up with them I had know idea they had/have so many complaints against them with Revdex.com and Yelp reviews. In addition, Carshield states under each bad review that they have a lawsuit against Revdex.com for being bias when in fact all that Revdex.com does is provide the platform for people to express their experiences with businesses. Also, there’s a chance that the lawsuit that Carshield directs you to at Revdex.comBias.com is fake because they do not show a Case or Docket# for you to confirm its authenticity.
I feel the stars that it use in its commercials should be ashamed of themselves!!!!

I simply inquired about an extended warranty, within minutes I received the 1st call. The caller was polite and she asked me a few questions and then transferred me to a sales consultant. Asked the basic questions like, "Is car running ok?" "Mileage?" then told me I qualify. The price was 129.00 per month, I asked how many months? He then said till you end contract as it's month to month. I told him that's way too expensive. Surprisingly the price started dropping, 109.00 per month. Again I said no. Then 99.00 per month. I don't like the sales tactics they use and they don't like being told no. I ended the call. The next day they call back again, this time offering me 89.00 per month. The guy on the phone was a rude and very challenging, kept asking why I don't want this plan, and asked what's the real reason....So I told him he's too pushy and I don't like it and I said this call is over and hung up.
Guess what???? They called back again for the 3rd day today, this time I told the gal I am NOT INTERESTED and hung up.
I WILL NEVER BUY ANY PRODUCT FROM THIS COMPANY, BE CAREFUL IF YOU DO
If you still choose too, keep telling them no, the price went from 129/mo down to 89/mo with little effort

Typical insurance co. Paid my dues for 9 months finally the engine light comes on. Took it to the mechanic and it was the catalytic converter. Gave my Car shield information to the mechanic and thought oh I will be covered because when they sold me the policy I was told " Parts that are normal wear and tear are not covered for example Tires, Brake Pads etc. but everything else up to the value of the car is covered. Now I find out "everything" is covered except the catalytic converter I was supposed to read the contract. Typical Insurance co. they need to be regulated better. I had coverage thru my dealership which was honored by them a couple of times no fine print no hanky panky straight forward conversation. Car Shield of course is trained in the Insurance jargon and they use it to their benefit. STAY AWAY something that would have cost me $2200.00 is now going to cost me $3100 after I include all the fees I paid Car Shield.

I am rejecting this response because:

I was specifically told that all sunroof components were covered as part of the high-tech electronics. This was the main reason I sighed up for the platinum coverage. if the repair cannot be made I want my money back. the purpose of investing in an extended warranty is to avoid very expensive repairs. Your agent initially falsely sold me the policy on the terms of covering multiple components of this specific vehicle.

CarShield Response • Jul 02, 2020

When you purchased your service contract for your 2004 BMW you did speak with your sales representative at length about your sunroof motor. He was able to direct you to addendum 1 of your service contract terms which states, under your luxury electronics package, your sunroof and convertible top motors are covered.

The failed components of your sunroof, reported by your repair facility, were your sunroof's rubber boot and the sunroof frame. These components are not listed as covered in your service contract terms and were correctly denied by your service contract claims department.

At that same time, your repair facility also submitted a claim for a failed CV boot. This was a covered repair and was paid in the amount of $483.56.

You have cancelled your service contract as of June 30, 2020. You have made two payments of 158.99. A total of 317.89. You have had claims paid in the amount of 483.56. No refund is due to you.

My elderly parents are getting the runaround from the Car Shield company. My dad was a superior car mechanic from 1963-2018. He knows what has to happen and how things are fixed correctly. They are very proud and want to remain independent, they also live on a fixed income. Thank goodness, my brother had an extra car my parents could use while their vehicle was in the repair service. There was never any email or written communication, only verbal telephone conversations, between the three parties. The garage, Car Shield, and our father. They have already paid $900 for their coverage. With the confirmation of some repair and now no repair. This company is a scam that takes advantage of the elderly and has no empathy for their customers but takes complete advantage of its clients. Now that we know what is happening with this company and our parents, we have retained a lawyer on their behalf.

We have reviewed the notes from our claim department. The notes indicate this was deemed a pre-existing condition because their was concern of the engine ticking before the contract was purchased. Since it was not diagnosed at the time of concern, there is no way to determine if it's related to the camshaft failure.
Given the repair would never have been authorized, CarShield will refund the payments in full. This will cancel your parents contract with CarShield. Your parents will receive their refund via check in the 7-10 business days.

This company is a COMPLETE rip off. I have had my policy for almost a year and never filed a claim. After having my car serviced, diagnostic test (completed twice) determined there was transmission failure. The shop contacted the company to process the claim. I provided service records from 12 months as requested. Days, weeks, and a WHOLE month passed and NOTHING was approved. The repair facility and I were both calling multiple times a week only to be placed on hold for 2-3 hours each time. When I finally spoke with an adjuster he was very rude and unprofessional. They sent an inspector out to look at my car who did not do a thorough job. The company kept apologizing for the process taking longer than usual due to COVID19, but as a paying customer there was no compensation to me. In the end I was stuck with almost a $1000 bill from the dealership and un-repaired vehicle. DO NOT purchase coverage with this company.

We have contacted your service contract administrator to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. What a terrible experience! contract clearly says lubricated parts covered and my cars conductor plate broke down which is inside the transmission and is a lubricated part and still not covered?!!! plus which mechanic has time to wait on hold for 45 minutes?! total loss of money roadside assistance is a scam suppose to cover car rentat but have to have 8 hours labor approved each day!? SCAM!! no matter what they find a way to deny your repair and can even get a refund???!!!!! so frustrated!

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

I am a USAF veteran of the cold war and live on social security disability and a small VA disability payment each month. I saw the Car Shield ad on TV and thought that it was a good deal, so I called the number. My car is a 2003 Ford Taurus SES with over 150,000 miles. I was told that since I had over 150,000 miles on my car I wouldn’t get as good a contract as those with under 150k. I relied on the information in the ad and the assurances of the sales rep. I signed up 8/1/2019. I made my renewal payments right along but when I needed some serious work done on my car, reality set in. My trouble with the transmission started in early June 2020. I noticed something funny going on and so I took it to a transmission shop I had used for basic service in the past and they diagnosed the problem as a failing torque converter which was causing it to slip out of first gear and shudder really bad upon starting down the road from a dead stop. Remedy: Rebuild the transmission. The cost estimate was $2,175.00 plus tax. Well, I thought, this is where I can bring Car Shield in and help me out. It turned out that when I brought the contract in to them, they weren’t really interested in doing business with them and as a rule, don’t do business with companies that sell Vehicle Service Contracts. I asked them to try anyway and they did. Car Shield (aka American Auto Shield, LLC) required them to tear down the transmission, identify the parts needing to be replaced and tell them what they were so they could get the parts and ship them to the shop. Well, that didn’t sit well with the shop, that pride themselves with doing quality work with parts they know they can trust to be of high quality so they can warrant the parts and labor with complete honesty. So they decided not to do business with Car Shield. I don’t blame them. When I took the car to the Ford Dealer in town, with whom I have done business in the past and have a good and friendly relationship with, they told me that they have used this company in the past and that they don’t pay for everything like the TV commercial implies. The gist of the conversation was that Car Shield can’t be trusted to give the consumer the outcome they assume they are going to get. Besides, they would charge way more than the transmission shop because Ford parts are so expensive.
Therefore, I am filing a complaint against Car Shield for using deceptive and misleading advertising to induce me to obtain a VSC from them. Since the contract with me was obtained through such advertising, I feel they owe me all my money back from day 1 when I first started paying a monthly renewal. The total comes to $909.00. Source: Bank Statements from August 2019 through June 2020. I can then use this money to put toward the repair with the transmission shop. I will not be renewing my contract as the contract permits under Section O, paragraph 2.

We purchased a policy for our truck because we were told that our deductible was $50 and it was supposed to be written up like a new truck because the mileage was so low. We were in Orange Beach AL and that's about 3 hours from where we live and the key wouldn't come out of the ignition so we called and they said to take it to a dealership so we had to cut our trip short and bring it home because we were told that the part was going to take over 2 weeks to get here so what are we supposed to drive in the meantime? They are supposed to pay for a rental car and they haven't paid a single dollar. And they only paid a quarter of the bill for the truck. So we are very dissatisfied with them to say the least.

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Sincerely

I called car shield between the dates of June 3,2020 & June 7,2020 to confirm that I was over my 500 mile mark and to confirm if I can go ahead and get my vehicle towed to the dealership. I was given the okay that I am good to go and to have the vehicle towed because I was indeed over my 500 mile mark. After getting the vehicle towed they advised that CarShield would not cover a $1500 repair which I WAS OKAY WITH PAYING OUT OF POCKET DUE TO THE FUZE BOX NOT BEING COVERED, however a claim was submitted on June 18,2020 from the dealership. I called & requested a supervisor on June 23,2020. I did not receive a call back from a supervisor so I called back again on the 24th and the 25th Of June around 6:00pm I finally got a call back from a supervisor who reviewed the call (which was monitored & recorded) & stated that I was indeed given inaccurate information. She also advised my probation period was over on June 15,2020 and she also stated I will have to pay out of pocket even though they provided inaccurate information & offered to transfer me over to a department for parts at a discounted which is still unfair and unexceptionable.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because: The dealership has been trying to reach out to the claims department since June 29,2020. They finally were able to contact the claims department TODAY July 02,2020 & still he advised the claim was denied AGAIN for the towing date.

Sincerely

CarShield Response • Jul 07, 2020

Your service contract administrator has denied your claim as it was submitted within the waiting period of your contract terms and is not eligible for payment. If you are not happy with your service contract for any reason and wish to cancel, we would be willing to refund the one payment you have made. You may also choose to keep your service contract for future covered repairs. Please let us know how you would like to proceed.Respectfully,Customer Relations

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:The claim was submitted on the 18th for a completely different issue which was outside of my waiting period.

Sincerely

CarShield Response • Jul 15, 2020

This vehicle was towed into the repair facility within the waiting period that was addressed in during the sale and in the contract terms. The vehicle has not left the repair facility. The service contract administrator denied this claim, as it was submitted within the waiting period of the contract terms and is not eligible for payment.Only two payments have been made and we have offered to refund them in full. We have done everything we can do, in a good faith effort to resolve this complaint. If *** has any further dispute regarding the valid claim denial for failure occurring prior to the effective date of the service contract, she would need to direct that dispute to her claims administrator.

I first purchased Car Shield for 99.99 on February 25, 2020, for my 2007 Buick Rendezvous, then on March 2, 2020 I decided to pay up for till May 2, 2021 in the amount of 1139.88, that comes to a total of 1239.87, anyways when I brought my car to my mechanic, to see if it needed a tuneup, on June 9th they called me back the June 10, 2020 on my 2007 Buick Rendezvous and said it was completely rusted through, and they wouldn't even touch my car, so I brought it to the junk yard on June 11, 2020. And on June 11, 2020 I called Car Shield to cancel, they said they would credit my credit card back 904.91 of the 1239.87 which is a pro rated refund, I called Car Shield back on June 12, 2020 to confirm the pro rated amount of 904.91, they said it would be 3 to 5 business days to get back on my credit card, so I called Car Shield back the following week on June 18th to see why they had not refunded me, a rep at Car Shield said to call back on Wednesday the 24th if the funds were not back on my credit card, so I called them on June 24, 2020 they said it would take an additional 2 to 5 business days, so I called my credit card back and they are putting the 904.91 into dispute against Car Shield, If I had known what a hassle it would be to get back a pro rated refund, I would have never went on Board with Car Shield, after all they are keeping the other 334.96 without a second thought, I'm without a car now and would never go back to these scam artist, When a company like Car Shield promises to give you a pro rated refund, it should have been done in a timely matter.

Customer Response • Jun 29, 2020

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because: The 904.91 was not put back on my card, from our last conversation it was stated to me from Car Shield on June 25, 2020 that 904.91 would be credited back, so Car Shield waits till the day that I said my credit card company said they would put the 904.91 into dispute. Car Shield made a credit of 99.99 back to my card on June 26, 2020, I see that, so the check should be for 804.92, not 754.92, that does not make any sense? When a reputable company like Car Shield says I will get a refund totaling 904.91 I expect that to be put on my credit card, ever since I started with getting a pro rated refund from Car Shield it's been a nightmare, I accepted the pro rated refund that Car Shield said would be in the exact amount of 904.91, now Car Shield is trying to screw me out of more money. I did my math right, so now instead of Car Shield walking away with 334.96 they are walking away with 384.96, without me ever filing a claim, Car Shield did nothing but take money from me after I had to cancel on June 11, 2020, because my car had to be junked on June 11, 2020. I bought the Car Shield warranty back on February 25, 2020, then decided to pay 1139.88 on March 2, 2020, so that payed it up until May 2, 2021, until I receive the check in the mail, this is not resolved, this will be continued until that time which by the way CAR SHIELD said it would be 5 to 7 business days from the email that I also got on June 26, 2020, in short I have been lied to by CAR SHIELD, don't let this happen to you or anyone else, so IF CAR SHIELD is going to mail me back 754.92 they need to stick another check in the mail for 50.00 dollars which would equal 804.92 plus the 99.99 which comes out to 904.91

Sincerely

CarShield Response • Jul 01, 2020

We appreciate you responding.

We have contacted our finance department to verify the pro-rated refund amount. You were given the month to month promo of $60 off if you paid a year in advance or $5 off each month. Your monthly payment was at $99.99, so with the discount of what you paid was $94.99 x 12 months or $1139.88. You used 3 months of CarShield coverage, so 9 payments at $94.99 were refunded back to you totaling $854.91. We cannot refund a discount that was given.

We hope this clears up any misunderstanding.

Respectfully,

Customer Relations

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:Again, Car Shield you stated on the phone 3 times that my pro rated refund would be for 904.91, so this is totally unacceptable, you paid my credit card back 99.99 and sent me a check for 754.92, it should have been 804.92, my discount for paying up until May 2, 2020 was at 79.99 a month when it was spread out, you stated that I would be refunded for 10.2 months, you even put a charge on my credit card after I paid the 1139.88, you said it was a mistake and I said that I would put the entire amount into dispute, so the next day you had the 79.99 back on to my credit card, why couldn't you have just refunded my credit card back the 904.91 like you did the 79.99, it amazes me how quick you put that back on my credit card, but with a slow pro rated refund you took until the day that I stated my credit card company would put it into dispute, so again CAR SHIELD you still owe me 50.00 dollars, so my credit card company has put the 50.00 into dispute, so if you don't pay me what you owe, then my credit card company will just take the 50.00 dollars back from you, that's how they will handle the 50.00 dollar dispute, like I told you before they don't mess around, you have wasted my time, and I would not even consider having you ever again, I hope that people will learn what a dishonest company you really are, I'm really glad that I never had a claim, that would have been a worse nightmare, of the 1239.87 that I paid up, you are still walking away with 334.96, now you want to walk away with 384.96, that's not going to happen, you can't pull your hogwash with my credit card company, and they know in detail what this is all about.

Sincerely

was given a discount of $60 if he paid a year in advance. After the discount and his initial payment of 99.99, he was paying 94.99 per month. This comes to a total of 1139.88. He used 3 months of coverage. 9 months were refunded back to him at 94.99 per month at a total of $854.91.*** has been refunded, the full refund he was due. His Discover was refunded his initial payment of $99.99 on June 24, 2020. His remaining refund due of 754.92 was mailed to his 8*** address on June 26, 2020. *** has received and cashed his refund check. The check cleared our bank account as of July 2, 2020.We consider this complaint resolved. Please change the outcome to answered or resolved, as *** has accepted and cashed the check we sent him for the refund he was due.Respectfully, Customer Relations
