My car was towed to my repair shop, 4 blocks away on 4-7-20 and it was not free as advertised, no rental car was offered, as advertised. Mechanic was told CarShield rep would come out the next day, they did not show. Calls are put on hold 1-2 hrs or not answered. The repair person spent 1 to1.5 hrs trying to reach them on two separate dates. Today is 6-22-20, I still don’t have my car and it is not yet repaired. they don’t cover anything. My out-of-pocket is more than what they want to cover. And still I have no car or rental. I canceled today and I am looking for complete refund for falsely advertising about everything that pledged to be covered and was not. I am a senior citizen and feel I have been taken advantage of.

If I could leave a 0 star rating I would. I feel manipulated and I'm sick of playing the cat and mouse game with them. I brought my car in to a shop near my house almost 3 weeks ago, and it's still sitting there. I've spoken with both the shop and Carshield and the shop told me everything that's going on with my car and what I need to do moving forward, but Carshield is not doing their part. I called carshield this morning talked to 7 different people and you either keep getting disconnected or they hang up on you, they will tell you that the shop needs to find the point of failure which has been done over a week and a half ago. I really only want my car to be fixed or I want the hard earned money back that I've dished out for the last 4 months

CarShield Response • Jul 08, 2020

We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.
We have reviewed the notes from our claims department. Unfortunately, the engine block would only be covered if the cause of failure was due to an internally lubricated part failure. Your contract doesn't cover failure due to over heating.
As a gesture of goodwill, CarShield will refund your payments in full. You can expect one payment back to the VISA ending 3002 and the remainder will be sent via check withing 7-10 business days. This will cancel your contract.
We are sorry to lose you as a CarShield customer.

This company is a total scam. Their warranties are not worth the paper they are printed on. When you call Car Shield and speak to a sales rep., they tell you whatever it takes for you to purchase a contract, then when you actually make a payment and they send you the warranty contact as described as "Gold Coverage" which is only a Power Train warranty that does not cover any electrical, no cables, nothing with the breaking system, no lights or harnesses, only internal non-electrical transmission parts, anything external they won't cover. Guess what...... if your actual transmission fails and you need a new transmission Car Shield does not cover that either. Because their bottom line is far more important than fixing your vehicle. Basically they only cover what is low cost to fix and what us unlikely to break on your vehicle. They have no problem charging you over $100 a month for what they call Gold Coverage which is more like Copper Coverage because when something actually breaks on your vehicle and you take it to your mechanic or dealer, it is like pulling teeth for a mechanic or dealer to get in touch with a Car Shield rep. for an authorization, and there is a 1% chance that they will cover what is actually wrong with the car. Car Shield pay a lot of money for their television commercials and the celebrities they pay to endorse their service so they have to pass that expense onto the consumer while making sure that they get away with actually paying little or in most cases NOTHING towards the repair of any customer's vehicle. If you really think about it and if they were genuinely honest and straight forward with their warranties and they had to pay 50 % of the claims that were presented to them they would go out of business, so they are really worse than the auto insurance companies because even the auto insurance companies will pay on more of their customer's claims than Car Shield. The best extended warranty is through the car dealership because you get to review the contract first before you buy and see what is actually covered, also the dealer's extended warranty companies have different levels of coverage so you won't be throwing your money away like with Car Shield. I had my car at the dealers for two totally different issues and car shield denied both of them, they also don't like when you call them to cancel your contract. Their customer reps., are trained to keep you on the phone and feed you more lies as to why you need to keep paying for their warranty. They also try to charge you a $75 cancellation fee if you cancel and they have to pro-rate you. This company is ridiculously unscrupulous and only care about how money money they can scam out of customers. Even the service dealers don't like working with, because they never respond to requests for authorization and when they can get a hold of an adjuster they deny the claims. This company also has an F on the Revdex.com so that tells you that most of their customers are dissatisfied with their service. I had to call all my family, friends, and coworkers and tell them not to use Car Shield because their warranties are basically worthless and they have no problem charging you premium fees for a zero warranty. Remember Car Shield does not care about you or fixing your vehicle, they just want your money for as long as they can scam you.

It is all a scam they sell A warranty and after they get their money and you asked to use the warranty then on hold up their end of the bargain. To tell you the parts and stuff are covered and it’s also stated that in the contract they’re not covered I just want to take your money.

I would not walk away from this company I would run! This is my second bad review in my lifetime. In my initial sign up I was on the phone with the sales rep at length, asking them thoroughly on what was covered and not covered. They clearly stated the drive train is covered. When my transmission went out they first claimed it was a maintenance issue so I sent them all of the maintenance records which were undisputable. Then they said I didn't have a commercial policy, even though I make the payment with a company credit card. After a few lengthy arguments with them and requesting the audio conversation (which they said they can not do) they agreed to run the claim again, at an additional charge of course. This time they said the issue was either from a factory defect, which they do NOT cover, or must be a bad solenoid from inside the transmission which is also NOT covered because it is an electrical part. Really!!, almost every problem can be traced back to an electrical part! If it wasn’t that, it would be 100 other things, that are NOT covered! They told me this is in my paperwork, which they never sent. Here is their scam; you sign up and pay with Car Shield, when you have a claim it goes through *** (a completely separately company, according to them), this way when there is a problem, they can point the finger at each other. American Auto shield told me Car Shield was suppose to send me the paperwork and that was not their problem. I had 2 policies and they did not sent paperwork on either. Neither sales rep. asked me if the vehicles were for commercial use. Also, this entire process took about 4 weeks and every time I called I was on hold for 20-45 minutes. This company is such a joke that even if they did pay the claim, the process it not worth the hassle. Chris Berman, Dan Patrick, Steve Harvey, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity and Michael Savage; you should all be ashamed of yourselves for backing this completely fraudulent company.

I have a very strong feeling that CarShield is a scam. The so called actual customers on their commercial I believe are paid actors. On the contract, it states "Peace of Mind", whose peace of mind, mine or theirs? They have a peace of mind that you'll continue paying their monthly premium. I currently to my BMW to have some needed repairs done to it, the cost was $3000 and at first, CarShied denied the claim stating it wasn't covered in the contract. Then, when I started talking about cancelling my contract, they said they would like to work with me to bring the cost of repairs down. There so called working with me was nothing but part sourcing, in other words, buying parts from your neighborhood car parts store, aftermarket parts, not OEM. That would have probably saved me $50, not good enough. I had been with CarShield for almost two years now, have never had to use them until now. Wish I would have had to use them early on so that I wouldn't have been SCAMMED so long and paid their premium. This company, their commercials and their "Peace of Mind" slogan is nothing but a JOKE!!!!!

On January 29, 2020, I purchased the gold plan to cover motor and transmission and other problems for cars. I paid for one year the cost was $59.99 a month, total cost for the year was $719.88 which I had them take it out of my checking account. In mid April, my car was totaled out by a deer. I called CarShield and cancelled the policy. They cancelled then they told me my refund was $539.91. They would put it back in my account in three to five business days. I waited about 12 days, May1. They then told me again on Monday, May 4th that they would process it in three to six days and it would be put back into my account. I called again about May 15th. This person said we don't put money back in your bank, we send checks and your refund was $479.90.

I have a contract with Carshield. I took my car to a dealer for the transmission. They are not covering it. They wanted the mechanic to take it out, take it apart to see if they would cover it and that would cost another $600. They denied the repair. I am an owner of an MDX vechicle I have an extended warranty on my car. My truck was bucking so I took it a mechanic. He took a diagnostic test and he checked it over The transmission 3 and 4 gears was slipping So my mechanic called car shield they sent an inspector . The inspector told my mechanic everything looks fine except the transmission fluid looks burnt My mechanic said yes that was his conclusion also. The company later called my mechanic and told him the transmission oil was low and therefore they are not responsible. I called car shield and said that can’t be true To send another inspector down and let him inspect the car. They refused He said he has pictures of the transmission stick showing that it was low I called the mechanics and he took pictures of the dip stick It was not low So the company is lying to me so they don’t have to cover the damages My truck only has 58000 miles and 6 years old

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:
I asked my mechanic to take pictures of the transmission fluid after I spoke to Mario from car shield. The mechanic said the oil is not low it’s where it should be. I asked Mario to send me his pictures that his inspector “supposedly” took he said “ no” I’m sending the pictures that clearly show that I indeed had fluids it was burnt. I didn’t add more because it would be a different color. Also they did pay for the time belt but I had to call them many times for that to happen. Then the mechanic had my car for a week they were suppose to pay for the rent a car the time the car was in the shop they refused to pay me I contacted the Revdex.com back then too. They wanted to pay us for 1 day. I never responded back. Please advise on next step.

To Whom This May Concern,

My name is ***, and as of April 6, 2020 I've been a "customer" or "Contract Holder" with CarShield. As expressed on the phone recording on April 6, 2020, I had close to 200K miles on the 20-year-old car and would be using the car to ***. As proven with documentation provided by ***, I did a lot of driving which ultimately was my method of work to earn an income. I have been told by CarShield employees who have been handling the claim that the damages on my car could not have happened in, and I quote "2 days". I accused a specific employee of being unprofessional due to his tone and lack of consideration for my circumstances. I then articulated to the man my contract states "Plan Information" .... "20 Days AND 500 Miles, OR 40 Days AND 250 Miles from the Original Contract Effective Date" and it could be proven within CarShield's system where I gave my mileage when my car had to get towed. I understand there's a pandemic and your employees have some adjusting to do, however reading is fundamental and it would be less overwhelming for me as a customer if an employee is very professional, patient, and open-minded. I spoke to an employee/ADMINISTRATOR on June 4, 2020 named *** and he denied my claim for a Transmission repair. Today is June 17, 2020 and I am initiating this "Dispute Resolution" as advised in section "M" of my contract.

"Arbitrary is defined as something that is determined by judgment or whim and not for any specific reason or rule. An example of an arbitrary decision would be a decision to go to the beach, just because you feel like it." - Google "Arbitrary example". Considering section M and the definition of Arbitrary, this here statement is an opportunity for me to sum up my claim and provide as much documentation as possible so an employee of CarShield or Arbitrator from Revdex.com can approve my claim for repairs. As stated in phone records in the first week of May 2020, I believed my car was experiencing Catalytic Converter issues which I was willing to take full responsibility for as long as I was able to receive towing and some kind of reimbursement for a rental had my car needed to be in the repair facility for x amount of hours as stated in the contract. Coming to find out my transmission was the issue, to then receive insinuations that I was making a malicious claim has been extremely overwhelming, upsetting and depressing for a hardworking essential worker like myself. Being able to still maintain other jobs during this pandemic both in-person and remotely with the ***, I have very little patience and consideration for the CarShield employees who fail to fully read a report before articulating opinions. The fact of this matter continues through a report from the Transmissions mechanic where it states " ***Transmission Failure Stems from Torque Converter Failure*** " and the Torque Converter is a mechanical part that has not been neglected, but for some reason outside of my profession, as I assume it's out of ***'s, I was told by *** on June 4, 2020, that "pistons and valves" are the reasons why my claim is being denied. At first, I was told to abide by Section D line T which states "The following items are NOT COVERED by this contract: (t) that occurs as to gradual loss of performance and has resulted from normal operation and use (due to vehicle mileage and/or age) such as, but not limited to: Valve guides, valves, piston rings, transmission clutch pack disc and bands, unless worn beyond manufacturer tolerances" and it's evident *** did not heavily consider "unless worn beyond manufacturers tolerances" or maybe even mechanic or adjuster notes where it states the car can not drive forward which means something was worn beyond manufacturers tolerance. Considering my humane tolerance as well as the tolerance of the businessmen who facilitate CarShield, nobody likes deceptions. I’ve been very transparent since day one with this company and it hurts me mentally and financially when I think about the time without my car and money spent on a rental car to maintain a prosperous life through such troubling times.
To the mediator of this claim, I beg you to make it a requirement for me to give any documentation to prove the narrative behind my experience as a CarShield customer. So far this has not been good business, but I will admit business has been handled fairly to the extent where I have an opportunity to advocate for myself. This would have been done sooner however I am currently working 3 jobs, just had a birthday, I helped my older sister move across the country last week and right now at 9:28pm on June 17, 2020 I am lost for words within my advocacy and will continue this statement without any edits, and timestamps to show just how overwhelming this can be, and how serious I’m taking this situation considering some CarShield customers may have been on the deceitful side of the business deal. Ironically, I feel as if I made a smart purchase of this contract and now need the company to hold up their end of the deal being that my claim, narrative, and experience abides by my contract.

The fact of this matter continues through a report from the Transmissions mechanic where it states " ***Transmission Failure Stems from Torque Converter Failure*** " and the Torque Converter is a mechanical part that has not been neglected, but for some reason outside of my profession, as I assume it's out of ***, I was told by *** on June 4, 2020, that "pistons and valves" are the reasons why my claim is being denied.

CarShield is here to address your concerns and appreciates the opportunity to respond.

We have contacted your service contract administrator on your behalf to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. They reviewed the claim and inspections on the transmission. The failure occurring inside of 2 days of active coverage is very questionable and the transmission was shows to have been driven to the point of destruction. The clutch plates were destroyed and welded together and showed extensive continued operation beyond the initial malfunction. There are multiple electrical codes associated with the failure of the transmission of this vehicle. They are as follows:P0500 Transmission Speed Sensor FaultP0710 Transmission Fluid Temperature SensorP0715 OD Direct Clutch Input Speed SensorP0750 Shift Solenoid #1 faultP0770 Torque Converter Clutch SolenoidElectrical failures in the transmission are not covered under your contract terms. There are codes identified for multiple speed sensors, a temperature sensor and 2 different solenoids.

It is clear this failure began during the waiting period or before due to the extent of damage shown. This repair is not eligible for coverage under your contract terms. You may choose to keep your coverage for future covered repairs, or we would be willing to offer you a full refund of the money you have paid into your service contract if you choose to cancel you coverage. If you have any further dispute regarding the claim denial by your service contract administrator and obligated party under the contract terms, American Auto Shield, you would need to contact them directly at 800-531-1925 or at the address listed in your service contract of ***. They would be able to specifically answer to any additional questions or concerns you may have.

Complaint: ***
I did not want anymore days to go by before responding, and at the same time I feel the need to check in with my mechanic (who claimed SOME integrity issues on your inspectors behalf) and discuss me personally paying for the repairs myself, hopefully he can take installments, I'm going to see him after sending this. I correlate those installments to a total figure the CarShield/AmericanAutoShield will obtain from me and people I've recommended the business to. I understand electrical components are not covered within my contract however, what if I paid for the electrical repairs (parts AND labor) and "warrantied" them myself in a situation where those components go again, I will not even put in a claim for repairs? Is the business willing to share the repair bill and pay for only what is covered within my contract. I'm willing to invest in which ever parts are approved by American Auto Shield, NOT MY MECHANIC. Simply I'm looking to see if this business is willing to help a vulnerable customer who has an open holistic mind. Realistically I was initiated paying for services only because I needed my own sense of security as I "flew the coop". I'm sending over a screenshot from my *** account that shows my top two finances that I feel is irrelevant to this claim considering a "timely manner" where the money I spent on a rental with *** at this point is literally more than half of what my own car repairs cost. The timely expectations of my car being diagnosed were not met and because I personally have been working multiple jobs through this pandemic, the work ethic of your employees has not made this process any easier. I am also sending over a few *** screenshots and my mechanics bill where I am unable to identify electrical components I am in no way interested in cancelling my contract, in fact I intend to purchase a SUV/Truck (manufactured 2015 or later) and purchase another contract for that vehicle within the next year or two, now in all reality I may junk my Lexus that is no longer mobile and transfer the contract then. The car has sentimental value to my family and I, which is the root of my attachment. I'll figure things out. Nonetheless I will always attest to the fact that Car Shield/American Auto Shield are/is two/a business(es) that will confront and insinuate any intuitive senses of integrity issues professionally through arbitration. Thank you for offering such an accommodating service.

Respectfully and Holistically,

***

ps, I have 2 more *** screenshots to bring you clarity considering your statement "It is clear this failure began during the waiting period or before due to the extent of damage shown." Considering my rapport with Staten Island's Councilman ***, I'm sure there are cameras and an investigation that can be done. This is integrity we're talking about, a public reputation of my own considering my car, my character. Me promoting a business to then explain how they couldn't service me due to integrity issues, I wonder if this can this be considered defamation of character. Considering your other statement "The failure occuring inside of 2 days of active coverage is very questionable".... please understand deliveries had to be made with *** and business places have cameras to show the car that was being used for work. Aaron Hernandez was allegedly followed through street surveillance cameras, this is not a murder case however there seems to be a case of conspiracies within my claim and it is not right. Please work with me.

To Whom This May Concern, My name is ***, and I am emailing you today to advise and document within Revdex.com that the company Car Shield is failing to follow up with their obligations. After admitting to guilt and offering me 1/3 of the actual cost of my repairs when their estimate is actually more than the actual cost of my repairs. I was given *** aka Director of Claims" direct number and left numerous voice messages throughout the last 3 weeks. I have yet to receive a callback. This has been overwhelming and there has been no progress proceeding Car Shields response within the Revdex.com Claim Portal on Thursday, June 25, 2020. I'm still paying their monthly fee as well as a rental car which a portion of that cost is covered within my contract. Car Shield has been showing examples of insubordinate. Attached is my most recent voicemail left on Saturday, July 11, 2020, @11: 07 am ET for Mr. Cositt, the self-claimed "Director of Claims", who also advised me he's located in Denver to consider the time-zone difference. I hope something within the claim portal can be done, just in case CarShield continues to practice insubordination. Sincerely, ***ps. My purchase price of the CarShield services/contract was USD 89 and the disputed/car repair amount is about USD 3,400. I was unsure how to enter that information when I first started the claim on June 17, 2020.

Please be advised my vehicle was taken back into the shop for a diagnostic on the check engine light. I understand ALL required repairs are not eligible for an authorized claim, and I intend to utilize my contract accordingly. My car was dropped off yesterday August 17, 2020 and I have yet to hear what needs to be done. I called the shop while conducting this email at 12:02 pm to realize they have yet to diagnose my car's check engine light. Attached are the receipts ***, Claims Director, and I agreed to be sent in for additional reimbursement, he did not in no way tell me a full reimbursement would be administered. However, the Claims Director proposed an apology which I now believe to be bt and an additional reimbursement on August 4, 2020. I was told I'd receive an email from a third party organization that deals with electronic reimbursements, and I have yet to receive the email. I believe since I have yet to have a phone or email response considering my numerous attempts to communicate with *** (voicemails have been left), "insubordination" is an irrelevant and accurate accusation. As long as the rest of this process is carried out according to transparent facts (I've been told there's been system failure and today CSR Amanda told me my claim was "wiped out" in some sense) and within a timely manner, I promise to continue resolving the issue through arbitration with Revdex.com as stated in my contract.PS. The rental was returned on August 10, 2020 therefore that payment marked at "$508" was actually $308 and my $200 deposit was returned.

Carshield talks a good game on TV but they don't come through when you need coverage. I broke down on a Sunday between Florida and Ohio could not get anybody on the phone to get approval. It cost me $417 to have a starter replaced on the road plus roadside service. Carshield only paid $95. In my opinion that's terrible service.!!! Especially when no one can answer the phone people do breakdown on a Sunday. I would never recommend carshield to anyone.

I sent in my paperwork showing I kept up the maintain on the car never had a big problem with my car since I got it a year ago .Carshield said they was going to send a inspector out to look at my car . But for them to know what the real problem they had to take the engine out . The inspector finally came out in June I still don’t have a car to drive . Carshield started looking for me a new engine . Than they say they not paying for my car to get fix because it was a per condition . How? When nothing ever happen to my car before I sent the car fax and all my paperwork. The repair shop told them I need a new engine but instead they didn’t want to get me a new engine. I still have to pay over 3500 for repairs with the 1500 credit they have me

I spent $3,393 on the Diamond policy with Car Shield. Of course I saw those great commercials on TV and said I could use this protection for when and if ever a big bill came about. Well my time has came for transmission issue which is coverable under the policy. When I called it was not easy to get a claims agent and when I did very abrupt with demands. They hired this person to do his job and make sure that wherever possible do not pay. I tell you he is doing great at what they pay him to do or should I say what I paid over 3k for him to do? I bought the policy at 64,000 plus miles. I was told that I needed specific work done on the car at 30,000; 60; 90; and 120,000 miles with records. Of course I didn't even have the policy for the first two. I have been going to the car dealership for all services and it was determined by them that it was not needed for most of those times and was not at all an issue with the transmission issue even currently and that they would vouch or send paperwork to reflect this. Carshield says nope. Nice little loophole on their end to get out of paying for service when you need it. I'm not sure how this works but I would of course like a refund for the $3,393 that I spent for absolutely nothing. I cannot stress enough DO NOT BUY THIS POLICY.

We have contacted your service contract repair claim administrator on your behalf to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced.

Your claims administrator cannot move forward with this repair claim without verification that your vehicle has been serviced as the manufacturer has recommended.
However, CarShield would like to resolve this matter for you and will agree as a gesture of goodwill to refund the prorated refund you are due minus the roadside assistance you used in July of 2017 of $55.00.
You should be receiving your refund check in approximately 12-15 business days. It will be mailed to the *** address you provided to us when you purchased your service contract.

DO NOT BUY!! I have now tried to make 2 claims within the past 1.5 months. Each time they jump through every loop hole and they don’t tell you that some connected parts to things are not covered! I’ve have nothing but issues with this warranty from the start. I’m now out a total of $4200 and two very pissed mechanics having to deal with this company. Both mechanics said they were nothing but problems and were trying to jump through every loop hole possible not to cover the repairs and rental agreement. I will be terminating my contract and asking for my money back! Complete waste of time. Not to mention being off work and just adding even more stress!

My vehicle has been in the shop for 3 weeks. This company stated they have to order the parts directly, yet they continue to say the part will be there on certain dates and once that date comes, they change the date to another date that does not happen either. I had a Car Shield policy for my 2015 Honda CRV. The a/c stopped working on 6/10/20. I took it to Village Auto in Bellmore who advised me the a/c compressor was broken. They called Car Shield who then sent an adjuster to see the problem. The adjuster came on 6/12/20 and advised my mechanic that the shaft of the air conditioner was binding and that the compressor and the clutch would need to be replaced. I call on Saturday, 6/13/20 and Car Shield advised me that they would be in touch with my mechanic to get this car back on the road. My mechanic called and hung on the phone for over an hour and found out they denied my claim. I called them later last night and they advised my that it was only the clutch which isn't covered and that the compressor was fine. In order for me to get my car out I spent over $1100 and they are not covering the compressor.

I am rejecting this response because: the clutch burnt out AFTER after the compressor shaft seized and was binding. It was the compressor shaft that caused the compressor clutch to stop working.

Please check with the adjuster who advised my mechanic that the compressor shaft was BINDING!!!!
