This letter is intended to refute the decision made concerning the warranty claim for damages on the 2005 Chrysler Pacifica.
I call and specifically spoke to representatives of Carshield warranty company regarding the cars placement and the ability to driving it to the dealership and the warranty company representatives didn’t advise against it.
Subsequent to that on 03/26/2020, the Chrysler was brought to Dodge Country at 3602 E Central Texas Expy in Killeen Texas and a claim was filed.
Ok Moving on, once the dealership’s analysis on repairs and damages to both heads didn’t sooth the appetite of the warranty company the cat and mouse games begun.
I call the dealership they tell me what’s going on, I call the warranty company and they don’t really have any answers besides pointing fingers at the dealership. At one point I called to cancel my warranty because I felt manipulated and the warranty representative advised against it. She showed remorse for the situation while being in the mist of the COVID-19 pandemic. I was given a discount on my next bill for a few buck but more importantly in my heart I felt she cared.
I called the warranty maybe a day or so afterwards, considering moving to a different maintenance shop and they were all for it. They mentioned things like free towing, dealerships are expensive, and to consult with the shops approval of a 3rd party warranty company and the ability to ship parts etc.
The only reason I brought the car to the dealership is because I figured no one should be better more equipped to fix a car than it’s maker. As I’m collecting information I got to the dealership intending to move the vehicle and learned that Dodge is refusing to except used part shipped by the warranty company and that was the big part of a stall.
Dodge suggested that I call the warranty company to get clarity. So I’m at the dealership on the phone being transferred to the claim associate. Waiting to speak to an associate who’s after about 45 minutes I hung up.
At that point, I was very clear with the warranty company on deciding to leave my vehicle at Dodge Country. Knowing I’d still have to pay Dodge a few hundreds for minimal labor, moving the car to a different shop and having to start the hold process over and perhaps pay a different shop too was too much. If I have to do all of that then what do I need a warranty company for!
In the mist of all of this, an adjuster was sent on behalf of the warranty company to review and inspect the damages with my approval to tear down the car with no problem . What was totally unexpected was that a week or more pass and they then paid an adjuster to come out a second time getting my approval for what was “considered” to be a complete tear down this time.
I found out about my claim denial from the dealership. I immediately called the warranty company. Going through so many emotions, being stuck in the middle of a pandemic, working two jobs, finding transportation while owing over $4,600 to Dodge Country and a representative told me would you like to cancel your policy.
I was told by representatives of Carshield that I have a policy coverage of $3,300 a month which can’t be exceeded.
I was told that they would fix my motor mounts, change spark plugs etc.
During pivotal information you start to hear static or the mute button is being pressed so that you struggle hearing complete sentences.
Dodge cut a deal with me bringing my total from $4,600 to 4,200. I had to take out a loan which was assisted by the dealership.
We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and look forward to working with you towards a resolution. We have contacted your contract service administrator to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. Your vehicle had a warped cylinder head due to a failed head gasket. This is not listed as a covered failure under your vehicle contract terms and therefore is ineligile for payment. Your service contract administrator was able to offer you our parts sourcing program to offset the out of pocket costs for your vehicle repair. However, the repair facility you chose would not allow these parts to be shipped in.If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to call our customer service department *** or you may contact claims directly ***.Respectfully,Customer Relations

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is a unjust/ dishonest. The repair shop couldn’t tell what problem came first between the radiator, head gasket blowing and the misfiring of the cylinder so how could you. Not to mention an inspector was sent out twice and I wasn’t the only one to find that strange.Cover up along with the other misleading things I was told.

I purchased Carshield almost a year ago 2019. My check engine came up with I decide to get my car look at. Before I signed up for Carshield the salesperson was so good that he persuaded me to get best coverage value for my car which I quote ( we will cover everything mechanic on my car ) except the maintenance which are oil change , brakes , etc.... Here to find out that my claims was denied. Carshield 's pushing salesman convince me to take my car to the dealership for service. When I got the contract they don't tell you once it come to mechanical issue a lot of parts are not cover such as hose , sensor ,clutch and every thing connect to your car .. so if those are not mechanical what is . Carshield informed those was not part of my contract which the salesperson told me something else . I guess they want me to be a member so bad I feel like I got hustle. Now only they denied my claim , Carshield suggested that I get in touch with American auto shield (3rd party) who denied my claim and also suggested that I do a product sourcing which mean I have to pay for everything parts I need while they are negotiating with the dealer on labor service and paying for the part to be ship. So why am I paying for the membership again . Now only that they won't pay for the rental as well .. this is so frustrated . Now I am out of money , took my car at the dealership, got a rental and every things now fall on me . FYI CARSHIELD ONLY SALE CONTRACT AND PASSED THE CLAIMS TO A 3RD PARTY TO BE DENIED .. I AM SO PISSED OFF . THEY SHOULD LABEL EVERYTHING THAT IS COVER OR NOT COVER WHEN IT COMES FOR PEOPLE TO BUY THE DAMN CONTRACT. I FILL RIP OFF AND I NEED MY CONTRACT TERMINATED. I ENDED PAYING TO THE MECHANIC $ 1300 OUT OF POCKET TO FIX MY CAR.ESSENTIAL WORKER NEVER GET A BRAKE .

I wish I would of read all these bad reviews. I learned the hard way. They only cover 100% when it suits there needs. There adjuster even said about my claim that there was a grey area around why they wouldn’t pay not even a dime. Oh and guess what he neglected to tell me that they could of negotiated with the dealership in my behalf. I heard that from another representative. They are sneaky, unprofessional and greedy.. the only reason to use them is you want to flush your money down the drain.
We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.
We have contacted your service contract administrator. Their notes claim there were internal electrical problems due to water damage to your vehicle. The Diamond Elite vehicle service contract does not cover water damage, see section D, Damages, of your vehicle service contract terms.

I purchased a contract with CARSHIELD and tried to use it. The customer service rep told me that my engine repair would not be covered due to my claim being filed a week before the grace period ended. I asked for a refund for the policy I purchased due to the extensive and mind numbing measures that I had to go through to attempt to get authorization for my car. This was very unprofessional and a waste of time. This company is horrible and will find any reason not to pay for repairs. They wanted useless documentation and even gave the repair facility a hard time. It was very hard to get in contact with the representatives and everytime I called it would be a different excuse or reason my car isn’t getting worked on. I also was left with a $125 bill from the repair facility!

We have contacted your service contract administrator to obtain notes on the repair claim you have referenced. The mechanical failure occurred within the 20 day /500 mile waiting period and is not eligible for coverage. I purchased auto repair service warranty through CarShield/American warranty I believe early April 2020. After a "green" conversation with a sales representative I decided to join/purchase. Unfortunately had truck issues shortly there after the purchase. I was within coverage according to the auto shop. After several unsuccessful conversations with the representativeS the conclusion was they can't help. Note they were willing to cover parts that were in perfect condition unrelated. Finally the shop told me to give up and drop the warranty company, they were "worthless and unprofessional. After our experiences I decided to take that advice. No the warranty company refuses to cover ANY damages or test requested.
CarShield is here to address your concerns and we appreciate the opportunity to help you in the resolution of this matter. We have contacted your service contract service administrator to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. Per their notes, your claim was denied initially because it happened within the 20 days, 500 miles waiting period. American Auto Shield then received a call from your repair facility stating they initially provided the incorrect mileage when they submitted your repair claim. American Auto Shield requested a photo of the odometer to determine if the failure would then be covered. On 6/10/20 American Auto Shield called your repair facility back and they just wanted us to send an inspector. When the claim was presented to an Adjuster, the claim was denied because the failed component was a head gasket. This is not a covered component under your vehicle contract terms.
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to respond and clarify this matter. Don't hesitate to give us a call if we can be of any more assistance.

On February 2, 2019 I took my Dodge Ram pickup to the repair shop at the local dealership to find out why our check engine light came on. The problem was found to be an EGR valve. I contacted Carshield at this time to find out the process on using the service for which we had been paying them for several months. A sweet woman named Wanda told me to simply take the truck to the repair shop and they would contanct the claims service at Carsheild/American Auto Shield to get the work done and pay the claim and she assured me that the EGR valve was a covered issue and it would be a simple, painless process. There was nothing simple or painless about dealing with Carshield or American Auto Shield! On Feb 7 we took the truck to the repair shop and told them we had Carshield. After 2 hours of waiting, they informed us that they had been on hold with the warrenty company for 1.5 hours with no answer, but said they would call again right away in the morning. We rented a car and went home. The next day, the repair shop called and said they still were unable to get through after holding for an hour, but would keep trying. Later that afternoon, we received a call from American Auto Shield (AAS) and was told that they wanted to use a cheaper valve than what the dealership had in stock. My husband was annoyed at this, but told him to do whatever they need to do to get our truck fixed. Then he said that they would only pay 4 of the 6 hours required to replace the valve. My husband did get upset and used some inappropriate language, but then repeated that they can do whatever they need to do, just fix our truck because we need it. AAS said they would have the new valve sent overnight so the repair could get done. On Feb 11, I contacted the repair shop to see how long it would take and they said that they never received the valve. I called Carshield and was redirected to AAS. After almost 2 hours on hold I finally spoke to a nice woman named Anita. She said that it appeared they forgot to order the part and so she would get it ordered for us immediately. Again, she said it would be overnighted to the repair shop. I told her about my frustrations of having to spend over an hour on hold ever time we called, and she apologized and said there was an issue with a new phone system. I also told her that we have had a rental since Feb 7th when the vehicle was first taken in and she told me that they would reimburse us for the rental. She gave me the authorization number and fax number and said that once the repair is done to fax the rental bill to them and promised they would pay it. I called the repair shop each day to see if the part was there. I also tried to call AAS and Carshield each day to find out where the part was and each time spent over an hour on hold. Their phone service, after a while on hold, gives you the option to leave a call back number and an agent will call you when your turn in line comes up. I left my number on that machine several times, as did the repair shop, and we never received a call back. Finally on Feb 15th, the repair shop said they received the part, but it was defective. They, yet again, spen over an hour on hold trying to find out if they can reorder it or ask how they wanted to proceed. With no response from Carshield or ***, they finally contacted the manufacturer of the defective part sent by AAS and had another one overnighted. At last, on Monday, Feb 18th the part came, the repair was done and we were told we could get our truck. We returned the rental car and went to the repair shop only to find that they were still not able to get ahold of anyone for reimbursement so we would have to pay completely out of pocket to get our truck. We paid out of pocket and went home. I called twice a week for the next month and the repair shop still had not heard from or received a penny from Carshield/AAS. I faxed the rental bill to the number Anita had given me. On Feb 26th a rude girl named Mandy called me to say that they were only going to pay for 1 day of the rental at $40. The rental was actually $45 a day. Her reasoning was that since we could not get ahold of them the first day, that was on us, and she said since my husband cursed at the guy the next day, that it was our fault that they did not order the part and since they ordered the part the following Monday and had it overnighted, it should have been fixed that day, so we should have only need the rental one day. My husband may have cursed, but he still did tell them do do what they needed to do to get the repair done and the man said he would order the part. When I told her about the hours spent on hold to talk to someone and the numerous times we left a call back number only to never receive a call back, she said that the call back part of the machine never actually worked so that is why we were never contacted! Ultimately, here we are now over a year later and they STILL have never sent us a penny, and the repair shop has also NEVER heard a thing from them! To make matters worse, Carshield contacted us in April of 2019 and said our auto payment did not go through. I told them very plainly that since they did not fulfil their part of the contract, they never paid the claim, so I was not going to pay them any more money. The called again a week later and I again told them that they never honored their obligation, so I am not going to pay them any more money. I was done with them and debating on if we should take them to court. I was busy with my newborn and life went on. Then on November 12, 2019, Jen at Carshield called us to say that our auto payment did not go through! When I informed her that we told them months ago that we were not going to pay them anymore, she told me that they had still been taking payments from our account. I asked to speak to a manager. Jen told me the manager was unavailable but reassured me that the manager would review our account and the recorded phone call, and call me the next day. The next day Jen called me (not the manager that I had asked for) and said all they can do is cancel at that time and said the manager told her that they are not going to reimburse us for the money that they had fraudulently stolen from our account over the past several months. They owe us $2228.18. The repair for the EGR valve cost $997.50, the car rental was $537.68 and the unauthorized payments stolen from our account, after I had previously told them in clear terms that we were NOT going to pay them any more money, is $693. We had paid this corrupt company hundreds of dollars to provide a service when we needed them to - after all - that is what they advertise! Instead we received nothing but huge bills that we had to pay out of pocket and countless hours on hold, ending in nothing but more frustration. This was a nightmare and I would strongly encourage others looking for a car warranty service to look elsewhere!

After 10 months of making payments to CarShield I brought my vehicle in to be serviced. I provided my mechanic CarShields phone number and my policy number. When my mechanic called CarShield to discuss the issues they told my mechanic that my policy did not exist. I had 2 vehicles on an active and current policy at the time. When I called CarShield to ask why they told my mechanic they responded with an apology and offered a reduced premium. Still with no valid reason for telling my mechanic my policy didn’t exist. Why would I continue to pay for a service they had no intentions to provide.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention and for the opportunity to respond. We have reviewed the notes in your file and want to apologize on behalf of CarShield that your repair facility was told you didn't have a contract with us. It seems the representative saw the lapse in payments on your account. I am rejecting this response because: I have had this policy for over 10 months, set up on auto debit from my bank. My mechanic called this company 3 days before the scheduled payment date and was told that I did not have a policy with them, then later said they weren't sure I was going to make a payment. This is all designed to manipulate the system to not pay for said covered repairs. They debited out of my account for this policy and another policy just fine until I had a claim. Then they offered to refund 3 payments of my newest policy with them instead of the one I actually was trying to file a claim on. I did receive a refund from this company for 1 payment not 3 as they had stated. I deserve a full refund on both policies.
Sincerely
I have attached the screenshots showing my CarShield policy was in “current/active” status when my mechanic tried to contact them on June 4th. I was paying premiums for 2 vehicles: 1. Contract #*** (***) $79.00 per month. Start of policy 7/30/19 2. Contract #*** (***) $122.00 per month. Start of policy 3/19/20Screenshots below shows:1. CarShield app showing both policies were current on June 4th when my mechanic contacted CarShield. It also shows that the next auto payment was scheduled for June 6th. 2. Bank account app showing payments were “posted” on May 7th for both vehicles. Therefore payments were made and on time. 3. CarShield’s response to the complaint was that they would refund 3 monthly payments that were made for the 2010 Jaguar (3 x $122 = $366). I included a screenshot of the email I received showing they only refunded one month payment for $122. Hope this helps. Feel free to call me with any questions. Thanks

I am rejecting this response because: My mechanic simply called this company to discuss a needed repair and was told I do not have a policy on it, as if they cancelled the policy after the claim I filed in September. If they cancelled my policy after my claim in September then I deserve a refund of all payments made to them from October to May. I also feel I should not have to wait for any refund, If one payment can be electronically refunded then they should just refund all my money at once.

The service contract you purchased on March 19, 2020 for your 2010 Jaguar is being refunded in full the 3 payments that were made. The initial payment has already been refunded back to your credit card and the remaining 2 payments will be mailed to you very shortly.
The service contract you purchased on July 30, 2019 was not cancelled in September of 2019. You requested cancellation of this contract on June 8, 2020. You had a repair claim submitted in September of 2019 that was approved and paid in the amount of 2566.44. No refund is due on this contract because the claim that was paid would be deducted from any refund due. You paid in approximately $800.00, with the repair claim being paid for you in the amount of 2566.44.
You are being refunded in full on your most recent service contract purchase, however.
I recently obtained a policy with this company and I’m glad that y car had an issue before I put too much money into this company.
My car had an issue on Tuesday morning. I have called everyday since Tuesday and been given the run around each time. On Tuesday I sat with the mechanic for 2 hours as the company picked up the phone and disconnected the call after a 45 minute wait each time. On Wednesday, they claimed to not have spoken with the repair facility when I was there for the call when it occurred. The same day, I got a call asking for proof of oil changes which I sent promptly the next day and on Friday after calling to confirm if they called the facility (they did not, OF COURSE) and having them speak about the issue they wanted to say that it would be another week before I could get an approval on the claim.
They do not have any empathy, they do not care, they are trying their best to not pay for this claim and it’s obvious. I am a college student and on clinicals. I need my car to get there and they refuse to pay for a rental even though they have been playing around and not processing the claim in a reasonable amount of time.

I am rejecting this response because:
The company provided me with a number that does not send me to my claims adjuster as they said in the previous response. Today I got a call and the they said they needed another engine break down after they have completed the first one. They also said they called the repair facility and they have not. They have offered no customer service and refuse to help me with my claim. I am a student who is without a car. The person I spoke to said that they will not help and chose not to and good luck with getting my car back. This is a sick company and a sick time dump and waste of money.
The fact that they lied on this board is sickening. I just want my car back, it has been a week and they have offered no help or given any condolences for the fact that they have taken so long to process and not cover this claim. I will be updating this thread as this issue unfolds due to the unprofessional nature of my correspondences that I have received from this company and its affiliates.

Car Shield does not pay off. They find any reason they can to not pay. A bearing in my drive shaft went out and they didn't cover the cost of repairs. Dangerous for me to drive the car but they didn't care. Terrible ripoff. Do not buy their coverage!
We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.
We have contacted your service contract administrator to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. In review of their notes, a bearing failure in the drive shaft is not a covered component of your vehicle service contract terms.
As requested, a full refund was issued on June 16, 2020.
We are sorry to lose you as a CarShield customer and wish you well.

So far our experience with CarShield has been questionable at least. Everything is great as long as they are taking your premiums. As soon as you make a claim the nightmare begins. Their claims department is IMPOSSIBLE to get a hold of. Plan on wait times of at least 1.5-2hrs before you get through and then when you hear someone say hello they HANG UP! This is a scam. They are not set up to provide a service to their customers. They are set up to take your money and make it impossible to get through to file any kind of claim.
Our mechanic does not have 1.5-2 hours to wait on hold until he can report the damage. Once we finally got through and made CarShield 3-way call and dial our mechanic directly, then they hold up approval bouncing it to different departments. Already 4 days without our vehicle and the work has not even begun!
This is not a business that is there to take care of their customers. This is an insurance scam that promises something they cannot deliver. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR CARSHIELD!
We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and giving us the opportunity to assist you with this matter.
We have contacted your service contract administrator to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. In review of their notes, there was a claim submitted on June 11, 2020 for a failed transfer unit. The transfer unit is not listed as a covered component under your Powertrain Gold vehicle service contract terms. However, there are many components that are listed as covered. Your service contract administrator has paid over 10 million dollars in covered repair claims, just since February 1, 2020 alone.
If you are unhappy with your service contract for any reason, we would offer to refund you in full the 2 payments you have made. This would cancel you service contract going forward.
You may also choose to keep your service contract for future covered repair.
Please contact us at *** and let us know how we can assist you.

My engine light came on. I called Carshield. They told me to take it to the mechanic of my choice. I took it to *** Dealership in Dexter, Mo. I took the vehicle there on April 14th and an they had it until May 21st. Their technician said he was waiting on approval from Carshield. They had an inspector from Nashville come up to check my vehicle. They told the technician that told me that they had the permission to fix my car. They fixed it. Then Carshield called and said that the customer should pay because they said they weren't paying for it.

Car shield sold me a warrant on a battery operated hybrid vehicle, but the warrenty excludes anything Related to the hybrid battery. The advertising was false and misleading as the contract covers the engine. The battery is in essence the engine of a battery operated vehicle.

We have contacted your contract service administrator, American Auto Shield to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. I have asked this business numerous times to stop contacting me either by phone or by mail. They continue to send mailers, and I get 3 phone calls per week. I want them to cease and desist.
I intend to make a report with the Attorney General of Missouri as well.
We appreciate you bringing this to our attention. In review of our call records, CarShield has never contacted on the phone number provided in your complaint. That is not the case.We have added the number you have provided in your complaint to our do not call list to assure that you will not ever receive a call from our company.Respectfully,Customer Relations

I have contracted Car Shield which incidently is SUB CONTRACTED OUT for starters, through *** located in Lakewood Colorado. Problem number ONE. They were EXTREMELY PROFESSIONAL, informative, and accomadating upon the initial establishment of the contract with their customer service. The problems begin when a claim is filed; hence, problem number TWO. The exchange between a dealership/repair facility and AUTO SHIELD is not only a lenghty back and forth process of negotiation to include but not be limited to extreme hold timesas a result of their lack of prepardness but additionally entails every effort to NOT have to utilize OEM dealer manufactured parts but rather their OWN upon availability stock/warehouse remanufactured/rebuilt parts. Should they NOT have an easy out then they will pay a lesser amout to cover the part(s) in question. Problem number THREE. In closing, their and in my experience with this business organization, they are seeking any road that leads to the path of least resistance and will lead to their ultimate benefit. Problem number FOUR. Incidently, NOISES AND SQUEEKS although indicative of a part failure are NOT covered so basically your vehicle should be in flat bed/tow status for an acknowledgement of what this organization deems to be a FAILED PART.

We have contacted your service contract administrator to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. They also note that they spoke with your repair facility on June 8, 2020 regarding the difference they were charging for parts and labor. Your repair facility agreed to change your labor hours to 1.5 hours and the technician was going to speek to his manager about the4 difference in parts cost. The repair facility was going to discuss accepting shipped in parts to save you money.

My account was active when I filed the claim. It took 2 or 3 weeks to even hear back from you. Why would I keep paying when you obviously took my mo eye with no plans s ro fix my car. My transmission guy and myself got the run around. I would NEVER recommend you and if ANYONE asks me I tell them exactly what you did so dont try to fake respond and say this was my fault. I paid my money. I made my claim. You did nothing.
